3/4 6/8 what's the difference? It's all divisible and thus interchangeable. Either way, this is a unique effort. Apologies for not listening to something newer from you, I just don't usually get into cinematic music without the film and dialogue to go with it. This is original and pleasing. I think the timing seems to drift and shift in parts, don't know if it was intentional, but it could be far worse. I'm glad that you are still around the site, as you have been a good contributor. Good to hear this!
I think the music here has a lot of potential for success, and you should be proud there. My personal preference dictates that I mention that the main vocals are far to stereo. Totally takes away from the music, to the point where it doesn't matter any more... like it could be better as just a pella, and I like the music, so it seems like a sin almost. Beware the new plugin, it's almost like automatic fader/feature creep, if you know what I mean. My recent song was composed on FL4 about the same time as switching to FL12, and stemming it out to further mix in FL12 has been a real challenge to get it to sound good and authentic.... plus it's using FAR more processing power for little benefit. Just an example. Stay true to your art, and don't be too concerned with fame or financial success in this life... it may not be the only one you live. You've got talent and drive, keep using it!
Thanks for the feedback bro. I hear what your saying on the vocals. Like stated, this is one of three versions. Each version I tried something different with building music around it and tweaking the vocals. I literally had a week at max to get things done so yea...flaws. You know I don't like flaws Spiv lol As much as it's an inevitable thing. It was also my intent to keep things simple arrangement wise as it would of been something to play on radio if it won. The prize was radio play and only like hundred something bucks. lol So it wasn't anything too huge. And I gotta eat out here Spiv so making a living off music or least a good side hustle is the goal. I didn't go to school for this for nothing and I don't like my job at all. I just want to do what I have a passion for and wouldn't mind doing it all day. Thanks for all the words and input my friend! peace
Hey, this is a very interesting style! It is a bit slower than most dance which I would dance to or create, but I can appreciate it for what it is. I like the mixing, especially considering you are new to the DAW thing. Definitely think that you should keep going with your efforts, as this has something special about it. Thank you for sharing.
Extremely fabulous remixing on this one! You must have had some quality stems to push it to this fine of a finished product! Maybe I should start listening to the radio, just in case this shows up on there?! Definitely has you retro signature, as well as some very modern aesthetics. Interesting stereo effects, and the field in the "bulk" of the song is really nicely shaped! Definitely something I would like to have on a cassette for my walking man's walkman. Sweet as hell! Fave!
I am not familiar with Return To Forever, but regardless I am enjoying this rendition very much! Quite cool in it's minimalism and composition. I don't listen to enough of the real fusion - jazz fusion. Very cool sounding mix, gentle and potent. Very expressive instrumental work here. Was this all performed on keyboards, or were other instruments used? Or maybe just precision sequencing? Either way, extremely good song! Fave!
The drums were done on my Alesis electronic drum kit. The drum sounds are good and a hell of allot easier than miking my acoustic kit. I can also get the different sounds needed like Latin and orchestral percussion.
I always like to check out a track labelled 8 bit when I see it here, and this is a fun one! I think it could really be developed into something deeper, but I see it is for a game, so I understand the simplicity. Cool old style sounds for sure. Fun to hear!
Super cool track you've done here! And I would have to agree about the breakbeat ties in here. I love some good breakbeat, and you've experimented and brought some modern influences in. I find many of the rhythms quite jazzy, which makes it all that much better! Kudos for the CC release as well! I noticed on your profile that you mentioned Genesis, and that made me happy... their work seems so under-appreciated these days. I've been watching a bunch of auctions for "ABACAB" vinyl lately, just can't decide what cover color variation to go for. I'm happy I listened to this track though! Faved and downloaded!
Thank you so much 4 the support!
"I find many of the rhythms quite jazzy"
I have a pack of Rex Loops that came with my Audio Interface most are jazz and other funky stuff, what i do is mash different rex loops into a unique loop , i'm surprised you noticed, you have good ears .
"Kudos for the CC release as well"
Felt appropriate, since i'm using also freely available samples.
"you mentioned Genesis"
Amazing tunes ;) and i have a very soft spot for 80's music, maybe because i was born in the early 80's, so it's kinda embedded in my brain.
"their work seems so under-appreciated these days"
True.
"just can't decide what cover color "
Good Album, I would go for Yellow, Green and Red simply coz it's my country's flag lol.
" I'm happy I listened to this track though! Faved and downloaded!"
Thanks mate it does mean a lot, and helps me keep going.
Hardcore is a funny genre around looperman, as there is no specification as to whether hardcore dance or hardcore hip hop is what is meant... so I never know what I'll hear when clicking on that genre. I usually click hoping to hear hardcore dance, but as far as hip hop goes, hardcore is usually better. I think the vocals sound pretty cool. Every one has already mentioned the distortion (clipping), so I won't beat it to death. I don't think in this case that mastering or limiting is a good solution, as it will just increase the problem. I recommend hitting up the mixing stage, and turn all the channels down by about the same amount, until your mix has no clipping - then go on a do a slightly more gentle mix. It will be more listenable and portable that way. Cool effort!
This style of song is far too generic and falsified for my tastes any more. I feel you did a decent job on the remix, though I can't help but think it was taken from an mp3 or youtube - possible without permission. Correct me if I'm wrong - either way I'll shut up about it :) Sorry to say, I'm going to turn this off.
well its kevn lyrics and song no question about it but. The arrangement is my own i haven't taken anything. i dont know what you mean by "though I can't help but think it was taken from an mp3 or youtube" i did the instrumental part by my self.
Hey there, I've been wanting to listen to this since you posted the thread, and I'm happy that I did! I have to mention that I was a little shocked at the parallel ideation with my recent track - to see a title with the words "In The Past," and then the "Future" which was used almost to much in that track's lyrics... I realize there is no plagiaristic intentions of course, it just gave me something to ponder. To me, the bass in this track is definitely what shines the most. Your performance and tone is always something to enjoy deeply. The rest of the song borders a bit closely on cinematic for my tastes, but I can hear the effort and talent that went into it. It seems to be an unusual collaboration style for you, so it's cool you are trying different things. I like the sound quality and mixing very much, so good work there. Highly interesting work!
Hey Pat,thanks man!......I really wish we all lived within reach of each other,I'm sure if we did some amazing projects would materialize, film, music, instruments, art and the like..I can see myself rolling around to your place to learn some electronics theory maybe!..sometimes people are on the same wavelength and thinking about similar concepts, structures and ideology albeit that they are thousands of miles apart and have no conscious communication, somethings happening man ,maybe our brain waves are leaking out via computer monitors or usb ports! lol...cheers mate Dave and Detlerf
This is quite awesome! Your vocal work is done very well, and fits the tone of the music. I enjoyed reading the lyrics, and I couldn't help but think of my wish for the older inhabitants of the earth, who are hanging on by a pharmaceutical thread, to move on and let us build a better world. Maybe not what you intended, but it speaks to me all the same. This reminds me a bit of the garage band era around this town I still reside in. Teenagers having an amazing time opening for touring bands in a little ghetto club which no longer exists. Angst and focus. Leaving the stage and then moshing to the rest of the bands til late in the night. Thank you for reminding me. Fave!
You are not realy far from what i had in mind when i wrote the lyrics! Sure they fit to this little piece of music and in this case they are just good for the "movie" that Phatkatz has in his mind. (but i wrote them befor start working on this track really)
In fact i had in mind something like this:
All the bad, sad, unfriendly and terrible things around you, slowly destroy all the lights, what makes this world a fine place to be, like love and friendship, humanity, brotherhood and so on.
But here is a easy thing you could do. That every body could do. Just leave all this things behind and walk into a better world. With no anger or angst or fear, with no feeling of giving anything back. Only witht the feeling of doing it right in the way it has to be done. Giving in the way you wanna get........
So it ends with a - Come, we go ahead.
And if all would follow, the world would change :)
So this isn´t a real dark track. It sounds dark and deep in a way but i think it gives some hope
We had this youth clubs also in town. This was good times ........ but now mostly all gone ...... just one of the lights that already be killed .... time to enlighten it again :)
Thanks for your nice comment. I really enjoyed all your the words.
Super amazingly cool piece you've done here! Especially good since you played the synth part live, which is not always easy. As far as instrumental fusion goes, this sort of thing always gets me (in a good way). It is a good one to listen to today, as I just finished my regular struggle with my newest espresso machine... half the time, the steam comes out from around the bin for the ground instead of making a decent double. Frustrating to say the least. I am always more stressed when my coffee doesn't turn out right. Anyway, the synth work, and the drums are both tasty. This has just the right balance of chillness and tension. Great mild processing as well. Total fave!
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed reading your reply to my 'spiritual' comment on your track.
I whish I would post much more informative stuff on other's lm music sometime instead of giving apparently 'provocative' usual every-day comments. I am struggling with my body limitations a lot almost all the time now- the brain/mind is not really a big problem: noticing thoughts and observing them falling into space for a few seconds is enough.
I can see the similarities with your coffee machine operations haha because I am struggling with all my hardware synths as well in the same manner haha. Roland Juno Di has some really cool software sound editor but I can't use it on Windows7 for some reason. So just presets so far.
There's a lot of green and plants around here - how are the plants you mentioned earlier grow btw? I have only 3 plants of that sort this year to take care of (not sure we talk of the same plants haha). Just an experimental trial cultivation of mine this year hahaha.
Thank you a lot for the fave! So glad you enjoyed my work!
At some point of the future I will add male vocals to this one.
Hey, this is fun to hear for sure! Has kind of a sampled tracker sort of sound circa 2001 or something to my ears, which is cool. I guess my only difficulty in listening is that the whole thing is very biased towards high frequencies. I would love to hear those turned down in the mix slightly, and then remaster it. This would allow the bass frequencies to shine through more, without pushing the input of the mastering stuff further. Just a thought though, because I enjoyed the listen this way too. Good to hear some new trance on the site! Thanks for sharing!
Hey, this is a fun composition! I like the theme very much... it seems to have some what of a middle eastern style in parts. I like the synths quite a bit. I do wish that "acoustic guitar" part was played on a real guitar though, it would sound so much better. If you need help with that, get in touch! Seems like a pretty simple line, so I'm sure I could bang it out. Any way, fun track, thank you for sharing!
Spiv! Much appreciated for your time and review.
Funny I actually remember you commenting on this track when I put it out there a few years ago haha. It didnt have that guitar part that starts at the 32 second mark at the time.
And yes I greatly agree that it would sound better with a real guitar and I definitely wouldnt mind you strumming away in place of the midi guitar if you want to.
Problem is I almost have no free time as I got a lot going on. I literally have like twenty plus tracks that are done that just need mixing or slight tweaking done but I havent got the time to do it.
Therell be a time though when the dust will settle and Ill get in contact.
Thanks again Spiv.
Hey this is pretty awesome and unique! Sorry, just needed something pretty short. I need to be quiet and calm currently...the walls have ears. I love the breakbeat rhythms here, and some awesome synth work is contained within. Good momentum. Your music is pretty much always a pleasure to hear, and when you're working with Cruce, it's just one more reason to listen! Big Fave!
cool. Thanks a lot! this is actually a 3rd version. I really like 2nd one which is very dark and very unlike-sounding from anything I have ever produced. Just a picture from my current work posted very quickly... Maybe I will post remastered verison of the 2nd one sometime.
Interesting composition, that's for sure! I guess my main problem with this is that the mix and master is so brickwalled. I barely have the volume turned up at all on my system, and it's still loud enough for the cops to hear through the door... you know what I mean. Cool synth lines and stuff though. Keep doin it!
Looks like I'm late to the 200 plays party, but I made it all the same! I'm enjoying this on the second listen. I like the mix in the way that it encourages me to turn it up, I like songs like that. Not to keen on the lyrics, but I like the delivery. Sounds like you're getting a good understanding of EQ from this song, and staticnomad seemed to provide some good advice as well. Keep doing your thing, no matter what!
thanks, dude. i'm a huge fan of your work and i love your replies to posts on here, so it's a great privilege to have you check out some of my work! much appreciated, and thanks for the listen!
As i misunderstood you, I thought I might repent by listening and commenting here. I'm enjoying this a lot, even though instrumental hip hop is not my favorite thing to hear. I like the instruments you chose, as well as the overall mix. Cool breakdown near the end as well. The only thing in the overall audio that is bothersome to me is that the sound seems very left side heavy... though my ears may be compensating for my right wrist injury (hopefully sprain and not fracture!). Otherwise, it sound awesome!
Sheesh. Sorry about the wrist. You may be right though. The sound could be a little off. My mixing of instruments and beats is still very novice compared to vocals. But thank you though. Much appreciated. I'm gonna go back in and see if I can tweak the mix a little better....
Hey this sounds really good to me! At first I was thinking it wasn't that bass driven, but it seemed that either it built up over time or my ears got used to the frequencies, because by the end I could really feel the bass. Nice brass work in there as well! I know that can be hard to do in this DAW era. Enjoyable hip hop style! Dig it!
Classic rock fusion you've done here! Ferryterry is a very talented instrumentalist, and it's good to hear you work together. Super groovy and relaxing. You always lay it down with your e piano work, and I respect that! The ride cymbal really adds a lot to this mix, it almost seems like a staple of the style to my ears. Good way to come in from the Sunday heat. I love it! Fave!
hi. thank you for listening and good words! This is a bit different from ferryterry's usual prefference (he is a bossanova guy). I applied an 'Ampire' plugin which is a kind of vintage amp set of effects, it gives that classic rock flavour to the guitar sound I guess. Yes, I am on the keyboards as always but I had to play bass also this time (from the keyboard of course) haha. Sunday is hot as well here but it is the end of a day so I can chill myself out now...
thanks for your nice comments! all the best to you, alex
Hey there! I am totally enjoying this one! You've played some amazing parts here, and the basses are turning my brain to mush... part of why this won't be as in depth as some of your other comments here... the other part is due to the shot of tincture. Either way, this really rolls! I think the part after the tempo change is my favorite part, the guitars are so melodic, and with the bass almost seems to form a counterpoint... that can't be bad. Seems like you were going for more of a live drum kit sound, in relation to the panning someone mentioned, so I get what you were doing I think. Well, killer track! Good to hear you doing your thing! Fave!
Hey, super cool chill hip hop you've done here! I came to your profile hoping to hear something recent, but 2012 will do! I think this instrumental would sound really sweet with some vintage or DIY sounding drums in there, and if you need the hook up I can help you out. The piano part is cool, and would be a good theme if you expanded this idea. I saw you like the DM album "Black Celebration"... that's cool, been listening to that tape on my walkman lately. Started work on a cover from that album that I'll do with my wife. Anyway, I enjoyed listening to this one. Take care!
Hey! Thank you very much. Unfortunately I don't have a chance to continue with this song cause I don't have the data needed. Got lost after three or so years. But since you offered me to help with the hook up here's my email - elzekoprodz@gmail.com, I'm sure we'll figure something out.:-) And I noticed you are listening to Skinny Puppy, great band aren't they? Have you heard their new album The Greater Right or Wrong? Banger! Cheers man!
Sounds like something you'd be doing for cash or something, which is cool in it's own way. I'm liking the mix aside from the bass parts being too stereo for my tastes. This seems like something to make an extended mix of, put on endless loops, and then dance all night too. I really like the splatty snare you've used. Keep doing this, and you'll probably be famous.
Hey, another winning song by you! I read the english translation, and I really like the lyrics/message! You captured the reggae vibe very well, and it is unique hearing that style in a different language. You used some classic loop makers' work in here too, and it shows. Excellent work! Fave!
Pretty cool instrumental you made here! Interesting sampling for sure. I pressed play before reading the description, but seeing rap I expected vocals... guessing maybe you are out looking for them. I enjoyed hearing this!

I'm very glad you liked this one, and I apologize for the brain mushery. There is a metric Shi'tunn of bass guitar in this one.
As for the shot, I hope it was measured in fluid ounces, not cubic centimeters. Ain't nobody got time for that.
