Minunat! I like the complexity in the counterpoint of the composition. When I was 14 I used to try to compose on a commodore vic-20 using basic-language to create sounds. This is a master class in Midi! Thanks
The end is never nye, it's only the doomsayers that believe that. C'mon, I have a world of new sounds for you to make mate!.. It's never over! It's never done!
I think Manuela makes some good points on this one. My suggestion is to take the BPM down 5 to slow it down to a better groove. There is an anxiety about this tune that could be relieved by that. Also some more percussion ideas. like when you drop to the synths only, use a high hat to continue the idea of the rhythm. I would look to some of the techno producers back in 2000 who were played at Tresor. There minimalist style melds with what you are trying to do here. It's very good.
It must be almost christmas getting these great tips and ideas from you and Manuela. I usually set my BPM around 130 and this one is 135 BPM. I like the jumpiness it creates but i definetly agree that overdoing it turns up he level of anxiety. I will go and try to play with the bpm some to see what fits better. Some extra percusion and hats are always a welcome addition if used well. Because i like how the drums turned out I kept some room for them to run almost solo. But again you are right about keeping the groove. I am very happy with your opinion. Love to learn from people like you!
Sometimes the best work we do is when we have an emotional goal, as you have presented to us here. The song is sublime, and the mix is great. I really like your vox treatments on your voice, it fits your style well. I could hear you play this live and extend the instrumental part as a coda at the end, sort of how Roxy does that on "More than this", or Mark Knopfler with "On every street". Otherwise Brilliant and my thoughts are with Cindi's recovery, Your a good friend to her mate!
Thanks Steve!
Yeah you hit the nail on the head as usual. I'll work a bit more on the bridge (wherever we are) and the ending (I'm here for you) but this'll do for now :)
I like Richard Osman, Huge Intelect. I loved his interview with Frankie Boyle a few years back, pulled no punches. I like this tune mate, really laid back and a pleasant listen to tonight.
I need to watch that interview again. Many people were upset about that, as Frankie Boyle is also to some extent the voice of the nation (or the voice of the shouting drunk in the park, at least), but I noted Osman was on a recent episode of Boyle's "New World Order" (S06E01) and Frankie called him "the smartest guy I know" so I guess he doesn't mind.
Thanks a lot for the listen Steve! The music is smooth, the lyrics are somewhat uncomfortable.... I hope that contrast works a bit :)
Are you what's left of the Götiska Förbundet? Nice melding of electronic and Traditional, Maybe that's why Friday I am in Love. Maybe you can bring us Gärdesfesten 2! This was very good BTW! I enjoyed it all sarcasm aside.! Cheers, or Skol as you like!
Dear Sir
We are honered to be worthy of your attention. And since you ask: Yes, we are what is left of Götiska förbundet but also the Normans, Celts and even Etruscans. We are the last troubadours, defenders of the old arts, craftmanship and spirituality. Opposers of blinded modern materialism and the 40+ GB prefabricated 4-to-the-floor loops with noise of top that come with every DAW. We are incarnations of cultural and historical awareness, dignity, the forgotten voices of the misrable underclasss, and shieldmaidens right to be respected on equal terms with men. We are grateful Fólkvangrs who has been found worthy to tap power from Freyas beauty as well as her Valkyrian temper. AND WE FEAR NO ONE!....but the Spanish Inquisition. They are not particularly fond of our religion. Well, you know what they say: You win a few, you lose a few. To each, his own mom. Whatever floats your wreck, one mans sushi is another mans shit, beauty is in the substances of the beholders bloodstream, drugged horses for fraudulent courses, different cloaks for different folks. Eternal wisdom.
Now that is settled, we wish you a fine day, dear sir. Thanks for asking.
As Mr. Saget would have said to you if he knew you / "I love you man" and he would have meant it. Some notable ideas:
Draggit, Maggot, Wagyuit, Tagitt, Slagit, Baggit, Swagit, and gagit!
Thanks, pal. Yeah, Bob was a kind man, would have love to meet him. Baggit and gagit sounds super cool, wish I would have thought of those. As usual, thanks for tuning in.
Valhalleluja mates. In Nomina Ikea to you. Your music is an ode to all Scandinavian, including well-made furniture with a big heart, and delicious horse meatballs! And all the Rape and Plunder etc, etc. geta skap-góðr
Ahh, Classic dub effects with a really cool synth sensibility. You do know Sly and Robbie are huge influences for me. 3:31 is a nice fin! and then it ends so sweetly, great job mate!
Sweet man, yeah I'm a Dinosaur I love the spaciousness of dub. I blame too much of the green stuff back in the day. And I hope your good wife is ok. All the best bro.
Thanks for sharing this one mate, how do you feel you have progressed through the years, What do you feel you have learned? I am going to check out some of your later stuff as well. nice tune!
Well, I have become a lot better on mixing and mastering. Tho I can feel ive lost some creativity during the years. You learn from others, and start making music as others.
