Ok, interesting choice to abandon the circle of fifths to create that very different chord key change. Maybe that's the future,e IDK. I love it when someone gets that experimental. As long as you know why you did that, good on you. Interesting track.

Puss N Boots Into, Sweep to bring us in. Nice bass though. I love the deep female vox, and you have the snare mixed at the right moment. Added to Fav's Nice progressive sound while holding on to an essence of commercial. Really, nice work, mate! This is what separates the amateurs from the pro's.

Awesome work, you should check out the Soundtrack to "Flash Gordon" done by Queen. Very similar sound sets and approach on the instrumentals. Great Job

Back with a vengeance, as they say. Love the dialogue between you and Manuela. Nice synth pad opening, then some nice dissonant chords. I was just reading an excellent article on Judas Priest, when they put out Turbo, and how some fans rejected it for the synth treatments. But let me tell you Brother that shit has stood the test of time. Also, the fact that it was to be a double album called Twin Turbos until the record company said nah, uh.. so ram it down was the second. I love the fact that they always pushed experimentation and genres, like I try to do. This Is an excellent piece of work, my friend. fav'd
ValveDriver
ValveDriver replied 31st May 2025 - 11 months ago
I like the dialogue too. It kind of reminds me of the old days here, when we would carry on in a thread. Now it seems like people just comment to get their track to the top. A one and done sort of thing. Oh well, what'cha gonna do? We can't always be like Ponyboy, right?
I was in 6th grade when Turbo came out. It was the first time I was knowingly exposed to Judas Priest. I absolutely loved the synths mixed with the...we'll call it rock. I was going to say metal, but by today's standards, it's not metal at all. But I still love the hell out of that album. In fact, Priest is one of my favorites. Especially their early work.
Thanks for swingin' by, Steve. I always appreciate it when you do.
I hope things are starting to look up for you. Or, at the very least, getting easier. Sincerely, take care brother.

Very Interesting. I would like to hear what the result of this becomes. Do you have mastering software? I would love to separate the instruments more in the mix. Nice work. keep at this one!
BadNode
BadNode replied 17th May 2025 - 1 year ago
Thanks Crucethus! I just use what is stock in ableton, if I add to this I'll do a proper mix down and adjust the levels a bit. I wanted this one to be quiet and more somber, hence the relatively tame wavform. Thank you for the listen and suggestion!
crucethus
Manuela has a point. I don't make my music to make $$$, I make the music I want to hear. Is that the right approach? IDK. But it's my approach. If you like my music. Great, If you Don't. So be it, art is subjective. If I make some money from it. Great. If I don't. I have songs I like to listen to and make me happy. Music will never be the thing that makes me compromise in my life. That's what my Day job is for. And to be honest, I get to be creative in that as well. But you my friend ...we see eye to eye on the dark stuff. I enjoy your music and creativity, and look forwards to hearing new stuff from yah.
ValveDriver
ValveDriver replied 12th Apr 2025 - 1 year ago
It absolutely IS the right approach. That's why my original tagline here was "I'm here to get good, not famous". Admittedly, it would be nice to make enough money with it to be able quit my day job, but either way, it brings me joy, so, meh...whatev's. I'm good.
Yeah, we do see eye to eye on the dark stuff. Our approach to making it are two completely different methods, though. Yours has always been a lurking darkness brilliantly hidden behind brighter elements. It's there, you know it's there, but you can't pinpoint it creating a certain level of unease. Mine, well, it's just right there.
I have a few new things posted that I don't think you've heard. Drip Christ is one of them. I think my darkest, and most raw, aggressive yet. Check it out if you get the time.
Always good to hear from you, brother.
Take care.

Yeah, I love the darkness of the slavic world. One of my Fav's from quite a few years now is Deep Zone Project from Bulgaria. You both use similar minor chord structures with Unique stabs and Basslines. But you also incorporate modern Goth.

The dark Slavic aesthetic has such a unique atmosphere, and Deep Zone Project definitely has some solid vibes. Love blending those haunting minor chords with a modern touch.
Thanks for sharing and for the kind words!

I don't hate what Tom Jones did with it, but His Royal Badness is where it's at man. I love everything he did and I cried when he left us. I still can't hear snow in April without crying.

on North by Mykael
Yes, I Love that Chord Structure. You have the beginnings of a Monster song my friend. I was thinking you do the verses 2 in a row, then instead of a chorus, do a bridge like Queen did with the song Mother Love. Also, bring that organ up in the mix. Had to listen again to capture the subtleties of this one. Great Work!

on Finally Realised by dimestop
Have you ever thought of doing your vox through a distortion effect? I think that might add some gravitas to your vocals, like a kind of trade-off with the distortion and the clean vox.
dimestop
dimestop replied 14th Dec 2024 - 1 year ago
hi Cru i used a little distortion once on my vocal the reviews more mixed but its not something i tend to do, maybe its about time i collabed with you and you could try all the weird and wonderful things you are so good at. of all my friends here you are somebody i would love to collab with, then i could get a more ideas of what i maybe could try myself, i would use our track then as a reference, i only have a Manuela track i use as a reference at times, its belongs to her studio so i would never share it, you are a far better producer than me, i know my way round a mixing table now but im always amazed with what others have done with my vocal, like Oli @vintagenights and Manus producer Nik, have a think about it my friend you are on my bucket list to work with, in fact you have been on my list longer than anyone to be truthful, but i know your life is busy smile, thanks for the check your visits are always appreciated as is your feedback, you were also the first that really sort of understood me and what im trying to achieve
