Description : I started this track last week. I used a sax solo by SlapJohnson and a great chord progression from thehandthatrocksthedeck for the ending. It has a bit of a retro sound like The Psychedelic Furs meats Phil Collins other loops I made with Demension LE in Sonar plus played real Guitars and Bass. The Drum Tracks are Simon Phillips from www.sessionloops.com Vocals by ME.

Got my vote for the category - what else to say? I'm listening to this 12 miles east of Aberdeen and it feels like indigenous music to me!

My vote for the rock genre in the all genre competition.OK Martin you know how much I like this track because its a complete package, I've already reviewed it but I'm back to give you my vote for the rock track in the all genre competition because of that there are a lot of great tracks in this category (including mine, lol) but yours has everything a true rock track should have including great lyrics and vocal performance. Your fan BigPete and good luck but you're already a winner.

Hi Sob, thanks for the mail about this track. I like the song! I have always been a fan of songwriters/musicians (Real instruments) if you get my drift. So this ticks all of the boxes. Sweet playing/arrangement and clear production helps the vocals sit just right... 10/10...

Cheers Slap...

Thanks for the kind review. Your sax loop fits this sound perfectly. I can't wait to use more of your loops. I am doing a track now that has your harmonica loops with a Stones feel. I will let you know when it is done.

Thanks again,

Martin

Hi there Martin,

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my rock tune....so I wanted to return the favor and check your tunes out as well.
I like the guitar sounds in this one as they are nice and clear.

Of course your vocals are very good as well. Has a slight rough edge to them, but I suppose it depends on the song your doing.
Anyways, a very nice job on this song and hope you'll make many mor.

this is a great track. you know who it reminds me of? dave matthews band. great composition. the drums are simple and dont overpower anything. i lot of feeling went into this i can tell. if only everyone put their heart and soul into their music as you seem to in this tune. i dont really have anything negative or constructive to say as you seem to have this down. keep it up! =]

Thank you so much, I like Dave Mathews so thanks for the comparison. I think I sang the song in about 6 or 7 takes and settled on this one, I also had a version with a double track that was okay. Thank you again for your kind review.

This song really has a lot of power, and your vocals really seal the deal! The song kinda makes me sad, and from your lyrics, it seems like this was intentional. I really like the orchestration and arrangement on this track. You have much talent! Keep it up!

Hey, Thanks.
I would love to try and do some stuff together. I do think your voice shined on your acoustic track. But if you want to collaborate I would be honored.

Talk to you later,

YESSS A NEW TRACK, first thanks for the review on The Traveller, coming from my favorite singer songwriter performer right now, first again please be don't be offended but this sounds a lot like the band Live and again thats good for me because again this is a band I respect a lot met them twice and they are genuine people, and your vocal performance again steels the show, your delivery is gut wrenching, the lyrics are pure poetry again, I don't know what they put in the water in Seatle but people their are great poets , from Hendrix to Cobain and even the ones who are still alive, lol, you don't have to die young to be a artistic genius and I get that vibe from what you do, I am a true fan and I wish you had some record deal or distribution deal because someone like you deserve to be out there. I truly mean this, to much crap gets tossed around by labels when they should be putting efforts in artist like you who has something to say knows how to package it in very accesible form, your tracks have a very pop sensetivity to them, girls will like your music because of that, and I know what girls like, lol. Anyway your a great artist, thanks for the second track now waiting for the third, lol.

Man...Its hard to know what to say to a review like this. I am honored that you feel so strongly about my tracks. I have been doing stuff for years with bands and solo stuff. I was kinda stuck in a box for awhile thinking I had to please everyone...now I just doing anything in any style and just having fun. I found this site and I am really inspired to make music and collaborate with people.
You, and everyone else are making me feel very welcome. I can't wait to upload more and work with others.
Thanks for your support.

Thanks allot. It is funny the you mentioned the Stones because I am working a track with a very strong Stones feel right now using a Keith Richards tuning (Open G) on my Telecaster and some Harmonica loops by SlapJohnson. I hope you like that on as well.

Thanks again,
Martin

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.

Description : The first track I sing on. Cheap stage mic & no fancy plugins. Heavily guitar laden to the point it's got a bit of a shoegaze thing going on. I pulled the lyrics out of my ass & yes, they're a bit silly.

Description : BIG UPDATE 26/02/2014 - So, this was an 18 min track that I have now successfully split in two. 2nd half I uploaded a few weeks ago (Things That Should Always Be, with the bouncy 2 min reggae intro). This is the first half, which has a new mix, a mega chill, meditative ending and a little jazz thrown in for good measure. Takes a few minutes for beat to really kick in. Constantly evolving electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic drums and lead banjo driven by fat, busy 80BPM grooves with a bit of a reggae and shuffle feel. Also: synth choir voices, dulcimer, violin, cello, shimmering pads. Builds up gradually to nice and rocking and then gets taken back down for the big comedown chill. I really don't know what sort of genre this is except 'far out'. I think it sounds more like a live band than one guy playing instruments and manipulating a DAW. Not my best track but a bit of blissful, sunny island fun. Real positive vibe here so I hope you give it a chance to unfold and unfurl. Sit back, clear your schedule and immerse yourself in these trippy sonic experiments cooked up deep in my off-planet underground laboratory. I have to send the MP3 to Earth via space courier (not cheap).

Description : This track was like the inhale after an exhale of aggressive industrial-electro-sludge tracks that I had put out that summer and fall. This was the more reserved, and introspective winter track. It's nothing spectacular, but I still really enjoy it. I hope you do too. Take care. V.
