Description : Ok...the last one of 2010 for the Backburner Challenge. It reminds me of DJSchmeeJ and his Rock Lives song.
I could never finish this so why not upload it as is.
This was all months ago,my wife had the puter and I had this drum track loaded on my Tascam but I was waiting for other samples on the pute we were sharing at the time so I got tired of waiting and recorded this... up late..and went to bed! Drums from my good friend BrianMaiden407 and three raw guitar tracks and one bass..
Happy New Year to all that are "Up Late"...
Yes,very much happy 80's rock!

Haha, I'm always 'up late' (I'm a night owl, prefer the 3rd shift life over the others... plus, the night is better on the eyes/skin- no harmful UV, haha). As for the tune, haven't heard the other (Schmeej one) so I can't comment there. This sorta reminds me of Top Gun for some reason (not Loggins, that other guy, Satriani, but just a tad toned down, less solo & more drive, ya know). And a 'lil Green Day (has some punk angst to it me thinks). Only thing I'm left cravin is some bass, but that's whatev' (don't need 'em all the time). Nice jam mate. Lates!
Thanks Donnie!
I could have worked on it more but it was a late night end of the year challenge.
It was a jam for sure...I got the drums from member BrianMaiden who got them from the drummer for Cheap Trick so I just played around the drums.
Oh...The Satriani reference made my day!
Thanks again for your comments, they are appreciated!
Allen.
Thank you John!
You know I've been out of the loop for sometime and I love your new song and Kik is Kikn'.I've always loved his natural guitar sound from the get go.
Cool DJ...Hey ,If you want to add anything to it...feel free, download it and it's yours!just thought It was one you would like, but it needs something...not quite complete. Thanks for your comment my friend!
You're quite an Axeman, my friend, i love the free-wheelin aventgard soul-bearing lead, heaping with years of refined technique, not to mention the great sounding final mixdown.
Respect & appreciation, J.B.
I love the interpretation as free-wheelin Emann cause that's what it was about..not taking it too serious and having fun!
I appreciate this review and that you "got" it,
Yep Al, this is most def 80's bro. You nailed it. Transports me back to the days of Ferris Beullers day off, sixteen candles etc. Made me think of Jane Wiedlin - Rush Hour which is one of my favorite 80's tracks.
Ah...the 80's,such a carefree time D...I'm both blessed and lucky to have survived it though ;)
2011..here we come!...wait,that year difference just made me feel old for a second.......Ok,i'm fine now,but still old!
Thank you Vicen! We have some music to do ourselves,
I'm on it very soon..I love the track we did and more will follow soon I'm sure!
Thanks for your support.
Man, this is so smooth! I'm lovin those guitar riffs, and the lead is awesome! This is a great way to wake up! Could use some strong vocals though! Really nice work!
Spivkurl!Hey my friend,I'm pleased that an almost"throw away"song could survive until the year's end.
I agree about vocals... but we all know how that goes, maybe I'll find some now that I posted this but the lottery would be good too;)...I bet I could find em'then!
Thanks again for checkin' it out.
i missed this one last night, Allen, but lemme tellya it's one great eye-opener here in the morning - beautiful sweet melodic energy like this beats all kinds of hell outta cereal.
happy new years day, brother - thanks!!
Haha!!Thanks M,..I do think happy rock can be the breakfast of champions,I'm glad I could provide a small portion of your recommended daily requirements :)
Happy New Years mate to you and your family, man very nice piece, totally agree with Wayne, about the girls he mention, especially Joan Jet, very clear mix, listening to it on the laptop and it is sounding great, excellent guitar work again my friend, nice strong beat driving it along just nicely, another excellent AllenV production, instant fav my friend...Peace n Respect Allen..Peace n Respect mate...Estefano...PS have a couple Trancers up you might enjoy, one has had massive response which is very pleasing...
Thank you Estefano,I've had my plate full this season but I'm on the comeback trail so I'll pull my act together and make this a great new year, and of course I'll be over to hear you!
Thanks so much my friend :)
This is great, the drum track is nice and clear and the guitars are great as usual! Man, I would love to hear Pat Benetar or Joan Jet or some other female rocker lay a vocal track on this. This is just a cool rock track Allen, glad you put it up!
I'm gonna dl this and fav it cuz it's just that good!!!!
Hey Wayne,Thanks...Man I wish I had a female vocalist for this cause it would be the best thing that would fit...also a little early Cheap Trick vox would be cool also,or I should have asked Tacatta if he could do anything with the song but I'm afraid I may have lost the separated tracks, and I would need to edit the lead for vocals...or have to re-record it!
Yea,I hung on to it cause I always wanted to add to it but the end of year challenge was too tempting so I let it go...for now :)
Thanks my friend!

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.
Description : Feel free to check out the lyrics video on YT as well :) This is a new track based on the great vocals by Ashes and Dreams! Again, a mix of electronic/progressive/rock, any feedback is welcome
Description : The first track I sing on. Cheap stage mic & no fancy plugins. Heavily guitar laden to the point it's got a bit of a shoegaze thing going on. I pulled the lyrics out of my ass & yes, they're a bit silly.
Description : This song was not supposed to be the fourth track of "Diverse waves", but it finally is. Anyway it's a rock oriented track with some interesting sounds. I hope you like it. Worked in zenbeats DAW, by Roland.
Description : BIG UPDATE 26/02/2014 - So, this was an 18 min track that I have now successfully split in two. 2nd half I uploaded a few weeks ago (Things That Should Always Be, with the bouncy 2 min reggae intro). This is the first half, which has a new mix, a mega chill, meditative ending and a little jazz thrown in for good measure. Takes a few minutes for beat to really kick in. Constantly evolving electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic drums and lead banjo driven by fat, busy 80BPM grooves with a bit of a reggae and shuffle feel. Also: synth choir voices, dulcimer, violin, cello, shimmering pads. Builds up gradually to nice and rocking and then gets taken back down for the big comedown chill. I really don't know what sort of genre this is except 'far out'. I think it sounds more like a live band than one guy playing instruments and manipulating a DAW. Not my best track but a bit of blissful, sunny island fun. Real positive vibe here so I hope you give it a chance to unfold and unfurl. Sit back, clear your schedule and immerse yourself in these trippy sonic experiments cooked up deep in my off-planet underground laboratory. I have to send the MP3 to Earth via space courier (not cheap).
Description : This track was like the inhale after an exhale of aggressive industrial-electro-sludge tracks that I had put out that summer and fall. This was the more reserved, and introspective winter track. It's nothing spectacular, but I still really enjoy it. I hope you do too. Take care. V.
Description : when i was a kid you could go down and buy acid drops at the dairy - sour boiled sweets....vox, guitars and keys by me. Bass a LM loop by megapaul.
