Love the stand up bass, sounds great. Nice mix of instruments, cool keys, piano. My first track of the day, great way to get it started. Liked how you finished with the piano with some great jazzy notes in there!

Well done, great track!

on Habits- Slow Ballad Cover by lrini
I've never heard the original either, sorry. I must say the lyrics are great, lol. Vocal performance great, piano could use some punch like some compression but it's well played.

Your singing talent is right there ready to be heard, you are certainly powerful. Like others have said and if you can afford to do so, look to improve your vocal recording setup. A digital interface, condenser mic, pop filter and you will get some great quality recordings and gain control of those pipes. :)

Cool cover, made me smile. Welcome to the loop!

on IamLess - Shapes In The Sky -rough preview- by IamLess
Excellent track, I love acoustic music! But is this some kind of cruel trick? Where is the rest of the song? lol.

I see that this is a work in progress, still it sounds great, live and some great playing and singing. Hope you finish it up, like it so far.

it's getting harder and harder for me to put how i feel into words to sing. I guess you could say i'm keeping a lot of things inside.
One day i will finish this and maybe than i will be a bit happier.
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, it helps out so much.

What a great collection of sounds, a pleasure for my ears! I like what beerling1970 said about "tubular bells", I can hear that reference once I read that. Is that my mando loop in there? cool.

It is a nice recording as well. There are a lot of instruments with similar frequencies but you managed to keep them all separated in the mix very well. Listened on my headphones, sounds great!

Wow, nice track! The whole track sounds well mixed and well constructed. The vocal pad/sample is nice, gives the song a human feel. Cool relaxed but upbeat and positive vibe.

on Looking For You by Spivkurl
Sorry I missed this one and the late comment. I must say the bass really has a big part in this track and being a bass player I can certainly dig that. It seems a little more subdued than some of your more recent releases but it's still a cool, interesting track with lots to keep me listening.

It's good you can keep your music fresh and not stagnant, you always seem to change things up but stay within your own realm.

Great as always!

Hey friend, no need to apologize regarding timing of a review. Not like I'm in a hurry to replace the song or anything. After releasing the album I'm mostly in sound design and instrument building mode now, so don't have much for new songs yet. Subdued, yes I would agree... it was a very sad and angry time, and I allowed myself to just do a pure expression sort of work. I think it was helpful for me. I've had my stagnant moments as well, but it's worth fighting against it on a daily basis. Thank you very much for the listen and comment!

The mix sounds great, clear. The vocals work great with the music. I like acoustic guitar mixed with any style of music. It is upbeat, a bit mainstream but a little bit more Indie Folk/Pop to me. Nice job!

on Stay with me till dawn featuring Pauline Wright by RichieWinn
Well done Richie and Pauline! I am not familiar with the original so I have no expectations going into this. Wow! This is such a great pop track. There is a nice vibe here, you have created a peaceful easy feeling. Beautiful lyrics, the strings give it a classic pop feel. Excellent!!

And I do dig that last note!!

Hi Wayne

Always good to hear your comments - so positive. Thank you. The original is worth a listen if only to hear the quality of the production (you can actually hear some tape hiss!) and it makes you realise how powerful DAWs have become in recent years. The vibe is quite close to the original too but Pauline's vocal is all her own. She is a great talent and wonderful to work with. Thanks again for stopping by and taking the time to post comments.

Best

Thanks allot, Wayne. Glad you like it. Yeah, I'm kinda stuck in the past. The music back than was so pure and real.

I have another oldie in the works that's a real toughie. It's 'Fantasy' by Earth, Wind & Fire. I have over 20 tracks, so far and plan to add more.

Cheers,

on Today We Need Peace by Ensam
I was reading your response to staticnomad about how you produced the vocal parts, that must have been a fun challenge, like creating your own language in a way. I like them, they are a nice touch.

Not my typical music listen so I can't really get into the ins and outs of trance but I did like the track. Nice choice of instruments, things all seem to work well together and it's a great mix.

Well done Simon!

Thanks Wayne, yeh, the vocals were kinda the focus of the experiment and I am really satisfied with how they worked although frustrated by their stiffness, brought on by the amount of work involved in creating a small phrase.

We gotta push ourselves in different areas in order to get better..... ;)

on Feeling love by FreeRadical
The mix sounds real good, you still using headphones to mix? Oh, I feel the love, lol. 10:26 long, I could never do that, you seem to have a knack for it.

Nice transition between tracks and I like that "eh" vocal sample. I also like the drum pattern in the last part, that is a good way to make things interesting in a long track.

Well done, as usual!

Thanks man, I'm currently using a knackered out old pair of PC speakers instead of headphones, they have a pretty awful dynamic range if i'm honest but you can just about hear everything. I wasn't sure about this track to be honest but i posted it because it's the only one i've managed to finish this week lol.
Glad you could give it a listen as always.

Dig the whole feel of this track, cool world vibe to open things up then a big change of pace. Such a cool way to incorporate rock with middle eastern sounding instruments. The short breaks are my favorite parts, lol. Drumming is intense, the guitar rocks and everything else just fits perfectly. Great track!

Instant fav and I will dl this so thanks in advance.

Really great performance on the singing, the vocal layering is sweet and I dig the lyrics! I love singer songwriter stuff, a guitar and singer is so honest and exposing to a degree. Great job, glad I could contribute in a small way to this wonderful track.

on Hard Dance MIx by FreeRadical
This one is getting the blood flowing this morning, starts off great and the fade in of the synth is nice. The vocal samples work. Like the change at about 3:20 when you bring in that kick and that introduces you to the next section, good transition which seems to change the intensity a bit.

I know how much the saw synth gets used in electronic genres but it's one sound I have a hard time absorbing. Maybe just because I was raised on more organic sounds. It is effective as the song progresses though.

Pretty cool mix, well done!

Sorry for the late reply. I went to our local fairground and i went on that thing that goes round and round and round which makes you dizzy and then throw up. You guessed it! I went on the beer! Anyway, i always like it when you stop by because our styles are so different and if you can spot something positive in my electronic noise then that makes my day. I love saw sounds as you've probably guessed but secretly i wish i could play stuff like you.

on How To Stuff A Wild Bikini by ScottB55
Excellent job Scott! You've captured the feel of that era for sure. Great choice of instruments, fitting for this type of music. I have always loved music from this era and style because they feature great catchy guitar riffs and fills and usually a great guitar tone. Even though some artists from that era used to play slower surf songs, like Link Wray for instance, but I always preferred the upbeat, fun danceable surf style.

Everything is great here, I like how there is a lot going on but there is space in the song to give each instrument it's time to shine. Well done, as usual!!

Hey Wayne,

I agree 100%, my friend! I have a hard time finding something I like in todays music. I remember putting the 45s on and playing my cheap little Sears drum kit to them. The Ventures did a cover of Hawaii Five-O, and my Jr. High band played it and I asked the band director if I could play my full drum kit to it for our concert.

Anyway, thanks for chiming in and leaving your kind words.

Cheers,

Great track, loved the lyrics/vocals, right out front and easy to understand. The piano is very well done and adds that element in the background that catches your ear but your main focus is on the vox. It makes you want to give it another listen or two just to let it all soak in. Well done, enjoyable listen!

Thanks Bro!! You are one of the musicians on here that inspire me with unique instrumentals and tracks as well, and i know it sounds like it, but i used no vox, simply many vocals of myself layered, and singing them all slightly in a different tone :D Looking forward to hearing back from all of you guys in the future, and in the competition. Props, and peace out,
