The only reason I moved away from the speakers for this one was that my kitty was heading towards the fresh vinigrette, but then I was back in the seat. I really enjoyed the texture of the piece. The movies which influenced are not exactly my thing, but I can appreciate the feeling behind it. I have to wonder how much of the poverty in that area is due to the mafia, and how much has to do with morality which encourages overpopulation. But it's the mercury retrograde, so I won't dig to deep into that conversation! Any way, the composition and mixing are top notch on this song, and you've done great!
Hi Spiv! I really appreciate your time spent for something which you're not quite into (certain music styles or movies etc.)and you're always so kind and friendly to say a word or two when my new track comes out....really precious and noble attitude! Thank you alot for that!
Hey, lovin this one! Very groovy guitar work, both lead and rhythm. Simple but effective array of instruments. At first the little clicks on the right speaker threw me, but I became used to it later on... I'm assuming it's an unusual delay send panned to the right. Powerful stuff!
No it's a Hammer Click that I completely ignored at time, then used
it as a click track in spots...It was in the track tried to take it out
at 1st, didn't work so it beeee's there as is...
As well I did use a few delay patterns, to create that numerical
feel of the Guitars...Having fun doing what I love... :)
I will admit that my impression in the intro was very blah, just due to the very overused method of introducing a song of this style. However once the song got going I enjoyed it more. Some cool pumping rhythms as well as unique synths and textures. I guess it's not my usual listening preference, but it would probably fit in great in a club or when working out... both of which are not my things...heh. Good sounding mix and master though, so you should be proud of that. Good work!
Well, now, this is different than I expected to hear from you! I must admit that I'm pleasantly surprised though! I have a hard time listening to ambient stuff any more, and it was good to hear something a bit faster and upbeat. I like the synth work on here very much! Could definitely be good in a movie or even a video game. This has an interesting shuffle to the rhythm which I am enjoying. Keep experimenting my friend! Fave!
Hey, very cool, and yes a dark song! I'm enjoying the listen! So is this about theft from corporations in the form of shoplifting? If so, I totally understand where you are coming from! I have been living opposite the rest of the world in regard to the weekend for about eight years now, but Thursday can be Monday too! Very effective lyrical work and performance! The discussion about Cygnus (never tried it) makes me wonder if it is related to Cyclop virtual instrument, which also can make extremely dark experimental textures... curious if you use it? Well, whatever, this is an excellent song, and it is a fave!
Thanks for your friendly words and the fav. Realy nice to know that you like it.
I wrote this song when i was a young one (around 21) and we had a lot but mostly never money. But we had wishes...... so things goes like they go then ..... in the original version of the lyrics it goes - ich geh einkaufen, english einkaufen - What would be in engish - i go shoping, english shoping - and this -english shoping- means right here in the north of germany - stolen/taken away/shoplifted ..... cause after the ww2 the english arme just taken all away they could get ..... so the word -english shoping- was born :) ...... i changed it now to shoping without money, cause it is better to understand :)
I din´t know any about this cygnus things .... both not
Ha ha, funny take on the Kate Bush song! It's extra entertaining because her voice doesn't sound very unnatural at this speed... she can sing so high as it is! Very hardcore and bouncin! After I has some food and beer, I'm going to try to make some progress on that colab we were discussion not long ago. Hope I can do something good with it. Talk to you soon!
The beginning made me expect to hear The Cure's "A Forest" start in, but you went a different direction with it. Don't know why, just sounded similar. It's an interesting style of music you made here, and I enjoyed listening!
I've never really been into the cure before but I'll check that track out! This is just a little tribute to the final fantasy games I used to play on playstation when I was a kid, the music in those games are awesome!
It's funny, I started a thread recently, and most of the suggestions for unfeatured tracks are ones that I have never heard or commented on... so this is a pleasant surprise! You were one of the biggest songwriters on looperman for a while, and this song definitely shows why. You've got a great ear for popular music styles and emotional effect of sounds. Your guitar playing is always masterful, and gives the feel of being effortless! I'm glad this showed up, because it was a good listen!
This is another masterful production from you Allen, and it includes some of the loop's original masters! It came up as a suggestion on a recent thread I started, and I'm so glad! Super groovy, and reminiscent of a different time. Love it! Hope you are well!
Thank you my friend!
I appreciate the production comment and I must say that all the contributors produced there own tracks and I just added guitar parts after the fact but I was the last in line to mix us all together so for that I thank you!
It started with Spelljammer and I added layers of guitar and Slap made me remix the whole song..Yea,like he made me lol!!
I've seen a lot of interesting posts about production, mastering and mixing on the Loop...I haven't chimed into the discussion because I don't know any response but I will tell you that your comment "reminiscent of a different time"is so true.
I took the tracks they sent me,added my own and mixed it,their own EQ...that was that,if it sounded good then I thought it was and posted it and let the Looper community tell me if I should make any changes but I appreciate that everyone who has commented has approved.
A lot has changed in a few years,a lot for the better.
I'ts funny to think that 5 years can sound "dated" but it's true and I love all the new computer production,I'll figure it out one day lol!
You Know Spiv, I know my tracks may sound"old school".....But it's because I Am lol!
This brings me back to when Looperman was a very different place, and it makes me happy. This came up on a thread I started, and I was surprised to see something from you, but pleasantly! You've always had a unique style, that must have been an influence on me in the past. 2009 seems like another dimension now. I hope you are well!
Mmmmm creative commons, I love that stuff! Released one under that licensing myself recently. I liked your other track, so I had to hear this one too. And, big surprise, I like this one as well. More subdued and minimal of course, as it is one person's vision, but it conveys the impression you described. You seem like a valuable and interactive addition to looperman, and that makes me happy! Keep doing your thing!
Hey this is cool and interesting, and even more interesting was reading your profile a moment ago. I can't help but think about what I've been watching in the evenings, or should I say re-watching, as I've seen the whole "Six Feet Under" series about 6 times now. One of my favorite shows ever. I'm no mortician, but I can't help but see/feel the death and mourning all around us each day. I think you've captured the theme you described quite expertly, especially considering you used loops to do it. Fun and extreme track. Lets hope for end of humanity so we can see if this theme is reality. Thank you for sharing! Fave!
Thanks for you feedback regarding this track. It is an obvious statement when I say that the only reason that this track even exist (good or bad) is because of the creativity of many people who contribute to this site. I think much of the thanks goes to them.
Thanks also for taking the time out to actually read the MORTradio profile. Yes, all of us here at MORTradio are morticians (all eight of us, licensed in embalming and funeral directing). The show "Six Feet Under" does give a tiny glimpse in the world of undertaking, but it really isn't that accurate. None of us here really watched the show that much since we are living it. Actually, we watched a lot more of the reality series "Family Plots" since we all knew the people and what they were really like (at least on a professional level). You are right when you say that there is death around us each day, but like they say, darkness always makes the light so much brighter.
I have listened to your tracks as well, and have always enjoyed the ones I have heard. I hope you will continue to submit so we can here more.
P.S. This week we are playing Siouxsie and the Banshees in the preprooms we go to (my favorite by them is "Dear Prudence"). Maybe I am wrong, but I get a feeling you are a Siouxsie and the Banshee fan....
Very pleasing track you have performed here! Seems like every commenter on the site has visited this one already, I was off doing my own work during this period though, so I'm late to the party. This really seems like the definition of fusion, atleast in an instrumental sense, and I like that in a song. Blurring lines, crossing boundaries, it's all good. Has a peaceful feeling throughout. You have a good sense of chosing instruments, and it shows in a track like this. I'm happy to hear that you are getting to tour, doing something you love. Have a great day!
I really dig this track! It brings peace to mind, and a smile all over. The guitar sounds great to me, both in tone and performance. Excellent momentum throughout. Reminds me of the days when each day was spent listening to jazz records and cassettes, drowning out the traffic noise and the cares... in fact the maintenance work accross the street is being drowned out by this currently! The vocal part on the outro sounds excellent, very groovy and care free. A fine quality piece! Fave!
Hello again! I didn't really notice that this was listed as dubstep, and I can hear why you would chose that of course, but I was pleasantly surprised by the creativity you added within that style. I think the bass work is quite good, and the mix sounded nice on my setup. I'm extremely into horror films, except that I HATE all of them that I've seen from the last 4-5 years... and that leads me to the only thing hard for me about this track, it sounds like it would be in a modern horror flick. That's not really anything to do with you or your music, just the bad taste in my mouth from poor film making. Every modern horror movie that is recommended to me turns out to be horrible generic regurge. I think your arrangement works great here, and it gives a very cinematic impression. An enjoyable listen all the way through!
I'm guessing it's the fact that this track has modern music elements in it that makes it seem to you like it's a more modern horror sound. The audio clip is from a mid 80's flick. So, it's definitely from the prime era. Either way, I'm glad you liked it.
I haven't exactly been too thrilled with recent horror flicks either. In my opinion, they started to lose their flavor once CGI replaced all the Tom Savini's out there. Back in the late 70's and early 80's when the budgets were low, the film was grainy, and the lighting was crap is when they were the best. That rawness is what made them scary. Well, that and I was just a little kid back then.
Thanks for listening and also for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it.
This is fun to hear for sure! I like some of the sounds that you included. I think the overall arrangement is nice, but some of the transitions are very sudden. You could probably do somethings to make them feel less sharp and more on the smooth side... such as using effect on some channels with a longer decay, or having transitional elements like drum fills or cymbals at the start of a bar. These can take attention away from the fact the a bunch of stuff is dropping out and being replaced by something totally different. You have a good handle on mixing this style it seems. The minimal part around 3:30 is quite cool, the heavy pumping feel of it is good. I'm no house expert of course, but I think you're headed in the right direction!
Well, this is a pretty nice start to a hardstyle track. I like the choice of instruments. The mix is pretty bangin so far. You should totally keep going with this, as it has much potential! If you get a finished version together, you should feature it and leave some useful comments on others' tracks. You will get a lot of listens and usually feedback this way. Nice song!
Hey there, very good feelings in this song! I am enjoying the composition a lot. If it weren't this complex, I would be telling you that it sound a bit like a video game soundtrack as well. Nice choice of sound, and great playing/sequencing. Fun track! Fave!
O_o a fave from you its a dream?!? Im so honored this music is very different from some my other works because for unknow reason there are just a little "dark/creepy" theme on that only if you think at 41 seconds the piano is haunted.
Im also happy to don't lose the video game soundtrack feels since ,if you don't know, I started to make music due to one (maybe abandoned)game i tried to make.
maybe trying to make an 20 hours game alone with low knowledge is not a than good idea XD.
This super extremely cool! Your keys are spectacular as always, and megapaul's guitar work sounds great in this setting. The drum and bass work is some really nice funky fusion stuff that I can totally groove to! This one is a bit more structured when compared to some of your work, and I enjoy that (being a math nerd and all). I love how with many of your song, I think how it would be great with a talented vocalist, and then half a minute later I'm not missing vocals at all, and can think of it as an excellent instrumental. The instruments do kind of sing in this, so it's a winner. Great jam! Fave!
I am happy you had a chance to listen to this as it might be one of my better works so far, who knows... haha. Definitely more a very proper funky-rock (fusion?) this time haha...
Firstly it's probably because of the use of new equipment - Roland Juno Di for electric piano, electric piano bass, clavinet, background Teremin- like sounds... I was finally able to play some guitar as well as Roland has some very good 'crunchy' and different 'overdriven' guitar sounds. Of course I can't play it that good as Megapaul - it will always sound very artificial from the keys but anyway I tried to create very corresponding guitar 'soundscape' to the one from his loop http://www.looperman.com/loops/detail/80272/pills-and-potatos-85bpm-a-by-megapaul-free-85bpm-weird-electric-guitar-loop (which is introduced at the beginning of this track) as possible. So I play the guitar in here (from around 1:16) haha. And yes, I think I will gradually be able to create much better structured compositions in opposite to my usual synth jams haha. As for the math matters I must say that I am now becoming aware of this as well (3+3+2, 3+2+3, 2+3+3 is 8, it was my rhythmic concept for the bassline haha - with some variations, as well as playing in major tenths).
It's much easier to write the pieces now, I do not need to struggle so much with midi latency and other plugin issues. It feels more natural - it's a real instrument anyway....
Again many thanks for nice words and adding this one to your favourites!
Glad I could provide some enjoyable moments for you.
You definitely captured the feeling and idea of the title here! I like you vocals and lyrics on this one. Nice bass image, and the high end is nice and crisp. Great work!
Hey, very sweet arpeggiations in this track! I can almost envision a string quartet playing an arrangement of this theme, that would sound cool! Kind of has an 80s soundtrack style to it, but with some updated sounds of course... not to mention digital/virtual. The mix and everything sounds nice to my ears. I know it's older now, but I enjoyed listening!
Very engaging recordings and use of them! The quality of sound you captured seems very good. I too have been experimenting with field recording, and it can be very enjoyable. Sounds like a nice place where you live! Sometimes my in studio mic recordings end up sounding like a field recording even if that's not what I'm trying to record, ha ha! Pleasing to hear this morning, thank you for sharing! Fave!
hey! Thanks a lot for listening to this one and friendly words. It's much appreciated!
This is a quite specific region I live - eastern Poland. You might even hear very characteristic storks in the background haha (and tractors working lol).
Anyway these new Rode mics are truly great - I intend to record the church organ this week as we are just about finishing our current organ restoration project (the instrument has to be properly tuned first - that's the final stage). I even constructed special tripod (in a rough version) to place the mics about 6m high to capture the organ sound properly. For now I will be experimenting with all this only for the purpose of documentation of the organ sound (as this is an old, historical object).
I will need more time to record properly my old upright piano (I own also several old harmoniums but they are partly playable for now) using Rode mics as they come also with changable directional capsules. Soon or later I will post more live recordings and works like this one!
But now it's almost 5PM in here and I just arrived home...
Thank you again for some good words and for the fave!
Hey that was really pretty soothing! I like the piano/synth work on this a lot. The drums are good as is, but it could lend itself to other styles of drums as well, like StaticNomad suggested. I think the vocal part was my least favorite part. While it sound cool, I think it might be a bit overused. Would be cool if you got an actual singer on this, and used those sampled parts as like a hook or something. Enjoyable listen for sure!
Hey, this is just excellent rock music! You know it has to be good, as it can stand on it's own without drums very easily. The riffs are used creatively, and you've got some cool panning tricks in this one. I guess my main request would be making the gain a little more gentle, either in mixing or mastering. Really it's so cool this way though! Did you ever find anyone to do some drums? Faved!
I'm enjoying this version much as well! I think that overall I prefer the other version, mostly because of the timing contained within. While urbanshokker's comment was very generalized and cliche when it comes to funk music, it did have some good advice. It seemed like in the last main section, your bass and drums grooved pretty well, but some of the earlier parts seemed to have the bass and drum loops starting on different beats or something. By the end I was definitely feeling it. I think that the instruments are what makes these two tracks "funky" for the most part, and that is important. Thank you for sharing these with us! Oh BTW, I noticed when I click your name below the track title, it would normally show all of your tracks, but instead it says there are no tracks available - maybe should contact Shan, as it seems like a code issue. Hope you are well!
Mate thank you for reviewing this version as well as the 4 on floor version, had mixed thoughts with the reviews, mixture of good and ok ones lol...Thinking where you mentioned about the bass, I have added some extra in parts so that might give it a more completed part then other parts of the track, will try to do some more to this one over time, but not doing anymore just yet, I normally just completely stuff up track when going back to them too soon, Got a review from Joe MrFunktastic, he was happy with what I had achieved within the track, so that made my day for me, guessing everyone has different idea's on what funk should be, to me this has a funky groove feel about it, so that's why I put it under the funk genre, so to get a pass from Joe blew me away...Peace n Respect mate...Mos...PS: health still up and down at moment, had injections for shoulder, but still not the best at moment :(
