Listen To A Quantum Theory Jazz Song By Kingmt77 | Looperman

Description : With this Jazz Composition, I've taken on the task of playing EVERYTHING through VST's. No loops and absolutely NO AI! Guitarist Mike Stern is by far my favorite. My guitar attempt is inspired by Mike and I played that part through Kontakt 8. For all of the other instruments I just went with the flow. Check it out, let me know if it's good. Enjoy!

As a drummer, the first thing I heard was beautiful drums. Steady, in (not simple) time absolutely. I re-listened to the track a few times because the first one always gives the wrong impression. Technically it sounds great, I was impressed with the final file like quality. I think I would put it in new jazz, so I justify the different passages from the instruments you added. I liked that the bass is often out of sync with the drums, this makes the piece of special technique. Congratulations. In general, it is a very good job.

LINEARFADE! Greetings. The detail you shared in your feedback is very helpful. I'm still learning and this type of track requires a lot of consideration for many different elements. It's also great to know a few listens was necessary to draw a fair conclusion. It's good to know this effort proved to be a decent listen.

Hej, Mark, second time around. Love this tune, maybe less verb on the guitar and a bit more on the flute, but that's just being pedantic at this point. just quality music, and it's put that OMG smile on my face. So there is so much right about this tune. I realize that I miss these complex jazz tunes. Gives me that Brain Buzz. ehh!

Hi Mark,
I'm not even sure if it makes sense to write you a few lines here, because I'm afraid I'll just be repeating myself. But honestly, I just have to say it again: This is another fantastic piece of work.
Your clear structures and your unique way of arranging the instruments so that you can almost see the musicians in front of you simply incredible. Truly impressive. It's a real listening experience, and you've mastered the challenge you set for yourself with flying colors.

Hi Mark, everything's amazing here, as always! You're a real firebrand when it comes to catchy music. The use and execution of all the instruments is beyond reproach ... your rhythmic work is beyond any doubt.
However:
I have to say that at the beginning of the track, I immediately felt that the snare drum had way too much reverb.
I also think that the flute, which has a very prominent part in the middle, sounds a bit unbalanced ... kind of muffled.
Please don't misunderstand me... I'm worlds away from this kind of production, and my impressions are of course competely subjective, but you wanted to know what stands out. So here are my little comments, with the utmost respect.

Best regards,

Micky

Micky Greetings my friend. Its good for your stop and critique. Honestly one thing we share is that you and I agree on where things can be improved upon.

For example that snare you mentioned. I did the drum mix on Ableton 11. Then I flattened the drum mix and It sat on a drive for a few months. In comes Ableton 12 and I cant load the project. So Im stuck with a drum mix thats kinda too reverby. Just a couple of hours ago I deverbed the snare then LP the whole kit. The flute has been harmonized and Im going to make some adjustments with that.

Ill be uploading an update later today. Thanks for the sharp lookout. It aint right till its right!

So back in the nineties, my group of friends had a friend who was a drummer, and we would go on these adventures in Manhattan, never knowing how to properly dress. like going to Tramps and seeing Hot Tuna filled with Hells Angels. So this night we went to see Mike Stern at the Blue Note. We got there early in jeans and sweaters and grabbed the front table right in front of the Stage. As all the suits and cocktail dresses filled the place, Mike came on, looked down on us, looked up at the audience, and gave a cool chuckle of acknowledgement that we were there for the music. I literally could have reached out and adjusted his pedals. Guitar neck was swinging over my head at times. Awesome show. Nice work as always, my friend

Hello Mark
What an amazing composition, with magical moments from every instrument in the band. The articulations and harmonies were used perfectly, resulting in a song of exceptional quality. No single instrument stood out alone, each played its part beautifully...the electric piano chords and rhythm, the bass lines, the enchanting flute, and the compelling drums, all so well performed and blended together. My compliments and admiration.
Best wishes, Anthony

The overall mood of the world seems to be in a pretty dark place, and its a struggle not to let it affect how Im feeling. There's no helping the fact that Im embarrassed to be an American right now, and sometimes im ashamed to be human in general, but i have a secret weapon, and thats music. I enjoy taking some time to sit and listen to the work everyone here in the community is doing, and get my dose of inspiration while im at it. Your song here took me in completely and for a few minutes all that mattered was the journey I was on. Its been awhile since i felt that, thank you Mark. Ive learned alot about jazz in general from your music, but its awesome that you use those saxophones in a way that makes them interesting to me. This one is my fav ive heard of yours so far, and ill likely come back to listen again when i get home and kick back. You helped me shake off a not so great mood, too. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Mark,

Once again, a wonderful example of what's possible in free jazz. I imagine you poured your heart and soul into the meticulous work on this piece.

The title immediately piqued my curiosity about the concept behind it. For me, "quanta" have always been part of physics, and physics is closely linked to mathematics. The combination of the two leads to constant mathematical leaps.

Some might say that this piece contains more irregularity than regularity. However, I would counter that regularity doesn't necessarily mean short, repetitive rhythmic patterns. A sense of order can also arise, for example, in a 250-bar cycle or even in its subdivisions. So, what initially appears irregular can turn out to be a deeper, hidden form of repetition. Are you still with me?

Mark, in short: Your work is incomparable and unique. I love it.

Warm regards and good night, at least here in Germany!

Ahh Manuela! might we dialogue? So to convert the complexities of our subject into the simplest terms or lowest common denominator, let's discuss the topic of "Wave Particle Duality". When I attempted this track, in the creative phase, waves of creative energy and inspiration gobsmacked me in an unusual way. I call it the "ZONE". As far as this track goes, the more I proof listen the more I can hear. So the rough edges I'll smooth out. TBC! Thanks for the stop and critique. Your presence is always heartwarming.

Description : "Oh no - not jazz metal! You're not supposed to mix those genres together." Yes, but someone's got to and the musical gods have chosen me for the difficult task. 9 mins of instrumental jazz metal - damn I sure know how to write a hit song - US No 1 here I come. Anyway - there's some dark, swinging groovy jazz, with Rhodes and guitar as the main instruments, for a few minutes and then some haunting, thumping evil breaks loose. Look out for the powerful synth horn sound. And then it just gets heavier and heavier before returning to some nice chillgroove funky mystery jazz. Instruments played and/or programmed: electric guitar, bass guitar, electric cello, multiple programmed acoustic drumkits, filtered strings, Rhodes, big synth bass, evil synth horn and a few other assorted synths. I assume this has too much jazz for metallers and too much metal for jazzers. So, only for weirdoes like me who enjoy both. This will surely be too odd for most people but I like to think it's pretty interesting and powerful. Let me know how its weirdness worked for you...

Oh and... no AI in any phase of the creation. Written, played, mixed & mastered by yours truly - I'd rather have my mistakes than AI misuse.
