Man this is a sweet rocking tune. It has a great flow and feel. You have captured that POP essence. Catchy vocals and lyrics. Yea! I Remember when Lead - Rhythm - Bass - Drums = A Band LOL Nice job Enjoyed!! Fila
Thanks for stopping by and listening and your comments are very much appreciated. Yes, I wanted exactly that lead, rhythm, bass and drums feel on the track (well, it's a classic live band setup and one you don't hear too much of today) so thanks for picking up on that. It's a great vocal and I just hope I've done it justice and I'm pleased you enjoyed it.
Hey dude love this track sounds very polished. i really struggle to get guitar sounding good no matter how i record or what one of my guitars i use it always sounds really boxxy and poo, but youve hit the nail on the head with this. loved it.
Only thing i would do (well if your askin which your probly not, lol)
it the drums could maybe benefit from some more compression for consistency of volume and maybe layered up with sub sine or a tuned sub kick. most bands do this nowerdays.
Thanks for the comments Spudsy and the advice on the drums - appreciate it. I tend to work on the principle "less is more" so never over compress, over EQ or over effect anything. The track is unmastered too so I still have some work to do. Maybe I could send you the finished mastered track in a few weeks for your comments? I always welcome some constructive comment. Not sure about a "sub sine" or a "tuned sub kick"? First thing is I'll find out what that means and see if it's appropriate to apply. See, I'm still learning!
My guitar sound here - I'd like to say I spent hours getting it right. I didn't!! I use my Godin Xtsa through my Onyx 820i mixer and firewire straight into the iMac. Logic Pro has lots of guitar patches which I tend to simply go through one by one until I find one I like! No rocket science here just good old fashioned luck!! Glad you like it.
Thanks again for stopping by, listening and commenting.
Hey Richie, great work man!..this sounds super fresh and right in the sweet spot..if the Ramones had practiced a little more they might have sounded like this!(or at least aspired to sound like this)...as you say the vocals are superb, full of confidence, optimism and polish...Pop music is probably one of the hardest genres to crack (I have absolutely no clue where to even start)and to get a tune up and running that sounds this good is testament to your talent,I also love the no synth all guitars angle...man I hope some station picks this up,it deserves it!...cheers Dave
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to listen and comment. Always appreciate it. I thought the "all guitar" approach was a good idea and thank you so much for even mentioning Ramones in the same sentence as my sound on this track. It is a great compliment - thank you.
Those opening guitar lines grabbed my attention right away Richie (sounds a bit like Strat neck pickup?)..This is one of the best songs I have listened to in a long tome (no kidding)..rich emotional lyrics...perfect vocal delivery..and the accompaniment is about as good as it gets....This is pro stuff you two...exceptionally well done....Ed
It's the neck pickup alright but on my Godin xtsa! Glad you liked the sound and thank you so much for the comments. MIM4E is such an immense talent and putting tracks together with her wonderful acapellas is a pleasure. This was fun to do. Thanks again.
Waouuuu! Fantastic.
It's really a great job, that you have produced here. A perfect agreement between both great, yes! great talents. What a pleasant surprise, for my woke up this morning!
You are an accomplished musician .... I'm fan.
But where is that damn " Favorites" button .... Grrrrr!
Thanks for taking the time to stop by, listen and comment - it is really appreciated. I'm glad it was a pleasant surprise this morning - that makes me feel very good. Fantastic comments - thank you.
Richie, I have to agree with L....this is spot on and definitely radio ready. This is as good as anything I've heard on the radio in a long, long time. A perfect blend of talent, MIM4E on vox and you on the instruments. Beautiful work and a tip of the hat for a wonderful effort.
Wow, I do wish I had a favorite button for sure :)
Always good to have you visit and thank you so much for your kind words. It is such a pleasure working with MIM4E and a real adventure developing a track from her incredible acapellas - she is such a talent. Appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to listen and comment - much appreciated.
Hey Richie...I truly enjoyed listening to this track. Thanks for sharing it! It's sooo smooth you'd never know the vocals came before the instrumentation...perfectly in time. To my ear if it's pretty damn near radio-ready.
Thank you so much for your comments and for taking the time to stop by and listen. It's a great compliment to have you say it sounds so good. Much appreciated.
wow....great job on this one Richie...and as you say the vocals have the power (excellent lyrics & delivery)..like the sound you are getting from your acoustic too...that is something I just have`nt been able to get right in spite of having a couple of decent mics & lots of direct-in options...I`m using a 1990 Tak (341c) that has been played a lot ...sounds decent di`d through a sound system or acoustic amp, but is just real uneven when I`m looking for a natural mic`d sound...anyway...I`m going on a bit....Everything in this one fits like a glove around the vocals ..just as it should when done by a pro....super piece of work....Ed
Thanks very much for the comments and taking the time to listen. Appreciated. My acoustic on this is my Ovation Celebrity direct in to the desk and with just a little compression. It has active EQ and I always make sure the little 9v battery is new before recording - it makes a difference.
Derek Vickers has an amazing voice and great lyrics. It was a lot of fun putting this track together. Glad you enjoyed it.
Beautiful! Very chill and warm, your music compliments that beautiful pella awesomely well. It flows so well and blends so seamlessly, I'm amazed! Great work.
You are so kind, thank you for the comments. Glad you liked the track and my interpretation of it. I had fun putting it together and always enjoy the challenge of a guitar solo (and trying to make it sound like something I haven't already played before - always difficult). Thanks again P.
Thanks for taking the time to listen and post comments. Much appreciated. Glad you liked the track - the acapella was so interesting I felt drawn to it. Had fun putting the track together and so pleased it has been received so well.
Thanks for the great comments - I really appreciate them. It was such a great acapella I felt I had to put a track together using it. What fun. Glad you enjoyed it.
Richie, what a wonderful treatment of Amelia June's vox. I love everything about this, from the guitar solo, to the mix, to the pacing (wow, just brilliant) to the beautiful chord progressions. I've heard just about every interpretation of her pella, but this one ranks right up there at the top.
Superb in every aspect, and in every way possible.
Bravo my friend. And a huge thanks for the download, straight to my all time favorites.
Good to hear from you. Thanks for the comments, particularly about the "pacing". I wanted it to be a bit "sleepy" but with plenty of interest to keep the listener engaged. I had lots of fun puting this together and thanks for the link on your track to the acapella on Mixter.
Richie - this setting is so from the heart of the matter Amelia is singing - your empathy and playing is of the finest and moving kind. total respect and thanks for your music.
So grateful for you kind words - many thanks. It's a fantastic acapella and I couldn't resist putting a track together using it. What a journey it was too! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks again.
As wrote some time ago Bear, It's an a capella which was incorporated a multitude of times (also by me for that matter). Here, it is an aditional a very good sound quality.
Fantastic moment .... Fantastic guitar too ....
I've listened with much interest to your tracks - you really have soul and a super feel for production. Thanks for your comments - much appreciated, it means a lot to me. Yes, I think we similar view of how music can sound.
Wow, this is amazing:)Love all of it, Music is Great, Voices are Great, production is Great! Big shout out to MuzicIzMee4Ever,
This is one of the best Collabs i heared! Great job and Thnx for share it Richie!
Incredible track man. Love the bassline as always and those strings are absolutely fab! You're some talent. For a Springbok to compliment a Wallaby like this takes allot but ultimately shows your immense talent :)
Absolutely incredible track, those wah guitars are insane. Infectious bassline, awesome vocalsl and the keys, well everything is perfect about this track. Love how how you changed the beat. Love it Richie! Love the George Benson esque sound you ave going on. Was that you on vocals halfway though the track? If so, you should definitely be doing more of this sort of stuff! One of the finest tracks Ive heard on the loop. I'm in awe!
Many thanks for the comments - really appreciate them. No, it's not me on vocals (I'm not much of a singer) but on the solo I use a patch from my guitar synth called "scat". MusicIzMee4Ever is the star vocalist on the track - she is such an immense talent. Glad you liked this track and hope you enjoy listening to it many times.
Always really good to hear from you and thanks for the comments. Sometimes thinks happen without you noticing and the ending came about when I had left the strings running over by a couple of bars quite by accident. I snipped a bit of the "scream" from the intro and that was that. It's supposed to represent his "angst" at being his own worst enemy!! A bit of fun too!
