Beautiful, Haunting, Emotional. This song is perfection to my ears. Your vocal are so smooth and in the pocket. The composition is flawless. This is one of those songs I wished I had written myself. I don't say that lightly. Well done, my friend in music!

This is an absolute masterpiece! The raw, honest emotion in this track hits heavy, and the message of wanting to escape reality definitely resonates right now.

Musically, the production is top-tier. I read in the comments that you started this with a bass loop, but Micky recording that live bass was a game-changing move, it gives the song an incredible, organic 'oomph' and grounds the whole groove beautifully. The texture of the guitar layers blending with those tasty, strategic synths creates such a captivating atmosphere.

And hey, I saw your reply about wanting to make something 'modern' one day, lol! Honestly? Dont change a thing. That seamless blend of David Bowie, Pink Floyd, and 90s grunge vibes is exactly what makes your sound so unique and nostalgic. Your vocals are smooth as butter and fit this style perfectly.

Fantastic job, guys. Hats off!

Kia ora, thanks for such a lovely encouraging comment. We're glad you enjoyed your listen. Yes, I was feeling it at the time. I'm glad it conveyed that in some form. Micky did a great job on the bass. That definitely improved it, gave it a much more human feel. As for the vocals, I'm generally happy if they (at the least) just get the job done lol. Got another track in the pipeline with Micky, similar vibe in a way. So no changes there.....Thanks a lot, Zoot.

Zooot zoot, pls don't dig to deep. Intro hit hard, love the guitar layers, Micky did a great support on bass, got a great oomph and for a ballad you need live bass. Syntg action is tastefully and doesn't go into a cheesy area, love that. ##### raw guitar, with the right amount of gain. Love the tone. I'm a huge fan of the singing Zotman, it soothes my soul. Love from a banana

Well, shyt....I had my guard down and got gut punched lol. This was the most pleasant surprise ive had in awhile. I Went in expecting the stuff Ive heard from of late, the garage-gazi stuff. And thats well enough, of course. The emotional depth and honesty here is pure joy, for us anyway. Pnnywze is saying that the message really resonates with him right now, and we all agree. This is Epic Mega-Ultra Upper Echelon Tier, Chris. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent song, the atmosphere is truly amazing, and as Mark mentioned, there is a specific strategy behind its creation. The vocals are outstanding, and the bass line is solid and essential to the overall impact of the track.
Best regards, Anthony

Chris! You've captured a vibe from the past and brought it front and center. The standout for my listen is the texture and flavor of your guitar and how you amped the soundscape with the strategically placed synths. I didn't catch the first iteration, but this one sounds on point. Thank you for sharing.

Peace,

Mark

nice work Chris, great playing as usual and a good vox, I think lots of us would like to escape reality right now, the worlds in a messy place, only yesterday I mentioned to Richard that I'm sick of all the conflict around the world, bombs bring another generation to hate talks bring about peace,

Dude, this is so good. It feels very early nineties, like it brings me back to listening to Marcy Playground in my car as a teenager. Great job!

And yeah, it's hard building a traditionally structured song with just loops. It takes a lot of musical surgery and finesse. That's why I need to start learning a real DAW instead of just using Audacity.
Zootman
Zootman replied 29th Apr 2026 - 4 months ago
Hi Mal, thanks a lot. I haven't heard of Marcy Playground, will have to check them out. As for DAWs, a friend put me onto Reaper when I got into music making. It's all I know but I like it, it's pretty intuitive, lots of good tutorials on line, and it's cheap.... Cheers Zoot.
