Sorry I'm just hearing this now. I really loved how you mixed funk with house and dubstep. That's just brilliant! Your sound choices are great and the organization/general structure of the track is on target. I wouldn't change anything about this track.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful unique piece.

Wow Kevin, really outstanding work, especially the keyboard in the funk section. Very nice transition into the dubstep portion of the track as well. I actually like the last part of the song...kind of like ending with the bridge, instead of the chorus. Great use of both genres. I think you have a future in funk/RnB if you so choose to go that route. Great work. I hope all is well.

That drop is sick. You took a chill step approach to it, very tasteful. That violin work is amazing as well. Great work on this entire track!

One of the smoother takes of this comp. I liked how you brought the oldskool vibes more than the newskool stuff. Both are interesting together, but that beginning half is where I would play it from again and again. Thanks for sharing, is a nice expression. Keep at it, Peace.

Solid funk grooves a plenty from the off sett. Like the build up into the dubstep beat, you do this kind of stuff really well and the blend of the two genres works really well.
You're on fire at the moment mate.
Keep on keeping on!

I agree that the cymbal sounds a little strange, but for lack of time I think you did great. Good job on this one.

I'm digging the overall mix and arrangement on this one for sure! I am thinking that the ride cymbal around 3:20 is a bit one sided, and it feels pretty compressed, and I guess that's my least favorite part of this track. Seems like a lot of people don't get into that last part, but I thought it sounded pretty good. It seems like chosing a different sound for that lead melody in the outro might get a very different reaction... like something less artificial and a little quieter maybe? I get the feeling after this competition is through I'll be pretty sick of funkstep. Very interesting effort to say the least!

I am thinking of editing the ending the last section but its hard to find time to do it. I was just able to get this track done with the little time I have. Now i must go change the thermostat in my truck in 3 degrees outside :(. Your comment is well appreciated ! Thank you

The intro captured me instantly. Very smooth and relaxing! Very nice combination you pulled off man. You just created something incredible. Your transitions from funk and dubstep is so slick, and once it's onto the specific genre, it sounds like it's own personal song with their own styles. I couldn't fav this fast enough! I encourage you to make more of this, my friend! Cheers!

Good stuff man. I would've liked to hear the dubstep section take over the track more because to me those were the best parts of the track, i.e., after the 1:30 mark and again at the end. That's just my preference though. Overall, I thought it was a great tune.

Yea I tried to keep it pretty evened out between the genres as to not dominate one or the other. Thank you for the kind words man .

Nice work on this, the bass is speaker shattering on this one. Interesting usage of electronics to give it a modern feel. I like the melding of the two genres. Nice interpretation. But then I always like when someone does something out of the box like you did here.

Thanks man I appreciate you takin a listen.. Yea I wanted to really exaggerate the bass on this one, it just seemed right for me lol. It was difficult to transition from straight funk to dubstep I ended up speeding up the tempo to 160 at the first build up and jumping back down to 140 so it would have a little more punch. Thx man!

soundhound 28th Jan 2015 12:04 - 10 years ago
Yep...You stepped outside the box on this one...
Hot mix, love how you put this together, could use a
guitar or something to bump it up a notch or two....

I must say I'm not sure about the end of the tune, the melody
the keys are playing, doesn't seem to fit the bill for strength
in dynamics, I think I would've chopped this up a little differently...
But over all top shelf project....Well done...

Peace...TG.

very cool indeed. really nice work with the loops. It starts off as smooth jazz/rnb but I really liked that funkstep after then.
The last section (from 3:40) stands out a bit though. You might simply repeat that section from 1:28 again instead introducing a new material. Maybe it is just me but some melodies there don't fit the jazzy convention at all.
Overall the track sounds really great. Congrats. Alex

My intention was to leave the strings in the last part and it sounded good but it just didnt have the flair i was looking for. I came up with that lead and tried to leave the strings in with it and it just sounded way to muddy. lol you have me rethinking my ending now. Thx for the good words man !

Description : If you're looking for Skrillex and his cronies, you've come to the wrong place. It's not that kind of dubstep. This track opens with a nod to my fellow Vault Dwellers and Wanderers of the Wastes, and transitions into a deep, dark celebration of the Horror movie genre. Some of you will get it. Some of you won't. Either way, I hope you all enjoy it. Thanks for listening. Take care. V.

Description : This is my new single! It's a little different style than I'd normally go for (deeper and darker), but I really liked the instrumental, which is my HakaN96, and just HAD to do something.

Let me know what you think of it! My mixing/mastering skills arent the best. I put the song under the Dubstep genre (because of the instrumental) but with all the singing i'm not sure if it's more popish or not. What do you think?

If you enjoyed the song please like my Facebook page! I would love to hear from you!
