Loopcloud - Black Friday 2021 Biggest Ever Deal
Tags : | Pop | 6.67 MB

Description : Been practicing with Ableton for 4 weeks and I think I have got the hang of making and recording loops and putting them together in scenes . However I haven't got the hang of the arrangement window yet and using automation so I just recorded the clips in they the order they came. EQed them so hopefully they sound ok. Using headphones at the moment. The music is me noodling around with my guitar and my synth. Comments and helpful hints please. No idea what genre it is.

very retro-sounding, likin it; im not much on the positive sounding stuff as a rule but i am re-finding my inner light and some music resonates with it; but please tell me, wtf is an Ableton!

    Reply by ElectronBlue

Hahahaha I like it lol. Well an Ableton is a very expensive DAW that is very hard to use with a learning curve that is fucking vertical. But it's great fun with loops. And this song is the very first one I ever made and recorded. My first ever fuck-up with more to come.

Hey 12Strings! Nice track young man! ha ha ha! No I really love it and I am wondering where are the rest of your tracks. It's clear that you are an accomplished musician from times before all of this DAW and Ableton stuff. You produced and played music with your buddies and sharing ideas in an earlier time.

Well the quality is exceptional on this track and I am hoping to hear more from you soon. Your talent and sense of humuor is awesome! Keep up the Great work!

Hey Joe! Glad you like my little jam session old school style lol. It.s the only way I know how to do things for now but I am almost there with the arranging and Ableton and PC thing. Back in the old days we used an 8 track tape recorder lol. It was the business. Then a Tascam 4 track tape record 4 SEPERATE TRACKS WOW! on a little cassette and it was all dead raw. The vocals had a tape looper for delay. Stick your head in a bucket for echo lol. And calculators were all the rage. All real instruments of course unless you were a millionaire and could afford a Moog or a MS20 FOR STRANGE SOUNDS. Did some studio work so I know how that works but the engineers did the mixing. I always tell people to use there ears as they are the best judge in the end not the quality of your plugs or how well you can use your DAW. Our first ever gig was in a chicken factory. We were playing outside just for fun and the manager heard us and asked us to go in and play for the girls at lunch time. We got paid in chickens and I got a date. Nice girl.

This is a great relaxing tune! You've done an excellent job! I know ableton can be a little tough to learn, but it seems like you've got a great start! Well done!

    Reply by ElectronBlue

Thanks Spivkurl I am really trying but there is so much to take in all at once. The learning curve is fing vertical.

Thanx Xmafax good to get comments from experienced producers like yoour self that turn out fantastic work as it gives me more confidence to try harder and practice my guitar and keyboard more often. I spend way to much time on the PC learning how to use it, Ableton and the darn hardware controllers.

Yes, the very first piece of music I have ever composed on a pc using software. was hard work playing in the keyboard and guitar and getting the recording right but I managed it in the end mistakes and all lol. Still plodding on and learning but I will get there. Thanks for the kind words and I am glad you enjoyed it.

well, according to your various beauty loops which I've downloaded before some of those instructive(for me) loops by 12string ,today just when in a randomized search I found a track from you, there was no doubt for me that I would enjoy it,and I had guessed right & really enjoyed it. cool, gentle, calm & warm(althought also chillout) & for me Instructive like your beautifull loops.best wishes & regards.___Behnam.

Thank you so much for your kind words and for not mentioning the many mistakes in the track lol. It is my first track as I learn to use Ableton but I will get better. Honest!

Beautiful song, I enjoyed listening to this very much. Hey a stupid short term memory improvement trick. We have better spatial memory than cognitive memory. That's why we remember where we have been and how things should look when we walk outside. Associate a concept with a place. Like a Guitar phrase with the corner store. Or A Chord structure with your neighbours fence. You will find you can recall a bit easier that way.

    Reply by ElectronBlue

Thanks crucethus for your kind comment much appreciated. Yea having a stroke really sucks but I am getting over it and improving all the time. My memory is improving a little but the damage is done lol. But hey! I get to play on it at my convenience if something dose not suit me. I might have a short memory span but I am not stupid lol.

Hey 12 String...great chilled out groove happening here man, pretty blissed out vibe all the way through, with some very tasty guitar as well!...Ableton is my DAW of choice and I love it..the arrangement view is where an old school muso like yourself will find his true home, the linear aspect of it is just fantastic and you can see your whole track mapped out with a plethora of control options....I won't go into specifics obviously, session view is cool as well..a lot of people only use that....anyway great to see another Ableton fan on the Loop! cheers Dave

    Reply by ElectronBlue

Wow, coming from you I feel well praised indeed. I agree Ableton is great but hard to learn for an old timer like me lol. Love all the controls and instruments though. The Amp section is great. Midi is great. The loops section is something completely new to me but is a complete blast being able to put in a loop and just move it about with other loops and just create a completely new sound. Having said that it's not my music. But still Amazing! I still like just jamming along to a drum beat though with my guitar and keyboard. I am going to try harder to record a loop of my guitar and keyboard twiddly bits even though it messes up my train of thought and stops the flow of music and see what comes up. You got the old school bit right LOL hahahah

Was that like four weeks twenty four seven? For a first track using a DAW as complicated as Ableton you should be very proud of the result. What you have achieved here is a song that is very pleasant to listen to. The mix is very well balanced. Looking forward to hearing more from you. :)

    Reply by ElectronBlue

Cheers fixxxer. Erm, yes, just about lol. I am retired after having had a stroke that left me with no short term memory so lots of time to mess about and try to get things right. I think I do about 8 hrs a day if I don't get too tired or my brain don't hurt lol. It will take me a while to learn it though because the day after I will have forgotten most of what I learned the day before lol.

I'm impressed 12string, I couldn't even get any sound out of Ableton, and now use the CD to scare off the birds in my garden, hahaha.

Seriously though, it is impressive that you were able to record this after only 4 weeks. Like Ed, I like something a bit simpler for my tunes, more plug and play. I'm no good with a computer, so the less I have to do, the better off I am.

Anyway, really smooth track that I would put in the chill genre. A great way for me to wind down at the end of the day. I liked your guitar and synth work on this one. Well done.

    Reply by ElectronBlue

Thanks "shortbusmusic" for your kind comment. lol @ the birds comment I am sure it wasn't that bad but at least the birds get to enjoy it. I know what you mean as I had a few disasters before I posted my first bit of a try with ableton. Ableton is not like Sonar or Cubase that's all linear and you just arrange it as you go. Once I can figure out how to arrange things better I will re post it. Also the track has an annoying blip sound and I can't figure out where it came from. I don't think I could ever reproduce the flute track as I was just jamming along with the flute sound on my synth to the rest of the track. You know how it is so I hope I don't mess thing up. The guitar part is boring so I am going to work on that and try to make it a little more interesting, mabe a little acoustic fingerpicking.

Hey, this is pretty cool, 4 weeks using Ableton and you are putting tracks like this together. I just switched to Ableton full time and it is pretty amazing. Once you make your scenes you can hit the global record and whatever scenes you "play" live get recorded in arrangement view. In that view you can move the blocks around, duplicate and remove blocks and arrange the song any which way you want to. You tube tutorials are the way to learn a lot.

    Good luck, have fun!

    Reply by ElectronBlue

Thanks for the feedback theHumps much apreciated. I just learned that you can copy and paste and move the blocks around. It can be confusing at first. I need to learn about automation now and I just might get the hang of this baby. yes Ableton is amazing once you know how to use it. It has quite a steep learning curve. Thanks for the youtube tip. I had a look on youtube and there are some good lessons. Should keep me going for a while.

You`re off to a fine start 12string...enjoyed this one...a lot of guys like Live but its the one daw i just couldn`t get into...guess I`m a linear thinker & like a workflow that helps me do the thinking....sounds like you`re doing fine...well done....keep on....Ed

As human, i need to bring out my feelings, and that is easier for me when I make music. Something in lyrics and Baby's performance touched me deeply. Just turn your lighter on, wave it and enjoy.
