If you have time take a listen and give TheFrenZ some feedback.
Well it did not get boring despite its length. I actually listened to it two times. Techno is not a music genre I know, I like though the intense rhythm and the melodic parts. I liked the outro part very much and there were moments that I heard Chariots of fire, in techno.
My best regards and Merry Christmas

Thank you for this detailed guide. I believe it can and will be very helpful to some of our colleagues here. With such explanations, I find myself wishing we still had the forum, as I still consider it a valuable resource for support.
Best regards and have a wonderful 4th Advent, Manuela
Hello Franz, great drive and incredible quality! I especially like the structure of the third part with its slow build-up. You've come up with a lot of effect gimmicks. Did you plan those from the beginning, or did they develop as you worked on the song? By returning to the initial melody in the fourth part, youve perfectly completed the song arc. The ending with the pipe beats is a great idea and adds a final touch to the song. Great work! Best regards, Manuela.
The BIG explanation :-)
I start in my DAW (REAPER) with a Sitala drum in the template for a "four on the floor". Then adding tracks one by one where I search for a synth preset in my list of VST's that triggers me to work with, play with the KBD till I have a MIDI (loop) item that I like. A big thing in all of this is the behaviour of the VST presets, sometimes you find hidden sounds by playing with tone velocity, length, gap to next combinations, or fadeout the attack and use the sustain only. Continue adding tracks over and over again until I have a stack of tracks that represent a section for a song like a verse or chorus. When I have a chorus and a verse I start the arrangement by placing the sections at the right place creating gaps for buildups/bridges, intro, outro, etc. Then fill in the created gaps. When done arranging I have a song, but dull, so I start to "spice up" by adding focus triggers like risers and droppers at transitions, one-shots, playing with effects, envelopes to change sounds (flangers/phasers/panning/volume/velocity/instrument settings), even adding extra Synth's, all to make it more interesting, by then I heard the complete song maybe 100 times as I loop a lot (trail and error), every time I hear something I don't like, I change it, this includes the mixing. When I get stuck I pause for a while (can be days) and focus on other things and get back to it later. On each big change I start a new project version (this song is version 9 (iteration 10)). I try to keep it neet, like proper track names "Type - VST: Preset" i.e. "AR - M: ARP - Motion" is a Arp using Massive and preset "ARP - Motion". The arrangement is split up in named sections (easy to move/shrink/extend/copy) and color the sections and instrument types to have a good overview. In this track its except the vocal drones and 3 singalongs from me MIDI only, no samples used. I got some tips from @doudei on Discord:LM during development. I don't master my tracks, the result on SC/LM is the render from Reaper.
Very good beat, and simple but effective melodies. In some cases a bit of major melody over a minor Arp, but dat mag de pret niet drukken. Lovely and fun track!
Thanks, glad you like it. Didn't even check the arp if it was in key, I know I used a # somewhere, going to search for it :-)
Thanks for the remark, I should more careful in the future, that's what you get with amateurs ;-)
Description : A short minimal tech track that I made earlier this year. It's about understanding a wild animal's loneliness, fear, and pain. I would understand if they hated me, and for sure "Us." I hope it effects you. I released this on Soundcloud previously, but thought the Looperfam might get into it. You can get the new Spivkurl album "Charting The Anomaly," which includes this track at the We Are... Records Capitalist Market found here: http://www.wearerecords.com/capitalistmarket.html
Description : W.I.P.
Mysterious intro continued by a hypnotic yet very energetic trip through different techno productions. I have at least 2 more techno parts to add and a few more scary booby traps. All together a 3/4 more mins to stack behind it. After that i'll run through the piece again, finalize mixing, master it and upload incl. download. Any feedback is welcome! MMMMMMMH FRESH MEAT!
Description : techno track, haven't made one of my own in a while. Now remastered with more noises. Created in FL Studio, but rendered in audacity (Fl is very bad at making mp3s). Let me know what ya think
Description : This is my epilogue
Modeled this song after Evolution by Hy2rogen
A rework of an old song "After The Fact" which I believe is still on my old profile on here. Enjoy or don't
Thanks for joining me on this wild ass ride. Fuckin crazy it's been 13 years of music. Insane. Thank you to everyone who's ever listened to a song I've uploaded whether on here as zacvoos or ApolloForce, or on my soundclouds as ZachUndefined, RunnerTwoThree, or ApolloForce. Thank you all.
