Listen To Late Night Feat Ben Edwards Jazz Song By Cosmo | Looperman

29th Mar 2026 17:35 - 1 month ago
Description : The title "Late Night" came first (not related to any TV show). Then I composed and arranged the music to fit the title (backwards from the usual). Ben Edwards (UK) performed the real flugelhorn live. From Switzerland, live drums (mostly) Laurent Wirz. Guitar loop India's SushilBawa. Mr Bawa and I go way back; he joined LM 14 years ago and I joined 17 years ago. My beautiful wife, Vicki, did the voice over. Thank you for listening.

Hey Mate, We should have a chat one day, as I think I would be mesmerized by the artistic connections and stories you would have would be mind-blowing. I am a retro-Futurisic sort of artist and tend to touch the esoteric, but damn, I appreciate the Histoire and ennui of what you have experienced. In my University days, I DJ'ed at the radio station. I met the local talent at the time in NYC, Pepi Marcello of the "Good Rats", who was promoting his own Son's band Marcello, and told me about the upcoming album from Meatloaf on CBS (Bat out of Hell 2). My friend drummed for the Rosenburgs before they kicked him out, as they were on the cusp of success. I served Dee Snyder and his Wife when I worked at Costco on Long Island Many years ago, and they were the absolute nicest people. Every time, I was so impressed as he trekked up to Quebec to sing with Isabelle Boulay on a Quebec T show last year. I moved to Quebec when I met and married my wife (Who used to sing Opera and introduced me to that world), and have loved the music up here as well. I love listening to the new and weird music of the world, and remixed and influenced a few artists, but mostly now I putter around and try to give some sage wisdom to the willing here on Looperman. I took a break for about 8 months as both my parents passed in the last year, and I found it hard to be inspired to write again.

Hi Cosmo,
First of all, warm greetings to your wonderful wife, Vicki!
This is a fantastic song you've shared with us. It has a wonderful, jazzy yet bluesy drive that instantly transports us to the atmosphere of a club. I love those slightly smoky, seductive tones and the rhythmic twists you've woven into the piece.
And I'll echo the last greeting: Good night everyone!

Warm regards, Manuela

(Ben) Benjamin (I assume that's your actual name), I'm pretty sure we talked about this before. Wondering if Gizmo contacted you from the other side. When you have that strong a connection, I would not be surprised if Gizmo reached out to comfort you. Dogs are amazing. I have three now. Each one has a distinct personality. I listened to "Rainbows". It's a touching track. Thank you for listening and commenting. Don't work too hard. Cosmo

So sweet, my friend, I needed this after an intense day back from PTO today. I had a nice Quebec gin & Tonic, listening to some sweet, sweet jazz from you. You have about 3 years on me in the Looperman timeline, but I appreciate this fine music in this fine music. Salut mon ami!

crucethus. I just listened to your latest track and tried to comment but my laptop just kept "spinning". I used to be a third-party software developer for HP. So I have always bought HP products. Maybe time to try a MacBook. Anyways I really like your latest track. I am not too familiar with artists in that genre. I read the long list of people who influenced you. I had Christmas dinner with Neil Young and his then actress girlfriend, Carrie Snodgress, in 1971. He invited me up to his Broken Arrow Ranch and I went to see his recording studio being built. You'll be happy to know he is a real nice person. Good one to have as an influence. I never met anyone else on your list. My band did play a private party for Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones) and Rod Stewart. All old memories. Now I have new memories of crucethus and many other wonderful persons on LM. Thanks for posting your track. I'll watch for future posts. Take care (and keep warm up North), Cosmo

Hi BaoBou, my lastest thing is going through your influences in your profile and finding who I went to school with or knew before they became famous. Of course they would have to be from the 1960s music scene. I went over to Wendy Haas house one afternoon when I was still a teenager. Her boyfriend named Mike (a drummer no one ever heard of) showed up. He yelled at me "That's my girlfriend". I thought we were going to get into a fist fight. I left. Anyways shortly thereafter Mike, full name Michael Shrieve, joined Santana. He then made the now famous Woodstock drum solo. Wendy sang and played keyboards. She later joined Santana on two albums and then the band "Azteca". She married comic actor and brilliant guitarist, Martin Mull (RIP). Wendy and I went to the same high school during the same years. Then there was the time Neal Schon called me up and asked me to record with him. Three years later he formed this band named, Journey. I knew all these people before they got famous like Stevie Nicks who sang in my friend's band, Fritz. Enough name dropping. Thank you for commenting on my track. Ben Edwards (UK) get most of the credit for his brilliant flugelhorn. Ben is a professional friend of mine (Pro friend = I have to pay him to be my friend). He's worth it. His trumpet playing is elite. Take care of yourself. Cosmo

Cosmo! So its 3am and this got me feeling some type of way! This is a sonic feast. Especially with that upright bass. My new track Im putting the final touches has an acoustic bass.

The journey of this track is totally over the top. Very well done!

Thanks for sharing this masterpiece.

I hope Mark doesn't mind me saying this, but Mark and I decided to be Brothers. Neither of us grew up with a sibling brother. We are of similar ages and experiences. I am proud to have you as a brother, Mark. Mark is my second LM brother. Fanto8BC, from France, and I started creating music together over 10 years ago. Fanto's stepdaughter stayed with my wife and I for a week in Palm Springs. Hopefully, Mark and his wife can take a vacation to Guadalajara Mexico someday soon where my wife, Vicki, and I now live. I highly respect Mark's creative efforts. I could never do Jazz Fusion as good as Mark. If you like Jazz, go listen to "kingmt77". As always, thanks for your kind and encouraging comments Brother. Take care, Cosmo

Cyberflares, so you play the bass. Good to know. Would you like to create some bass lines for "Cosmo and Friends"? Yes, it is a double bass. A lot of this track was real, live music but the bass line was a loop. It is hard to find good bass loops. I'm serious. Could use a good bass player. And don't worry about feeling alien. Supposedly we came from Mars before the big nuclear war destroyed Mars. I guess we now go back to Mars before they blow up Earth. You could be the first bass player to return to Mars. Think about it. Take care Cyberflares. Cosmo

great vibe my brother ! i feel the passion and the flugel horn which always reminds me of Chuck M, i like it very much !

Cosmo replied 31st Mar 2026 - 1 month ago
If you remember Chuck Mangione, then you know how difficult the flugelhorn is to play. The hardest brass instrument. Ben Edwards played this live and is an elite trumpet player. I respect him highly. I went to your SoundCloud channel and listened to three tracks. All very well engineered, produced and mixed. You have one trait a good artist needs for success, that is consistency. And of course, good songs. I can say this. I was trained as a producer by David Rubinson of Columbia Records and worked as an in-house producer in a recording studio for years. If you look at my tracks here on LM, I'm all over the place. Jazz, rock, rap, blah, blah, blah. No consistency at all. That's because I love all kinds of music. Anyways, I followed you on SoundCloud and liked your tracks. I wish you all the success in the future. Take care Abner. Cosmo

Ive learned alot about music from my brother over the years, Id follow him around to band practice and later on, id sit by him while he was on the computer making music and id ask him a million questions. Out of the many things i learned, the most important to me was when he said to listen to music with more than just my ears, and also that music truly rewards those with an open mind. Then i joined the community here and I understand those things even more now. Ive been introduced to alot of different types of music that id not heard before, and now i also take inspiration from all sorts of things. I thought it was important to explain that before my actual comment. Because the artistry on display here is mind blowing, and without those early lessons i might not have understood how to truly hear it. Another huge benefit for me is working with so many talented people from different places around the world, and it looks like this song has some diverse creative minds behind it, as well. Superb from start to finish and a great of example of what collaboration should look and sound like. I really like it, to say the least. Thanks for sharing Cosmo

Description : "Oh no - not jazz metal! You're not supposed to mix those genres together." Yes, but someone's got to and the musical gods have chosen me for the difficult task. 9 mins of instrumental jazz metal - damn I sure know how to write a hit song - US No 1 here I come. Anyway - there's some dark, swinging groovy jazz, with Rhodes and guitar as the main instruments, for a few minutes and then some haunting, thumping evil breaks loose. Look out for the powerful synth horn sound. And then it just gets heavier and heavier before returning to some nice chillgroove funky mystery jazz. Instruments played and/or programmed: electric guitar, bass guitar, electric cello, multiple programmed acoustic drumkits, filtered strings, Rhodes, big synth bass, evil synth horn and a few other assorted synths. I assume this has too much jazz for metallers and too much metal for jazzers. So, only for weirdoes like me who enjoy both. This will surely be too odd for most people but I like to think it's pretty interesting and powerful. Let me know how its weirdness worked for you...
