Yo D! Finally checking this out...interesting selection of loops...crazy hearing my own one in there! I like the concept behind it and the sounds involved; all I'd say is that the levels need to be mixed down a little to get them sitting nicely together.
Apart from that it's really cool and quirky - no less than I'd expect from you :)
this is a nice one, i agree with spivkurl that The drum and bass combination really makes it roll along, but i think that the vocal are really good.nice job...peace n respect.by the way listen to my new mix memories of love
Lovin this one! The drum and bass combination really makes it roll along! The vocals are a little jazzy, so that makes a nice contrast. I can always trust you to please my ears with something refreshing! Thanks for sharing!
Great Looper Mash up..I spent a week in Mexico,a couple months ago,and this track reminds me alot of the dance vibe that was going on there.definitely a groovin movin mix.Great job.Cheers!
Funny you mention that, because originally the thought of it having a bit of Latin flavor hadn't even occurred to me. Though on relistening I totally hear it too. Haha, unintentional fusion of styles there (bonus points, haha). Am glad you enjoyed this mate. As previously mentioned, this mix wouldn't have been possible without the loops all of you provided for this. So thanks again for that. Funny fun-fact about those loops of yours- they sorta reminded me of the collab tune I did with Splish, Snooze Button (vibe wise, at least). Thanks for stopping by. Lates!
Thanks mate. As I just said to Edge7, this mix would not have possible without the great loops you all provided here. Thanks again for sharing and I am glad you enjoyed this. Later on!
This flows real nice! Love how you use loops! These are definitely unusual vocals, but they fit right in with the music you've created! The drums are especially cool on this one! Groovy track!
Nice "ethnic" type groove to this DV my friend. Love how you have used the vocal. Very haunting sound to it. Bass keeps it pumping along. I'm mightily impressed.
Thanks vis. I've currently got something like 30 acapellas in my bin and her's just seemed to have the best groove for this. This also marks the first time I've done a "versus" type of mixing style. Will definitely have to mess around with it more often. Glad you enjoyed this mate. Lates!
Prech that mate. The motivation came from the last mix I did with your stuff (as previously mentioned). I feel that without the loops you've shared these mixes might not have even come about. Glad ya dug it too. Lates!
PS. perhaps for my next mix
I'll do a Edge7 vs DonnieVyros
mix =}
cool percussion here DV...I stop in once in a while for lessons you know...not that I do electronica so much...just that your page is a dm good source of ideas....Like that acapella that Minette did...and very nice piece of work here on building around it.....well done......Ed
Muchos gracias Ed. That's my main drive with music- the ideas (and experimentation). I love playing around with new concepts (or with older, established ones that I have yet to try my hand at or haven't heard anyone do in a while). If I can inspire/motivate others than I feel that I've succeeded at my mix-craft. As for genres, we all come from our own particular schools, but the beauty of audio is that we can freely move from one to another. I'm glad ya enjoyed this. Lates!
Haha, nice one mate. I had the same problem with 9 volt batteries a while back (switched to markers, much less painful, jk). Anyways, glad ya dug this mate. Lates!
Prech that mate. The instrumental version of this ain't half-bad, but the version with the lyrics is so much better IMO. Still waiting to hear back from Laura (though last we spoke she was about to start a new job, so I don't wanna rush her with this- in comparison to that). Glad ya dug it mate. Lates!
I'm sure the out of time elements are done for a reason but my brain can't ignore it and a voice in my head like a drill instructor says "That's out of time! Goddammit" I'll have to listen to some of yr others. Not my thing to be honest.
I hear ya mate. This was an experiment with offsetting stuff (sorta like a way to point to signaled chaos, in-step with the game's progressive speed change). More for the psychological effect of conscious interference rather than traditional escapist immersion approach. Thanks for stopping by. Lates!
Creative mix m8, I like the vocals, interesting elements!
The only criticism I have is that this track lacks transitions,
you must try to connect a bit better intro, and loops, because you can hear exactly where the loop begins when it ends, there is no transitions ("glue") that will connect that!
Anyway keep up the good work mate, and thank you for using my loop!
Thanks mate. I like coming up with beautifully odd results with my experimentations (namely the Blues vocal pairing well with the D&B/Dance tune). You're drums sound perfect BTW (classic & pure IMO). & another oddity is that they paired well with my bass loops (who knew, haha).
I hear what you're saying about the intro/loops. For the intro/outro, that was my way of faking like this was a part of a larger mix session (going into other songs as if this song were hastily cut/recorded from it). For the loop part, that mostly falls back on intent- since this was my first site *Showcase, I wanted to present the stuff as naked as possible (as a selling point to potential new members). Cuts & effects would've masked the pure beauty of the original sample me thinks. I've changed this stance with my subsequent "site mixes". Though, truth be told, this is still my current favorite out of the 5 I've done so far (the one with Steklo comes in right behind it), Anywho, nuff gabbin outta me. Glad ya dug it. Later on!
I dig it when people forget about genres and just mix up good music....love this one DV...a bit unusual with the panning on the bass etc but its great listening music..like your musical imagination & the results it produces...well done...ED
Thanks mate. As I said in the "How Do You Produce" thread, I don't really follow music theory (or any similar school of thought there). I just play it by ear and try to come up with stuff that pleases the headphones. Panning is a fun lil advanced tool/trick I use on about half of my mixes now (love the feeling it gives). Glad ya dug this. Later on!
I don`t have enough technical knowledge of the genre to comment on that Donnie...I just go by what sounds good to listen to...and this sure does...very nice job on the mix too.....Ed
Yeah, that's usually what I do too (play it by ear, if it sounds right or interesting I go with it). As for the mix, I'm still getting use to applying vocals (of another person). Don't do it that often. Glad ya dug the mix. Later on!
Glad ya dug it mate. Those loops of yours are awesome (and these in particular were familiar because I heard someone else's mix on here that used 'em). Thanks again for sharing 'em with us (they add a nice dreamy quality to the track IMO). Later on!
NICE mix Donnie!!!! I dig this for sure! Levels of crazy mixed thoughts. Very interesting work!! Sounds like what I goes on in my head after being druged up. Weird and all over the place. haha. I enjoyed the listen, good stuff..
Great use of all the loops. Makes me wanna try something like this and see what happens. Thank you for using my loop, sounds good D. Keep it up the good work.
Thanks mate. Everything came together with those voc-synth FX2 loops I rolled. So off-the-wall that they made me think of the rave scene from a few years back. And I'm glad that this could inspire you to try something similar. The original goal of these showcases was for hypin the site (kinda was thinkin that some publicity would be good for it since the time it was down last year). Then the other side of it was to encourage others to follow suit with similar mixes (am thinkin it'd be cool if there were more of those, ya know?). Am glad ya dug this. Later on!
Looks like the Looper Family Band was in on this one..the full international cast....way to go..I can`t claim any significant knowledge of the genre, but I know where to come if I need any D&B lessons..very nicely done..you can play this one my radio any time....Ed
Haha, am flattered mate, but there are other folks who are my schooled on d-n-b than I (weazelbeats, rougeai, alen9r to name a few). I'm still what you'd class as a student here (am that in many ways and most of the times, really). As for the mix, try to do that with most of the stuff I do (give it a worldly flair). Am glad ya dug it. Later on!
I know this is a preview of one I reviewed already, but oh well! Nice flow to this track! I really like the choice of sounds that you made on this track! The bass really grooves! Excellent collab!
Yeah, that's cool. 2 different versions and all that. Kinda wanted to present it to folks to show what it was like with and w/o vox (and also good b/c I've opened up this tune for remix). The bass loops are available on here if ya wanna play with 'em. Anyways, glad ya dug this vers too. Later on!
