on Womans Touch ft Slap Johnson and Mack Sanders by Bilbozo
I think Mack is the love child of Perry Como..the guy's freaking too good, too smooth!..it ain't natural...That guitar guy Bill obviously is a body snatcher who up until recently was masquerading as Les Paul amongst others...SlapJohnson was created in a test tube somewhere in Harlem in 1969 in an experiment to recreate Charley Parker, something weird happened though and somehow the specimen fell into a mail chute and ended up in Yorkshire.......fact or fiction?..we will never know, the only thing we can be sure about is the music...unlike it's freakishly talented orchestrator's this is no chance hybrid strain,it's the real deal....ambrosia! cheers dudes :)

Wow Detlef.....a huge sound!..I wish I had a full surround sound system to fully appreciate this...you definitely don't do things in half measures..the balance and quality of the sound timbre is outstanding..it's very contemporary yet steeped in traditional orchestral sensitivities...this would be so cool to play live,a real musical happening......you are on the tight rope of creativity, yet there is no chance of you falling off and you work without a safety net!...quite sublime..I think this will definitely influence me...cheers Dave

on Dont weight discriminate ft Dolawhite by nepaul
Hehe..I dig this..funky and funny with a great groove...people think I'm down on Hip Hop,that ain't the case at all..I just like good ish that's all...and this definitely qualifies..another thing worth noting is you guys are really picking up speed, you've got a great balance happening between your vocals...as has been muttered in the 70's..it's a happenin thang...cheers dudes

on South Carolinas Finest aka The Smackdown by dolawhite
"In the red corner..the cursing cool dude, the man with a fiscal feeling, the foldin with the golden, the currency with the light Complexion...DOLAWHHHHHHHITE!".... amongst associated catcalls and raucous dwindling applause we segue into the track........Sounds sharp man, especially when you arc into the main groove..and yeah probably being white doesn't help a rapper, however that's not my call..the only thing I might include is some heavy orchestral stabs occasionally just to bump the vocals along..but you carry the tune all the way through like stepping off the curb....cool! cheers planet

i tried to add some extra vocal ish to move it along but mixcraft left me high and dry when it turned retarded and staggered my stuff off point. ie: you missed an awesome whistling solo for verse 2. but oh wells. i do appreciate the feedback brotherman

One of my favourite Dali pieces by the same name......gently expressive with a great chromatic quality..this sort of musical style works very well with stop action photography, that's the visual imagery I'm getting..another changing season's piece as in the case of memory....great listening pleasure!..cheers Dave :)

on Blue Bossa Saxobones Quintet live recording by SLAPJOHNSON
Yeah!...I'm a sucker for any Bossa..who wouldn't be..it's the music of Love..well shagging anyway! lol..the day I get sick of this type of groove is the day to cash in me chips......Probably one of most authoritative sax lines I've heard in ages..it's cool,it's lively..but it's a ball buster and means business.....Ed the keyboard player is in the slot big time...you own this tune guys!..superb! cheers Dave

on So What Saxobones Quintet live recording by SLAPJOHNSON
One of my favourites,So What!..such a smooth groove and rich sound guys...Saxophone tone records so well(your tone that is the Bone tone!)..it just mainlines into the digital interface...it freaks me out to think of the sound that a top recording engineer could do with you..back to the track..I love to home in on the players your using..today it's the drummer Luke..being a bass player,I can understand how intrinsic his job is..to the average listener he may appear to be just cruising a long..but there's a huge amount of nuance and control going on....it's insane that these tunes are first take wonders...fellas your going to get mighty popular on the club circuit if your not careful!...cheers Dave...ps, props to John W..for changing to a Fender Jazz! ;)

on Devils Tale by untilspirit
This one's quite dark and moody..I like the visual audio setting..sounds like a good platform for some vocals as well..it's got an almost 'New Wave' aspect to it..I think it's the drums they have that UK wave sound..where as if you'd used a bigger sounding rhythm kit it would be way more metal orientated...nice work..cheers planet

on Eve of the Intrepid by untilspirit
Hey man..nice one! Big juicy shimmering chords and a deft touch that shows you've been around the block a few times...It always amazes me how the term 'retro' elicits a negative response from some people because it harkens back to another time(when people could actually play! lol)..well I say bring it on!..a proven big sound pastiche that is still popular with music lovers the world over..cool stuff!.. cheers planet :)

on things that make a difference by mamamazi
Hey Mazi cool balance you've achieved between the vocal and instrumental elements..It's R&B but not the stuff I grew up with..whatever happened to MoTown and real Rhythm and Blues...this is more like a laid back lounge groove..don't take this as a criticism your voice and style is superb and sounds very professional..I just miss the old time bounce and thump that R&B used to have! lol..great track apart from my distracting musings........cheers planet :)

Hello there Planet (Dave)
Thanks a lot for reviewing this tune. Vicen wanted to add vocals to it, so he did well.
I don't understand Spanish at all myself, but it sounds cool. Hope you are doing well. Myself...still working a lot of hours. 68 hours this week so far....so not as much time to make music now.
Later...and thanks again for the review. I'll have to get to your page and see what's new!.

on We No Speak Americano (Traxnctrl remix) by TraXnCtrl
Hey Damien..excellent job my friend!..really catchy vocal manipulation, the intro was insane, just goes to show the voice really is an instrument.....this really is very good! I love the quasi old time feel in snatches and then it just goes off!...Latino House music for the 21st century!..I'm sure all the Americanos will love it..this Aussie gringo does!..big time!..cheers Dave :)

I was unsure if I kept that intro going a bit too long, but decided to leave it anyway....thanks for listening and reviewing. The original is very catchy and it was a blast to mess with!

Hell man this is making my guts wobble!lol..hey CyberT this is right off the scale..I've heard a bit of wobble bass before but nothing as insane as this..it's pure filth!..a very inventive and dynamic track I must say..and it was a really fun ride!...I think this may explain it's popularity,it's not easy getting that quality and you can't turn it on and off all the time....an excellent track and I surely will be back to hear some more!..cheers planet :)

Sometimes the forethought of a track,at it's very inception, before a single note is played.....that timeless phase within the artist's mind where decisions are moving at light speed, luminosity and shadows flicker in the ephemeral process of creativity..this is when one element, one feeling holds sway.....Love.
Beautiful and fragile..only a parent could make this music.

on L and L by MCHN
I really like slow tempo numbers for a few reasons...their difficult to get right and when they do it's usually with a slow drip impact that in the end has you totally submerged within the sound..this track is no exception, dark, slightly foreboding a chilled journey into uncharted territory.....excellent vibe and way chill!..cheers planet :)
MCHN
MCHN replied Unknown
Very late reply sorry. Thanks for the review first hehe. I agree totally with the difficulty of slower material. Most the new stuff I have tinkered with is 70 to 55 bpm, and its a little hectic. Trying to keep someone locked in and get themselves immersed is a bit hard in the slow range. Worth every second of effort though. Thanks for the review again and sorry for the l8 reply. Cheers :D

Hehe..I just read it was a Koto!..irrespective of that it suits perfectly, again superb piece. :)

MCHN replied Unknown
Haha, yea that koto has a great sound for being hyper sampled. It comes from the Kontakt Super Asia or Secret Asia sound set. Bit of time to take it and put it into Reason, but worth the effort I guess. Hopefully one day I may come across a real koto at a decent price. Till then vst's and sound sets will do lol. Cheers and thanks again for the review :D

Aaah..this is excellent ..getting that close to the bridge hard playing sound on the acoustic guitar to match the opening SciFi effects was brilliant...a seamless transition into the synth pads and viola we have lift off..At the moment I'm following a superb series "Voyage to the Planets" on television ,so this track comes as a very poignant backdrop for those images....an epic sound scape you've portrayed, but with the humanness that makes it all that more breathtaking and fragile...fantastic work! cheers planet :)

on Hybridity - a Subversive Dance by n0mad23
Great sound Sean!...It's interesting to note that "subversive" can only be perceived from a perceived position of morality,no doubt the missionary cadres of contemporary music will shake their heads in disbelief at this tune.......I can't escape the immediate Cajun like quality that the swirling accordion brings to this piece and nearly meta-morphs into a Hurdy Gurdy like phrase or what sounds like an amplified Clay stomach drum which powers the rhythm section..it's also interesting to note how well the vocals float on this groove(more about that later)...I'm always delighted to listen to the obvious and subtle nuances that your geographical youth has impressed upon you..it's like these experiences have gestated and are finally ruminated here in splendid examples of international musical cooperation......it's just plain funky to!....excellent work!..I need to get a real set of tablas(but am aware of how long it would take to master them,if ever)!..cheers Dave :)
n0mad23
n0mad23 replied Unknown
You called the subversive nod spot on. I can't help but imagine lots of people shaking their head at this one. Hopefully I can be like that Zen teacher who occasionally smacks someone up alongside the head with a bamboo cane. For me personally, there are moments of unbridled sonic ecstasy that are truly amazing. I hadn't identified that hurdy gurdy phrase, but again you've called it - it does sound very reminiscent, doesn't it? I'm glad you find it funky, as I think it would fail without it. Thanks my friend.
