That's a great song Blair. Even though it is a sad subject, when listening to your song, people get to believe again that there is light at the end of tunnel... Nice one. I like song with a more serious note.
Cheers S.

Thanks a lot. The music is upbeat because even though it says I've seen better days. It's not said like we don't still have hope and believe that better days can come again. Beside last chorus is saying "I'm seeing better days"

Thanks for listening. It always tares us up too. We'll see a homeless father or mother with a child. The most important thing to remember is that these are human beings and need to be treated with respect.

that's all it needs: a guitar, a voice, and someone who really has to say something ... perfect!!
and if I feel that someone honestly tries to speak out of his heart, then I don't care about recording quality, production techniques or skills and things like that ...

and one more thing: no matter what good or bad things happened to me in the past, I always think that the better days are yet to come .... but I know what you're speaking about ...

peace, rei

I like your music Blair for the simple fact that I always get a clear sense of your strong and loving spirit. That is an element that no amount of technology and fancy effects can give a song or a singer. Just keep doing what your doing, in music and in life, because you are obviously on a good path.

Hi Blair,
Getting around catch up on some listening to tracks here today.
I like this song you did here. I liked the words and could hear them clearly and sounds heartfelt. I think a little less reverb would bring the guitar and voice to the front more in the mix.
You have a good voice too!

Thanks for uploading it here,
Randy

This song helps me to want to get back to worshipping with just vocals and acoustic guitar again. Besides some echo on the guitar and playing it at a slower tempo, see if you can get your hands on a 12 string guitar.

Thanks for the review. Always wanted a 12 string.
But got a lot of other thing I'd like to get first.

simple and effective songwriting and essential message........
you should put a little bit reverb on the rhythm guitar.....would fit better to your voice .....maybe
btw. your avatar.....wow,excellent

Thanks. Your right I need to go back and add some reverb to the guitar. I did with Rain and like the sound it has. I used reverb and chorus. found that avatar looking for pictures of ugly cats. Love it. Besides the foot pedal I think he has an ash tray and a beer.

Animate someone going throw an itch fit while thinking they are covered with Ants or something. Kinda like this could be turned into some cult dance song like The Electric Slide, however cursed be it's name, but moving on. Let's see...

Next step would be to go up and down, like doing the standing squats exercise. Then throw in a lil side to side gyration. Wait, even better, roll the hips as if wearing an imaginary Hula Hoop. Adding in some mimmicked shoulder rolls (in solo or opposite the hip rolls). Wrapping it up with pivoting around on one foot in a circle and swapping feet every so often.

Presto, we've added to contemporary pop culture. Cheers!

blairrock957 replied Unknown
I actually did think at one point you could do the electric slide to this. Ohh the pain. I blame the actions of that point in my life on alcohol. Line dancing should only be done by Legos.

I agree with Bill...an untouched, one take recording can have it's pitfalls...but the benefits far outweigh any quality control issues.
A truly delightful piece, sung with sincerity and meaning...believe me when I say I know all about rain and how it effects us spiritually, emotionally and physically.....great work!...cheers planet

on Call on the Lord. by blairrock957
Now I'm no song writing expert by any means.....There's one bit I would change though, after the finger style intro you start singing in syncopation with the strummed chords...I'd keep that part with no modulation...just sing the passage straight, and let the guitar bounce around at the edges.....the devils been defeated part is perfect...just my take on it...cheers planet
blairrock957
blairrock957 replied Unknown
I'll try playing around with that. I had this as an instrumental for a while before I did the lyrics. Just picked up the guitar and tried it took me a couple of times to get it. But I like it. gives more seperation to the 2 vocal parts. I think I like it. I'll try recording that way in a couple of days and see how it sounds. Seems good though. thanks for the advice.
