Hey, Mark! It's been quite a while since I have listened to some contemplative jazz. The piano and bass intro really draws the ear in, then that brilliant sax. The changes are so incredibly smooth. All the players are obviously top-notch. Great Production. Hat's off to all ya'll!
Hey Mykael Yep its been a minute. Your stop is appreciated big time. As you can hear the music is still musicing! I well know youre a jazz aficionado. And for this track to hit your ears just right is an honor. Thanks for the fave as well. Peace.
Oh, snappy-snap!! This is some great smooth jazz! Everything is in the pocket. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it's definitely getting faved. This track doesn't belong here--it belongs on Smooth Jazz/Adult Contemporary Radio Station! Well, done!
P.S. I thought "After The Love is Gone" would be on your page. if you could point me to ti, that would be great. And, please do let me know when you are ready to join forces on a project.
Your guitar intro is SWEET! What a nice mid-tempo rock ballad. The production sounds top-notch, and the lyrics--beautiful. This family affair is well done!
It seems like you were truly enjoying recording this, and that's what really counts. Your singing voice has a hint of Huey Lewis, which is definitely a VERY good thing!
Hello Mykael, thank you my friend for listening and commenting on this track, its definitely improv my brother....I play it as I feel it and hopefully its good enough to play alongside you talented individuals, I again thank you for listening.
I dont know why, but I really enjoy having relaxing music playing softly in the background while I read, which I do quite a bit. Ill definitely be adding this to my playlist. Its beautifully stirring, ethereal, and thought-provoking, yet it doesnt distract me. I really appreciate you making it available for download. Well one, My Friend in Music!
Hi Mykael, I've so glad you enjoyed it enough to download. And yes, generally with ambient music I aim to make it do both those things - engaging enough to pay attention to, but not so much that it can't just be background. So your comment pleases me immensely!! All the best Chris
That guitar and beat...FIRE! Composition-wise, you definitely have the chops. With a couple of tweaks, this could REALLY be something. As it is, well done, you!
Thank you Mykael, happy you liked it. Maybe the few missing tweaks are actually what separates me from professional musicians :-) No problem I'll continue studying.
This sounds more like mid 70's t o 80's soul to me, and that is a very good thing! I am digging the ethereal vibe to MLC's vocals. The track is catchy, and head-bopping. Well done, you!
Brilliant!! You have captured the soulful music of the early to mid-seventies, when groups like the Isley Brothers, The Dramatics, the Stylistics, and Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes. This "experiment" flows effortlessly and hits all the right notes. Great job!
Hiya, Danke! Patricia's stunning vocals really shine here. The guitar complements her artistry beautifully, making it a delight to listen toway better than most of what's out there on the streams right now. I'm also loving that instrumental break, which is far too brief! This track serves as a reminder of how much we are missing soulful ballads in our current musical landscape . Great work!
Hello Mykael, appreciate your comments and listening to my track....unfortunately rnb was only category available for my genre recognition but did change my description to smooth jazz....more appropriate....thanks for the heads up on that....again thank you for the comments.
Hey, Zoot! I don't know what your music tastes are or who inspires you, but this track has so many vibes going on, from the legendary 70s band WAR to Isaac Hayes and even INXS. The composition is fantastic, the vocals are on point, and the production is top-notch. The fadeout is just right, and I'm really glad you decided to conclude the song in that manner. Great job, Zoot!
Hi Mykael, thanks for listening and taking the time to comment. I'm glad you enjoyed this one. I listen to a wide range of music! I can find something to like in most things from Hank Williams to...I don't know, just about everything lol. I'm a little familar with WAR, just listened to some Isaac Hayes.....pretty legendary. And yes, an earlier mix had an ending as such, but I realised the good old fade out was the way to go for this one. Cheers Chris.
I wouldn't label it as Hip Hop, but it's absolutely FANTASTIC! The beat and lyrics are incredibly catchy. The call-and-response element adds a lovely touch. It's definitely a track that makes you want to nod your head! Great job!
Hello Mykael - yeah, Oli and me did have 'artistic differences' re how to label the genre, lol. We would love to know what everyone thinks it should be. I said 'weird' but Oli didn't like 'weird', lol. Maybe weird/indie with a splash of hiphop, lol. The lyrics wrote themselves thru me, as the loop is so darned strong. Thank you for noting the 'call and response' elements - we really appreciate it when folk listen and give us feedback on what they heard. We are so pleased you enjoyed our work. Peaceful and Happy New Year Liebe und Licht to you too ;) Kay
Wow, Brother!! Beauuuuuuuutiful track. The vocals, instrumentation, and production. I could never sing some of those lyrics (LOLOLOLOL), but all the same, a very enjoyable listen! Well, done you!!!!
Ha! I definitely was in a darker place when I wrote it, but it felt true to me at the time so I figured it's worth a release. Thanks for your positive feedback, much love!
Well, you can always claim it was a reference to Grover Washington ;)
Thanks for the well thought-out comment! Always much appreciated. I have to say I already did that to some extent; I recorded new drums and then new vocals - they're already much better ;)
Traveling this weekend but I'll give them another try later.
Thanks so much for listening and your great advice my friend! Happy new year!
You have a great grasp of the genre, which is truly a talent. This track transports me to the funk era of the early to mid-70s. Your vocal character is unique. However, I recommend taking some time to listen to the instrumental version of the track a few times while relaxing and having your eyes closed. Really allow yourself to feel the grove. After that, try re-recording your vocals. Take your time, being mindful of not rushing ahead of the instrumental. I believe this approach will lead to a much stronger performance. Sometimes ,as singer-songwriters, we need to step back, put some time distance between ourselves and our compositions so we can return with fresh ears. This works for me when I'm crafting a song. Well done, and Happy New Year to you as well.
You're on to something here! Awesome beginnings to what could be a HIT with a tweak here and there, in my humble opinion (there are some patches where the vocal races ahead of the instrumentation). That guitar riff could be FAMOUS!! Well done, you!
When you stated that this was an anti-Christmas song, I didn't really know what I was gonna end up hearing. Firstly, this is definitely NOT an anti-Christmas song. It's more about what is more important than a single day out of the year (my take, anyways). The chorus is BRILLIANT--the best part of the track by far. From a lyricist point of view, the verses need a bit of tweaking--they don't stand up to that chorus. So, I hope you will consider that, because I believe this could be a great not-so-much-of-an-anti-Christmas-song! Definitely one I would sing. Well done!
That's a very good call Mykael! I wrote and recorded the whole thing in a couple hours and the lyrics (and the vocals) definitely suffered. There's also bits of the drumming and the guitar I want to improve, but you're right, the vocals and lyrics are the higher prio.
My plan is to take the weekend and the Christmas break to improve both a bit - then next year November or so give it another go and produce a brand-new fresh and improved version for that holiday season. And man, the idea of you singing my song... that's a dream!!
I'm gonna say the experiment was a success! It starts out with an Issac Hayes vibe--that fusion of soul and jazz from the 70's. Then, it goes off in unexpected places, but masterfully you brought it back seamlessly to the that Issac Hayes vibe. The organ was a very nice touch. I especially like how you mixed it towards the back, but then brought it a bit forward as the track progressed. It's also interesting that you chose to not end the composition as it started. Love it, Love, it Love it!
Thank you Mykael for your nice words and your encouraging thoughts about my music. It is very interesting to try to understand how others listen to what I make. Only imagine how happy may feel those artists that the whole world accepts their works, and people love it and appreciate it. It has to be a huge feeling. It is not the feeling of success for me, it is the feeling of acceptance. So that's why I feel so good with your thoughts and writings. It is a unique team here in LM and it is so beautiful to feel accepted.
My best regards, Anthony.
WOW WOW WOW. Fabulous production from beginning to end. Aside from the wonderful message, the vocals are sitting right in the pocket. This should be playing on Country Radio...it's just that good! Honestly. Well done, you!
