Hey LC...cool stuff man!....dig your voice!and that's a wicked bass line, totally pumping..you know it was only after I uploaded this guitar loop that I realized I shouldn't have put so much reverb on so people could adjust it themselves (had a few complaints regarding that)....but you've used it well!..keep the righteous rhythms going mate! cheers Dave :)

Nice 1 mate i really enjoyed this riff got in the music mode while i was creating this track i was gonna put some wobbles in it but thought no it would ruin it so i came up with some vocals and just kept it simple im happy you liked it let me know when you post some more reggae riffs on here nice 1

on TOMMY by oasisduke
Hey there Miss English titled person who spends time in desert springs ;).....When I'm listening to this I'm getting this 'Boutique' type vibe..no not as in a hair salon,(maybe a dress shop)lol..but as in a specialized, exclusive and probably way expensive establishment or product....I guess what I'm saying is it's got a sophisticated air about it...not for the riff raff! haha....it's a cool ride made even smoother with Ricky's modelesque vocals, definitely one for the "in" set....cheers Planet :)

Man I was learning how to tie my shoe laces at 11(I have no idea actually it was that long ago,but I wasn't laying grooves down! lol)...you know I was going to say just because of your age it doesn't automatically get you a glowing review,as I was feeling the intro section of this track was a little repetitive, but suddenly it changed gear and shifted into a darker groove with some great counterpoint rhythms..I like it!...and seeing as it's your first track double bonus points! haha....good stuff mate your on a roll, keep it up...cheers Planet :)

Holy sh!t man..this is totally Z-zoned.....it's like someone put a smile in a centrifuge and ramped it up to 11..there is no cure for this sickness..it's a god-damned plague beat and surely must be sinful....this here's the Devil's music we wuz all warned about.....forgive me Father for I have folk danced....(but I get the feeling this could encourage the horizontal variety! lol).........off the charts Z.....insane stuff!

Hey Richie....Man I can listen to this and see a lot of music has passed under your musical bridge....it's a great if not perfect backdrop for the acapella,no overplaying or domineering attitude, just a superb foil...it's seamless!...Now I'm hardly going to finish up this review without taking an opportunity to gush over Pat's vocal skill(z)! haha....I sometimes wonder how aware the general Looper public is of having a talent like Patricia around...amid all the flotsam and jetsam in the world, some tide of fortune has seemingly deposited her here(or until she's famous)....Fantastic music and totally the genuine article! cheers Dave

Hi Dave

It's such a lovely analogy "a lot of music has passed under your musical bridge". I think it's a very kind way of saying something else!! He he! It has, and continues to be, an interesting and enjoyable voyage.

I agree completely with your comments regarding Patricia. Such an immense talent and a real privilege collaborating with her. We are all so very lucky. Glad you liked the track and thank you for the comments particularly the "no overplaying" observation. I always try to work on the "less is more" principle.

Thanks again

Richie

on HWFI dope delicious REMIX by nepaul
Hey man(men)...definitely better version,as in it's tighter and more open and able to breathe better..this is bleedin great, the vocals are a lot more intergrated with one another and they all sound on point..the earlier version had some frequency overlap and distraction with all that scratching...mind you a well placed whipff whipff is a perfect rhythmic insert occassionally.......you know this is the sort of HH I really dig....it reminds me of why I got into music in the first place, more specifically why I got into beat music....good rhythm is universal..it's like a spunky woman,it affects you on an instinctive level...well most people anyway! lol...great work people!
nepaul
nepaul replied 10th Feb 2012 - 13 years ago
I'm a little surprised most folks are liking this version more. Guess since I produced both, I know what type of creative energy was put into each. I spun this one out pretty quick while the other took a lot longer, was more complex. Either way I'm very happy with both and I glad you enjoyed them as well. Thanks Planet!

on How We Flip It by nepaul
Cool..pretty trippy actually and definitely has an underground flavour(how the f*ck would I know,I'm no expert..lol)..but I do get the feeling it's way out there moving under it's own steam and shoving it to the conventional norms....nepaul probably has my favourite HH tone(vocally)but I like the give and take of the group situation which has a special dynamic all it's own....very cool and dare I say ....Dopage! haha cheers Dave
nepaul
nepaul replied 8th Feb 2012 - 13 years ago
Yeah, it's not your typically rap beat. More downtempo trip hop. I've never been one of those traditional hiphop monkey's, so I know this one's not going to please the masses. Thanks for the review Planet! And by the way, so your up on the lingo, kids these days call it "dopeness!" lol. Peace, NP.

on Words for Thought (Feat Thezerit) by yeshintae
Man I thought I was in lounge town when this started!..haha... It's a great track,so very..what's the right word?...Ahh yes, anthropomorphic in many ways....You've taken some chintzy midday movie like strings amalgamated it with some soft bass and catchy dry drums and then layed this amazing vocalization by Thezerit on top...It's totally and remarkably human from every aspect..it's as if a piece of "The Blob" (the Steve McQueen 50's ScFi flic) fell into one of E.M.I's record pressing machines, while a certain stoned individual was at the controls!..ahahaaha....DOPAGE! (I like that saying! lol)

on F It Im Dead by thephilosofist
I have to agree with Bear here,I was aware that you had excellent vocal skills.....if you can successfully merge this with your instrumentation (which surely is a given)your home free....I was thinking this is very Synth Hop and low and behold that's exactly as you described it!lol..the way your mixing the recurrent melody is great, the added affectations of bass and rhythm hits make this something that isn't repetitive in the least so it flows and feels fresh...excellent work! and I'm sure there's a lot more to come!..cheers Dave

on Do you remember - featuring NateMonoxide by RichieWinn
Hey Richie, great work man!..this sounds super fresh and right in the sweet spot..if the Ramones had practiced a little more they might have sounded like this!(or at least aspired to sound like this)...as you say the vocals are superb, full of confidence, optimism and polish...Pop music is probably one of the hardest genres to crack (I have absolutely no clue where to even start)and to get a tune up and running that sounds this good is testament to your talent,I also love the no synth all guitars angle...man I hope some station picks this up,it deserves it!...cheers Dave

Hi Dave

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to listen and comment. Always appreciate it. I thought the "all guitar" approach was a good idea and thank you so much for even mentioning Ramones in the same sentence as my sound on this track. It is a great compliment - thank you.

Best regards

Man I dig this groove, ever since back in the day when a friend of my sister's asked if I wanted to go to a concert with some bloke called Bob Marley playing I've been a convert...apart from the great bottom end and rhythm groove I love the horn arrangement,it cerebrally takes me back into that early Calypso modal frame but with an orchestrated contemporary slant...this is great stuff!..you definitely have the waters of Babylon flowing through you..way cool! cheers Dave :)

I new you would get where this track was coming from PJB. I watched the great Bob Marley and the Wailer's in the north west of England back in the prior 1970's in Blackpool. AWSOME experience.
After getting lost among your 500 year old musical library .. I thought? What is it that I can contribute to this Society here on Looperman and? Well it is you to come here and talk with me about music and SONG. I am well happy mr Ozzy Jock!

You have my RESPECT & LOVE dude. Peace AND Love.

The Clan Sinclair's came from the north East Of The Highland's In The Burugh Of Caithness .. They Fought a very famous battle where they all warrior'ed into battle to the Absalute End. true scottish Warriors. (cle'n nhigh ashoct mie'm ardoch.)

You are so kind sir with your feedback and input. I was surfing the looperman blog for the firs time today and your comment caught my attention Mr PJB. I Absolutely agree with your Analogy that POP MUSIC IS SO FUNKING Dumbed down slightly & maybe beyond! but this is the sign of the times when you look at the MOVIE industry, all that special effect's that we are all becoming accustom to? To be honest, I still enjoy a good James Cagney film or Jack Pallance.
You are an inspiration to me my friend and I want you to know I am so delighted that you give soo much away of your talent, I hope the youngies will respect your word and Input. Respect and much Love your way. G'DAY MATE.

on Why Cant You Love Me by FullCapicityMuzic
What a great riposte to my thread query....Well Mizz Muzic in light of that superb performance (sound of prolonged applause!).. it's interesting how a successful song affects people(namely me! haha)..on one level I'm experiencing the gratification of an enjoyable experience but there's also the aspect of memory over time..how I'll replay this song in my head, how I'll hear things differently that I didn't fully absorb initially, for example the backing harmonies..these are some of the sublimest moments within this tune....I think in many ways you personify the art of song writing and performing..your projecting authentically into the composition and this is reflected in the performance...I have to be careful and not sound like some gratuitous music hack, but the fact remains you've got a world class talent.....I'm not alone in this thinking by anymeans!...Superb!

on Wanna Be In Love by FullCapicityMuzic
Great track Muzzzzzzzic!....a splendid performance....the backing music, the vocals and whole vibe is really cool.....But!lol I'm putting my studio hat on here so please don't think this is negative, the whole sound needs to be remastered maybe,it's there but hidden under a layer of what sounds like a mastering preset..I'm not hearing the individual dynamics of the instruments enough or your fantastic voice brought to the level it should be.....Don't get me wrong I love the song and the music, but it's not breathing enough on the production side of things....mind you having said all that,it might be that my ears are shot! lol.....I always think there's a risk involved with critiquing or rather someone like myself who isn't a professional studio technician passing judgement.....your a real talent,no dispute....maybe what I'm really saying is you deserve a big production house behind you. :)

Hey there DoctorMood....Couldn't pass this title by without a listen..interesting composition!...The banjo has attracted a disproportional amount of detractors over the years and I suspect this has more to do with it's presumed social affiliations than any sound it ever produced....It's great to see somebody injecting a new slant on an instrument that's been the backbone and sometimes virtuoso voice of many styles of music....cool stuff!and hope to hear more...cheers Planet ..Oh,and Welcome to Looperman! :)
