I love Kyle`s clear vocal style....SJ...dont hold back on the piano.I love it..Its one of the most expressive instruments ever & I will never get tired of it..I could sit in the corner with a cool beer and listen to a piano player all night......I wish I could play it properly but I am just self-taught and quite inept....I understand Behnam`s point about pitch...its a little noticible at the intro but the airy nature of the music would only make it recognizable by a skilled musician like Behnam...and its great that we learn from one another here on the Loop...Its also great that we can create and listen to music like this that is a piece of individual art...and real expression...as opposed to the canned stuff our radios play...Good for you..I always enjoy listening to what you come up with and this is no exception....as danke has said....its different...and its special....Keep doing it and if you have too many piano parts over at your place just send them over to me....all the best...Ed
Hi again Ed!
Piano is my first and last instrument, really - I also listen to plain pianomusic from time to time, there is nothing like it.
Have you heard this amazing guy playing all the Coldplays hits on piano?
Here you have him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5mYJrpx0gI
I used to listen to him for the longest time, over and over again.
But this FL pianoroll piano isn't the same and I'm trying to develop an ear for guitar and bass and also other sounds, it's probably better to learn to use all sounds and not just the piano...
But if I had a real piano and could play everything on it I'd probably do just that! =D
Ok, about the pitch - from start I thought about having no vocal in the beginning and just have Tara coming in half way trough. Why didn't I stick with that idea?!
Maybe I'll just do that now then.
Thanks Ed for listening and leaving some thoughts!
Dig those older tunes out and give them some air Mark.what with the new sound toys that keep on coming along I bet you can even have some fun with them..like this one & it doesn`t need anything you haven`t got in there already.....nice moving - along uplifting kind of vibe that floats you along with it....very nicely done....Ed
Many thanks for taking time to listen, and thanks for the advice, I am certainly looking at some of the earlier ones and will see if they may benefit from a dust and makeover!! So pleased you like this early track of mine.
Very best wishes,
now thats interesting...like the intro acoustic in 6-8 time signature ..really quite unusual yo hear two different time signatures in the same mix and still have it all work...I see you are receiving a variery of positiove responses and that is an achievement...and I enjoyed listening to this one as well....Ed
hey ! thank you much much to made me know why that loop fitted such hard in track !
oooffff yes ! now i checked it out again and yeppp! that has been a 6.8 loops !
I hadn't paid attention to this true point you hint .
i just felt in love with that loop and tried to use it.
this is good if ti works .
Ed you're a knowledgable musician and i hope to always see
your review in my music boxes.
thank you very much for these word you dropped here.
Elena
oh yeah...this one is a real pleasure on the ears Steve..definite 11 out on 10 in my book and a fav...and thanks for the DL...it will be on my MP3 player....standing ovation from this ol boy...Ed
Hi Ed, really glad you liked it. I was a little afraid it was a bit twangy! This is a really great compliment coming from one of my favorite guitarist!
Cheers
Steve
Sure its a bit repetative...but its totally good old rank rock...the kind that makes you jump in the mosh pit & not worry about the guitar...which has that Gibson/Marshall squak that the genre is noted for...some of need a fix of this stuff once in a while just to keep a balance...way to go Kevin...got my fix for the night....feels good....Ed
I love it when I find imaginative stuff like this clindsay...its a great combination of musical elements that you have married together so well...really like the outro part in particular...great job....keep on...Ed
a very haunting style of vocal...appropriate to the loneliness that you mention....I look forward to hear it with the musical accompaniment that others have mentioned...Ed
I am hearing a very talented lady of the West coast...and at the end of the music waiting to hear her sing some more...I think your voice will be the star of much of what you do musically Prelude....now I must go and listen to your other track and hear what else you do...Ed
:)
me..! blush ! :)
aaa...I know for a musician like you it's funny if I say I really didn't know how should I continue this idea !
I'm a fan of Opera , theatrical and sound movie but problem is lack of science and skill for me .
to be honest I should say I'd tried something better if I knew you may listen me !
this was so great to see you here Ed .
thank you very much for stopping by and support.
i really appreciate your time and comment.
Hip Hop has come a long way since its origins...I think that is likely a result of the different instruments and ideas that artists around the planet have brought to the genre and I think It has added a lot more musical quality to it...the backing vocal & piano bit works really well and you laid this one down really well SikStyle...Ed
Hot dam....you lift everything up into the clouds...and while it may seem simple, those special touches you bring to the mix are just the ticket Orlando...love the violin of course...but the piano parts are a great touch (you should do more of that)...and the seashore effects at the intro & outro set the scene...I`m sitting here with a great big smile on my face...you are a thoughtful musician and a fine talent..You should be proud of tyhis one....I am......Ed (havent forgot about those tracks...just have to find time to finish things a bit & uncertain about what might work)
Haaa...Ed!! I was just packing myself to bed, when I noticed you came around....will talk to you on e-mail(not here).^^
But anyway..I have to say big thank you for your great feedback..you made my nighttime happy as it can get!:)
Talk to you soon, soon, soon...
All your tracks that I have listened to seem to have some kind of smooooth vibe to them that makes for great listening Steve...some music (even the stuff we like) can get tiring to the ears after a while but to my mind this is the kind of music that a person could spend a lot of time with....nice variations in the beat & instrumentation..That break around 3:45 is great...Its sounding really good up here a few K North of you (where you can put a minus sigh in front of your temperature & it will be pretty close to ours)....stay cool mate....Ed
It was good before Anders and I hear you`ve bumped it up even more with your changes...really like the horn part in particular and I cant remember exactly how your original version compares, this one is a real smooth ride...the synth lead part is well done and while the distortion is a bit different it does distinguish it from the usual and that is often a good thing...You obviously put a lot of thought & work into this one and it shows in result...a big well done to you...Ed
different James...and thats always an accomplishment...I would not be a good source of advice on the genre..but my observation would be a bit similar to PDRaka..the beat and rap sound like they were recorded at different tempos that dont quite line up (I`m just listening to the vocal in the same context as a singer...so maybe thats not applicable)...keep on doing it your way....Ed
yeah, i get what ya mean - my verse wasn't initially wrote for this song so I get what ya say about the beat and vocals at different tempos, anyway thanx for the feedback :)
Hi liaviathin.....really like the bass in this one...this is the track you linked in the comments on my "Sunday morning" tune......but didn`t hear anything in the mix that sounded like guitar....Ed
Haven't been making any songs lately. This selection is an improv with the energy of how happy I felt to get my ax back in working order and trust when I dig in the note will be there in tune. Letting you hear I could play guitar so you would know where I am coming from on the solo #####.
You sing better than Neil Kenny...no #####...somebody will nail me for saying so, but Neil should stick to writing even if I totally love the odd tune he has done (Prairie Wind album is a classic in my book)....you`ve got some good company on this one and it really sounds good....super bit of work guys....Ed
maybe its just me...but I thought I caught a little bit of Celtic vibe in the guitar line (I (mis)spent a couple of years of my youth down the road from you in Glasgow (Brigton)....anyway, very cool track Extraball...a lot different than I expected when I seen the electronic genre up there..but its a dm good difference...different mix of instrumentation and a nice subtle little melody line that draws you along with it....well done...enjoyed this one...Ed
Ah yes, Glasgow. Always have a good time when I am there but haven't been down in a while. Thanks for listening and commenting. I think it has a few different genres in it and i thought electronic would be the best generic genre to put it in! :)
when I listen to the electronic genres (that I dont claim a lot of knowledge about) and hear some nice chord progresions or key changes I usually think "I must be listening to a keyboard player"...as it seems part of the musical development of those who play the keys involves a whole lot more musical and music structure knowledge than those who do the DJ thing....I realise that the genres tend to follow particular (dance-based) structures but for a listener it is always a bigger pleasure to hear the musical elements as well....very nicely done Polyfronetic....If I wasn`t so lazy tonight I could dance happily to this one...Ed
Hi Ed, thank you for stopping be and the kind words. Yes i play everything has piano keys. At the moment i use a Yamaha AN1x Synthesizer and Ableton Live as DAW. And about the lazy thing... often i am also a little bit lazy when producing new tracks. ;) Again, thanks for visit! Martin
yeah...you`ve got something different going on surya94...and in a good way...its nice to see genres mixed up a bit & taken in a new direction...the backing tracks could likely go with several genres (like the string stuff)..almost like cinematic hip hop...well done.....Ed
hey ed...
finally i get to hear from ya...
as ive heard from others ur like the best here and i am a big fan of ur music too...
coming back to this song.
First of all i was a bit hesitant to mix different genres, but it came along pretty well.
and im glad that u liked it.
Thanx for stopping by and sharing ur views...
Kudos to you domr for a new direction in your music production...a nice smooth dance mix and a good way to start the day for me....it also has enough of the pop elements to cross over in that direction....well done mon ami....Ed
Ah Orlando....you have raised the haunting chill 100% with that smooth violin that you play so well and with feeling...great job and many thanks for your good company on this little musical journey...couldn`t be better.....Ed
Ed,Ed,Ed...that percentage of yours..ahhh...I will say nothing on this one...I just know you are the only genius behind this chill...and I think it can always be better...we are just humans, yet with the potential to improve ourselves day by day...
Anyway, 100x thanks for having you on my musical journey!:)
You`ve got a really nice vocal delivery going here Larry...and the backing is smooth & right on the R&B chart...the only thing that kept getting my attention away frommthe song itself was the female backing vocal that is in the highest register...well done....Ed
thanks for the respond, I really appreciate the love. yeah I figured the woman voice in the background would catch someones ear, but it just for a demo anyways right now till my band put together the original.i just lay them down and post them hoping they can help some one threw their day. thanks
Hey Larry...you`ve good a nice poppy "Now: sounding mix going here...I`m biased of course so I particularly like the little acoustic rhythm guitar bits (haha)..the whole thing is really well constructed so kudos to you on the composing...Guess I am another who is not a fan of autotune when its been used to the point that you can hear it...however, you used it as an effect here and thats a different story...I just read an article on autotune where the writer was comparing its current prevalance to that gated reverb drum sound that was the rage for a while in the 80s...but for now its a common part of whats happening in pop music etc...There was one little part at .20 sec in to the mix where I thought that high synth line was a bit distracting...maybe it could be pulled waaay back there...works better where it is in the mix with more compant....Anyway...you`re off to a good start...keep it going...Ed
Hi Ed, thanks for taking the time out to listen, and as usual for your valued comments, which I will be taking notice of. As you rightly say, autotune was used for effect, but probably a bit overdone! So I will be revisiting these areas when I revise the track. Really pleased that you like the composition though, and will keep it going. Thanks again for your time Ed.
Best wishes,
Mark/Larry!
