Oh I forgot, You being a fan of Trance Music, and also having that Irish last name, you may enjoy this master mix of Chicane and Clannad. Saltwater.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lX8uqR2va0
Arguably the greatest Trance tune ever made.

Steve: thanks so much for connecting me with the music of Chicane. You are right, I really do like Trance a lot, but I really only have a superficial knowledge about it, frankly. Had never heard of Chicane or the track, Saltwater. Just spend a couple of hours learning about him and listening to his music. Definitely my kind of music for sure. Is (almost) inspiring me to try once again to make a Trance track worth listening to.

on Take My Breath Away by deanp
There is a lot to like about this one. You need some good mastering (Izotope) software now. The EQ is great on the bottom end, maybe a touch reduction on the High Hgh end. but very good indeed.
Some examples to strive for.

on CLICHE by Mykael
Hey Mykael, I see that you are making, not completely Country, but I find some similarities with (Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) Roxy Music. Here is an album cut that this song reminded me a bit of the style you are heading toward, though this has that late seventies sound.

Awesome mix, kinda modern disco, but you need those Orchestra string sweeps from the TSOP era to really make this feel authentic.

Thanks Steve. You are right. Need more strings, and French horns, and flutes and wah wah chunky-chunk rhythm guitar. Going to give that some thought. Thanks for the links. I am enjoying where you took me with them.

on AI Is Sex And violence by ValveDriver
Lovely intro, and then the meat of the song comes in. In My Day job, I am trying to grasp how to introduce AI as a useful tool for your business needs. So far I love the Editing functions in Word, not convinced that I can create something new in Power Automate, but it does a great job repairing. I have created a few bots in Copilot Studio that seem to get dumber, not smarter. So all is not doom and gloom Cylons or Skynet taking over the world. That Guitar solo underneath after 4:00 is awesome BTW. I want this as the music for my slideshow at my funeral. (Dark thought). Great song Mate, good to hear you on this lovely nihilistic space you have created. Mr. C. certainly sounds like an evil character in a Bond movie who counters Bond by Drinking White Negronis and has an eye patch (I do not in real life have an eye patch).
ValveDriver
ValveDriver replied 25th Apr 2024 - 2 years ago
As with anything that's ever been invented or developed, it has it's pros and cons. And since the Valvedriver aesthetic is a dark and foreboding one, I chose to highlight the dysptopian overlord sci-fi angle. Personally, I do believe that there are a lot of good uses for AI. I'm not familiar with the things you mentioned, but from an artists standpoint, AI art is abso-f'ing-lutely awesome! As long as it's labeled as such. I have played with some of it for my own entertainment. I've even used it for inspiration for some of my own paintings/drawings.

"...and has an eye patch (I do not in real life have an eye patch)."

I say get one. I don't believe it's written anywhere that a fella can't just get an eyepatch. I mean, Willy Wonka didn't need a cane... Just sayin'.

on You Already Knew by Micky
The Bass is killer on this one Mate! I am a huge Heaven 17 fan. I know they did a few Remixes for ( We don't need this) Fascist Groove thing back in the late nineties. I am reading Electronically Yours Part One from Martyn Ware as we speak. I would love to hear what you bring to the table with that tune. Great job Mate!

Yes, I don't get a commitment to do the number. I think it's already stuck with the sub labels that manage their rights here. But I don't want to do it without permission of some kind. I think for use only at LM I could try and do it. Thanks for listening.

on Your just a loop jockey by dimestop
So Musically, I enjoyed the laid-back vibe. You nailed the consonant-to-rhythm vibe I have been clamoring aboot to you for so long. So good Job there. Remember you have come a long long way my friend and are still growing. I like Cinco de Mayo as well and I am glad to see there is no lingering beef. You are both handling this in a professional adult-like way and that makes me happy. Now about those Spliffs. Come to Canada. We have the most open and relaxed laws on Cannabis. I prefer when I need to relax (at my age a Magnesium melatonin supplement works) I like a nice edible beverage. We are deciding whether or not to allow those (2.5mg) in the public like you would buy a beer. It's coming. However I do appreciate the 10mg for the home. Keep it up mate and pretty soon Drake will have beef with you ehh? Great work !
dimestop
dimestop replied 20th Apr 2024 - 2 years ago
thanks for the positives Steven Canada is really relaxed about its use, seen lots of documentaries on the subject and i think you got it right. i understand its not for everyone but when people can go out drink copious amounts of alcohol cause a disturbance fight and damage property fight and insult police throw up all over the streets get locked up overnight and released when your sober with a talking to, no charge, but you could be sent to prison for smoking a JOINT, its stupidity. they tie everything together and think cannabis is the gateway to stronger things like heroin or crack. its just an excuse and ignorant, they been saying the same thing for 50 years theres no substance to these claims theres far stronger and more damaging prescribed drugs that do more damaged including smoking cigarettes

it was just a bit of fun the Cinco reference, he's a great guy in our community, no beef from me, just my funny side. keep listening mate :))

on The Unbegotten feat Twanna by Micky
Beautiful Intro. Bringing those vocals to fade in is a brilliant choice. Such a slick cool mix.Pardon my stream of thought-like approach to commenting. Such thoughtful placement of arps and rhythmic synths and guitar-like sounds. That slide guitar reminds me of some Chris Rea remixes I have heard. This song gets a Fav. This is just a really Tasteful song, excellent job at the end I almost had some Bryan Ferry "Is your love strong enough " vibes with a David Gilmour guitar-like twist.
Cheers

on The helicopters by bringerofDOOM
I love where this is going, there is great potential to grow this one, be careful with using repetitive melodies, you need to break up the Percussive elements every 2 measures to give us some thoughts of what we might be building to. I love the analog synth sound, well done. I have found listening to others using such a harsh kick, that eventually fairing it with a crisp High hat adds to the tension. Good Work.
bringerofDOOM
bringerofDOOM replied 5th Apr 2024 - 2 years ago
Thanks for listening and commenting. I've been listening to a lot of old acid breaks and new acidcore. I thought of adding a high hat, though lately I've been questioning whether to conform to or intentionally subvert genre norms, or genre in general. It's hard to say.

Thanks again for listening, gonna catch up on ur newer stuff.

on Overthinking staring out windows by dimestop
Very cool chill vibe mate. Your next phase is to start thinking about Consonant expressions in your vocals. The best Vocalists have an innate ability to twist the sound by how they enunciate. (It's kinda why I don't sing very much on my work) Anyhoo. I am back. I needed a break to sort out family trauma and morning. I will be working on some new material in 2024. I have been especially listening to Clannad and understanding some of the more esoteric sounds. I did a chat GPT search for my name (Crucethus) and was pleasantly surprised by the results it gave. That has kickstarted me back. Warm regards my friend, always a listening pleasure.

great to have you back around and im looking forward to your new work. sorry to here about your loss Steven, never a good time for anyone, hope your all good my thoughts are with you.
i have really been putting the work in on music over the last 3-6 months, areas i have heard about but didn't really understand clearly sound structures stereo separation chord progressions key scales frequency ranges etc, so im excepting my work to sound better, also i usually sing from a lyric sheet, even though i know the words i wrote them but still use a lyric text for safety but my last two i stood up and freestyled of the top of my head, i think the delivery feels more natural then but i little more difficult too, thanks again for your support Steven its always appreciated as is your feedback

thankyou Steven its always a pleasure to have you check me out, happy holidays to your lot too, im really having fun now simply because of how ive learnt far more on the engineering side, with a number of vocal cuts multi layered dynamic EQ de-easing reverbs delays all side-chained in, thanks for the shout on the faded intro, i use automation alot now as you probably know anything can be automated from a knob to a slider a vocal chop, giving you a better impact and total control of output and yes bro, i get far more pleasure passing on new found skills to others, just like you said to me many moons ago, your a colleague and friend i respect

on No Turning Back by Micky
I liked this one. The most pleasurable vocals I have heard on one of your tracks to date are really clear sounds in that department. I agree with you about the horns, what I have done in the past is to use a little FX magic, like chorus, a bit on the horns with an ever so slight overdrive on one channel will make that sound more organic. Great work
Micky
Micky replied 27th Oct 2023 - 2 years ago
Hello Steven, nice to see you here again. Thank you for the compliment. And thank you for the good tip about the FX on brass instruments. I'll try it out, but not on this track... it's ok for me the way it is. I still see almost all of my tracks as just exercises. I think I still have a lot to learn before I can get one really good track. Thank you for the really motivating support.
Cheers,
