I LOVE the phaser thingy on your guitar! Wait is that bass???
I like that...
There's this production technique called dubstep, which reminds me of that wobble in a way.. I trip on Dubstep cats tho...

It's been different acting as a synthesis guy with a guitar at times heh...
This is excellent bro!
Kinda this grooving Pantera Deftones AIC/SP feel..
Most definitely JUST YOU tho...
well thats more of a fuzz bass i honestly can't remember if I added chorus to that.Ya know I updated from guitar rig 3 to guitar rig 4 and it packs some great effects. worth checking into. thanx for checking my track out. love your stuff

Altho, if you are feeling really crazy, I would think about adding some really Sawey waved synths with the epic eponymous digital wash you have going that to me represents the predatory... but please? introduce a simple counter melody?
I am feeling a TB-303.. but I could be wrong...
Something very striking timbre pops into mind.. something SCREAMING for life.
Is this a done endeavor?
I think there's more to be discovered here...
But for the time being, I am going to STFU and just enjoy this.

POST EDIT.
Thank you!
You know, I was listening again today, and I was thinking about something....
The thing about cats....
This was told to me by a friend, and I have never forgotten it, and I know this is off of the music part, but more of the storyline...
but cats are amazing predators and amazingly agile.
The problem with cats, and the theories on them, is that they see the world literally like people saw the special effects in the matrix... (I should most definitely linkage some reference, but hear me out)
When you take a cat out of it's element, it immediately shuts down as a predator. It has to COMPLETELY stop all functions and watch every little detail in the room.
For example, if you move a cat from one house to another with a cage, and you release the cat, It moves slowly, checking everything out.
And day after day, the cat becomes more accustomed, and eventually the cat is jumping off the ceiling fan and scratching your face off.
Anyway, keep me posted... all I can really do with GMAIL is log in and see what's happening but can't do anything else in my account.
I wonder at times if it has anything to do with their current state of affairs.
Bad news on gmail, as I did send a draft for advice. Let me know when you're up, will you? You know my impression Abe, and you're the audience I'm thinking about (including motivation, you know? Read 'storying'.)
This is the first draft I've gotten under 10 minutes long. Most takes are running between 12 and 17 minutes, so the Beast has a life of its own. My latest attempt has been to render individual and two tracks together and reimport the lot into a new session to try some things with isolation and perhaps more manipulation of the sense of time. Ableton Live 7 LE's got severe limitations, but I'm understanding things well enough to work around them at last.
I'm absolutely intrigued by your suggestion to add a counter melody, and I'm sure that's going to set me down several unexpected paths. Sweet!
I'm so glad you're back! And I owe you a huge thanks, as you're the ONE that convinced me to defect to the Ableton camp. Cheers for that!
Hey Abe..how's it going man...just because I'm an Aussie doesn't mean my music is Australian...I might be a reincarnated Brazilian or something! lol...I think AC/DC is very Australian in a 70's-80's pub rock style..not surprising as this is where they cut their sound....I'm going to channel something un-Australian next time.hahaha...cheers buddy :)
Thanks. I always went Falcon.. lol.
I compressed the snare and the kick, that was about it. I always put an EQ on every track though.. always last in the chain. I find it the best way to get every sound sitting where it should be and nice and clear.
Excellent backflip out of the double twist maneauver thing-a-ma-jig at 2:00 mark...
Phasing was also very pleasing...
Starts to infect the brain!
favorite is by far the crescendo...
You get this released?

Do you work with locals and stuff?... You should think about it?

HIGLY ENJOYABLE!

Definitely faving.
Thanks a lot for the review.Distorted rock n'roll thing sounds like a good description to me.In fact,I never really think about the genre,I just write the way I feel.I didn't tried to sell my music for the moment cause I think I still need to improve my songs especially the mixing part.
Thanks again for reviewing
Cheers

crazy... I am recording something similar without the main change at chorus...
I mean.. something like this BEGS for instrumentation... be it LFO bass work or some audio clips (vocal, guitar, whatever)
I need a story!... it has all the elements but nothing emotional to back it up! err!
THIS IS HIGHLY EMOTIONAL, I ACTUALLY RESPONDED TO THIS LISTEN/REVIEW! lol
I love it, and I am faving and downloading (probably to remaster)
but you have exceptional talent!
I like all of your synths and layout..
BUT IT IS MISSING SOMETHING ENDEARING!
If you think there's something missing, by all means, take it and add to it. That's why it's up here, for suggestions and remixes. I'm excited to hear what can be done with it...
Cheers for the listen and review...much appreciated!
Quick and inconsequential points of views from me, I noticed the changes in timbre and tonality man. (I am thinking it's compression???) If you are using ableton or Cubase or something, I would drop some room reverb on some of your vocal takes and make it seem like I am in a room with you? Just a thought.
Just saying!
I love it... it's really a sadistic comedy on men... And it's brilliantly performed.
I love the Indain vocal editing! I really appreciate music that embraces life, and has a personal story (i don't write music personally as a rule if it doesn't signify something important to me)
N0mad23 sent me btw... Thanks Sean!!
Dopeness how you are getting upped by some of major users on looperman. Nice!
You should check out SienSystem when you get a free chance, he very very much does ambient style stuff that you would dig (i think)
Mastering I think could be worked on, because I can internally hear a lot of headroom. (I am that jacckass that gets in your car and won't stop messing with your EQ lol)
My ears feel like this is maxing around -3 decibels...
Another little thought, and not big, but on the bugs, you should try layering some stuff on there.. maybe introduce a melody...
anyway
thank you for making this!
Wow, thanks for the great review! I have indeed noticed the props from the big dogs. I'm basking in the glory while trying not to let it go to my head, haha. Um, and also trying not to feel intimidated about coming up with new stuff. Not sure I can make another ambient piece as good as this one! It was one of those effortless and inspired moments, almost like the piece was making itself. So... we'll see, I guess.
This was only the second song I ever put together, so at the time I didn't even know what Mastering was, and I have lost the original file, so I'd have to build it from scratch again if I wanted to mess with that. Actually, that could be why there's so much headroom. Since I lost the original work, I think I rendered this version from Acid off of an mp3 that had found its way into iTunes. Messy.
You seem like the kinda guy who could appreciate a nice tube amp for his receiver. I like that!
Thanks again for stopping by. I'll give you my thoughts when I get to your tracks in a bit. I just added you on myspace too!
I love this track..
this is from a drummer that knows music.
"I can't hear it all the way (alividlife pulls up the volume)
It's cool I like it! not bad! I would actually listen to this! I liked how it started and how it ended.. it had an actual progression.."
LOL
not a very helpful review.
I think you are more talented than you know holmes.
:) Thanks man! I really want to upgrade this one sound-wise. I only need 2 things to be able to open the files! I'm just happy that I actually found the track after all this time.
hah, I love that accapella!
I remember throwing it down on some crazy industrial mess.
I like your rhythm...
Intoxicating is the thought....
I was looking thru some books, because I remember seeing the chord structure for the song.. err the traditional Celtic/Irish ballad that it is... (sorry for pissing off any red heads lol)
I know there's huge differences.. it must be celtic....
no?
hmnn
anyway
I think that could be an interesting concept to think about.. You could take the traditional song structure of the folk song, and then try an compliment the chill groove with some kinda raspy representation of the original composition..
just a thought...
It is like pseudo ... Trance, Ethnic, Hip-hop, folk.
Love it man.. Especially the banshee singing at the end. Really kinda ties into the story.
Say, how would you like to do some electric guitar work here? I'd love to hear the melody line in a howling drone - like with an ebow, or at least without attack on the notes.
To me, this track's got serious "wtf?" happening - and even my expectations are shaken by it. It's still draft #1, so we'll see where it goes by the time it gets done.
Glad you're around - somehow the site feels a whole lot friendlier with your presence here.
I like the space in the drums.. there's a lot of cool space in there!
This is just my preference, but I like a little more grit to synths, accompanied with chill factors...
For some reason it makes me think about the whole grunge scene that happened in Seattle.. Hard and then soft...
I am usually cluttering my mixes, and I felt there was even more in this track you didn't get to do... (More Pads!! I am a pad whore tho)
But either way, I really enjoyed this!

That sounds like a fun experiment with the sends at all, there's just one problem... When my motherboard died I had to take a drop in performance and memory. This makes it so adding a lot of fx makes it so I can't hear my song without major glitching. It's a bit frustrating, but I like a raw sound anyway...heh.
Otherwise I'm very happy that you liked this one. "crawling out of my skin but in a lovely way", that's so cool, and interesting to hear!

more distortion on the bass!!!! (3rd edit, No ... maybe.. just promptly i suppose.. there needs to be a rush of energy .. that I felt could be gained by a distorted saw wave style bass on this.. it would break the context of the mix.. but it might shock people...)
