Reaper

Description : (26/16) Linux 1
C - 120
This track originated during a session with my grandson Linus. He determined the sound selection, the musical concept, the keyboard playing, and the title. I assisted as a technician on the Reaper laptop and handled the recording. Later, I expanded the first 2 minutes and 8 seconds with transition sounds, added extra melodies, reused parts, applied automations, and handled the mix.

I's different and I like it, I hope you do too.

Enjoy!

Us Grandpa's are secretly cool aren't we xD
The trance sound takes me back to when i made it years ago.
Nice tune

TheFrenZ replied 14th Apr 2026 - 5 months ago

Thanks Darren, glad you like it. I hope some of the the oldies enthusiasm rubs of on the new generation :)

Hi Grandpa and Linus

You have made a beautiful track together.

The most beautiful thing of all is the collaboration between Grandpa and grandson.

TheFrenZ replied 14th Apr 2026 - 5 months ago

Thanks Rita, glad you like it. It was fun to do.

fanisatt 9th Apr 2026 06:18 - 6 months ago

...like DanMed said , amazing journey guys - great track....!!!! I think that the reference to Linux in the top of your description is somehow related to the grandson's name....and I wish your grandson makes the difference in his life and has the success of the great Linus Torvald !!

TheFrenZ replied 9th Apr 2026 - 6 months ago

Thanks, glad you like it. He came up with the title as after dino's and starwars, he is now reading a book about Linus Torvald :)

Cool Sidechaining to open this tune. Some elements of old School Trance as well. I do like the chord change choices, which show a sense of musicality. I would love to hear the Kick more prevalent in the mix, and maybe some more Bassline, but this is a very nice tune, guys. Well Done!

TheFrenZ replied 7th Apr 2026 - 6 months ago

Thanks for the listen and glad you like it. The opening sidechaning (envelopes) is a combination of a Vital "LD Euro Brass" preset filter 1 cutoff + sitala kick tone.
There is no bass In this one :) But it's a good idea to pickup for a second remix

Now this is some beautiful EDM here, I really dig this! It's like the early 2000's again, takes me back to happier times and a solid club banger! I'll echo what @Kayos2 said, this is some fabulous Armand Van Helden vibes! Killer flow and sound, even better since you included your grandson into the session. Strong work and great stuff! Thanks for the trip back into the "00s.

TheFrenZ replied 5th Apr 2026 - 6 months ago

Thank you, glad you like. Now I have to lookup some Armand Van Helden, most likely know some of it's songs but can't place the link, getting really old ;)
Had to check YT ;) shifting to house? haha ;)

Cyberflares 5th Apr 2026 06:09 - 6 months ago

That was a trip man your grandson has good taste excellent track :)

TheFrenZ replied 5th Apr 2026 - 6 months ago

Thanks, that was funny, I'm behind the laptop, he on the keys, I told him; now we have to add some extra melody, he replied: No grandpa, this is how I want it to be ;)

Kayos2 5th Apr 2026 05:26 - 6 months ago

Wow - you two synergise real good together. Reminds me of Armand Van Helden stuff - v cool!

TheFrenZ replied 5th Apr 2026 - 6 months ago

Thank you, glad you like it. I hope for more opportunities in the future.

You're Grandson has an awesome name, and also an awesome grandfather. I can only speculate about how cool it would've been to be able to do something like this with my Grampa. That is a unique bond, and I can tell its something you value and cherish immensely. Over time, I've been able to hear alot of the small things that you do in your songs, but also the collabs you've done with others, including us. You're alot like my brother, I think, in the way that you both are fans of music in the broadest sense, so its easy to take inspiration from so many things. I hope to hear more of your work with Linus, its especially endearing to me

TheFrenZ replied 4th Apr 2026 - 6 months ago
