Smooth production man....I was wondering how I was going to relate the description of this track to just the music, then the vocals kicked in!....I dig the whole vibe here,it's balanced yet dynamic at the same time....a tricky subject and painful for many, but you've both kept to task and delivered something that's heartfelt yet at the same time is not drowning in it's own self pity...great work!..cheers Dave :)
Thank you for your review. Yes, people know i just do music, but i also like to surprise my listeners with my music also. I guess that is what made you say hmmm? until the vocals kicked in.
Well i am always learning, and hopefully get better and better as my music matures.
Hey Daniel...very nice!this track definitely has heart....a beautiful whimsical vibe suffuses throughout melodically, structurally and productively.....great touch on all instruments, the lead guitar work is perfect!..and I've got to say the drumming is cool...man the number of times I've sat down on a kit and tried to get it together is legion,it's very very difficult for musicians such as guitarists, keyboard players, etc to get drumming right..you use totally different parts of your brain..so big ups for getting the groove down so well!....very enjoyable listening experience...this is the goal..you are there! cheers Dave :)
Hey Men....Whoa! totally riffed out, this is crazy cool....hell the bass line is wicked!...tres chic,it's about time some television network picked up one of your tunes for a cop serial or something..then you'd start getting the proper kudos your music deserves, and you'd be getting paid by the second as well! lol...ok as far as the sound,I know this is a rough mix..love the bass levels, not keen on the very high cymbal frequency, prefer the sheen taken off that a tad,and like one reviewer has already pointed out..adding something like a huge bass drum hit on the drum accents might add a bit more oomph...but these are purely arbitrary observations,I'm sure that when the song list for this album nears completion you'll have hit on the mastering template your looking for and the continuity will be seamless.....you guys do and always will....Rock! cheers Dave =7)
Hi Dave, thanks for the honesty! Mastering and getting the mix right are the things that some bypass for the sake of just getting the track finished and then fishing for complimentary reviews and praise. Those days are gone for me and have been for a good while, I'm wanting to get things right so the finished product can stand alongside the best and most expensive cds and not sound inferior. I will look into the hi end cymbal issue and the punchy bass drum comment. I will keep you posted!
Cheers, Slap...
I'm actually familiar with these guys....and I agree with Humpy, this is way cooler....a really pro sound without any extraneous padding....just the ingredients for a solid hit! lol... have a happy and safe New Year over there in Crow land mate...cheers Dave :)
Nice minimalistic sound!...the space between chords sometimes gives rise to the "it factor" I think this tune has it,not too busy, not too overly complicated...it's just perfect as a vocal vehicle....I'm just imagining what some psyched up rapper could do with this and then maybe drop a little super compressed bass note on the start of the bars....another cool sounding composition...cheers Dave :)
Hey my man...SchmeeJible (we really should be on a first name basis by now,lol)..my first thought here is super solid,no gaps and it up,way up....it's interesting listening to music made by a professional DJ..you'd expect a really slick tight intro, total continuity throughout and that's exactly what's delivered..just like stepping off the curb, there's no time wasted or a honeymoon period where the song has to grow on you....the musical cab has pulled up and off you go...there's a vocalist somewhere that's going to excel on this groove,I just hope he or she can hook up with you...excellent joint (as the Hip Hop crowd say!)great production values and above all fun!...cheers Dave :)
Hey Marie..great to see you as a member of the Loop!.(hopefully you are the same Marie I've seen in the Mix chat room! lol)...you really have a great voice!so many vocalists these days try and do way too much, warbling all over the place....whereas your delivery is excellent, well focused with proper diction and a timbre that adds rather than subtracts from a song's natural ambience..speaking of which Joyfull and Waper have done a fantastic job as well.......the trouble here is I'm a total Anglophile...I love the rhythmic cadence of the British style,it must have something to do with traditional folk influences maybe...anyway I look forward to hearing more of your splendid work in the future..and welcome to the Loop!...cheers Dave/planet
Hi Dave (PJB, lol)
Yes, it's me, the Mixpo addict!
THank you so much!! This song was a challenge for me, WaPer asked me to add vox & write lyrics for it so I dragged JW into it & he came up with my melody & worked with me on the song! Even did my backing vox! All 3 of us are really proud of this one because we created it together, so I cant accept all the praise, lol! WaPER & JW are absolute gems & JW truly is a joy to work with! But thank you for the kind words about my voice! I dont do vocal gymnastics, lol!
Thanks so much. If you want traditional uk music, I have a bad rendition of a Burns' song on mixpo, with stupendous music!
Thanks again!
Mxx
Very nice work here Detlef!...I seriously need to make some new music soon(been too busy with life's little crises and chores)..but I always get inspiration when I listen to your music every time!...you are serious, yet your not..it's loose and it's tight...you are drunk and you are sober...you are straight and you are stoned! lol....love your expressive style and very nice bass lines!.....the Zappo fan club is growing! hehe...cheers Dave :)
hi Dave
They are taking the ideas that influence my environment, and so everything flows together...
thanks my FRIEND
and listen at ... On the path of me enjoy
Yeah! Hip Hop rhythm meets electrostyle synthasia...this is great!...there's a strong retro sound in your playing which is marvellous,it's like the golden years of synthesizer music rolled into a few melodic phrases......what ever you do don't ever change your style...I know guys that would love to get your sound....I really dig this track!..cheers Dave :)
Hey Wayne..man this is so south of the border it tastes of salt and lemon!it might be worth pointing out before I go any further that "The Western" demographic is hard wired into my brain, has been since I was a kid.....love the whole motif running through this,it's traditional Sergio Leone in some aspects but also has a contemporary darker crossover hovering around the periphery..Thanx's harp fits in very well and the guitar is straight from the cantina!great bass as well!.....I also like the space within the piece, lending the listener ample scope to experience the whole soundscape..great work.Love it!..cheers Dave :)
I know what you mean, I'v always love the music in western movies, especially in Sergio Leone's. Appreciate the loops, they were fantastic and really are a big part of setting the mood and impact when they kick in so thanks a heap!!
Super transient emotive piece....there's enough atmosphere within this track to support life!..it never ceases to amaze me how your creative processes work...moments of being, that's what this track is telling me made all the more poignant with the abrupt cut at the end..the end of all things, life so to speak....I love this Minette,it's fantastic listening to your work,it's always evocative and speaks volumes to those who would listen.....amazing! Dave :)
it gives me immense pleasure... indescribably so... when someones "gets me" - "gets it". For that someone to be you Dave... wow!
You speak about the creative/thought process... I am equally awestruck and amazed at the sounds and feeling - emotion - drama - comedy - tongue-in-cheek-ness you can fit so perfectly into a 20second loop!
i can but only stay in awe of you!
Thanks again for all your contributions to what I do in music.
Ahh...some righteous rockin gear!..great stuff! when something starts rolling you know it has to be rockin as well..playing a solid rhythm is so cool, and it doesn't hurt to have a wailing chopmiester on top of it also!..this has all the elements of a great tune..serious guitar chuggin, high head room and pedal to the metal take no prisoners attitude....more please!..(why more of this music isn't still in the charts has me scratching my head...it's so enjoyable!)...cheers Dave :).
Hey Bill..heard this a few times now and it sounds better every time..super track man!..I gotta say your bass playing is great! a super solid slap groove without going all over the shop(as a lot slap bass players do)and excellent tone to boot!..guitarists always pick up the bass and go 'hey this is easy!' lol..it don't work the other way round though unfortunately....man your tracks keep getting better, the production qualities sweeter and the all round audience approval rating is going through the roof!...your the consummate muso mate....it's a pleasure to hear your material!..cheers Dave :)..ps..that's a bit rude of me not mentioning MrPerez,Larry T and Werewolf..they all funk out big time here and were the icing on the cake!
I can see where your going with this..it's got an almost commercial pop vibe to it,but maybe that's the imagined singing I can hear in my head.....definitely put some vocals over this if you can, then it would be very cool..the start and ending are quirky, but I don't know how many times you can get away with that though...sounds good..cheers planet
I would put some vocals on it if I could sing worth a damn :)
If anyone feels up to it, grabbing any of my tracks and putting vocals to it is appreciated and allowed.
As for the beginnings and endings, well, I'm not 100% happy with it. Basically I use my metronome, count to four (or eight), and dive in. I guess that explains why it can be quirky. I do need to fix that somehow.
Ahhh man this is so cool!..the touch of an Arabian scale really blows this into the Middle Eastern fusion direction..no matter where I am or what time of day it is..after 1/2 a bar I can recognise rei music and if it's a guitar phrase even less..I've been in the radio chat room at mixposure and one of your tracks or a loop you've made suddenly plays and it's always the same fantastic instant recognition...all the notes come out..are they rei notes or notes made by rei?..it doesn't matter they all belong to you....superb work mate!..cheers Dave
Fantastic singing Minette!!!..I really dig this..I've got to say something first then I can get on with telling you how big a talent you are! hehe..the drum frequency(the hi hat or whatever it is)is overpowering and way too distracting.....I know it's annoying getting people picking apart your hard work, but your voice is too good to be sidelined by what after all is meant to be a supporting rhythm........I think when people perform a little part of them is transferred to the audience,a strong performer can sustain this loss and replenish themselves whilst a weaker exponent shrinks under the exposure, when I hear you sing it's like going to the well..the audience is getting sustained by you..a rare gift.
Hey mate...I'm getting the feeling you pulled out the pork pie hat for this one!(Alexander needs one to!) ..I didn't grow up in Blighty so I might be a little presumptuous in my critique here,to me this is a totally British sound (well duh!..lol)..what I mean is the horn phrases and transitions have that 'Ska' factor, the unmistakable punch and delivery only found emanating out from the British Isles..it's got that street and club feel which is a hallmark Brit influence the world over...fantastic tune!..personally I love the Baritone (an instrument I feel you don't pull out enough...I used to love Gerry Mulligan as a kid)....I love the harmonica segment!..here again you keep this baby in your pocket far too often..(Larry Adler is one of my heroes)...it's inclusion to me always has this affect of contemporising the European influences within music and not the Blues which most people associate it with....great to hear your music Steve, every note you play regardless of the instrument always leaves a lasting impression, and one that we learn from..cheers Dave :)
Hi Dave, kind words of support yet again from my Ozzy friend. I'm really enjoying discovering Logic now, it offers a lot of super effects which are easy to manipulate to get the sound you require. I have been a huge Ableton fan / user for a good few years as you know, but the laptop side of the equation has always been the weakest link mainly because of low ram! This Macbook pro is a superb piece of kit!! It works great with Logic and the cpu is never under strain from the plugin usage. I thank you for dropping by and offering your support yet again. I'm off now to find Alexander a suitable pork pie hat lol..
Cheers, Slap...
Hey mate...listening to this makes me wish I had an afro hair style and some loud jacket on and just went around saying things like "Crazy Daddy-O"..or "Groovy Baby" hehe...you've got that signature JFW sound cooking on this little number..super crisp sound with tight progressions..it just all rolls along effortlessly with that guitar swank and swagger when you need it...I think sooner or later someone's going to name a cocktail after one of your tunes..I'll drink to that!..salut' Dave :)
Great!....real fusion with such a tight but totally loose organic groove...I'm feeling the 70's acid period heavily in this one....funkadelic/orchestra with cinnamon icing and herbal tea....super construction man, love the guitar, very abstract and expressive....Bravo! cheers Dave :)
Hey Bert..totally fluid man, some music has it from the get go and this is a prime example...the choice of timbre to the synth sound is brilliant with a superb hollow resonance supported by class "A" rhythms..I think it's this breath like quality that matches so well with the vocals...Ahh yes the singing..what can I say,the concept and imagery come through perfectly with a flawless execution that is only matched by the production values at play here...a pro job if ever I've heard one!...real music for an unreal crazy world..cheers Dave :)
Hey mate...interesting soundscape you've created here,a good uptempo optimistic vibe with plenty of reflective facets...I like the gradual build up and circular modal framework as well...nice one! cheers Dave/planet
Hehe...great intro,I don't know why but I kept expecting some crazy PsychoBilly voice to start...definitely a Halloween pleaser(well to the Yanks anyway, personally I like the spooky type tunes anytime!)......I've never done a remix sounds like fun..I hope you did well in the competition this sounds cool!..cheers mate Dave :)
Hey Damien...I like the minor chords and it's a departure from the norm...I'd have to say that the vocal inclusion is not quite right, using an acapella with a different key signature is problematic and it makes it even more difficult when the original vocal has used autotune...I like the darkish vibe of the music though!..cheers Dave :)
Thanks Dave,
Yes I am still tweaking this one now. I used a lot of gain to get the vocals over everything else and now I have brought back some of the bass, the autotune isnt highlighted as much. I would really like your opinion when I have made some changes, so I will let you know.
Thanks for your honest review

Well I had to come and check it out..Man all the dudes are talking about this track so you must be doing something right! lol...seriously man when you get people talking about your work you can forget about everything else..any publicity is good publicity in this game..you rule dude!..cheers planet :)
Hey BigJo....you know when I say I like this I mean it...this tune has a lot of subtleties, and the slow orchestral like march is a perfect vehicle for your focus..it's quite sublime really...it's also one of the best vocal performances I've heard on this site and that's saying something...another thing that strikes me is the sincerity,it just shines through...you've come to a point where everything is in balance with this track, the music, the message, the man....well done! cheers planet
man that makes me cry to know that you love my song yeah it took me three months to make this one im sdo stoked to hear all this from you man i mean you r truthful so that makes me feel like i can really make a name for my self thanks agaqin
