Well, I don't know anything about this genre, and after listening to this, I still don't, haha. But I enjoyed it, really creative use of a variety of sounds. Keep on making music. I hope all is well.

on Stiff-Arming Stars by Evisma
Evan, I think most of the areas of critique have been covered (personally I think this is really solid work and there isn't that much to critique). Your bass playing is your strong suit, but I think you have a future as a six string gun slinger, haha.

I've had my eye on a PRS Custom 24 for a while, but I just can't justify the big bucks they are asking for it. So maybe I'll hit the lottery at some point and not feel bad about dropping $3,000.

I have a little secret to share with you concerning guitar chords. Instead of using standard tuning - E, A, D, G, B, E...try using drop D tuning (just tune the low E string to D) and then just bar the E, A, and D strings for your chords. Open would be a D chord (works as a major or minor chord), first fret is an Eflat chord, 2nd fret is an E, 3rd fret is an F and so on. You can pound some pretty intense rhythm work just using those 3 strings in drop D tuning. Maybe give it a try and see what you think.

Anyway, stellar work as usual. I really enjoyed it. Here's to a great 2015. Hope all is well.

Thanks for the kind words on the track. It is appreciated.

The PRS I got is an SE Custom 24, (tobacco sunburst), and sells for around $800. I got mine from Sweetwater on Black Friday for $400! Not a lot different from the USA made ones besides the tuners and pick-ups, which are easily upgradable, and I think the body thickness. Still, it is smooth and buzz-less, goes from single-coil to humbuckers, just really, really happy. I guess the PRS' are supposed to be the cross between a Strat and a Les Paul? They are scale-wise.

Thank you for the input on rhythm playing. I know drop D very well. Everything I do is in drop C#. Drop D with everything(including low D) down a half step. I think everything I have on this site is in that tuning.

I shall take your advice and put it to good use. Thank you for the help and taking the time to write something.

Take care.

on Moon Cave Rave by GramoChopin
Hey Neo, I'm no expert on rave, but I do have a pretty good ear for quality music and this is really well done. There is an awful lot going on, but you manage to weave it all together skillfully. I liked that change at the 2:00 mark as well...a "happier" feeling through that section, not quite as dark.

I can tell you all of the crazies in Las Vegas would be jumping away to this one. Well done my friend. Mix is special as well.

Happy holidays Neo to you and your family. Here's to a great 2015. I hope all is well.

Well...I hope it sounds good to you SB. I only deal with truth and honesty but it seems like your being honest. Especially with your past reviews. And I'm no expert at rave either, I just love music. Interesting fact about my productions, I rarely ever create by traditional standards. Meaning, I kind of just do my own thing. But of course I still try to implement essential elements with different types of music. Like the constant kick drum hit in a track like this. Or the slower bpm of hip hop. Or the fast pace and roll to a dnb track. Anyways, I keep blabbing on. Really appreciate the listen and feedback. Happy holidays and happy new years to you too! peace

EB, like Pete said so well, you really are amazing. You move from genre to genre with ease, always composing such powerful pieces of art. Truly chilled to perfection. Nothing to critique here, just a massive amount of admiration for your skills. I hope you and your family have a safe and happy holiday season.

Well done!

Hey Robert, I heard TG's version of this, but thought I would stop by to let you know how much I enjoyed your composition. This is tasteful RnB, done exactly as it should be, with just a touch of jazz. Great piano licks, and the strings are like the cherry on top of a sundae. Beautiful work man, really beautiful. Here's to a happy holiday season to you and your family. Thanks for sharing this gem with all of us.

on Exit Countdown by Orlando51
Wow, how the heck did I miss this one? I always know when I hit play that I am going to hear a professional mix, and you did not disappoint. But you did something else, you managed to compose one of the best songs I've heard in quite some time. I think TG said this was a highway song, and that is my thought exactly. Since I travel quite a bit to see our granddaughter, I will download this one (thanks for that) to help all those miles pass by enjoyably. FANTASTIC WORK!!! This track belongs in a movie my friend. Happy holidays to you and your family Orlando.

Haha, Barry...you didn't miss just this one...you actualy missed
quite alot of my newest stuff (with Ed on board) like for example this one: http://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/161805 or maybe this one: http://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/162598...ofcourse I'm joking and I don't blame you for that because I know myself how hard is to keep the track on all those tons of material here on LM...there's just not enough time for everything..^^
But foremost I'm here now to say big thank you for your generous feedback and I'm really happy that you appreciate the track so much.:)Just drive carefully if you put that thing in your car stereo...I also wish you and your family happy holidays.:)

With much appreciation_____Orlando

I'm definitely old enough to remember the days of Earth, Wind and Fire and Tower of Power, and this one would fit nicely in either of their wheelhouses. The percussion on this is top notch (but all of your drum work is so, so good). You also managed to skillfully weave the other instruments around the percussion.

An enjoyable listen, Scott, added to favorites, and a huge thank you for getting my day started off the right way. Well done. Happy holidays to you and your family.

And a big thank you for your kind words, Bear, and getting my day started nicely with those words.

Also, thanks for your comment on my drumming. Being a drummer, it's always a very integral of my music, so thanks for noticing.

And a Happy Holidays to you and family, as well.

Cheers,

M, terrific work here. This one is one part jazz, one part rock, and one part fusion, stirred up and blended nicely to give all of us a terrific listen. When you have a great collection of musicians such as the ones gathered here, you will always end up with a great track.

Enjoyable from the very first note to the very last. Well done by all of you. I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season.

Hi Bear,

Thank you so much for your kind words. It really help after getting an upsetting bullying session from another member.

I know you've been here awhile and was wondering how you handle these nasty people. This is my first time. Do you just ignore them or stick up for yourself and your friends? I want to be friends with the members here. I've met some really nice people and musicians who, as you see, I work with.

Anyway, it's my problem, not yours. Just wondering what route to take from an experienced member.

Ciao,

R.P.S., you are a force of nature. I still cannot believe you aren't some experienced 35 year old producer who has been at this for a long time. I had no idea what moombahton is, so I'm glad I stopped by - got to hear a great song, and also a lesson on genres. I like the structure on this one, well thought out, and well delivered. I think the length is just fine, especially since it is a tune that could be playing in clubs.

Well done young Jedi, really well done. Man, by the time you get into your 20's you are going to be dangerous. Outstanding effort. I hope you and your family have a great holiday season.

Pat, I think you are a freaking genius, haha. You are like this mad scientist, building instruments, equipment, then applying your inventions in your work. Hey friend, thank you for your kind comment! I have always fancied myself as a bit of a mad scientist, and I can definitely lay claim to the mad part... scientist though, I don't have the college degree. This one was a bit tough to mix, with 40+ channels and all, but the real challenge was being satisfied with the vocals. Had to capture the perfect moment, and I'm thinking it was as close as I could get. You have made me happy with your words, and I appreciate it! Sorry for the late reply. Hope that you had a fine end of the year!

on Stay featuring Farisha Haque by RichieWinn
Richie, I always know when I hit play on any of your tracks, I am going to get an auditory treat, and a master's class on composition and production. This track continues to meet and exceed the high standards you have set for all of your music. I am constantly and continually awed by your musical prowess. This is beautiful work (it always helps to have such great vocals to work with).

Fabulous from the very first note. Really well done my friend. I hope all is well.

Hi Barry

Good to hear from you and thank you very much for your comments. I always like reading your views on my productions. So rewarding to have one's work appreciated.

Well I think by now you know my game plan with all of this. Keep it simple and let the vocal shine. It's an ongoing challenge every time I put a track together and I always find it challenging to achieve that goal. In this particular case Farisha's vocal is amazing and requires a very sympathetic treatment. Glad you liked the end result.

All good with me. Chester getting colder but off the New Zealand and Australia next February for a couple months and enjoy some winter sunshine. What a life eh?

Best regards

James, stellar work as usual on this one. It is never easy to work around a pella, but this one is so seamless that if I didn't know better, I would have thought it was recorded in a studio. Scott's drum work is exceptional (as usual) and your instrumental work is on par with his work.

Great mix and master as well. Nothing to critique on this. Outstanding effort gentlemen (and lady). Added to favorites!! Love that synth (is that hooked up to your guitar). I hope all is well.

Bear as always it's great to hear a nice compliment from a great musician such as yourself.

I have to tell you the truth, I have been playing piano and synth via the keyboard and trying to become a master like you are on keyboard. To me using loops and midi files that are not mine is cheating. I guess I pulled it off.

I hope all is well with you and wish you and your family a Merry Christmas.

Let's hook up after the holidays and do a collaboration.

Man, this is nice and you could really take it in a lot of different directions. After your intro, at the 35 second mark (or thereabouts) you could come in with some heavier electric guitar, bass, and drums and morph into a metal/alt rock section, then back into acoustic, then back into the metal/alt rock. Add some strings, really bring the volume up on the metal sections. Put some vocals in it, stir it up and I think you have a potential for a hit here. Really well done. I hope all is well.

I am not sure how I missed this one, especially around Halloween, but I am glad I discovered it. This had to be a "nightmare" to try and capture all of the meter changes, and have the chaos all meld together to make a cohesive track. Really innovative and a lot of fun to listen to.....looks like the 3 mad scientists got together and made this one work really well. An enjoyable listen and a tip of the hat to all of you. Like Ed, I don't listen to a lot of EDM, because much of it sounds the same. You, however, have found the secret to keeping my attention...you vary melodies, throw in dissonance, use dynamics intelligently....I guess what I'm saying is your compostional skills are really good and you translate your ideas into great music. Really well done (and I liked the quirky percussion outro - I never saw that coming). Well done, really well done. I hope all is well.

Bear! Thank you so much for the kind words. It's great to see ya! Hope you have been well!

Truth be told I'm having a lot of trouble accessing that place in my head where the music usually comes from and its been a very unfruitful year musically speaking. I'm struggling writing on my own too since I don't play any instrument particularly well. All a part of the process I guess. Currently I'm trying to get my new home studio room (a whole room!for me!) set up. Here's hoping I do something with it! :D

Great work Joe. Your voice does sound quite a bit like Iggy Pop, and that's a great big compliment for sure. Like SJ suggested, the vox just need a little bit of reverb and placed a bit farther back in the mix. Other than that small critique, I wouldn't change a thing. Well done Joe, really well done. I hoped that you like it, `cause it´s your music.

I made a little update with some more reverb over the voxs. And a few little changes on the levels and so but not sure :) like mostly :) about the result ...... itz much more easy to say "a bit farther back" then to do (for me)

Hope i didnt change it to the bader, if, tell me and i reupload the old version :)

Thanks for the listen and the helping words

Nicely done. You accomplish quite a bit using only a few instruments. There is plenty of room in this one to add some brass, sax, maybe even a bit of heavier rhythm guitar. It stands on its own, but if you ever wanted to take it to the next level, it has that potential as well. Good job. Hope all is well.
