sounds good to me DjRymZ...its is a catchy little song that doesn`t take long to stick in peoples minds....I havent tried anything with my android tab yet...but just downloaded a program from Auria that the pro reviewers have been putting on top of their wow lists..You should be able to just save your mix to the sd card if you have one..or internal memory & transfer via usb to your pc ...or use one of the free bluetooth transfer apps...I`m just trying to figure out how to do the same thing...nicely done....keep on...Ed
I was going to hit the download button but I see you are not ready yet...but you are certainly off to a great start...and I`m glad you got that piano involved again....if its your fav instrument just do it SJ...I really like to hear piano played by someone with your skills....I hope you get this one finished the way you want...its going to be really good (I`ll check back in hopes of eventuially catching up with the next rendition)....Ed
Hi Tonality....the introduction part of this one reminds me very much of a famous Canadian singer called Leonard Cohen...while I do not understand the words, you present them with feeling and the acoustic guitar is good accompaniment for this one....well done...keep doing the music...Ed
yes...that whole intro section in particular carries a very dark vibe evanclachos....the drums ease off the darkness a bit but it continues to carry a menacing sound...that section that comes in with piano around 5 min is like a breath of light that carries all the way to the outro...it ends up being a pleasant listen but the earlier sections would work well for the soundtrack to some dark/menacing type video scenes....good job...keep the music rolling....Ed
Oh Yeah....that guitar hit that first checks in around 1:33 is freakin deadly.....to my mind this one is just a fantastic mix of what is best about dance & rock Steve,,,steklo indeed does a great job on the vocals...right on key...appropriately expressive delivery....I will check out his page (I am terrible at trying to compose around vocals but I`ve been spending some time listening to what guys like you come up with)...This is top notch stuff...ready for commercial release & it would be great if it replaced the stuff my radio plays...a big well done to both of you...Ed
Cheers Ed...yes good vocals makes the music part far easier as they set the tone...the guitar is Rob Papens RG vsti and although I've used the rhythm stuff a bit I only just found this setting which does sound pretty good for a fake rock guitar. Really glad you liked it.
Steve
creative ideas dgalantic bringing in those orchestral sections and piano bits...brings the genre a long way up from its humble beginnings...nicely done...& the mix sounds fine to me & nice to see a hip hop mix with all the dynamics intact & not over-limited...Ed
pikozz.....this really is an exceptionally well done piece of music...It certainly deserves to be heard by many more of our friends here on LM (maybe you should mark it as Featured?)....it surprised me a bit, having quite distinct Spanish elements, but with a pop beat and a slight R&B vibe...and it all mixes up well with the voval ...Is that you singing?...If so you have an excelent voice and expressive delivery style.....enjoyed this one...Ed
Hi Jeicee...just caught up with this one now while touring through the Folk genre a bit...this is really good...can`t imagine some vocalist not jumping on this little treasure (I`ll check over on your page just in case you found a singer)...in any case it really good listening as it is...I enjoyed it...well done....more please...Ed
well done raleighbull...those key and little vocal bits give it an almost R&B kind of vibe that get along nicely with the beat.Couild maybe benefit from a little more bass...even if just an atonal sub hit with the kick every few beats...enjoyed the listen...Ed
Hi SJ...just catching up with this mix now & operating in my usual perpetually unorganized mode...much has already been said I see....Its certainly different and just dam good.I wondered about the amount of reverb on the vocal but I`m liking it by the time I get to the end..(if you want to improve the clarity of the vocal & leave the reverb as it is...just adjust the reverb pre-delay setting so that you have somewhere in the range of 100-200ms or more of sound before the reverb kicks in..great job.....Ed
I have always known that emotions and musical talent produce the best songs....the feelings ooze from this one SOS...there are times when what others say though well intended just float on by and the heart is all that is heard....beautiful job on a great song.....Ed
Yeah, right, Ed...so where is my "fav" then?? (^^joke)
Well, I did everything (almost^^)I could, but I couldn't have done anything if I wasn't gifted with your wonderful blueprint
(the very foundation of this work)! Ed, you can't drink your beer without a glass, can, bottle or whatever which holds the substance, right? Ed, it was a real honour helping you filling your glass to the top!:)..Thank you for that...
I recall listening to the first version Maff...dont recall if I faved it but I sure am going to fav this one...for a whole lot of reasons...starting with the depth of lyrics...your really pleasant vocal delivery (I`m reminded again of Brian Ferry)...accompaniment that is wrapped around the vocal..really well done and not intrusive on the vocal...The nice production values and those little extra vocal bits that add space & variety....So, I guess that in my mind makes the whole thing just a really good song...Just an excellent job Maff...Bravo.....Ed
Not quite happy with the second verse and the master is still a bit 'harsh' somehow, so I want to try and smooth it off a bit, without flattening the dynamics by over compressing...such an art... esp when it comes out as an 8MB MP3...but your kind words are wonderful encouragement!
It's basically there I think, just need to give it a rest for day or two and come back to it fresh.
Peter....you must be the only guy around here thats played with Amy Winehouse...this is cool...and the raggae thing really works (its not a genre I`ve tried yet...but I guess there are a lot of others too)....much resect for what you do here...I am just no dam good at composing to acapellas myself...very nicely done...and lots of room to add to this one if you decide you want to...Ed
I see you just signed on to the Loop Kev...so welcome....I used to stop by here looking for drum loops (I hate programming midi) till I hit the track tab & did some searching by genre...found some fine talent amont the crowd & a very supportive little community of musicians/producers..Reading your bio I was struck by the frustration/pain you must have had being so rudely pulled away from the guitar (its been a long addiction for me...I I`m not looking for a cure)...You have a fine voice and your strumming seems to be back in full swing...very nice job on this one....keep on...and if I can lend a hand just hit my contact button...I`m just next door in Regina where we`re freezing our asses off lately.....Ed
Yes I did! I found it via twitter, and it looked like a good community to get some much-needed feedback so I did what I always do... both feet first! :)
It was really tough for those years, felt like walking around wearing earmuffs and dark glasses in a dark & quiet world. Even with limited capacity, it's elating to be able to play again. I feel like I'm me for the first time in years.
Thanks for the compliments - I really DO need to get more vocal practice in after all these years of hiatus.
Next track I post, it's more vocal anchor, and I'll allow downloads for that one. But be warned: it's a tear-jerker.
And I may just take you up on that offer... soon! :)
I`m not well informed on Bangra clindsay but gotta say that this kind of mix really is effective in developing that driving rhythm/beat mix that gets the body parts moving...very creative stuff....I have used a lot of ethnic instruments in my mixes over the years but have yet to come across samples on the Indian instruments that I`ve been able to include...great job on this one...and its great to be able to listen here on the Loop to this kind of music...I for one, would like to hear a lot mor ethnic influenced tracks....keep on...Ed
ah yes...another gem from the vault...(keep digging them out Mark)...and proof that you always did have your composing & production chops together...I don`t know what you might want to change but after listening I would be inclined to say "Oh Yeah"...and consider it done...Its got a great R&B flavour and the guitar adds a touch of blues..Definite fav for me my friend...keep em coming....Ed
Hi Ed
Thanks for you usual honest and respected opinion. It has certainly given me more confidence to upload some of my earlier efforts!
Thanks again, take care and speak soon
Mark/Larry!
well...perhaps ypu know that piano is an instrument I could happily sit and listen to all evening when its played by a player like you doudei...that is some very fine improvisation and expressive playing...enjoyed this one...Ed
many thanks for the kind compliment, Ed! glad you enjoyed it that much. i have quite a stage-fright and am not too comfortable playing in front of other people, but i guess i could make an exception :)
Yeah, guess it is a bit of a soundtrack piece, with the sparseness in the first minute or so and the choice voices (which is a synth) and shimmering pads and stuff. The banjo is kind of the guide navigating us through that section.
The main section definitely has some bounce and I worked really hard to layer those drums (multiple kits) and keep them interesting and powerful all the time.
There's country trainbeat, reggae, funk, hard rock and more in those drum styles.
The other track is much more rocking and psychedelic but kicks off with some bouncy reggae. If you want to hear it, here it is:
I never heard the term "Chillout" as a music genre until I found Looperman and after being around a while I think you set that standard Steve...you get that smooth vibe but it comes with all the production values & right sounds that flow, & evolve & blend and just float you along with them....I understand why some are saying "Longer"...its good listening even as it ends a little before it should....great job(as always)...I know where to stop in for lessons now....Ed
Hey JJ...you don`t need any advice on your compositional thinking at all...and the transitions going on here are smooth & right on...I could have listened a lot longer...judging by the results I`d say just keep doing what you do...I know about the patience thing very well...I have trouble finishing what I`m doing a lot as my head picks up a new idea....well done on this one...Ed
I know I`m going tom be hitting the fav button when my first listen ends Kenny...This is top notch original stuff...your vocal & the way you`ve backed it up is a perfect match...and by the way,.....you waaaay under-rate yourself badly as a vocalist..I really like your vocal character & the kind of natural way you deliver it...and just as a side note..really like the production values overall..you could maybe pump a bit more bass but the whole thing is too good to get at all picky about...Just been reading some of the latest on the new audio normalization values for production & tracks like this one will live nicely in the near future (with the end of loudness wars) while the limited to death mixes we see lots off are going to sound as bad as they are....I digress....Its all dm good mate....keep on...Ed
Hey Ed, thanx for listening and your kind comments. I think a few people have hit on the bass thing and it's defo something for the next mix, although someone told me the other day that the music didn't match the vocal at all, so you can't please everyone. What might sound good to your ears, won't necessarily sound good to others. I knew the industry would catch up with my abnormal, normalization values eventually!!
Thanx for your continued support man, oh and by the way you are my Featured Artist of the Week on my show tonight on Loop Radio!
great to hear some top notch acoustic on the Loop...just a super job all round MCLA (nice sound on the acoustic gtr) & nicely balanced/produced......I sure would bring up that vocal a few dBs its really well done..& delivered with lots of character...really well done & much enjoyed.....Ed
