on Internet by Rhodesy
Generally I dislike a track labelled "cinematic" without the accompanying film and dialog, but I enjoyed hearing this one. The guitar work is interesting and unusually used. Cool arrangement as well. I can't say that I agree with the philosophy which you spoke in your description - "The internet is massive,it is an unstoppable Beast now and it will take us where it wants us to go!" This is a very unsafe and irresponsible way to think. Internet is not an animal, nor is it unstoppable. It has no thought process, and no control over us which we do not chose to allow. It is simply a connection between circuits we own, which have interfaces built for humans to use. These circuits and their interfaces are tools for us to use whether it be for good or evil. Allowing a device, or group of devices, to control our decisions and the future outcome of our lives is a big mistake. That is like sitting by the phone waiting for life to call you. Either way cool song. I just couldn't help but mention my reaction to your words.

on Peace Of East Elves Now Final Version by MGproduct
When the page reloaded after leaving my comment, the waveform had completely changed... maybe you just updated this? It looks far quieter now, very thin waveform which doesn't use the headroom available. Might want to check into that.

on Peace Of East Elves Now Final Version by MGproduct
This sounds pretty nice as well. My initial reaction is that the real instruments are pretty quiet compared to the drums. My system is turned most of the way up and I needed to strain to hear some of the passages. Possibly this is what you intended though, as it is final version. I did just use a power drill, so it may be my ears, but I almost never turn up my speakers that far unless I'm in a different room. That's the best advice I can give. Like your other track, I find the composition pleasing. I still find some amount of sampled feel to some instruments here, but it could be I'm mistaking an effect such as a gate or expander for the choppy sound of a sampled one shot instrument. Please don't take my suggestions as being critical, just trying to assist you as you have asked for. I enjoy hearing your tracks!

on Oarmens Sky Demo by MGproduct
Well, the composition is pretty nice overall. I guess my best tip is that you use a real guitar and/or piano, since your profile states that you play both of them. The sample based composition is quite choppy, and guitar is one of the instruments which is least believable as a sampled instrument (at least to my ears). Like I said, the writing is good, it just needs to be brought to life.

on Menil by Evolushroom
I'm thinking this was uploaded right before the site rebuild to have been almost completely swept under the rug like this. And to not really have plays, I'm guessing it was reset when the site came back up. But I'm glad I found this one, as it has a cool sound. 2011 was a strange year for music from what I remember, but this song gives a taste of what is to come in a way. Like it sounds very 2012 to me. Great throbbing low end, and creepy pitch twisted synths. A little acidic, just like I like my techno... and any other genre really! :) Tripped out stuff, I dig it! Fave!

on Pax Europea by Orlando51
Hey this is pretty relaxing and enjoyable! I like the composition, and the apparent simplicity of this. As for peace in europe, I don't pretend to know much about life there, but I do know that peace must start internally to each person... then can come respect... with respect, peace should follow naturally. This is not what I see happening. Oh well, I love the song! Sounds great! Fave!

Hmmm, don't know how I didn't see this one! Thank you for the link! I'm liking the glitchy stereo stuff going on, which doesn't focus on traditional structures much. Cool organ sound in there too! The vocals are pretty good for this style of song. Has an unusual industrial edge to which I can get into. Totally engaging song! Glad you do have something new! Faved!

I think this is a very chill track like you intended. Things don't really sound off to me, only maybe that a delay or two have an unusual time period... but that is all personal preference really. Seems to have a signature sound for you. I enjoyed listening, and it took me away for a moment. Great work!

on When it was Rights INSTRUMENTAL by Evolushroom
Was disappointed not to find recent additions to your tracks page, but found this one to be without comments... I'm enjoying it a lot! I don't listen to dubstep much anymore, but this seems like so much more than dubstep. It's not overly harsh, and it has some really cool synthesis going on! Can't really fault this in any way, it sounds very cool and interesting. I would say I would do vocals for this, but I need to cut down on my drinking... ha ha. Faved!

on Hey Komm doch mit by joecramer
Very comforting song in it's idealism... I think you've expressed yourself very effectively here. Your vocals sound very vintage in a good way. I don't care about genres too much, but if this is folk, it is probably a new kind of folk. The second version is an interesting change for sure. I think it's a lot more folk (and possible better) without the pads and drums... but that is just me. I like all of this offering, faved!

thanks for the kind words Spivkurl

I am delighted that you have written on these two songs a comment here. Cause you're the real reason why I did these two versions

as you have probably noticed, these are about the same text as the one I've used for cooperation with Phatkatz.
http://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/167958
you wrote a commentary on it and I answered that it is actually the text of a positive song and that I will maybe even make a different version
and as I had found the guitar, everything was clear.
that fits

as seen, there are now three versions and I think all good
and this is very rarely the case. mostly disappear from the scene two. there remains only one. Here it's different.

First, I had posted the track under drum and bass but that's also funny. but the bonus song was clearly folk.
therefore it's okay

I had two voices for the second version
and that sounded almost like Simon and Garfunkel LOL

thanks for the time that you take and thanks for the fav

stay tuned

Another tasty jam on the keys you've done here! Your playing always brings a smile to my face, and ears if that makes sense. I didn't pay as much attention as I should have, as I'm way over-heated right now. Great tone on the keys, and the rhythm worked great. I'm gathering a few short ideas to send you for things we could develop together, and I will try to send the message soon. Great song!

promenade2239 replied 20th Jul 2015 - 10 years ago
thank you for the reply and for listening to this one and commenting!

I am really happy you liked this little inprovisation. No bebop stuff and jazz lines but my own way of playing haha. I must say I make piano quite different nowadays recording everything directly from Casio digital piano or Roland synth (it has nice 'tones for Rhodes') This one was recorded using MrRay plugin but at a time there was also an annoying midi latency issue going on that pissed me off a lot. Now I am free - no plugins for keys! haha

As for our conversation: please give me some more time to respond first to your last one, ok? It is too much and I have a feeling that I might ignore some important points.

I think if you simply send me some 'beats' or basslines or anything that has a 'groove' in it I could try to improvise along on the keys. That would be a great start.

Thanks a lot again and I will write you soon!

All the best to you, Alex

Well, I don't like to hear Bush unless his words are twisted beyond recognition, but the rest of the song is pretty decent. I was wondering why your songs don't use all the headroom that is available. Like the waveforms are all at a pretty low peaking volume. Might want to work on that, as the headroom is there for a reason. Cool start to a track!

I faved this before I even started typing, and I don't even get into most dubstep any more. I could tell this was going to be deep and underground right away. It scares me how little people are willing to admit that drugs are a part of history. Spent the last hour watching and listening to vintage cigarette adverts, and you can just feel to sublime influence to several generations. Any way, sorry to ramble... I'm lovin this song. It's bordering on evil in a good way. I appreciate you visiting my track in your early days here on looperman, and I hope you will keep coming back (not to bring up AA!!!) Killer song, faved!

on ephemeral by Neomorpheus
Very interesting expression here, and minimalist in a good way. I think your guitar part displays a lot of grief and regret, not to mention sounding great. If you dont' mind me asking, what do you use for a baritone gutiar? I couldn't ask for much more from a track like this. I feel what you are going through in a way, as since I moved to this house, I've lost over 70 friends; from firearms, pharmaceuticals, traps, crack, prison and things such as these. It may not make sense, but that's how it feels. Glad you are making it through!
Neomorpheus
Neomorpheus replied 18th Jul 2015 - 10 years ago
Yes I'm glad to hear you like the minimal nature of the track. I had a 7 string Washburn that I traded in for a Schecter Blackjack C8 8 string just prior to making this. Its a fabulous guitar.
Man, I think if I were you I would consider moving out of that house!
Take care and thanks for the comment Spiv.

on Needle In The Hay Ft VSlimm and FAnalysis by SeriouslyJoking
Very good feelings in this piece, and I love what I'm hearing in the lyrical work. I like Virginia Slimm's work very much, and you've used it well. Cool style on this, especially considering what I expected from a "dance" track. Reminds me of the early nineties folk revival a bit. Mixing down the FL piano was a great idea, much better choice for not revealing it's flaws. All in all, I love the song, and it speaks to me at this moment! Fave!

on Warm Up - Number 52 by Darklighter
Well, short and to the point, just like your comment on my track. I think it would be a funny "secret track" for an album... if you know what I'm talking about. Never used garageband... in fact I haven't used any apple/mac product aside from an ipod shuffle since about 1989! Some cool sounds here though. If you can export high quality stems, it would be a cool basis for a higher quality track. Fun to hear!

on Diazepam -- Drum and Guitar Experiment by Tomzovic
Well, it pretty much is as you said, an experiment! I enjoyed listening. My initial reaction is to wonder what you were using as instruments here. I don't like to pry too much, as I know that every artist has their secrets... just curious. The drums sounded standard, like in a good way. The guitar however sounded a bit choppy and/or artificial to my ears, at least in parts, which is a bit why I'm curious about how it was done. I like that it isn't all clipped and overgained though, so keep going with that. Nice work so far, hope to hear more!

on Lone Journey by OmarMuk
I've found I can enjoy RnB type stuff if it is creatively executed and not overly top 40 influenced, and this song fits the bill nicely! My first impression was that the guitar sounded far too artificial, but it is growing on me. Considering it was loop based, I can't fault you for that any way. I think the piano has a good tone for the style of music though. Interesting modern beats in here as well! I think if I was remixing this, I would make the whole mix a bit more gentle, as I felt the need to turn my system down considerably after listening to a couple of my tracks... if that tells you anything about relative volume... don't know... The ending here sounds really nice, and is a pleasant let down, if that makes sense. Very cool composition, I like it!

Hello again Spiv. Thanks for reviewing this really old track of mine. It was one of the first ones I put up on Looperman so forgive its many flaws. And I greatly appreciate it when people tell me how it sounds on their monitors speakers headphones whatever because Im so limited in that regard so like to know how it sounds on other systems. So yes it does tell me a lot about volume since your mixes are much more cleaner than mine. Much thanks for that.
Thanks again for the review its always good hearing from you.

on S P S Inspirational Song by xXinFormalXxAJ
Oh yeah, you're the one into the flip side of hardcore, I forgot! This is cool! The comment "you need to process the vocal much more (unless you're trying to pull emulate your style to spivkurl's, which is cool i guess" was really very funny to me. Both because sometimes I feel like I process my vocals far TOO much, and because this is very different from most of my styles. Though I can hear a lot of Skinny Puppy/Ohgr in this, and they/he are some of my biggest influences. Don't let anyone keep you from doing what you love, because it rocks. I would not recommend giving this vocals more of a stereo presence, as they are clear enough and very focused... those are what I look for in a main vocal. Very great song! Faved!

I dig this very much! Always will have a place in my heart for reggae. Nice beat and choice of instruments! I guess my only problem with this is the master, as it is quite squashed and doesn't use the headroom it has. That is just personal preference. Might work good if you were pressing a record though? Either way, enjoyable listen!

Hey, dude, this is very cool! I'm enjoying it very much, and I'm happy to have a loop of mine as a part of it. Silverman's comment seems to stem from a lack of listening to jazz, as often in jazz the different instruments will have their moments throughout a song, which is also a characteristic of much fusion. You're right, those guitar parts are quite cool! Such an upbeat pleasing track! I really like it. Definitely a fave and download (thank you for the DL)!
