Heavy hitter that's for sure..maybe segue into the main groove with a downtempo intro..it's a cool mix and the bassline synth rises very nicely...let me know when you post the finished piece..great work!..cheers planet
Cool track title...I can see you like the percussion side of the ledger...which is great..nice spread of frequencies..no smothering or overshadowing....love those deep woop woops!..very good work!..cheers planet :)
Hey n0mad..my first visit..howdy there...I really like the almost organic texture of this piece,it's got a subtly shifting metronomic appeal..very mesmerising and evolving like a slow flowing musical extrusion...plenty of shades within this and very enjoyable..cool gear!..cheers planet :)
planetjazzbass of crazy, crazy Melbourne - the honor's all mine! I must admit to 'lurking' your music already and amassing some of your loops for potential use. This was my first 'real' piece using Jungulator tech and I'm now bloody dissatisfied with it! The potential is all there, but I can HEAR where there's room for much improvement. Cheers on the listen and review!
Hey mate..I know what you mean..Nice synths with a funky bass line..I really like that that groove it's sort of a backwards progression, like moonwalking...sounds cool!...the vocal stabs work great as well....excellent work man..cheers Dave :)
Hey Lisa..great to see you back in the drivers seat..I must admit I was dismayed when you left the site..You've got a great voice and it should be utilised whenever possible..sometimes life gets in the way..but hey enough of that...This is a darker sound that I'm hearing..cool!..darkness is as much a part of life as light..the heavy synth line works well here and this track has an almost Black Sabbath type vibe...I dig it!...I think we'll have to get the old line up happening again and see what we can do..It's so cool that your singing again..your going to get a whole new fan base kiddo!...cheers Dave :)
hehe the darkness she creeps ;) I have a lot to let out and it seems to me that if I have it in concrete form of songs... it won't happen to me again! Thanks for listening Dave, I'm glad you liked it :) Hopefully I will be able to pull at least a few more out and not go into hiding next time ;)
Ahhh the undead....cool!..Hey Pep I'll bet you'd love a pair of Tympani for your next birthday..lol..Ultra doom drums...they sound huge and spooky with the bells and gongs..excellent visual quality within the track and it's not a stretch to imagine the hordes approaching...unlike MrE..I think I'd just get a bad haircut and skip shaving for a couple of days and pretend to fit in!....Epic!..cheers planet :)
Cool segue into the main groove...I can hear some vocals laying over this(how good would it be to be able to sing as well!)..touches of Southern rock..I always enjoy listening to your work Randy..apart from the great musicianship you bring to any of your tracks you have an obviously wide array of influences and it's cool to recognise snatches here and there..I genuinely feel sorry for the youth of today they only get exposed to mediocre stuff at best..not like our generation eh..lol super composition!..cheers Dave :)
Glad you liked this tune as well. As I mentioned many times, I try and do my best and to make quality recordings....as they'll be floating around on the Internet forever...even after I am gone.
My influences are many. I play what I want to hear and what I hear in my head or dream about some nights.
I'll be 65 next month and so I am really old enough to like all the 60's-80's music mostly. Didn't care for Disco that much though! :-)
Young folks should really go back in time and hear some of the older tunes. They'll be surprised probably at some of the intricate music played back in the day.
This particular tune was just something I put together with nothing special in mind at the moment. One thing led to another. Sometimes just switching channels on TV will give me an idea from a partial tune I hear.
Hell Yeah!...a stadium buster if I ever heard one...venue owners hate these songs..everyone gets on top of the seats, starts dancing and breaks them! lol..This is really really good!..pro quality sound and dare I say it..guitar work up to Bilbozo standard (that's about as good a rap as can give you in this place)..excellent keyboard work as well Randy...bloody marvellous work!..cheers Dave :)
Hi there Dave,
Such a pleasure to have to stop by and listen to one of my latest. I figured most people that were older like me would enjoy this tune. Took quite a while to make as you can imagine.
As far as the guitar work, that was hard as I had to do it in short sections....slower....until I could get the chops down....then put in in the track as normal speed keeping the same pitch.
Thanks for putting me into the likes of Bilbozo. He is truely a great player that's for sure.
I don't believe he has heard this one yet.
Thanks again for your glowing review and I'll be checking out to see what new stuff you may have up too.
Great clean sound..love the separation between the synth sounds...and the chorus is way smooth.....Your right this would be a brilliant vehicle for some vocals..male or female..excellent work! cheers planet
A great vibe.(the collab is insane)it's great to hear this by itself..it can stand on it's own feet..and a perfect tune to underpin expansion...bring back the synth bands of the early eighties!..cool work!..cheers planet :)
Yeah that sounds more punchy and clear!...It's an interesting thing different mixes..I think sometimes they reflect the current trends and sometimes the players own musical bias..Being a bass player means I like more bass! lol..but seriously drums and bass are much more forward in the mix these days compared to where they used to be 30-40 years ago...I think the horns have been balanced brilliantly in this version..their just right..mind you my bias is to pump up the Baritone..ever since I heard Gerry Mulligan blow one of those suckers I've been a convert...I think your getting the right balance on these bigger productions now..much in the same vein that Rob Wilhelm achieves within his work..all frequencies can be heard clearly without any saturation or competition...obviously every track needs special attention ..but I think it's like anything you practice often enough you become good at it..and you man are in the groove....hehe as a side note you'll be happy to hear that I am now nursing some blisters on my fingers (no..not from ripping the cap off it) been getting that chillout track together and over looked that I haven't been playing enough (the bass players curse)...anyway cool mix!..cheers planet ;)
If anything this is the slickest GSN track yet..some great counter rhythms going down..I really like what the bass line is doing and the brilliant sliding horn section..I think I might of touched on this before..but it's very apparent in all your music..it's not so much of what you do and don't do...it's much more about the insertion of Steve Bone's Karma into the track to the extent it becomes a living breathing thing..whether it's a single horn instrumental or a full blown production such as this one...they all resonate with integrity and soul...If we could turn these tracks over we'd find a Hallmark worthy of the best Sterling.
Cheers Dave :)
Hi Dave, I still think you should be my manager lol... Thanks for the glowing review. I have changed a few things since your post. I have lowered the vocals, stripped out the drums in the intro, ripped out a small section after the solo. I think the arrangement sits better now. I would value your opinion...
Very cool...New Wave..but more tripped out with the commercial corners snipped off....Great use of your voice..I like this song..it's all at once serious,a parody, dissonant and melodic at the same time....you've definitely got your own sound..that's more than half the challenge right there...with some nice guit as well...cool tune..cheers planet :)
Ahh..now I have partaken of this particular brew ..I still don't understand how you can still yawn when your trippin' off your face!....This has got some cool guitar happening and the now familiar cool chorus vocals...it really works..I don't often draw comparisons but it is very reminiscent of "Fireside Theatre"..some of my favourite material from the seventies...but somehow this doesn't have the stigma of thirty year old music..it's still fresh and vibrant..great work! cheers planet :)
Cool!...ahh been there done that..with reference to this song...love the chorus..love to garden...vegetables only these days lol...Man this music has a super cool vibe that you don't hear very often these days..it's Sixties early Seventies...thanks for the trip!..cheers planet :)
BON IVER (FOR EMMA, FOR EVER AGO) sorry about the caps.... but I'm excited about a skilled musician like yourself listening to this.... and melting like I did. I had not played guitar in over 10 years but this song changed everything. Much Love Peace
Hey..I think I just walked through a door and exited in Woodstock (the original)...Hehe way cool man..this is great, with a real down home feel....man it's been ages since I partook of de erb..but I remember what it used to be like..this music harks back to pleasanter times when there was still open optimism practised within the youth culture and good vibes was a real commodity and not some fanciful dream...keep it going..the world needs more believers..cheers planet :)
Yes someone feeling those haunting 50's songs that were so wholesome and true. Here's a little secret that might throw you back for a (loop). Its back and in a big way underground, that's why I'm trying to catch that vibe because its so special to me. Grizzly bear, Ancient crux, Animal collective although its more dance, has beach boys type vocals, Bon Iver has done fantastic A-CAPPELLA check out (LaBlogotheque)on youtube That site has changed my life, much love peace.
Heavy dude!..great little synth line interspersed within the main groove...this is a Huge sound!..it's almost in the Cinematic genre...great timing and playing...a cracker..cool! cheers planet
Very good intro....in fact I'll just hang on that for a while...a lot of people completely miss the importance of a good intro..it's like a running race..it's imperative to have a clean start.
I'll say this Curtis, your tracks are really gathering momentum and scope, their getting better and better and that's not a bad reflection on your past work...there's nothing better than experiencing an Artist hone his craft..this is a great production from all angles..with excellent drumming, pads and synth lines....it's the full package..professional work! cheers Dave :)
Really interesting combination of flavours..a great optimistic vibe flows through this piece..well you did name it 'Love' so it's entirely appropriate...I really like this Euro style....it has a section where there's a bit of lapse when the second synth line is introduced..(I don't presume to think this would necessarily improve the track.it's great as it is!)and there's a diminishing of impetus for a brief period, maybe a gentle backgroung FX track like a train or wind etc in a few spots...excellent work..cheers planet :)
Hey..wicked vibe Brandon..I can't make music like this..I can grasp what's going on though...it's got this vortex of sound that just sucks you in..I'm way to old (hehe)for the club scene but I can just tell this would make the crowd go right off..great production with smooth morphing beats and continuity..oh and that totally wicked bass line!..cheers planet
Hey yeah..it doesn't matter what language it's sung in the blues is the Blues...nice flavours with the Hammond and some tight turnarounds...cool stuff way to go!...cheers planet :)
Cool!...some traditional twelve bar blues on the Loop..Welcome to the loop Zarko....nothing beats real music played by real musicians....looking forward to hearing a lot more of your music....cheers planet :)
I think your really "Joe" out of Country Joe and the Fish!...I think I saw you in a clip from Woodstock....This is way cool...I also think you should get a ten gallon hat..for some reason I always picture you in one or imbibing in what you can hide under one!.....Funny thing is if you had of walked on stage at Woodstock and performed this song....you'd be famous..I mean more famous than you are now!..cheers Dave ;)
thanks planet glad ya liked it its an oldie but a goodie! its actually a true story based on the ramblings of a southern gentleman, that crossed my path a while back!
Hey this is different...I think you've got the Chorus vibe absolutely nailed when you do it in your work....a nice juxtaposition of ascending and descending phrases..this track's no exception...great work..you've got style..cheers planet
