Hey Pat, I'm glad I stumbled on this one, especially since today is the solstice, haha.
Mix is just so crispy and nice, but your mixes are always the best. I enjoy it when you add vox to a song, and you always have a great message to deliver (the lyrics are terrific). That little bit of synth work at the 3:30 mark was really special. I thoroughly enjoyed this one from start to finish. You are this wonderfully talented, mad musical scientist working in his lab cranking out the hits. Well done my friend. Here's to a happy holiday season and a musical 2016. I hope all is well.
Bear, my friend, it's great to hear from you! The solstice turned out better than expected for me this year. All signs point to me spending the day in court, so I put all of my energy into getting the album done. Didn't want it sitting there half formed if I spent a little jail time. Instead, everything was dismissed at the hearing, so I could use the solstice as the official release instead! You're too kind about the mix! I think that you and I have similar aesthetic preferences when it comes to audio, regardless of any genre borders. The vocals on this have their flaws, but I think I succeeded in conveying what I wanted... and as a bonus it ended up reminding my wife and I of Shriekback, who one of our favorite groups. That synth at the 3:30 mark, as well as the related synths in a couple other parts were designed on the microkorg. Even after 12+ years, I still love working with that synth. Many of the keys are dead from overuse, but it is great as a module or vocoder... I have better controllers now any way. Several people give the "mad scientist" respect, and I can fully appreciate that. There are days where that's exactly how I feel - compelled and obsessed with new sounds, devices, and ways of making music, to the point that anything else gets put aside. Thank you for your words and listen. Hope that your holidays were enjoyable as well! Have a good year!
Great bass guitar work on this one, it really anchors things nicely. It's easy to tell that you have paid your dues over the years. This one has a really nice driving beat, with some outstanding transitions. Well thought out and a great delivery. Solid track from start to finish. Happy holidays. I hope all is well.
Thank You Bear, How Very Astute Of You, i have been playing for 21 years now and am glad it shows in my work, and happy holidays to you too, and also thank you for your compassion, Life has handed me alot of lemons but the lemonade i make tastes great, Thanks Mate!
That was the best 2:39 I will spend today. Beautiful vocals, beautiful piano work, and a beautiful sentiment. He's a lucky guy to get such a great birthday gift.
Thanks for sharing this one with us. It is a special song performed flawlessly. Well done. Happy holidays to you and your family. I hope all is well.
Can't believe I haven't replied yet! Please do know you put a smile on my face as soon as I read your comment after you posted it back then. Thank you so much for your kind words!!
Mark, brother, I am so stoked you did a cover of this track. It's one of my all time favorites of PF. This is really, really well done, but that is nothing new. Great instrumentation, and the mix is just solid as it gets. Had to grab a download (thanks for that), and added it to my MWR collection.
Outstanding! Happy holidays to you and the family Mark. Stay warm dude. Hope all is well.
Bear,
Thanks for coming by for a listen and DL. TY also for the compliments. I really took this one serious. The synth solos were the most enjoyable element to do in this puppy. Merry Christmas to you as well my friend.
Mark.
Well, you definitely know how to make an entrance, haha. Wow, great tasty synth work on this one. It does have that club vibe as Ed referred to. I've always been a fan of that big phat synth sounding lead, and this one has plenty of that. Really nice work. You had from the start and kept me all the way to the end. A great way to start my day, bobbing my head and having some synth jam with my toast and coffee, haha. Well done! Happy holidays. I hope all is well.
Good morning Bear.
Wow such kind words coming from legends like you and Ed.
I am really humble.
I hope I didn’t spoil your lovely cup coffee and nice worm toast….Haha
I ‘m glad you liked it and thank you for such kind words
Merry Xmas to you all.

Enzotic, it is always a master's class in sound design and engineering when I stop by and listen to your tracks. This mix is absolutely flawless, seriously, I cannot believe how crisp and clean it is. Jamid stated nobody can top this one, and I happen to agree.
Outstanding from start to finish. I wish I had something constructive to add, but all I can do is give you massive amounts of respect. Stellar work. Happy holidays. I hope all is well.
Very nice work Stacy. Glad to see that all of the rains in your area haven't slowed down your creativity. Very good chilled beat that will really be something when you get a rapper to lay down some vox. The appearance of the pads is a magical moment, especially with the string accompaniment. Effective, yet subtle all at the same time.
A beautiful piece of work with solid dynamics and phrasing. Well done. I hope all is well.
Nicely done...love the way the sustained piano note carries the beat along. Very nice moment when the strings come in. I think the mix sounds really nice. This one is definitely ready for someone to lay some rhymes over. It has a real suspenseful feel, and could work in a movie or video game.
Nicely chilled beat that should serve any rapper well. Excellent work. I hope all is well.
Well, I'm a little late to the party, so most everything has been said, but I will give you my two cents worth. I've had the opportunity to work with some really talented guitarists over the years, and I can honestly say it would be an honor and a privilege to work with someone with your skills. I'm not sure if you do any session work, but if you don't, you really should check it out. Great acoustic guitarists are hard to come by in this day and age. I love your technique, your clarity, your timing, your control, and the bond you have with your guitar. It's a beautiful thing to listen to.
Wonderful work, and a beautiful interlude for me tonight as I wind down after a busy day. Thanks for posting my friend. I hope all is well.
That meant a lot to me, Bear :) And I'm open to collabs, depending on the chords :P I only know a few haha. I couldn't tell you the names of a lot of the ones I play. But acoustic has always been a love of mine. It's what I started with, after piano. There's just something about guitar that makes me want to improve my timing and clarity. There's nothing more beautiful than a guitar played simply and played well. :)
This is a wonderful composition, and is really musically solid in every aspect. The mix is pretty good, and the panning on the sound effects at the end are especially effective.
One thing that may help with mixing of an orchestral work - try to envision where the different instruments are set in an orchestra. Visualize the seating chart of an orchestra and then try to place your different instrument tracks in those positions in your mix by using panning and volume. For example, normally you would find violins on the left side of the conductor as you face the stage. First chair forward and more to the left, second chair a little behind them and a little more toward center. Use panning to place the first chair further to the left, then less panning to place the second chair. Adjust the volumes just a bit (always add some reverb for depth) and you will get a 3 dimensional effect on your strings. Do this for the harp, piano, and timpani as well (all of these instruments are on the conductors left). Then place the tuba, trombone, trumpet, clarinet, bassoon, oboe and flute directly in front of the conductor (so very little panning, and the horns will be in the "back" of your mix). The right side of the conductor will see viola, cello, bass, french horns, and percussion. Again, pan the bass all the way to the right, cello closer to center and the other instruments behind in the mix. When you get done, I think you will find that your track will sound exactly like being there in person. I hope this makes sense and isn't too confusing.
Anyway, sorry for the lengthy review, but it really is a terrific piece and one you should be very proud of. I hope all is well.
What great feedback. Makes perfect sense. I really appreciate the time and effort you took to make these suggestions, Bear and I will try and get my head around it with the software. I am such a newbie with the tech stuff and have trouble concentrating enough to get it all together, but your advice is valuable and informative. With input like yours I can only improve! Many thanks and hope all is well with you too.
Wonderfully chilled tune GO. You grab the listeners attention from the start and this just keeps getting better - from the intro all the way to the end, a really great piece of art. Bass line is really genius in the way you timed it, nicely done. There is nothing to critique here. You set the bar really high with this one, and I'll agree that it is some of your best work. Well done. Thanks for sharing. I hope all is well.
Thank you so much for your words! I really enjoyed making this, and consider this my best! Much thanks to SkwishFish for his help too! The keys and bassline really took things to the next level.
Nicely done. It's not easy to figure out a song in two hours. I love acoustic music, so this one was a pleasure to listen to this morning. Keep at it, practicing your craft will only make you better. I hope all is well.
Just when I think I've heard all of the great guitar players on Looperman, I blindly stumble upon another. God, this is really good. You have mad skills that translate beautifully into real, honest to goodness, music. That guitar solo is just about as tasty as it gets.
WONDERFUL!!!! From start to finish this one is a hit. Definitely added to favorites and man, I am glad I found your work. I hope all is well.
Nice work Steve, this one is so chilled it cooled off my morning coffee, haha. Seriously, it really is a nice mix of some really good loops. You really have grown as a composer and arranger over the past 4 years or so, and have now set yourself apart from the pack (in a good way). Really well done. I hope all is well.
Thank you Bear.
It takes me a long time to find the loops I like but when I do it falls in to place nicely. The bad part is I actually like my own tracks and have to listen to them ??? Is this wrong ??
Top shelf material Richie, but I would expect nothing less from you. Lisa is such a tremendous singer that it requires a really talented musician like yourself to keep up with her....she sets the bar really high, and you clear that bar with your excellent musicianship and production skills. Two super talents working together to make one hell of a song. Some of those chord modulations are just sooooo good. Thanks for sharing a great song with all of us. I hope all is well.
Always good to hear from you - I hope all is well with you too.
Thank you for your comments. You are very kind. I will make sure Lisa gets a view of your comments too - she will be knocked out. Much appreciated. Your words on my musicianship and production are very rewarding. Again, thank you so much.
No story my friend, but a huge amount of respect from me for your incredible skills using only midi to create these wonderful cinematic pieces. Great use of percussion and strings to drive this one along. The choir is fantastic, really high quality work.
It is difficult to give you any advice to improve this one, so all I can do is stand and applaud your effort. Big, epic, wonderful track! Well done maestro. I hope all is well.
Hello dear Bear, im honored about your comment im somewhat happy to see im not alone who can't give advice on someone else perfect track.
The main reason why I love doing midi only projects its because I start from absolutely nothing to create something like Mora. I found this way unlimiting my creativity!
with loop or samples you always have to watch about the BPM and scales that's makes me sick.
im also happy to see I did reach some kind of professional work like yours.
Peace and Handshakes from Byleth
p.s was a pleasure to read your comment over and over again!
Elena, I really like this. I love the frenetic feel that morphs into a calmer period and then back to frenetic again. It has an Evanescence quality to it, and that puts you in good company. It also has all of the elements necessary to make it current sounding - something you could definitely hear on the radio. Really well done. Keep cranking out the hits. I hope all is well.
oh I like Evanescence very much but i don't think if I can creat something like that .
your kind comment makes me very happy Bear .
thank you much much for that :)
Elena
Alex, I think Steve hit the proverbial nail on the head when he called this one brilliant. You really are not only highly skilled, but your execution is absolutely flawless. Very few people could have taken Pat's work and then morphed it into something this different and something this good.
Outstanding effort by both of you. Really incredible work Alex. You have my utmost respect. I hope all is well.
I am still learning how to record real instruments (church organs) which is a part of my work as a restorer of historical monuments here in Poland. Also there is some amount of piano music I really want to capture, mostly classical.
Producing and recording using daw is different as it is for me more about the artificial manipulation (I mean creating musical 'illusions') than playing everything 'live' honestly. I am not that much active as a performer/keyboardist currently but there are another ways in which I can still somehow continue music-making. I will definitely return to playing at some point and maybe will upload more live recorded music on looperman then as well.
We put much energy to make "Premonator' project happen and I am glad that Spiv allowed me to publish this particular version of the song. Thank you for your support and your nice words on this unconventional composition. I much appreciate that.
Domenico, terrific work here. Bass line is just so solid, with that wonderful guitar work drifting nicely along with the bass. Definitely one that goes well with my morning coffee. Chilled to perfection on a crisp fall morning.
Beautiful work my friend. And Franco's always a great addition to any song. I hope all is well.
All any of us can ever ask is that our music paint an audio picture for the listener, to take them where we want them to go. You did that and did it really, really well. I wanted a lot more of this one, but I can always hit the "play" button again, haha.
Seriously, brilliant work. I think you have a real shot at winning this competition. Well done TA. I hope all is well.
Yeah, it seems to be the consensus that the track should've been longer. I think I made a fair trade-off with the door opening and closing, because you can just hit reply and ride the haunted house all over again. YAY!
Thank you for your wonderful praise. I'm really glad that you enjoyed the track.
I am in Las Vegas quite a bit, and have heard some of the music pumping in the clubs and I think this one would do just fine there. I really like the minimalist approach, focusing on the percussion - I love great percussion work. The bass is a nice steadying influence as well. Great little beat that I really enjoyed. Not sure about the genre, but who cares about genre, haha. Well done. I hope all is well.
Well, composing, performing, mixing, and mastering this one in just an hour, extremely impressive work. Terrific song with great instrumentation to accompany her wonderful vocals.
I give this one a 10 for effort, and 10 for execution, and a 10 for the final product. I'll also declare you the winner of the "one hour challenge," because I can't believe anyone else could top this. Really well done. I hope all is well.
Hey, thanks SBM. I appreciate the kind words. I must note that I did update this the day after I submitted it haha. I liked the song so much that I probably disqualified myself by updating it haha.
I only recently discovered PD's music, but when you throw your hat into the ring with him, well, then it's pure musical magic.
I loved everything about this one, from your guitar work, to your wonderful driving bass line, to PD's keys. There is nothing to critique here my friend. Massive props for a job really, really well done Domenico. Congratulations on the new addition to the family as well! It's a great thing and I know you are happy being busy with him.
Thanks a lot Bear; sorry for the late reply but in the last months I don't have much time and I am trying to spend all the time I can dedicate to looperman just listening to the music: we are really lucky to have many talented guys on this website ... and of course you are one of the most talented!
Take care, Domenico
Let me preface my comments with a welcome to Looperman. Sorry for being two months late in that regard.
Now to your track - beautiful pad work in the intro. I'm no expert in this genre, but I do know when a piece is beautifully crafted and professionally mixed. It is obvious that you are highly skilled. I have nothing but praise and respect for this track. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride this morning. Well done! I hope all is well.

Outstanding work Silverman. Definitely captures the vision of folks marching off to war. That section with the arpeggios at the 1:50 mark is really, really nice. The great thing about this tune is it holds the listener's interest all the way through.
It definitely deserves a video of some kind. One of your best I think. Added to favorites. I hope all is well.
Thanks Shorty for your kind comments here and elsewhere.
