The vocalist is a cross between Amanda Sommerville and Amy Lee. Over some nice Phrygian scales and ethic sounds with a touch of hardcore Stadium house, I think you have a winner here.
Hej, Mark, second time around. Love this tune, maybe less verb on the guitar and a bit more on the flute, but that's just being pedantic at this point. just quality music, and it's put that OMG smile on my face. So there is so much right about this tune. I realize that I miss these complex jazz tunes. Gives me that Brain Buzz. ehh!
Steven! I appreciate your time and reevaluating what I got going on here. I'm at the fine tuning stage for this track. Per your suggestions, I'm making adjustments that will be apparent on the next update. Still I'm having a total blast, so I won't stop until It's just right. Stay tuned.
Great Tune Mate, Listen to Manuela. She is a pro. I think we need a little widening of the mix in the stereo field and a bit of compression on the main mix. I like the phased synth pads underneath. This has some great potential. Keep at this mix.
Thank you so much for your advice; anything that helps me learn is welcome. After reading Manuela's post, I searched on YouTube and understood that mixing is the adjustment of volume, panning, and effects (reverb, delay, etc.) that I apply while the song is still separated into tracks. And that mastering is the equalization and compression done once the track is exported to WAV. I've realized I've never mastered any of my songs; I thought that once exported to WAV, it was finished. I've tried compression with the TDR Kotelnikov VST, which is highly recommended, but I can't seem to notice any improvement no matter how many adjustments I make. I have no idea how to use it yet.
Thank you so much for your help; I'll keep trying. Best regards.
Nice, Mate. I love Bulgarian techno and House (DJ Dian), but this is a freaking epic use of the Phrygian mode. Def fav'd mate. Hats off, what an epic tune mate!
Cool Sidechaining to open this tune. Some elements of old School Trance as well. I do like the chord change choices, which show a sense of musicality. I would love to hear the Kick more prevalent in the mix, and maybe some more Bassline, but this is a very nice tune, guys. Well Done!
Thanks for the listen and glad you like it. The opening sidechaning (envelopes) is a combination of a Vital "LD Euro Brass" preset filter 1 cutoff + sitala kick tone.
There is no bass In this one :) But it's a good idea to pickup for a second remix
Bonjour, j'aime beaucoup cette chanson. Cela me rappelle un peu 1998 a New York. Looperman does not allow accents!
The true secret mate is that we are all always learning. You have embraced that philosophy, and the results are stellar. There will never be a moment when you say, Ahh, I've learned all I can. We will always be learning, and we shall be humble enough to realize that when someone starts to get it, they can bring some amazing stuff to the table that pushes us all to learn from them to be better. That's where you are right now. It's a very satisfying place to be. But always be Hungry, always quest for more knowledge, and always appreciate all those who have come along for the journey.
everyday is a school day in music production Steven, you never stop learning the deeper you delve the goodies you find are tastier, joining LM has got to be one of my best decisions, not because its a superb platform, because its not, it has its limitations , but because of its people, thats what makes it worthwhile, i was looking for release from life, a way to express how i was feeling, I've been thro a lot, I tried many things to no avail but music production changed everything when i opened up and met our people I found the real me, from tongue in cheek delivery, chipped software and loop packs to a pro set up, all paid for with hard graft and my way of paying back to something that has given me so much happiness, I'm not just still hungry Steven, I'm starving lol
thanks for the great comment Cru, you do know i consider you as a huge influence on me, from my very early stages you encouraged me to push it further, you said i had something special that I didn't even see, just needs time to flourish keep learning thats what you told me. Im still learning brother but I got a real pro set up now and Im bringing more polished tracks.
6 years ago i was a loop jockey now i do it all myself, thanks to you Steven, your comments have always inspired me, as you can read Im really happy to see you and read you think I've improved, your a top lad
Nice downtuned guitar sound. Great Breakdown at 1:16, Cookie Monster vox is very much in control as well. 1:37 a nice gallop and a nice ending. Great work!
We thank you Steve!
It was a standard drop D on those guitars, nothing more. :-)
The guy in the studio made fantastic job on these tracks!!!
Fistbump,
Danke
So back in the nineties, my group of friends had a friend who was a drummer, and we would go on these adventures in Manhattan, never knowing how to properly dress. like going to Tramps and seeing Hot Tuna filled with Hells Angels. So this night we went to see Mike Stern at the Blue Note. We got there early in jeans and sweaters and grabbed the front table right in front of the Stage. As all the suits and cocktail dresses filled the place, Mike came on, looked down on us, looked up at the audience, and gave a cool chuckle of acknowledgement that we were there for the music. I literally could have reached out and adjusted his pedals. Guitar neck was swinging over my head at times. Awesome show. Nice work as always, my friend
Steven! Now thats a top notch night out! Mike was up front and personal. Hes got this technique he uses with the first few bars in 4 then change to an odd time, then back to 4 with power dripping from every note!
Thanks for sharing your experience and taking time out for this listen. Have a wonderful weekend.
Hey Mate, We should have a chat one day, as I think I would be mesmerized by the artistic connections and stories you would have would be mind-blowing. I am a retro-Futurisic sort of artist and tend to touch the esoteric, but damn, I appreciate the Histoire and ennui of what you have experienced. In my University days, I DJ'ed at the radio station. I met the local talent at the time in NYC, Pepi Marcello of the "Good Rats", who was promoting his own Son's band Marcello, and told me about the upcoming album from Meatloaf on CBS (Bat out of Hell 2). My friend drummed for the Rosenburgs before they kicked him out, as they were on the cusp of success. I served Dee Snyder and his Wife when I worked at Costco on Long Island Many years ago, and they were the absolute nicest people. Every time, I was so impressed as he trekked up to Quebec to sing with Isabelle Boulay on a Quebec T show last year. I moved to Quebec when I met and married my wife (Who used to sing Opera and introduced me to that world), and have loved the music up here as well. I love listening to the new and weird music of the world, and remixed and influenced a few artists, but mostly now I putter around and try to give some sage wisdom to the willing here on Looperman. I took a break for about 8 months as both my parents passed in the last year, and I found it hard to be inspired to write again.
crucethus, sorry it took over a month to respond but I have been working day and night on a new 12 song album "Late Night" and just completed it. Thank you for sharing your life experiences with us. We all need an outlet. Sorry to hear about your parents. I am pretty sure I can speak for your parents if they were like mine (also passed), they don't want their being gone to stop you. They want you to thrive. All those years they spent and shared with you were so you could live a happy and fulfilling life. Take care my friend, Cosmo
Dude, I like this as it has a positive vibe, bring the vox up in the mix and back off some of the FX on the vox, you will have a killer track. I can hear it, Mate!
The method why the madness,,,,, The vocalist used a phaser on himself and I spent days trying to reverse and/or bury...... converting vox to mono became hollow...
lol,,, i had no choice but to let it rip.....
appreciate your excellent ears and experience. Sal
Not the biggest fan of EDM, but I like how you build and then bring it down and re- build again. Structure can be as key as the instruments are. So great job!
I do like this as it has great potential, and you can sing. What we need, though, is some crunchy guitars and not synths (and that's coming from a synth player), but this is a good song that needs some proper exploration.
So sweet, my friend, I needed this after an intense day back from PTO today. I had a nice Quebec gin & Tonic, listening to some sweet, sweet jazz from you. You have about 3 years on me in the Looperman timeline, but I appreciate this fine music in this fine music. Salut mon ami!
crucethus. I just listened to your latest track and tried to comment but my laptop just kept "spinning". I used to be a third-party software developer for HP. So I have always bought HP products. Maybe time to try a MacBook. Anyways I really like your latest track. I am not too familiar with artists in that genre. I read the long list of people who influenced you. I had Christmas dinner with Neil Young and his then actress girlfriend, Carrie Snodgress, in 1971. He invited me up to his Broken Arrow Ranch and I went to see his recording studio being built. You'll be happy to know he is a real nice person. Good one to have as an influence. I never met anyone else on your list. My band did play a private party for Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones) and Rod Stewart. All old memories. Now I have new memories of crucethus and many other wonderful persons on LM. Thanks for posting your track. I'll watch for future posts. Take care (and keep warm up North), Cosmo
Thanks very much buddy, I sort of rediscovered the guitar after loads of piano the past year. I'm now also the keyboard man in a cover band so guitar is now my day off ;)
