I enjoyed, this my only gripe is in the mix of the bum bum sound.. those vocal stabs should be wide and in the back of the mix and not in the center and muted. Otherwise nice choice of instrument loops. Creates a sense of tension. And the ending is to short or cut off. otherwise nioce work and your on to something.

Great Satire, and TA is nailing the emotive side of explanations these days.

Hey Crucethus, I appreciate you stopping by to listen! I'm assuming TA refers to someone who ended up in my sampleset, from the Canadian gov't... otherwise, I'm not sure what it would mean. I was not paying attention to who the people were, but simply the content and malleability.

The suggestion of "satire" seems to be a common reaction to this song so far, and it is interesting to me. I'll just paste part of my response to Orlando in regards to this - "There really was no mocking in my intention, but simply adjustment of spoken words to serve my literal purpose. Is that satire? I don't know for sure, still."

I have a strong bitterness about humans and their efforts to shape and control natural forces, when they know so little about such things. Their life is short and consumptive, their history is short and violent, their mass religions are disrespectful to nature and those who live in harmony with nature. This shows little credibility for being able to control even themselves, or to shape even their own future... aside from what I have explained in the song itself.

Thank you for listening and leaving your words!

Nice job. reminds me of a modern Falco tune (if he were still alive). sans the dub-step moments.

Minimalist, almost reminded me a small bit of something Type-O negative would have attempted, had they still been around in these modern times.

on Angel of the East by Nodog
Those are nice pads and a clearsound. Almost as if the Angelus-est was hovering over you but hesitating. As the music gives you a sense of wanting to go somewhere but always remains restrained. I like how it ends on the raw electric guitar (fender?). Nice.

Hi Cru good to hear from you i laid this track out differently from the usual way i work there was a definite time line to it which i kept to. I wanted it to have space. A bit more discipline than i usually possess. You are right about the guitar is a very old Greco stratocaster and copy of the iconic Fender which the masterful Leo Fender created. Now there was a trailblazer if there ever was one he was a fantastic man. Thanks and best regards Robbie.

on Jeden Tag - version 2017 by joecramer
I love this song. I would add some pads when you start singing. and then it needs a strong piano just playing ne note at a time. when i have the time, I would love to add to this one Joe. A great piece of work and very catchy as I keep thinking of it in my mind.

Thanks a lot for your gentle comment Steve.
Really good to know that you like what i have done.
I would be honored if you would take the time to compose something for this song.
Since I intend at least to resume the choral part, it would be nice if you, whatever you produce, send it me as separate steem file, so I can mix it again properly.
If you want i can send you the steems to work on/with

stay tuned

Awesome , this is Ambient, and a freaking scary ambient at that. great usage of the whole dynamic palate. the sub bass with the dissonance is sublime. 1:55 reminds me of some NIN or later Gary Numan.
fav'd, thanks for adding to the Hal;loween spectacle!

after I uploaded it I seen your thread and thought "well damn isn't that just a great coincidence, Halloween themed music thread. perfect" making decent ambient songs is a lot harder then it sounds. when you get into the "weird" noise territory its hard to get similar sounding synths in there that go well together. I'm going to try another one and see how it comes out. if its Halloween worthy I will post it up on that thread. thanks for the listen and review!

Ha ha now that's a tasteless video there, but funny nonetheless ! I'm not sure if you've ever heard of him but I have been a fan of Sylvain Cloux for years. Hes a french guitarist who does amazing metal renditions of theme songs and covers. I sort of tried to do this in his style. if you get a chance check him out. I love his Munster's and Bond theme covers. Thanks for the comment Cru !!!

Much Much better, now everything fits in it's place. Now you can experiment with the percussion and bringing the drama up. and then the drop to just the pad and rebuild the whole thing. even think about a key change at the end, the ideas are endless.

I liked the disjointed ness of it. the sections just begging for cohesion. Then the last part of the song is killer. even my wife liked your dissonat brass fading away to obscurity at the end. Overall good work.\

I love the pipes, the northern feel. sweet arpeggio anchoring the song. The vocals choir is appropriate. It is a bit repetitive, but a strong basis to make a song out of.

on Drama Pudding by thelastmonte
This is very good. As a fellow artist who loves to "genre bend" loops to fuse into any style or song, i can appreciate this. It reminds me of some of my earlier efforts which really brought wild sounds together. But as I have gotten wiser with time with looping I am learning that it all has to stick together like glue. You have that cool vocal phrasing which makes it funky and sets a groove tone. you then bring in some sweet strings but it almost segues awkwardly with the vox at first. I have found that that is the time where you up your percussion game, bringing in a bridge that will allow those strings and vox to fit. Don't be afraid to use like 10 tracks for percussion sometimes to give a mix like this some edge.anyhow enough of my "Yakking" from La Belle province, Bonne travaille!

So where the strings and the vocals collide. Ok, thanks for the critique! I'll play around with it.

on What Kinda Poison by Spivkurl
A singular sound you have created. I love the analogue synths, the minimalist two step beat that just hammers it into your brain like a power press drill. If you really wanted to mindfuck us, you could have segued in a gabba sound by doubling the bpm for a few measures. but then I might have crapped my pants and recluded to the nearest wall in a fetal position rocking back and forth making a gurrrgghh like sound. thats the power of your music my friend. Powerful Poison indeed.

Spivkurl
Spivkurl replied 27th Sep 2017 - 8 years ago
Ha ha, gabba... now there's something you don't hear brought up every day! I try to avoid "brown note" and similar situations, since I would hate to be asked to clean it up. Plus life is hard enough as it is!

Happy to hear that you think it has some power to it. It's been taking all of my self control to keep plugging away at this album. Hopefully I am within a song or two. The record heat in the past couple of weeks did not help at all!

Just thought I'd take a minute to respond here, and return the favor before I finish making seed milk. Thanks for listening friend!

I remember learning that word in my college Italian class. I like using note sets and some of the serial techniques. I'm so used to the result. I forget how strange this atonal stuff must sound to others. But glad some can appreciate. Thanks Cru.

Something amiss with the rhythms of the guitar and piano. They both sound nice separately but not together.

Thanks... I felt the same thing, but was so focused on making the guitar sound decent that I overlooked that. It sounds best just to rip out the paino chords all together, don't you think?

Hey Cru,
Thanks for sharing your feeling about this sound :) (i saw you recently changed your logo, nice choice ;))
about the bass line, as toastedavalanche noticed it, i took care to create an interplay with the piano. Your reference to chicago make me happy because it's a great place for house music! thank you very much for your friendly words, i appreciate it :)

There is a Leonard Cohen quality about this one. In a good good way. Keep on it. Musically I want to hear a chorus sung an octave higher in it maybe with a quick explosion of emotion and back down to that draweld almost spoke-sung sound that reminds me of Mr Cohen.
