Very cool chill vibe mate. Your next phase is to start thinking about Consonant expressions in your vocals. The best Vocalists have an innate ability to twist the sound by how they enunciate. (It's kinda why I don't sing very much on my work) Anyhoo. I am back. I needed a break to sort out family trauma and morning. I will be working on some new material in 2024. I have been especially listening to Clannad and understanding some of the more esoteric sounds. I did a chat GPT search for my name (Crucethus) and was pleasantly surprised by the results it gave. That has kickstarted me back. Warm regards my friend, always a listening pleasure.
great to have you back around and im looking forward to your new work. sorry to here about your loss Steven, never a good time for anyone, hope your all good my thoughts are with you.
i have really been putting the work in on music over the last 3-6 months, areas i have heard about but didn't really understand clearly sound structures stereo separation chord progressions key scales frequency ranges etc, so im excepting my work to sound better, also i usually sing from a lyric sheet, even though i know the words i wrote them but still use a lyric text for safety but my last two i stood up and freestyled of the top of my head, i think the delivery feels more natural then but i little more difficult too, thanks again for your support Steven its always appreciated as is your feedback
I like that intro fade-in. And I like that abrupt ending. I am glad you are having so much fun doing this now, it's nice to listen to your creations. Happy holidays to you and yours.
thankyou Steven its always a pleasure to have you check me out, happy holidays to your lot too, im really having fun now simply because of how ive learnt far more on the engineering side, with a number of vocal cuts multi layered dynamic EQ de-easing reverbs delays all side-chained in, thanks for the shout on the faded intro, i use automation alot now as you probably know anything can be automated from a knob to a slider a vocal chop, giving you a better impact and total control of output and yes bro, i get far more pleasure passing on new found skills to others, just like you said to me many moons ago, your a colleague and friend i respect
Awesome intro, the bass is tonally awesome. Sweet Chord Structure. I love your Guitar tones as well. I finally bought a Strat Copy and I will be incorporating that in new tunes moving forward. And just like that, the song is over... Very nice my friend, very nice.
I liked this one. The most pleasurable vocals I have heard on one of your tracks to date are really clear sounds in that department. I agree with you about the horns, what I have done in the past is to use a little FX magic, like chorus, a bit on the horns with an ever so slight overdrive on one channel will make that sound more organic. Great work
Hello Steven, nice to see you here again. Thank you for the compliment. And thank you for the good tip about the FX on brass instruments. I'll try it out, but not on this track... it's ok for me the way it is. I still see almost all of my tracks as just exercises. I think I still have a lot to learn before I can get one really good track. Thank you for the really motivating support.
Cheers,
Micky
Bring happiness back... it never went away, sometimes it likes to play hide and seek for a bit. But it always comes back. Nice lyrics Mate, but it's Halloween soon, and we need a spooky tune from yah!
hello Steven, thanks for the listen and comment hope your good, lifes good for me just started a new position senior engineer for an international company, im busy but i might try put something together this weekend i did like it when i done Incy Wincey, or as you say Itsy Bitsy the year before last, we'll see :))
excellent tune, melody rocks, I love how you change the modal structure on the 3rd and 4th measures of every Stanza/ Ask someone to sing (female vox) and the vocaloids could be nice b-ground, but do create some space by adding a touch of verb or shimmer on it and widen that track (relay). good mix , sounds like an even eq spread
So listen to these guys, they have good advice for you. What I will add, is that Abba's Frida. Frida was solo after Abba's demise and her Daughter was playing this Phil Collins solo album and she fell in love with it. So she had her label contact Phil and he agreed to produce her solo album... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p98PjtSfNWo
you should add some Snares that are Noise gated like in the eighties to make it more realistic to the aesthetic.
Swedish mega singer Jorn does a cool cover.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AFmJ1Rq1xU
thanks for the check out Steven and your advice you were always a driver for me bro, ive heard Frida' track before its good and Jorn' cover is rocking, he's got some voice thanks for the share and i hope we going to see and here a bit more from you. hope the family are all good
Ahh the mysteries of creativity, I have learned a long time ago, that sometimes when it doesn't work, another approach with no criteria or design unlocks the creative mind. I always liked Brian Eno's Oblique strategies can also unglue a stuck muse. Cards that will say write a song with the color blue in mind, can really make you reach deep into your creative mind without added pressure of results. So nice tune my friend.
Cool, I'd never heard of those but I'll look into it! I am a huge fan myself of John Cleese's book & video on creativity. Not there's a specific strategy I wouldn't do, but just to remind me that the frustration we feel is shared even by the greatest creative geniuses.
Nice song, I love the chord structures. As I love Bowie and Ferry even more, this reminds me of a Japan tune https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEdX0veLihM
I agree with Manuela, the synths get pushed back too far.
I would love to hear how this one evolves. I just ordered a cheap Stratocaster knockoff from Japan to get my guitar chops back in line. Will go from there.
Steven
That's a great shout. Japan was a good band (might still be).
Thanks for the tip Steven!! I'll follow up... maybe this weekend if I can get my 2 other tracks and several side projects up and running :D
Maybe Vocaloid could work for you. Or take this vox you created and treat it with Valhalla Supermassive or Fab's Volcano. But I like the idea you are pursuing.
thanks Steven, hope you and the Mrs are good, the intro is epic, the rap had to be good. i done a community track before this, if you get five https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/241088
thanks for the stop and listen mate, its appreciated
I feel the bassline drives this one. I also feel some 70's Quiet Sun ethos as well. Awesome tune mate (as always) Funky vibe, Vox is really good mate! Made my evening!
Yeah it all started from a quick bassline. I recorded the bass loop, added some quick funky drums on the electronic set, some piano, and then the vocals basically wrote themselves and suddenly I had a song. Sometimes life is easy and you don't need that much effort :)
