Man, this is so spacy/electronic/alternative. Love that intro. The slow build caught my attention right away. As always, you work in so many elements but in such a subtle way that it's never predictable. All of a sudden I'll hear something woven in and think 'when did that start?' lol

So good. Great stuff! I'm a fan. I fav'd :)

thanks so much for such a nice comment! I'm really glad you liked the track although it's so special and 'unlike' as I experiment a lot and still trying to find my own style and put it into some kind of a musical expression.

So well produced. I thought I was listening to David Guetta with those vocals. I dont seek out dubstep on here but I like your work so thats why I gave it a listen. Glad I did. The use of the acapella was perfect!

Nice work. Cheers

Hey Paisan! Come stai?

This track was so good! A little pop, a little rock ,a little jazz just like you said. Kinda trippy at parts too. I like how the bass player liked to show his moves once in awhile also, haha.

Luv it! I fav'd :)

on Proximal Vicinity Spivkurl Mix 13B Master B by Spivkurl
I hesitated in listening and reviewing this track cause I know its part of the Mixing competition. I listened to the original but not the others. Not yet anyways.

But I had to give yours a listen cause I know your talents and wanted to hear them on display. And of course they come through loud and clear. The original track (minus the purposeful mistakes) is excellent on its own. So some good material to work with. Love what Im hearing. Atmospheric, cinematic and just enjoyable. Funny, one thing that stuck out was the snare. So crisp and it pops out.

Excellent work Pat! I fav'd :)

Thank you RW for your comment, I'm sorry it's taken so long to reply. I had a lot of fun doing this mix/master, and I'm so happy to be one of the winners! I agree that the original is very good, and the stems were very nice quality, which made the whole thing easier and more enjoyable. You know that cinematic is not my favorite or my specialty, so it's good to get a positive reaction to this. Other's were complaining about the lack of dry stems, especially the percussion... really I didn't feel like any of it was overly effected to begin with. I did try to tame the reverb on the main percussion a bit though. Gates can do wonderful things when manipulating the feel of a percussion line, and I use them almost too much. Glad that it sounds good though. Thanks again!

Wow! I think Im turning into your biggest fan. Looperman now has a resident jazz/fusion musician. How do you put out such quality work so fast? lol

I'll let others do the long, drawn out, cliched reviews. I'll just sit back and enjoy the music.

Excellent work! Another fav from me.

hi. sorry for my slow reply. I am glad you liked the track! The idea here was to combine some improvised jazz lines, jazz and ethinc percussions all together also with my e piano playing and create some 'fusion' song. I wish I could create more tracks like this soon. The groove is a bit odd here but still it works and it is quite fluent. My inspirations for fusion is 'Mahavishnu Orchestra' or 'Wheather Report' and the jazz/rock/funk fusion from 70's and early 80's. I listened a lot to jazz as well. Still trying to get more into jazz keyboard playing.
Thanks again, Alex

So well done. Good production on this one. Like the build ups and the break has a lot going on in that short time frame.

It sounds like someone could jump in with some vocals to give it another dimension. Nothing complex or too busy, just some cool vocal lines. Preferably female cause they work so awesome with house.

Good job

on Dont Keep Your Love Away Parts 1 and 2 by EricMilligan
What a treat. Here's something you don't hear everyday. I heard Strawberry Fields at the beginning after the acapella intro and then it just got better from there.

Part 1 was good but to my surprise I liked part 2 even more. Very Moody Bluesish in the second part.

If I could pull off something like this I'd impress myself :)

Great work. I faved

Yes, definitely some Strawberry Fields in there! And I agree that Part 2 is probably more interesting, music-wise. I wish I paid more attention in my harmony and counterpoint classes. I really have no idea what I'm doing. Just fiddle around until stuff sounds OK to me.

Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment, RenzWilde. I really do appreciate the feedback.

So well done. Great production. It sounded a lot like Evanescence to me, that's a compliment. I'm not a dubstep fan but I dont think I'd call this dubstep.

What occurred to me as I listened, since it reminded me so much of Evanescence, is the section starting at 1:41, then repeated later, could of been made really heavy with short, choppy guitar chords in unison with the music.

Good job

Excellent sounds. Sounds that I am very unfamiliar with, lol. I can only break down the track on the enjoyability factor and I really enjoyed listening to it. Personally, I wouldn't even know where to begin with something like this. I have enough troubles with electronic music :/

Great work on this track.

i am really glad you had a chance to hear it Renz and liked the sounds. sometimes just effecting old school sounds can make something fresh. i automated some chorus on a Yamaha "shanai" sample for example. the enjoyability factor means a lot. when i concern myself about that it pushes me to make things just a little tighter and a little more interesting. appreciate very much your visit and comment. you know I am looking forward to your next music for art! regards - Dan

Diggin' the house FR style! I'm lovin the first part of this track. The intro reminds me of Kraftwerk's Tour de France and anything that reminds me of KW is a hit with me :) Like how everything comes together. The second part is ok, but not as fun as the first. But I know FR likes him some long tracks so a fade out at 5:25 probably wasnt an option, lol.

Enjoyed your house track as usual.

Bonjour Jacques. Comment allez-vous?

Cette chanson est très bonne!

The production sounds great. Is that Celine Dion? Ha, just kidding :) I hope you find someone to sing an english version like you are looking for with a strong voice also.

I'm impressed by you Jacques. First you win a Stanley Cup with les Habitants, then you become a Senator and now you are making music. Very impressive!

À bientôt!

on circle of light by DanGoldstein
Wow! This has really come along. I honestly can say I can't recognize it from the 1 minute or so piece you originally posted. The one thing I do recall is the reverb you had on that you mention was removed. That part I would of noticed, it has so much more punch now. It showcases the lines so much better.

The piece is very complex. The solo, not sure what it is, sounds great. The drum pads that start after the break at 1:43 sound excellent on my headphones.

I did notice the long tag at the end. Not sure if that was on purpose or not :/

You combined some great sounds. Amazing to see this piece come alive. Great work!

I'm envious of the 10 min tracks you constantly produce. The tracks always sound good but it's the length that I admire, the track length i mean ;)

Being a Kraftwerk junkie, I swore I wouldn't produce anything under 6 minutes, lol.

Sounds like you got a sweet acapella pack there. The first part sounds great. Like the way the bassline carries the tune to the break, then a well done build up. The track fills out after the break and the 2 vocal parts work excellent together. Great harmony there.

But is it ok to like the 2nd part better?lol It is awesome! The vocal lines are great and you built a sweet bed track underneath it. Luv the haunting little break and the funky drums after that go perfect. It's like you teased with the 2nd song. That could be expanded into a killer track, imo.

For something that sounds like you weren't sure about uploading, this kicks....especially the 2nd part :]

FreeRadical
FreeRadical replied 3rd Aug 2014 - 11 years ago
I don't mind if you like the second part better lol. Yeah, i have quite a selection of purchased accapellas but most of the time i can never get them to fit, so it's nice that i managed to score a double whammy in terms of things being in the right key/tempo ect. I would have liked to have done more with the second track but i ran out of room. The only reason i make such long tracks is because i like to squeeze as much tunage as possible into the alloted time frame. I'd gladly trade down on the amount of tracks we can upload in favour of a longer time frame. I did an hour long mix not so long ago but i can't share it on here which i think is a dam shame but there you go.
Anyway, cheers for stopping by and i won't make any crass comments about track bumping this time lol (i was probably pissed when i did that or something)
Anyway, how about a collab sometime? I think i could work something with your style.

on 8 Bit world - Remix by aelmen
Well, I hadn't heard the original so I had to listen to it before your track. Thx for providing the link.

I thought the original was brilliant. I love 8 bit and thought Jeicee produced an excellent track.

Then I wondered how you're track would compare. Fantastic! Take this the right way I hope, but it sounds like Pet Shop Boys did a remake :) I kept waiting for Neil Tennant's vocals to start at some point, haha.

You reproduced this so well while still maintaining true to the original. And very cool lead. Although the production is very clear, your lead kinda sounds and feels retro, which is awesome! All those bends, I could picture someone playing it on one of those stand up guitar/synth keyboards that where popular in the 80s.

Great work. Your quickly becoming one of my favs :)

Great that you did listen to the original track first. I really hope that people understand that this is a remix.

Good old Pet Shop Boys you said... What an honor!

My intention was to maintain the original sound and feeling and just add some additional effects and supporting sounds and of course a cool lead with sliding sound and bending notes.

yes one could picture a long haired guy with fluffy hair style jumping around the scene playing the lead. :)

Thanks for listening!

cheers,

on Blow Your Mind by steve010101
I have never written a trance track but I have a suggestion for a transition. At :44 when the drums come in, I'd throw a change in 4 bars after that. Drop a key or whatever. The 2 parts going back and forth, maybe with little variations , leading up to your break at 2:15. Another possibility is expand on that break as well. Keep it as is for a few bars, then have it build up a bit more dramatically to the return of the main theme.

Just my input since you said it was a work in progress and you're looking for suggestions.

Sounds good so far, like to hear it when you feel it's complete. Good luck!
