Very cool intro!...man RnB has changed heaps since I was a kid, definitely not Motown this sounds more Lounge Hip Hop! lol..(I can't categorize half the music I hear these days!)it's a great track, very emotive and substantial vocals..I really like the way the instrumentation and beat winds around her voice giving it space and allowing the song to breathe..excellent production! cheers Planet :)
Def flattered by the shout PJ and gotta agree wit ya, music has changed big time (although i remain humble to the ol skool classics for inspiration).I was thinking out the box with Leila since she has this 'cabaret-esque' type of voice; No overkill on the instru also.As you said, letting the vocals breathe is key and nowadays, many tend to make Autotune their weapon of choice...sadly. So glad you came through my man and you're always welcome; cheers!
Hey man long time no see!..great to see you back and running with a new outfit....I could have been played this blind folded and picked who did it in one micro second! lol..The lyrics are very good as is the singing,I like the way you step back from the heavy riffing and tone it down occassionally..this gives the song really great mood and lets it breathe..I reckon you should maybe multiply and multi track your riffs and expand that whole section so it's a huge wall of dripping metal that slays the listener..like put one central track of the guitar riff..then a right and a left panned one with slight echo or reverb added....cool your back...a lot of dudes have split in your absence and a lot more have arrived..but there is only one Jehobith!!..cheers Dave :)
Long time Planet. Such kind words. I like your reviews, straight forward to the point always good advice and crit. I think panning the guitar left and right is a great idea. what I did was mixed down all the tracks and then took copies of the mix to pan them left and right. I should do this to the guitar parts individually like you mentioned keeping one centered. Sad to hear people have left. I always kept looperman community in the back of my mind cant forget such a great place. Thanx for the advice Planet will put it to good use.
Hey BabySs..welcome to the loop man!..I like what you've got going down here...fresh with a linear approach that's very original in context and delivery..there's an open spaciouness that's held together with that zany(in a good way) melody...different and cool!..cheers Planet..I really like your name by the way!
Damn..the wrath of God again...a Locust plague! LOL....Cool track mate..a different sound for you ..more Trancey..I dig it!..4 synthsizer melodies,I drum track,I percussion track,2 orchestral melodies..in the middle one mad German composer! LOL...Fantastic work man! cheers Dave
Hey Mike..welcome to the Loop!..I like your name..it says it all! lol...Cool sounds across the whole spread....I've heard a lot of Trancy Electronic music over the journey and it can get a little pidgin holed as a genre unfortunately...not here though!! it feels fresh and lively with natural pizazz that only a player brings to the table...great stuff and very cool your here!..cheers Planet :)
Damn!..(said with an amazed inflection)..I could go on for ages about how good this song is....I will! LOL.........it's a true measure of a musician's flexibility and sensitivities when composing, arranging and supporting a vocal lead....and it's with this end in sight that the song must be ultimately judged....The balance and tone..the richness of the harmonic subtleties just float around Claudia's amazing presence...This tune just breathes quality with every note....definitely a 24 carat production..I'll finish up here because i know I'll be coming back to review this track again.......there's top shelf then there's this...cheers Dave :)
Hey Bro...great to hear this gem!...Super cool sound that just rings through with changes and not just in the verses...it's like a cross section of your musical soul...here is a player that has absorbed his influences and learned his instrument to a degree where it speaks to him as he in turn speaks through it.....Damn! I almost sound like a two bit Preacher there with a full belly!lol..I love that 'Strat' sound..the single coil quack so to speak..I agree with Slap..used to be a time big name Bands would camp out to get a crack at a player of your ability.....super! cheers Dave
Cool! saw you on the bottom of the page and wondered if you had another track up yet....YES!......I'm thinking you've written this song on the guitar's riff as a starting point..(which is a great direction),the lead break (guitar) is way cool!...just listening a second time to the added distortion on Alexander's solo....I like it actually,it's a colour rather than an effect..similar to what Frank Zappa used to do with a Wah Wah by just using it as a filter....definitely a great groove fellas!..this album promises to deliver in spades..Funky Spades that is!....cheers Dave
Crazy sh!t man....I thought this was going to swing into some sort of Johnny Wiesmuller Tarzan weirdness..but the jungle is in South Cong USA!..and apparently you have to tell your Granny everything there! lol..I dig that sleaszy beat....very 70's "Faust" ..(an iconoclastic German performance band that I used to get heavily into when tripping on mushrooms!)...Dola I want to see Dr Phil psycho shrinking you on Opra...man I would pay good money to see you freak that dude out!....Great weirdness!..cheers Dave
Definitely a smörgåsbord of vocal talent here!...commenting on a seasoned and professional performer like yourself is very easy, superb presence and pitch..I doubt if there's a single flaw in your musical resume'...looking forward to hearing a whole track.....I think the saying.."you've got it!" is quite appropriate...cheers :)
Nice swing Zman!..if you took out the claps it would be totally blue note territory and those spacey strings add a real 50/60's Hollywood element....It's an out of time groove and I'm not talking about time signatures..it's as if you distiled elements from the boomtime of Jazz(no BeBop though) and put them all into a contemporary reefer haze! hehe..very spacey and cool..cheers Dave
Funnky!..damn man you could sue me for rippin off your song title...I had no idea you'd posted this up before mine! lol....great bottom end driving this super funky groove..really diggin this!..got my head nodding and my feet tappin...tres cool mate....cheers Dave :)
LOL! Not Here!! I just named the song that from the short vocal LOL. Thnaks for listening and glad you enjoyed. Feeling the looping groove. Moe to come Take Care Fila
Cool man!..I won't be dancing (that's probably the main reason why I learn't an instrument so I wouldn't have to embarass myself!lol) mind you if I'd have heard this back in my drinking days....definoitely! nyuk nyuk nyuk!...great live feel, nothing beats a cool organ backing...smooth!..cheers Dave :)
Thanks again for checking me out! Don't know how I got all the Sax parts to pay attention but they seem to have. SIT DOWN YOU KNOW YOU CANT DANCE!! Give me sometin FUNKY!! Fila
Hey Randy...man you wound up the spring on the Country clock with this one!..YeeHar!..Super playing and the spread of the melody throughout the various instruments is great!....It's fantastic that you can pull out an authentic country upbeat groove just like stepping off the curb..good music never goes out of style and in a genre that doesn't get enough exposure around here this totally shines!.....Wether your rockin or flat out flat picking or sliding or finger styling or fiddling down..(phew!)lol....you rule! cheers Dave :)
Thanks so much for the glowing review. I appreciate all your kind words. I love country music and I should do more, but I also like Rock and Blues.....so I try to do an equal amount, but it doesn't usually work.
Making an instrumental to last near 3 min. is tough. So you have to think about putting in other instruments to help out so the song doesn't get boring.
Looks like I did OK with this one. The Lead guitar is played at different points on the neck starting out in each section, to give it a different sound and pattern.
It was fun to do and I'll surely make more.
Thanks again,
Randy
I had to do a double take.....my peripheral vision caught your name....Interesting that, and I'm glad it's turned out to be more than an ephemeral vision....very cool to see you back!...Everyone's music is a small reflection of themselves in some way I guess..this is full of energy, optimism and a fair degree of electronic melancholia......fantastic!! :)
Hopefully I've matured a bit during the off season, and I don't think I'll be running away again anytime soon!
Thanks so much for the review, I shouldn't even have to say that I'm eager to get over to your profile and hear what you've been up to since I've been away.
Man!....ahh bro this is EPIC!...unlike a lot of the younger Looperdudes I know all this stuff!lol..this is GOLDEN!..(a short explanation here for younger readers)...You can't do a proper classic cover justice unless you've totally absorbed the original version, then extrapolated that experience and channeled it through your own musical perception...that's exactly what's happened here,an original rendition that pays homage but breaks new ground.....You are a legend Ron,tips me lid!..cheers Dave :)
Dave,
Thanks bro. Having all my gear in place and operational is a rare thing. I am trying my best to take advantage of the current situation and knock out as many of these songs that I Love and have wanted to take on for decades.
As you noticed I am just recently getting back into the Looperman groove. Putting in enormous amount of time and effort pursuing, acquiring and realizing client production projects to sustain my 21 year old cat and myself here in SoCal. Scooped 3 gigs producing and engineering full length album/CD's. One for a talented guitarist/songwriter. Another for an instrumental fusion 3 piece and last but not least a Samoan Choir. Now THAT should garner some interesting Loop Samples....Nice old church with a tall ceiling and wood everywhere. It's a very lush Location recording adventure...
Anyway, thank you for listening Planet. As always I owe you a dozen reviews. I'll get caught us ASAP.
Always happy to hear from you Dave. Stay Low My Talented Friend.

Holy time trip!...Jeez Ron I thought you were gone touring but you changed to your real name!..I'm going to have to go through all the great work of yours that I've missed..and it is great work, totally authentic and as Frank would say....not a speck of cereal! lol....it's real,it's happening,it's genuine,it's awesome...and it should be,you were there and are still there..fantastic playing!..throb rock at it's finest!..cheers Dave :)
Fantastic track Detlef!..all your music is so so good...part of your brain is a virtual record company founded in the sixties and still going strong!..excellent guitar...love this track!!!..cheers Dave :)
I dig this upbeat groove..it skims along..Man it's been decades since I used to get high, but then I've always had a bent perspective....Yeah I really like this one it's great!..wonder what it sounds like stoned! lol.....cheers Dave
Holy sh#t..I think my sub speaker just got a hard on!....great innovative blend of sounds happening...I reckon you probably found the transition into Dub a natural progression with your circuit bent background, combining a comparatively natural sounding piano riff is a superb foil to the main rhythmical direction and opens the door for other melodious elements to poke their heads above the primordial ooze groove...Dub music will over time break down a glass of Coke-a-Cola to it's natural ingredients!.....cheers Dave :7)
Hah! Yeah, this one has some low end! Yes dub is the natural progression from where I've been. Your review is a welcome refreshement, and I respect your opinions! Thanks much!
Hey Jamie.....Uberesque tone interspersed throughout....with your trademark technical poise always present...I'm beginning to think people from a certain generation are genetically predisposed to creating better music than what's currently on offer..is this a condition bought about by our progenitor's being exposed to early playboy magazines and pipe smoke or is it the effect of backward subliminal messages widely broadcast in the sixties?..who the fuc# knows, pseudo science sure doesn't!...but your music is still fantastic even if this is the case! lol..cheers Dave
Just checking to see the continuity within your style..haha and I'm not dissapointed!!!....this is a superb acoustic motif, airy with that bell like quality that sets this genre in a place by itself....rather an abrupt ending but I guess I was floating along with the tune! lol...love the music I'm hearing from you..tres cool!...cheers Planet
Hey man..that's a righteous sound for sure..pretty easy to tell you've been round the musical block a few times, nothing beats a cool groove from a real believer I always say...tight,punchy and dripping with authenticity, all the street cred boxes are ticked..great stuff!...cheers Planet
I like the fretboard sweaking reality going on here...I hate drawing comparison's but that's what music does sometimes..this is so a punked out vibe of 'Chariots of Fire' by Vangelis! lol...seriously it's a very cool groove man..but is it Hip Hop? or some cross gender hybrid verging on rock. lol(I've become an expert closet homie! bwahahahaha)...cheers Dave
Know what Dave? I'm going to change it to Rock genre. Guess I always go hip hip by default. Plus the drum loop I used is a hip hop, but you're right it's a hybrid. Thanks for coming through!
