Hi Mark,
This jazzy, funky track got me up and dancing so early and in good stead for my morning workout which sets me up to start my long day, so thank YOU! :) love the transitions throughout and especially when those bongo drums come in what a great sound, a plethora of sweet! sound/percussions, there is something for everyone in this masterpiece. Excellent! Work! as always Bravo!!! Stay Blessed & Safe My Friend.
Angelus. Thank you for the honor and privilege. I trust you had an amazing day. Also its good hearing the The Main Focus one more again. I cherish the support and feedback you shared. The fave is as always, received humbly. Stay safe my friend.
Hello Mark, I certainly don't hear any difference to the version from 2 months ago. Because I don’t remember that version either. Maybe that's because of my condition at the time *smile.
But I already said back then that the song was excellent! And I still think so today!
Very good work!
Kind regards and have a nice weekend
Manuela
Manuela! Greetings and a big thank you for stopping by and giving my track a second listen. I appreciate the feedback. You have a great weekend as well.
Hello Mark, I'm just now seeing that you're introducing a new song that I haven't added my two cents to yet *laughs. But I won't say much about it today either, because I'm in a miserable over-partying and therefore over-sleep state *smile
But I still recognize that the song goes hand in hand with an excellent quality rooted in you! All attention!
The Latin American influence is also clearly visible. The structure of the song, the inserted solos, which is supported by a wonderful rhythm combination, is excellent. All in all, once again a 100% successful song!
Kind regards, have a nice weekend Manuela
Manuela Manuela Manuela........... You mean to tell me that after a night of fun and frolicking, making merriment, dancing on tables with a lampshade on your head. You take a nap, pull up my track, dug deep and found a semblance of coherency????? And all for me? WOW, Manuela! I def had to pause and take a deep breath, LOL! I am really glad this one snapped you back so you could share your thoughts. The compliments under the circumstances are extra special:). Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and stay safe till the next round.
Incredible track. I take my hat off, I couldn't even conceive of this let alone put it into effect. No-one has mentioned the percs? So I will. Off the chart! I love it, the energy, the busy busy business, that bass, fingers would be smoking! Just amazing all round.
Chris, welcome back. It's a great thing you enjoyed my interpertation of Brazizian Jazzyness!. So you like those percs? I apperciate that mention. The bass? fingers smoking and bleeding! Just wrap em up and lets keep rolling LOL! The fave you placed here is received humbly. Peace.
Mark, my friend, whenever you post a fresh track I usually have some whiny nonsense, and then you go off and rewrite the track (or make the tiniest changes) and then when you come back I read the original comment, listen to the new version and I can't for the life of me see what bothered me before.
So either I am just a whiny bastard, or you're a genius at improving yourself. I'm guessing it's both ;)
In any case, this is awesome. The only tiniest change you could consider is to end on a grand finale with the melody going up and ending on a magnificent brass explosion.
BaoBou. Thanks for stopping back by and reevaluating what I got going on with one. I value honesty, and that's what I perceived with your first comments. One thing we share in common is that we strive to put the sounds out there just right. So, taking the feedback into thoughtful consideration, I made some changes. I appreciate the updated feedback you shared. So don't be too hard on yourself............ I call that the musician's temperament. We all have that in some form or another. Peace
hey man, this is really cooking. that first section is critical in establishing the mileu and the piano nails it, and the callbacks after 2.00 and the closing section provide continuity and contrast to the myriad inventions running thru the track. i’m really liking the gtr sounds in this one. the most zappa-esque i’ve heard from you, in a really good way.
Michael. I appreciate you stopping through, the fave, and sharing just how this one hit you. That first section you mentioned was a real beast, LOL. The piano is Keyscape's C7, my favorite grand piano. I'm working on reformulating the closing section and making it even tighter. Stay tuned as it's going to get even better. Peace.
Hello Mark, how wonderful is this track. It's so full of events that I was on the hunt for the entry the whole time. It's a mystery to me how one achieves something like this. Every single element is pure joy. At times I thought of certain Zappa recordings, and at other times Airto came to mind. One of my favorite albums of all time is IDENTITY by AIRTO MOREIRA, and somehow something from that came along too. I can't say much about it technically because I don't have the basics, but this much is certain: I thoroughly enjoyed the track and will definitely listen to it several more times to be able to grasp everything. Hats off, master!
Hey Micky. Thank you for stopping by and sharing how this one sounds so far. Zappa? WOW! Airto? I first heard him with Eumir Deodato on "Super Strut" years ago. See, when you're exposed to that level of musicianship, it sticks! And yes, please keep tabs on the progress. Peace.
Hey Mark, Now you know that you get an automatic "A Plus" in my book just on general principal alone. We're both obviously "Jazz Heads" and like you I also love Brazilian Jazz also. This is a great example of your talent showcased here with this track. Your ability to stretch the boundaries and as you've said before "keep the listener engaged." Well my friend you've more than exceeded that task with your new track. From that spectacular smooth - jazzy / funky / heavy percussion & horn tinged opening; to that "VERY NICE INTERPLAY" between the drums / percussion, guitar & bass followed by the intro of that aggressive piano that comes in shortly thereafter and all starting around 2:40 of the track. And if that weren't enough, you absolutely got me with that quick change at 3:13 with that "active odd meter drum groove / drum solo?!" that sag way right into that beautiful "steel drum melody" and tasty bassline that runs underneath and continuing to 3:38 of the track. Damn! (shaking my head) now that was pure genius my man! Have to admit you got me good with that one young jedi Lol! You start back up at 3:40 with some straight up "Brazilian Jazz" to the max and end the track on that note (pure excellence!) What I'm getting thus far from this (your latest masterpiece) is although this is certainly a "Brazilian Jazz" track in every sense of the word (kudos by the way for a job well done). I'm also getting a strong "Jazz Fusion" vibe from the track as well (big smile). And you say this is only 3/4 of the way finished? In my opinion I say just keep following what's in your heart and what you hear in your head, because as usual you are doing tha damn thang big time bruh! Excellent track Mark and I'll be checking back on your progress. And of course, a fav!
"D"! Greetings to the MAN WITH THE MASTER PLAN. YOU OL JAZZ HEAD YOU. Big appreciation for the in depth reaction and fave to what I'm doing here. You unpacked this one like you just got off the plane in Brazil, LOL! "Stretching"? I couldn't phrase it any better. As you can tell, a lot of ideas are present. And now the real fun begins. A little change here and a little tweak there. Please stay tuned as this saga continues, my friend. Peace.
Marc, my incredibly talented friend, your musicality is off the scale and I will always enjoy any track you make. You could probably throw a duffel bag filled with percussion down the stairs and make it sound like angels.
Having said that (you knew that was coming), this track has so many ideas it has me slightly befuddled. I feel I'm not smart enough to capture all of the ideas; definitely I don't know Brazilian jazz, only Brazilian rhythms; those are definitely present and top notch.
I can only speak for my self and my tiny brain; I would try to continue with the A++ elements (of which you have plenty) and trim down some of the rest - but again, maybe that is the point of Brazilian jazz and what you were trying to achieve. If so, job very well done.
I loved the typical Samba keys at 3:40, because I'm a simple soul; the bit at 3:00 is probably even better and less obvious. It morphs too fast into the next section for me and I wouldn't mind more of it. The tempo change at 1:40 is elite, and the section that starts there sounds more jazz than Brazilian but I love it - but I don't feel the connection with the other sections I mentioned. (But then again, I'm not that smart or musical.) The bit at 0:54 is inspiring, but I can't connect the rhythm to the music.
I listened the first time at very low volume, and in many places I couldn't really follow what was going on; at a bit more normal volume it makes more sense, but you could still consider to make life easier for the listener.
Or not. You're the master.
In any case, I think I could probably spin this into at least an album's worth of tracks. It's amazing and an honor to listen to, as always. _o_ Thanks for posting it!!
BaoBou, thank you very much for the stop, compliments, and perspective. As you know, the greatest joy for me is chopping through the process until the sounds in my head and heart are translated and shared clearly. I appreciate you sharing how you arrive at some of the ideas and arrangements you put down. I've already made some changes that will bring clarity to this track. So stay tuned and I'll keep it pushing. Peace.

I just put together some old ideas to see if it will work. Some vocals and brass, or guitars is clearly needed. Let me know what you think about it. Tnx
Description : Do not freak out just because this is jazz! There's also blues, rock, funk and a little hip hop in it to break up the deep, chillout jazz sections - gets particularly rocking then funky at the end. Main bassline (the track's foundation) is recycled leftover slide resonator guitar parts detuned one octave to make a slide bass sound. Also features: piano, violin, hammered dulcimer, organ, ethereal pad guitar, bass guitar, jazz/blues/rock electric guitar and multiple programmed acoustic drumkits. This was difficult to make at times as I thought I needed more leads parts eg from sax or trumpet. But I'm happyish with the end result. I expect very little interest in this as it's both jazz and long jazz. But it's also an unusual type of genre-mixing jazz. So, leave your thoughts, good or bad, if you like...
Description : This is track me and my friend (great jazz, blues musician) done
around this great vocal we acquired.
Lot of hours in it.
I had great fun making it!
Hope you people like it.
Love and peace.
Description : I think it's a late evening song to accompany you for a single drink.
Jazzy in most of the aspects. It is made single handedly so please consider it an experimentation for the thrill of making music.
Hope you will like it.
Description : This track made me just stop working on it and listen to it for enjoyment.

Description : This track contains only free loops from Stayonbeat.com and several loops from Looperman artists (listed below). I "made a promise" that my next track will be use a lot of jazzy loops - well, i done with this track, for the great sadness of jazz lovers or experts i think - i fear they will never forgive me. :) While my ISP launches my internet out of the Earth system for a long time, i had to face the fact that i dont have too much downloaded jazz loops on my computer, so i think no wonder that this one is sounds like if i smoke some marihuana while making it. But hey, who cares, i like the result - it reminds me the (maybe only) really funny episode of "Breaking Bad", where Pinkman uses some heroin and flyes up with an idiotic smile on his face - that chapter is priceless. :D
I dont think this one needs a vocal, but ofcourse you can use it if you want, and as always, just write and i will give any support as i can. Any feedback welcomed too as always. Enjoy! UPDATE 2015.10.24.: improved audio quality - lower lows, higher highs. Now in 256kbps!

Description : Something a bit different from us. I (Bobo) played guitar, synth, midi bass and percs to this piano loop by LM's most excellent Rasputin. Wataya, stoned as usual, thought he heard Barbara Streisand singing. This is the result.
Description : I created a hip hop groove in Logic and decided to duel some Saxophones. I am playing the Baritone sax on the left pan and the Tenor Sax on the right pan.
I added some bells like a boxing match bell to give it a fight drama feel. The hip hop track itself is dope to me. The duel is cool too. Who won?
