I think audio is one of the few forms that can completely be taken and reinterpreted, and immediately enjoyed.
Maybe I am thinking too fast here, but it's interesting, because someone could take the Mona Lisa, and then "re-mix" it, but it would surely not be effective, as perhaps, some young kid from Atlanta who is going to take this 23 second piece of audio and turn it into a masterpiece.
Love it.
Audio Sketchbooking indeed.
Screw Loops.
It's a sketchbook!!!
:)
Cheers!
Hey Abe that's a cool analogy....I agree, sound is there to be interpreted, reinterpreted and in the process reinvented I guess...in 75 I was at the Louvre standing in front of the Mona Lisa,or I should say trying to stand in front of it,at least 50 Japanese tourists had the same idea, and even then there was a five metre exclusion zone in the form of a rope barrier and gaurd...however forty feet to the left was this most exquisitely small six inch painting also by DaVinci with no one around it..I think I spent over an hour looking at it from a distance of half a foot, just drinking in it's genius..I could see the stokes of his paint brush, which was either a single or double haired brush!...At the end of the day paintings are what they are, things of canvas and inspiration that are designed to hang on walls..I have no problems with people reinterpreting the images digitally but as you say the process doesn't translate as well as audio media does...maybe it's because you can't see sound and the mystery of it can be recreated.
Hah, I think you and I come up with the best titles for loops.
Title makes me think about ... what kinda map is it.. not the mole-weed.. but Gah.. they were trying to figure out how to map a digital world to a topography and basically the only way they could do it was to make a donut.
Anyhow. This loop is awesome.. Your drum loops are great lol I would consider this more trip-hop (gah what is with the hop? tempo.. i guess)
Anyway thanks for sharing these sir.
It is much appreciated, I am really enjoying making loops more than music nowadays heh.
Hey Abe..thanks man, yeah I debated with myself about what genre this would go under..trouble is the genre list is a tad short..Trip Hop sounds about right but just in Hip Hop didn't seem to go.....Loop making is cool isn't it..it's like musical sketching..though sometimes I see how much time I've spent on a loop and think..Jeez I'll never get that bit of my life back!lol..cheers man...Dave

Man I love the current theme you have been producing!
I particularly liked how you mixed the bent saws(?) and the timpani's.
This is a fantastic and interesting genre twister.
