And the voice cried, "Know thyself!" before the skin sluffed and shed...and that too was added to the Totem. Actually Abe, a cryptic review from you is like a breath of perfumed air, (apple orchard in springtime bloom) and I'm honored you had a listen to this one. You're right - it has evolved significantly from its first attempt, and one I'm really happy with. Stale World Music bootstrapped dynamically into Something Else entirely. My favorite moment is towards the end, when the Egyptian fiddles slide in and the drums pan insanely before the pygmy refrain returns. To me, that's what this song's all about - we are all without exception children of the diaspora. Thanks for this review, Abe. It means more than you know.

LOL!!! Yeah, I tend to be a bit lazy with things like EQ/Comp even mixing. Man, I'm really glad that someone has liked these little projects. I was inspired by the images of these bodies and when I started I didn't get much until about my 10th try. I exhausted a few galaxies, planets and stars trying out NGC 7293, NGC 5128, NGC 6751, Mars, the sun, and many others. Hopefully I can try again and see if I can make more, I also like them allot, they calm me :) And yes, please feel free to contact me for anything, I like to help as much as I can and I consider myself pretty laid back and down to earth (even though my mind is in the sky!) hehe

Mastering is where you have a lot of opportunities... I feel... mastering to me, is about pulling out all of the sounds, and giving them a right place...
allowing pitch and frequency to lay flat against a constant moving speaker... kinda....

I just think this could shine more with more left and right disparities, and perhaps higher frequencies.. I may be wrong...

I appreciate what you said about me having a theme, I try my best. Which leads me to what you've said about mastering. I used to try and master my tracks to perfection, with some pretty good results. More recently I've been using mastering as an artistic tool, generally to help give my tracks a signature sound.
This track I think is still lacking a bit, like you've said. I don't know if I'll be going back to it though. Probably because some of the tracks I did around this time bore me a bit. :)

But I want them vocals, and I also think some more velocity or dynamics with the drums will help pan in and out of verse chorus verse bridge thing..(Post edit - Drum rolls, snare rolls, tom rolls.. snares and rides... Cymbals??.... who cares if you mess up, you may find something appealing to your ears, or it was just my ears ;)

i wish i went to full sail, but im taking audio masterclass online and its actually better than i thought
but with the drums, thats about as loud as i can get them without any distortion

i don't really know which is the best way for mastering, but when i do my track in reason 4 i open a compressor and a maximizer for EACH instrument tweaking it to imporve audio.Also i make some tweaks at the Master Mixer's EQ with the purpose of preventing the sounds blocking each other.
and that's much it what i do.
but one thing is true : Mastering is hard sometimes because if you change just a little and i mean just a little of the mastering procces and all the track sounds completely different.
But oh well.....

I thought about the glitch/delay stuff you got goin on? i woulda liked more variation, but rhythmically, but fantastic job nonetheless. furthermore I was thinking about your mastering on this, it's really impeccable, but i thought about overhead visuals in my musical minds eye.. the overdubs sounded a little claustrophobic, but then again, it really makes you FEEL the content.

thanks i really appreciate it, yeah i need to work with the effects and getting them exactly how i want them, i sent this man the beat and he just rapped over it i would've liked to have my hands even deeper in the creative process but im some what satisfied. and with mastering i'm just starting to learn about it i know a little, i just use izotope ozone and and get the EQ how i want it... i appreciate the feedback lets stay in touch add me on myspace im going to posting up more work as soon as i get the chance
