Hi. Lots of good stuff here though quite a few problems too so hope you don't mind if I point them out.
Intro piano has quite a bit of noise on it. Not sure why that is. Maybe there's a synth underneath. If so, the main thing audible is the noise.
0:15-0:16 there's an awkward jump.
This is quite cinematic stuff. Sure, bit of an r'n'b beat and drum sound but I'd say it's quite cinematic otherwise.
Bass is very effective when it comes in. Very solid tone.
1:38 and the track iss getting deeper with that new synth wind instrument.
I've said it before so sort of feel slightly bad for saying it again but quite a few of your synth sounds really let the track down.
I'm sure this is just because you're working with all you've got. But your stuff would sound much better with better string/wind instrument samples.
I guess this means spending some money and I also suppose you're only young and are still very much learning and are only going to get better.
I say these things as hopefully helpful advice rather than just talking about what was good, which might leave you thinking these sounds are good enough when I don't think they are. That's not your fault and I assure you I used to use worse sounds. Until I got better ones and then went back and replaced those inferior sounds.
Hope that makes sense as I feel your compositional abilities would be better represented with better tools (sounds).
As always, I appreciate your wisdom and your critiquing. I will have the final project posted soon. Perhaps that'll be much better than this version here. Thanks!
Great start and build, this is a really good base for what could be a great track, the drum is a bit too loud but can be easily sorted. As Danke says a vocals would make this an absolute winner.
Best wishes,
Mark/Larry!
It could be a super song...hope, you plan vocs on it, as I hear about the building of the song...already, there are places for vocs...female voice maybe?
In this demo version there is a bit oveergaining (maybe the kick) in my headphones...
Best, Danke
I will absolutely keep that in mind, my friend! I appreciate your recommendations. Also, I shall fix the kick, for it does seem overbearing now that you mention it.
There is here yet your originality, your musical personality, no doubt .... Sorry for the delay, but sometimes harsh reality forces us ....
The concept is very nice and the piano part very successful, also the solo of jazz guitar. I especially love the harmony used .....
Thank you dearly, for the comment. It was absolutely a huge step from my previous Jazz track and this one. I am glad to see that you enjoyed this. Cheers!
This is a very pleasant listen my friend! Listening to what you're capable of, I feel honored that you would listen to my new stuff. I used to listen to much jazz, so this is nice to hear for me. This is a very intelligent composition, and I'm glad I listened!
Much appreciated! Jazz is becoming ignored for those of my generation. I'm just glad I'm one of the few who still appreciates and works with Jazz. Thanks for the comment!
For some reason the opening piano counterpoint reminded me so much of Ultravox (Midge Ure era). The jazz guitar work smoothens (New word) out the song. Nice work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpkasPwAtrQ&html5=1

Well produced and arranged song.Part-dreamy and part-nostalgic.I can feel the melodies and the interaction between the different instrumentation you used. There are some fantstic call-and-response moments on the track.
Was a great fun and 'work', I listened Scott's track than yours...I like jazz, but...:-)
Anyway, this is so progressive, in the good meaning of those words...like the use of the piano and the synths at the first part, than the guitar is the most jazzy for me in the track...
great work...
Thanx for the upload
Best, Danke
Oh yes, my friend. I like this a lot. Big fan of progressive anything, just so long as it is in a state of constant flux. This is a very impressive translation, and seems like the instruments are writing a song, and the guitar hops off the stand and lays the smack down, shows them how it's done. The guitar sounds like keyboard though. No matter. The writing here is just great! You are now one I will be watching,..... not in a creepy way though. Loved it.
Haha. That's alright to be watched. I'm into that....joking. Anyhow, I'm glad you checked out this track. It was very thought out and fun to do. I believe the last half, which is the Jazz guitar to the end is my favorite. And yes, it was done with a keyboard. It was my first attempt at using FL studio along with my keyboard along. I'm very pleased to see that you, a friendly and awesome listener, thought it was great. Perhaps I shall make a better version of this soon. Thank you, Evan!
a considered pianO line , and thoughtfull continue .
nothing is loop in iT as I listen & U've desingned for all seconds and moments in iT . track is completed now , buT maybe another line ,like Cello or Violin or Flute too can be addded althoughT a vocal line can be better than them.buT the same what I'm hearing to is very good.infact, ideabehind it,and the way that composer has thought is so adorable.best wishes.___Behnam
I am very grateful for your comment. And I'll take adding more instruments into consideration. I'll probably do that sometime soon. Thank you for your time and comment once again. :)
Interesting take on hip hop! I like the set of instruments you used and how you mixed them! I think the drums are pretty awesome, don't know if you were still planning on removing them. Nice song though!
Hey man! I apologize for the late reply. I decided not to post the same song, just without the rythymic section. I made it, however. I appreciate the comment!
I very much like the movement into the piano (before the break). You had a way of sneaking in a build - I didn't even realize how high we were. ;) fantastic. really lives up to it's name.
Very nice track! Whether it follows the theme or not I really like it! I think it would've been great for a movie like "Halloween" so I guess you nailed it! good sounding mix, and the arrangement is nice too! Good work!
Good song.
I like your choice of sounds and melodies, interesting combination of "joyful" parts with some darker tones (eg. the glockenspiel mixed with the darker strings and the "hip-hop" drums)
The melodies bring me back to the early 80s: they could have been used in a soundtrack for a Dario Argento movie (definitely In Topic!)
On the mix side, very good job. To my taste, only the hi-hat sounds a bit "apart" from the rest of the drumkit.
That said, thanks for the good time your song gave me (I have already listened it twice!)
Ciao, Domenico
No, I wouldn't say it's a failure if it sounds a little like a Christmas theme. You probably just need to make it a bit darker, a bit more discordant - a bit scarier. Either musically, through your choice of notes and chords or sonically through your choice of sounds (get more evil stuff in there).
Or do both of these things.
I don't make evil/discordant/terrifying music but I imagine it's not that hard to get that effect. Much harder to make something enjoyable and melodic.
This track falls much more on the melodic and enjoyable side but you can make it darker if that's the way you want to go.
Cool track mate! Very catchy and interesting melody. Track feels a bit empty at the break though. For me it certainly has a creepy feeling and sounds mesh well. Good job! :)
