:) Nice!

Great job mounting the tension and bringing everything up and up.
I liked how your strings almost sounded like hip-hop stabs.

I know how it goes mixing a lotta different elements and genres together, but I kinda, just as a listener wanted more of that syrupy bass! Maybe a lulling string line / epic pad playing almost 1 bar phrases?... Not a complaint or criticism at all.

Awesome stuff! Push the boundaries!

thank you!
your ideas about the bass are interesting but my main aim was too keep it simple and i think a new element would make the whole thing a bit to complex

Yay!

What was the new toys?

PJB's bass is awesome.... Awesome orchestration.
(Lights lighter)

You know... following your work since I have been on this site... I didn't think it was possible.. but you have gotten better and better lol....
It's almost scary.

The break reminded me of a movie soundtrack... but then again.. the whole thing did...
Like one of those epic montages!

Go to yer "My account" at the very top.
Then, after doing that look for the second tier of white shaded tabs.. Their should be "Edit Profile"
Click on that, and in the middle there, is the "My Email:_____"
You could change it to yer prefered... altho, some people don't like looperman spam, some people revel in it.

Decided to check out yer oldest.

Man.. You were way better than me in 2008 lol

Drums are really simple no nonsense awesomeness.

Love it.
If you still got this.. I would love to make a dnb death metal hybrid? lol
If not no worries man.
I like your style.
Keeping my eye out for your future works!

Think this reason file still lurks around somewhere. It might also have nothing but presets lol. Drums I know were from the patch 'Mpc Roll Enumerator' or something like that. The effects were also presets lol. This track was like falling in love with Reason again. Simple idea sequencing but I've always been amazed at its depth. Weird thing is, I troll the forums and saw something about Clinthammer and you working on a Inferno concept album. This song was from a same idea. The dark wood of error. New error terror was like an intro idea. I may upload some of the other tracks from that. The others went in a different direction, more downtempo. I also gotta check out Clint's stuff now that I'm thinking about it. Cheers again man, really appreciate the reviews. I'll be making my way back to jam out to some more of your stuff :D

... ... my thoughts?
FAVED.

What the f8ck? 115 listens and only 1 review?!?
That is just ...
I am ashamed.

Ok... to be honest.. this sounds amazing.

It's giving me chills... ...
Some thoughts?
....
Umnnnn
I am kinda floored lol. Try.. if you layer.. I do this with vocals in studio's and with rappers, but making 3 tracks, and trying to split channels left right and then a center.
But ... with just one type of string, you can get into crappy phase areas.

...
It's amazing man.
I am shocked you haven't gotten a ton of reviews and downloads.
:/
MCHN
MCHN replied Unknown
Thanks again man. This is still a wip track as I'm still trying to get some percussion in there. I added some other layers with more verb to distance it out. Theres also alot of newer techniques I've been picking up for orchestral stuff as far as panning and verb placement. On some of the violin(s), minus the solo one in the first verse, they are layered out hard l and r, and then another 2 set about +/- 30. I think my sub mixes are off alot actually so it maybe kinda pointless to have so much. There are somethings that do phase here and there. I think on the update I will move it to Records mixer as it has way more features to mix and counter that stuff. Also the vocals might get a better mix. Theres slight distortion on them here and there lol. Thanks again for the review Cheers :D

:)

Yay!
Someone else who kinda thinks like me with metal!

I knew I had heard your track Voyager, which is freaking awesome.

This one is damn cool too!
I know how it goes with the old stuff... I really dug the singing like synth/piano/guitar/voice?!? Awesome. Oh it's guitar.

Hehe... Centrist kinda has a point.. But I love Doom Metal.. Stoner Metal...

I just like aggression and brute wattage and saw waves lol.

Definitely would love to see you do an updated version or the same kinda style... reiteration?

Great job on the drums btw... I think the hardest freaking part about DAWs is making drums sound half-way decent and you rocked it like you were sitting on the throne.
MCHN
MCHN replied Unknown
Thanks for the review. Hah first time I get a compliment on some drums. It's something I really hate about drum machines and programming them. Never sound like a real drummer. Need to get some piano drumming skills lol. But yea the dirtier metal stuff is always my fave. Faster is better sometimes though I agree. I still sit on a ton of slow dirge metal stuff that will come out soon. Thanks for the review :D Cheers

Beautiful...
I really like how you typically allow things to morph in and out of each other.
It's something I really strive for in my music. Not necessarily being stuck to the DAW's internal time clock, or the ebb and flow of pragmatic beat fractions.

Hey?
Checkity check yer e-mail?
I remixed yer Grasshopper song lol... And by remix, I mean messed it up and failed at my vision lol...

I really enjoy your work.
Thanks for being man.

Alright, pardon my ignorance, but where the hell is my mailbox on this site? I really wanna hear what you've done to the Grasshopper, but I can't locate my inbox on this site (never looked for it before).

Definitely dig the old school drum and bass flavor...
Almost pseudo-amen loopage/mididrum programming gets a huge High Five from me!

Altho... I dunno.... I really like the elements.. it doesn't feel as strong as new17 heh.

I feel like the transitions where just a little to chopped?
But .. i mean, it wasn't enough for me to get sick of it.

Are you playing the loop of the digeridoo from a sampler or in FL?
If you could, perhaps throwing a shitton of glissando/portamento...(i forget which one it is lol) and then drag out the fade on that.. so the loop will actually slide into the lower 7th you have it at.
I think it would be smoother...
And then ... the two drum beats are awesome.. but I felt there needed to be a segue?

But do not take my criticism as negative... I really really like your vibe.
You got style... Most people spend years trying to get that.

hehe I was trippin' cause all yer tracks dates and titles was like "wow".

You are busy busy!
BUT, you definitely ... wow.
I mean... all things aside, technicalities, and musicianship, genre, whatever.. blah blah.

But you know when you hear someone with a dope vibe.
That's what I get listening to this.. and I do remember (very vaguely) some of your previous work.
I love how this is like vinylish distortion waves, with this seedy underside groove.

Dope.

quite honestly, my new shyte sucks. i seem to have lost a lot of my mojo somewhere...i would suggest checking out my old stuff if youre interested in what im capable of.

You have quite the ear for music.
I really really enjoy EVERY single one of your pieces of art.

Like what n0mad23 always mentions to me,... I can just get this vibe you are jacked into the spirit of the thing.

Thanks a lot alividlife. Unfortunately I cannot play. At all. This is all the work of a machine (fl 9), but it's pretty great to be able to inject humanity into it isn't it? (though I do love music that could be described as "cold" as well) I'm glad you enjoyed this.

on What I think (Second Version) by StephenPotter
I am probably the only human being in the world that hates sidechain. lol
I didn't likey the sidechainy... Dynamics that flow smoothly really get me.
But!!!

Despite that.... For your age, the emotional content and quality is kinda humbling.
You just PWNed the Key of B.
Fantastic work...
I really enjoyed this!
Nice to meet yer music!
:)
StephenPotter
StephenPotter replied Unknown
I think the sidechain was over the top, this was before I learned to use the peak controller though so I actually manually sidechained, hence why it sounds too much. I have got better versions of this song but none of them are as long as this one.

But this is one of the more complicated emotional melodies I've done, which makes me feel very happy :D

But thanks for the review!

on End of Seasons by Cybertooth
Interesting sub toned dissonance at the intro... I found that to be fascinating and enjoyed it a lot..

I like yer style man.

I mean.. Art being that it's subjective, when I hear "un" harmonized, it makes me think "what's he trying to say?"
you know?

There's something tense. I get that.
Seasons changing.

Very interesting ... very strange. Very cool.

I hope you find the singer yer lookin' for...
Stylistically you are like a glitchy orange cranberry scone. And it pairs well with sonics and coffee.

(I don't even know what I am talking about lol but great track!)
Cybertooth
Cybertooth replied Unknown
ive got a backup plan if i dont get the singer. unfortuantely, the only time i didnt intend dissonance however was in the sub frequencies, got enough other interesting things, the bass was only to give it depth. The break is subject to slight change soon too. but i know exactly what you mean about "un" harmonized, when people hear new styles of music, they say it isnt music. this song isnt really any style despite its roots, its just an attempt to appeal to the art of music instead of the feel (which comes naturally along with the art). On seasons changing yes, it seems like an end, an end to an eternity that just swings by too fast. However, i like to compare my style of music more to abstract art, most of it i like is in black and white, why? because when you only have grayscale, you have to concentrate less on making it colorful and more on the form of it, the individual parts on their own look strange, but the whole is something amazing. colorful abstract art usually just looks like something someone made on drugs

on Steam by theHumps
Wow.
I got chills instantly.
That's a fave in my book.

You rock tits!

OH, haha, again going with my response thing, a thing I learnt workin in a studio for a bit, was when recording some acoustic steel strings, is to soak the left hand in water for 4-10 minutes before the take, then the skin becomes kinda soft and won't cause any of the squeaky mouse sounds.
Lotion works too, but then you get grimey strings.

I loved it man.
You are a standout musician with a twenty foot ear for music.
theHumps
theHumps replied Unknown
Thanks man. I know what you mean about the string squeeks. I have a great tool in Audition called the spot healing brush, it removes these squeeky noises and things like that. I got rid of the worse ones and left a few in to show off, haha. No really, just left a few in to show it was an honest day at the office.

Thanks for the nice words, much respect back!

It's beautiful man.

Well arranged, compression nice and smushy. Cool orchestra drums.
They would be the only thing I think that kinda sticks out a little tho?... It's not a bad thing, I just only pick at the stuff I notice while listening that pulls me out of that just relaxing/enjoyment feeling.

I love your choice in chords and melody. Totally fits the title.

AWESOME Rob.. I know this is a bit older.. Reminds of the DnB I used to hear.. haha, just like everyone else here.
Fantastic stuff.
Hmnn... I would like to hear it faster tho!

You know.. if you ever get around to just messin' around and you come back to this one, I would totally love to hear this sped up to 180 after a rush! I mean.. that's only a quarter faster right?.. the vocals should fit the algorithm I suppose?
You could throw in hella Amen breaks lol

You know that's funny. I just might get back into this one again...My buddy grizzly said the same thing about the tempo on this. Since it's been exported I can open it up in cubase as a wav and invert stretch it to tempo of about 180. Or just make some adjustments and change the tempo to 180 and redo the drums and add in the amens you're hinting at...lol...hmm...it's a possibility...But a little bit of work. I might just do that...Thanks for the review and for favin it...I appreciate that brutha :) Peace...

Very cool changes! Totally tensed up the mood, and you completely and utterly responded effortlessly!

As I am, I love to over-complicate and ruin music lol.. so this was very interesting to me as a listener because I wanted to go create something just hearing this!

Aches for vocals in my opinion. But as a standalone piece it's very chilling and relaxing.

I loved the hip-hop vibe it had as well.
