Yes, you are correct, this sounds very well recorded! I have listened to this style, or it's US influenced counterparts quite often recently, and I really like this type of pop influenced, tribal beat driven music. I'm hoping to learn that these are your vocals, because I find them so healing and engaging! I have no reference for the lyrics, but I can still feel the power contained in them. I like the positivity of the music and composition. Fine fine work! For sure a favorite!

Never been a big fan of the original Tron films, and I felt that the recent rehashes were a big sick joke. because of this I have little frame of reference for this work. It is not something I would listen to unless it were in the background of a film with respectable plot. Time passes, we all move on... we're not gonna take it... any more. It reminds me of all the film makers trying to make fortunes from things they've done before. I like it when people do something completely new, something that isn't repetition. I apologize if this is offensive. I accept the song for what it is, but do not entirely approve.

LOl, Why would i take offense? Cause you said your opinion? Thats what we're suppose to do, isnt it? But i will say that you seem to take things much more serious than i do. I've seen bits and pieces of the first Tron and havent seen a minute of the newer one, lmao! I was asked to contribute a track for a Tron inspired comp, so i did. Hhaha.

We've talked back and forth for almost a couple yrs now Pat. You know i like what you do. But i have to admit, your last comment "I accept the song for what it is, but do not entirely approve." mad me laugh, lol. I accept you do not approve, but i assure you, no women, children or animals were harmed during the making of this track, lmao!!

Do me a favor, if you like my next track, can you say "I'm Spivkurl, and I approve this track" :)

Very interesting track, which to my ears has the sound of a "Savant" before he had as much experience. The synths sound nice and chill. The mix definitely need a lot more time put into it to make this a fabulous song, as many elements sound basically lost in the confusion. Maybe try less layers and you will have more success. Consuming more than we need for the same results only has bad consequences. I enjoyed listening though, and I think that as a song it has much potential!

This was a wonderful listening experience, and I'm going to press play again, as I was reading the other comments while listening through the first time. I think that the background noise that others mentioned gives very live expression feel to the track. Additionally, if you ended up with 30 tracks when making this song entirely with hardware sources, then it is nearly unavoidable without some severe post-processing. The first time, I listened at a more normal "online" volume, and didn't notice much noise, this time I've turned it up. The "all over the place" arpeggiations are perfectly tuned to my ears, and I know that this is no small feat. Beautiful atmosphere throughout the piece! You are right about this patch which reminds you of a traditional e-piano, it does for me as well. I've been multi-sampling my Concertmate C-1000 for electric piano and harpsichord sounds lately, but the sound you achieved is definitely more authentic. I like the minimalist drums you provided. I know there are some people who give hate to REAL analog drums, in which the high end is comprised almost entirely of noise, but I find it to be comforting. Reminds me of some of the more modern jazz I listened to obsessively, and I appreciate the reminder. All in all, a very pleasing experience to hear. Faved!

Thank you so much for a nice review!

I came up with this musical piece after practicing gospel sheet piano arrangements and there are some progressions here inspired somehow by those arrangments, I think. The main 'e-piano' is a particular preset of Blofeld called 'Yamlitzer' but it is still a synthesized piano sound. Those piano upper additions at the end of the piece are from Roland synth which has some really fine e-piano sounds (but quite shitty keyboard action in my opinion). Overall I couldn't help but just 'color' the track by adding all that candy arpeggios.
I am glad you liked the overall atmosphere as it was my main focus truly! - I really spent much time adjusting things very carefully here and I am happy you found the connection with the proper 'tuning' aspect! I always play everything from a keyboard (here by using the Roland to trigger the Blofeld sounds) - it is almost an 'intuitive approach' to music I present here. Also I want to incorporate more true analogue drums and synth sounds in the future!

I played some videos to get the idea of a Concertmate synth and I really liked it's sounds and the lovely microkeys. Although apparently this can't be compared to the Roland sound-engine quality but still the 'key' is in actual 'playing', I think. I do not know much about the mechanics of a sampling software but I think I achieved some relatively satysfying results when using a particular Boesendorfer multi-velocity sample-based piano in 'Kontakt'. It works to me somehow when connected to the Casio keyboard with weighted keys - at least when using some very special 'velocity' settings. Blofeld's e-piano sounds can react really weirdly when pressing keys unproperly. Same Roland patches. It almost feels lika a new instrument to learn and practise each time for me.

I am glad I could provide some enjoyable moments for you. Thank you for nice words!

I'm understanding your work a little better, and I can totally appreciate the power and anger here! For me, dubstep died in 2014, but you could maybe keep the dead with us (and that can't be bad!). The break is definitely a cool change up, and I seem to recognize the vocal part, though I can't say from where. You almost make me want to make some strict dubstep again! Seriously cool! Faved!

Thank you! (the intro is really bad imo, but i had to do one, i dont like making intros tbh) i think i know where you heard it first, it was this track from me http://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/150093
which you even commented on c:

Its a vocal from holly, i mentioned her in the description, she has great accapellas, i just reversed it on some parts, put some reverb to it and cut it the way i wanted it to work.

thank you for your kind words! i appreciate it, but you are right, dubstep is kind of dead. I dont really feel like dubstep anymore too.
But would be cool to hear some from you :D

While I do not understand the pop culture reference (as is usual), I can identify with the sentiment expounded in this song. Maybe my dubstep phase was my midlife crisis, but no way to be sure... either way, this is one of the more enjoyable and engaging dubstep tracks I've heard in quite a while! I see that you list Caspa as an influence, and I can totally identify with this... Caspa helped me through some tough shit. I also like the "In my other life I" section of your profile, as you can't go wrong trying to change the future for the better, I'm going to fave this one! I dig it!

Caspa's Well'Ard blew my middle-aged mind. More specifically, I was exposed to it through a fan video I caught offhandedly after watching an amazing Butthole Surfers fan video. I hadn't experienced music in that manner since the 90s when a lot of stuff seemed so fresh and all real. The 90s was a great time to be outside the mainstream. Caspa makes me feel right now is a great time to be out of the mainstream as well.

Thanks for listening Spivkurl!

on Look Out For You - Ft Sehya by ReonN
I think the thing that stands out about this track for me, is that it is pretty loud due to the sparse nature of the composition, as opposed to being loud because of an abused plugin. You can tell from the clarity and the waveform that the audio hasn't been destroyed. I am not a fan of the style of the vocals, but that's little to do with you of course. There are some creative moments in the song, and I think you've done well. Keep at it!

on ghost words of frederick baer by joecramer
Very interesting soundscape that you created with your vocal recordings, and the minimal musical element is just right. I find this to be far more cinematic than most things classified as such here on Looperman, and that could possibly be due to my love of horror films. I did not read the words until after hearing your track. I felt that the song itself taken out of context was far more scary than the simple honest words that they were created from. I would love to make a "flick" some day, and if I ever manage to, I will search you out to help with the soundtrack! Super-fine stuff my friend! Fave!

Thanks for your friendly words Spivkurl.
Like always i really enjoyed them. I loved horror films really much when i was younger and that may be the reason why this track sounds like it does.
After stopping the focus on the words itself i had to remove all the sounds that doesn't fit to the "feeling" of darkness and so every thing did go it way almost from alone. Just darker and darker ..... good to know that you believe that it is fine stuff.
I think it would be interesting to create a soundscape for an existing movie. So if you ever do something in that way just tell me and i would be happy to give it a try.

stay tuned

on Big Red Boat by DanGoldstein
I started listening to this, and then felt the desire to go and view the painting... not surprising that the painting felt instantly connected with the music! It's like I could see it before I clicked the link, within the music. Very creative stuff. I think that you coaxed some good sounds out of the single synth, and I could see the frequencies being even more broad if the sounds were created on different instruments... but then the whole "vibe" may be lost, so it might not be worth it. I really like this one! Thank you for sharing! Fave!

Out of curiosity, I am visiting your track to hear for myself what you are doing. While there are some cool patterns going on here, I do feel like this validates what I've been discussing with you in the forum today. Even the quiet sounds are loud, and the whole thing is compressed to the point of sounding distorted. If you back of on that threshold/gain then maybe the dynamics will show through, but at this point I can't turn my speakers past about 10% volume without it being painful. Like I said there are cool patterns in the composition. It's a good idea for a song, and I wouldn't dare criticize that aspect. Only trying to help!

on Gerwin loves Janneke - Dance With Me by Indozizz
You have definitely become one of the serious trance-masters, at least around Looperman (beyond that I wouldn't have a clue!)... and songs like this show exactly why. It's not even near my favorite style of trance, but you expertly execute it, and it is trance inducing, so I must appreciate it. I think the main thing which could propel songs like this even higher, is if they were not obviously virtual... I would love to hear the same "information" converted to sound with actual circuitry creating continuous waveforms, and forcing them through joyous filters. Don't take that as any sort of offense, because I enjoyed listening, and I feel the same way about most songs of recent years. Great work!

This composition is sounding very cool! Your bass and guitar work flows so well in the context of the piece, and seems to tell a story. Very interesting synthesis throughout as well. As far as the subject matter goes; I am by nature a very skeptical and paranoid person. I see all these images provided by NASA recently, and they just look like digitally envisioned hope. I don't believe any of it, and I think of it as just one more distraction from the problems right here at home. I realize that it gives some people hope, but I prefer to find hope in correctly living. I think that your song has far more realism than the space programs offerings. I think you guys have performed very well here. I suppose I could add that the whole track sounded very loud to my ears, but it's not important. I enjoyed listening, and I thank you for the opportunity to expound. Great work!

Hey Pat...digitally envisioned hope!...nice one (that would make a good album name!) I'm a born sceptic myself however I do believe that scientists in general do possess at their core the truth of empirical scrutiny, it's more often when their findings are manipulated by government policy or corporate management that the real deceptions start....Yes the volume!..it's pretty obvious that I fell asleep at the wheel( virtual mixing desk! lol) while laying the drum track down....."but officer I was getting into the deep end frequencies and over compensated I guess"...thanks mate! your input is always totally spot on and beneficial...cheers Dave :)

Yeah dude, this is sounding killer! I've heard many of these sort of sounds so many times, and yet they never get old. This sounds especially '85-'86 to my ears, which is super cool. I love it when music like this shows up in the background of those old movies or shows. Not sure what sort of lyrical theme, style, or language you had in mind, but I could definitely give it a go. I know a lot of people around here a repelled by my singing, so it's up to you. Either way, excellent piece of work here! Total Fave!

I had trouble finding something new, mostly because the tracks are not chronological on your page, so I landed on this one that I had not heard yet. Cinematic music, without a film context to go with it is not my favorite sort of thing... or at least when a song is made to be cinematic and not just a regular song used in a film, just to clarify. I really do like the epic percussion a lot though, and I could see it enhancing some sort of film. The string chords are not my thing so much, mostly because they have a rompler vibe to them... but that is all personal preference of course, and a lot of people love those! I think it is composed well though, and you seem to have a knack for this style. Keep at it!

So you just made your first song... either your criticism of my song was to build up your ego or to bump your track in the featured list. I don't care which reason, but you should have some sort of experience or history to be giving advise the way you did. I've recorded at least 200 songs, as well as mixing and mastering for many different musicians, and you've done a song... maybe you should practice being humble while you practice making music. I could give you exactly the same response that you left on my song about this song, but I won't even get into it. It's not worth any more time.

Pleasantly surprising! I expected that it would be loud to the point of wanting to turn it off, but it was pretty well balanced. The autotuned vocals bothered me slightly, but did not take much away from the overall track. I like the arrangement and the mixing. Fun to hear!

As a virtual orchestral cinematic type piece, I think this has much merit! The minimalism lends to a nice clear mix, so that is good. I actually find this makes me think of how a remix would be, maybe in the style of older Aphex Twin... with some crazy chopping in the piano and strings and some stereo ambient clicking percussion. I don't, that's just where my mind went when hearing it. I like it as is though! Nice work!

Hey this is pretty sweet track! Reminds me of a slowed down jungle track or something. I'm thinking there would be two main reasons that your subs are not "bigger." First, the whole track seems very heavy on the high frequencies like snares and high hat percussions. If those weren't peaking quite as extremely, then you would free up some headroom to gain the whole mix. That might balance it out. The second idea is a bit more unorthodox... this sub bass is actually very sub, and those are meant to be felt more than heard. While I can hear it, it would be far more audible if it were raised up an octave. Obviously if they are loop based, this might destroy the quality, but if they are virtual or hardware, then it should be a simple matter. Sometimes a bass will surprise you on higher octaves. Hope that helps a little! I did enjoy listening!

This reminds me of the days when new age compact discs were offered everywhere you looked, even "as seen on TV." It was really unavoidable around 1990 or so. I was happy to see that pass on, but not the loss of meditative living and peace which disappeared with it. So you can see that I appreciate it for what it is. I think this is mixed very well, and has some great musical merit. Thank you for sharing!

This is pretty fun to hear! Uplifting and ecstatic in a way that I usually hear in more trance type of songs, which is a good thing. There are some nice synth sounds used in here, and the composition and arrangement works great. If this were minimised a bit and you found a good singer, I could see this turning into a cool modern new wave sort of hit. Very cool stuff! Fave!
