Excellent Richie. The best Blues I have heard yet on the Loop. We all know PE's vocals are quality but what you have done is a work of musical genius my friend. I stand in awe of a musical talent. Downloaded to enjoy again & again.
Thanks for the comments and for taking the time to stop by and listen. Much appreciated. Patricia is such an immense talent and I hope I've done some justice to her vocal on this one.
Thanks for the comments - much appreciated. Endings are always a challenge and I hope this one engages the listener right to the last note. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you so much for listening and writing really nice comments. Much appreciated. Yes, I have had, and continue to have, a great musical journey and hope in some small way it inspires others.
this right here, gold. the six string work is incredible, drips with soul. i bet you had fun on that solo. and muzic's voice is wonderful. just a really superb track. im standin and applaudin too.
Thanks for the kind words and particularly the six string work. There are three parts on this track. An open tuned (dropped D) in the background and an electric rhythm track putting in some percussive stuff. Then the solo and yes, it was great fun to do. I always enjoy the challenge of trying to sound like I've never played the same notes before! Patricia's voice is just amazing - she is such an immense talent. Glad you enjoyed the collaboration and thanks again for stopping by to listen and comment. Much appreciated.
Another smooth and wild good vibes! The surprisers strike again with real amazing music!!! I got to give props to you Richie, your music satisfies the ears which compliments the mind for peace and relaxation. You and Patricia are both really talented and produce simply great sounds. Great work to you guys, I'm hooked for some more.. Thanks for the musical show. It was really cool! Enjoyed the listen and grabbed me a copy of this one too. Great music Richie. Have a good1 & be safe. Peace
Thanks again for taking the time to listen. Again, Patricia is such a wonderful talent to work with and I'm very lucky to have the opportunity to collaborate with her. I guess my approach is to try to make is sound like a bunch of real musicians playing live behind the amazing singing. I always visualize a live concert. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the kind words.
Hello Richie, Very smooth work on the music man. You backed Patricia well on this one. A perfect collaboration has been done here! Really enjoyed the listen. You have a very good feel for the music. I haven't really listened much to your work but now I'm wanting more. Thank you for sharing your sounds with us all. Grabbed me a copy cause I can't get this one out of my head. I really like that guitar!!! Keep up the great music Richie.
Thanks for stopping by and listening - it's much appreciated. I try to compliment the vocals as best I can (Patricia is such a talent) and on this occasion I'm really pleased with the feel of the track. It's a bit like me, old fashioned and laid back!! Glad you liked the guitar - at one point I thought is was a bit "naf" but again it's worked out OK.
Thanks again and I'll be checking out your music very soon.
I'M ALL EARS POTNAH. THIS IS 4 ALL UR TRACKS. WWWOOWWW. MAN U GOT SOME STUFF . THAT SCAT THING ON 1ST SONG IS HOT. CHECKING THROUGH ALL UR STUFF 2 GET SOME INSPIRATION. THANKS 4 BEING HERE. PEACE.
Thank you so much for the comments. I have listened with much appreciation to all your tracks too. You have a great smooth style and very classy productions. I will be watching out for more of your music. Thank you for sharing.
Yeehh!
This is definitely retro-disco vibe!
I love the well-syncoped synth solo, and the clavinet pump is just grooving to death!
I don't know how you manage to make those horns sound like this...
My turn to congrat you!
Thanks for the comments - really appreciated it. Glad you liked the retro fell and the synth solo (played on my guitar through a Roland GR 55 guitar synth).
Now...this has to be the way that acapella was meant to produce a song...great piece of work Richie....hell...its a fantastic piece of work...you got a fan here my man....Ed
Good to hear from you again and thank you so much for the comments. Much appreciated. I downloaded the acapella quite a while ago and tried to organise a track with it without success. I exchanged emails with Patricia who suggested the timing might be "a bit suspect" so I ended up cutting up all the phrases and placing them around a traditional twelve bar blues. I am pleased the way it turned out.
Glad you liked it and thanks again for taking the time to listen and comment.
Sorry for the delay replying to your very kind words. So pleased you liked the track and I love the "shiny mix" comment. Yup, I try to polish it and make it sparkle!
Thanks very much for the comments. I really appreciate it. Amelia June's vocal is just so good I felt I had to put something together using it. Glad you liked the production and your comment "very precise" is indeed a great compliment. I do try hard to get it right and spend ages deliberating over a single note and if it's in the right place or not!
The guitar patches are mostly those within Logic although my Roland GR55 has some good sounds in too. f$*'%ing good I'll take any day - thank you.
Thank you so much for stopping by and listening to the track. I'm so very pleased you liked the track and my interpretation of the blues. Patricia is an enormous talent and I always find it rewarding when collaborating with her.
Hey Richie....Man I can listen to this and see a lot of music has passed under your musical bridge....it's a great if not perfect backdrop for the acapella,no overplaying or domineering attitude, just a superb foil...it's seamless!...Now I'm hardly going to finish up this review without taking an opportunity to gush over Pat's vocal skill(z)! haha....I sometimes wonder how aware the general Looper public is of having a talent like Patricia around...amid all the flotsam and jetsam in the world, some tide of fortune has seemingly deposited her here(or until she's famous)....Fantastic music and totally the genuine article! cheers Dave
It's such a lovely analogy "a lot of music has passed under your musical bridge". I think it's a very kind way of saying something else!! He he! It has, and continues to be, an interesting and enjoyable voyage.
I agree completely with your comments regarding Patricia. Such an immense talent and a real privilege collaborating with her. We are all so very lucky. Glad you liked the track and thank you for the comments particularly the "no overplaying" observation. I always try to work on the "less is more" principle.
Hello Richie ....
You have here made ??the choice that wonderful voice of Patricia, and you have able surrounded it, by a cocoon of great musical quality. Yes! this choice is pertinant, and he was made to meet your gift of blues musician here .... Respect for what job, and share this pleasant moment ....
I always have a special place in my soul for your comments. Thank you so much for stopping by and listening - I appreciate it. Yes, Patricia is a wonderful talent to work with and I am so pleased with the finished track and with your very kind words. Much appreciated.
Richie, I've been listening to the blues for a long, long time and I have to tell you, this is just about as good as it gets. Patricia is amazing, but even more impressive...is that your instrumentation matches her brilliance.
This is fabulous.
Not many words to describe how good this is, so I'll just stand up and applaud.
Always good to hear from you. Thank you so much for the comments and I take it as a great compliment that you compare my instrumentation with Patricia's vocals so positively. I am humbled. Thank you.
I had a lot of trouble trying to get the tempo and the vocal organised on this track and after exchanging emails with Patricia (who suggested I might have some timing issues with it) I decided to chop up the phrases and assemble them around a twelve bar blues framework. I am pleased with the way it's turned out.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks again for the kind words.
I've uploaded 2 blues vocals and NEITHER was given a TRUE blues feel. Idunno about anyone else, but this is absolutely what I have in mind when I think blues.
Yeeeeaaaaa playboy make it do what it do... you know you funky right? Wow man I love this track, going in collection of all time favorite blues hits. big fan keep em coming.
I haven`t caught up with all of your tracks yet Richie, but every time I hit play on another one I am totally taken in by the talent....like this one for example...Beautiful vocal for certain, but being an old guitar guy (whose listening skills have expanded over the years I think) I pay a lot of attention to the instruments, composition etc...I would run over the word limit to try & describe everything I like about this one...so let me just say a very well done to both of you...This one goes on my MP3 player...beautiful work....Ed (P.S:.I don`t own a Godin (yet) but they are one very high quality instrument that don`t get near as much attention as they should...I have played a few in the music store & love the feel of the slightly flatter neck radius...you`ve got your XTsa sounding extra sweet)
I'm glad you liked the "guitar only" approach to the track. I just felt like getting back to a basic three guitars and drums live feel was appropriate. Thanks for your very kind comments - much appreciated.
The Godin XTSA is a lovely guitar in many respects. It's beautifully made from high quality materials (never had a guitar with an ebony fretboard before - really nice) and has three distinctive playing opportunities. Normal electric (two humbuckers and a single coil), acoustic (using the built in transducers) and MIDI using the Roland GR55 compatible connection. So versatile. Anyway, I could go on and on (and on) about guitars so I'll stop right now.
Thanks again and always a great pleasure to have you visit and comment.
Rhythmic and engaging song. Great work and excellent results. I love the song and that is really important. Great guitar and great voice. A super cool song.
Thank you so much for stopping by, listening and posting a comment. I really appreciate it. Great review - I so pleased you like the track. The vocal is really strong, he is such a talent. The guitar? Well, I just love playing and it is very rewarding when comments like yours are posted.
If I write here that once again I am excited about this track, you believe me?
Really your work, is to perfection here. Adaptation very professional, very year "Beach Boys". I like particularly .... I'm really in another dimension.
Of course I believe you! You are excited about my track - that's great. Perfection? You are very kind - thank you. It is so very nice of you to take the time to listen and post your comments. J'apprécie les commentaires de quelqu'un que je pense est un talent spécial.
Right on Richie....super piece of work & just goes to prove that it can still sound great and as modern as ever...very tight playing & like that snappy beat...goes to the top on my chart.....Ed
Thanks very much for the comments and I thought you would like the guitar only approach. It's such a great vocal too and I immediately thought American bubble bum sort of sound. It's turned out a bit meatier but I'm happy with the results.
