Vocaloid sounds like pretty cool software. I've just had a look at the relevant website.
Far out, trippy, dreamy intro with that fluttering synth. Something a bit 70s prog rock about it but more modern and electro. Also kind of dirty cool, slightly vocally bassline.
0:35 cool noise in that drum fill.
Then into a very sparse and simple drum groove and those magical vocals. The panning stands out. Maybe it's a little odd or maybe it's just different. One voice in the left ear, another in the right but not panned as far to the right.
Again: very distinctive vocals. I wonder if most Vocaloid stuff sounds like this. I'm sure I could make good use of such software so will have a think about getting it.
You keep your instrument lineup pretty much the same throughout the track but they're good sounds. Maybe you could add some reverb to the drums to make things go a bit bigger in the second half?
Making this song was for me an excersize about using vocals and vocoders.
usually vocaloid songs really dont sound like this,
also I made the normal vocaloid vocals first and over 2 of them I also used a Vocoder.
usually vocaloid songs are the hyperactive chipmunk sounds that you usually hear in anime songs for example (not really but kinda) (for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtdvIKgQ5As skip to 00:45 and listen for about 10 seconds or so))
anyhoo again thanks for the kind words man, I appreciate!
Cool track...Still needs a little somum, somum to take out of
that single dimension, never the less it has lots of potential...
Maybe some other voices, on a different time groove not to far
off the wall but harmonically tight...Got a good mix there...
At this point it's something little that will bump it up...
Something really good going on here.
Brings to my mind Laurie Anderson and Eno.
I can't give any in depth technical advice other than listen to promenade2239.
I wish you all the best with your album.
fantastic unique sound. great ideas. really digging this. that bass sound has a neat scraggly tail. those alien girls are hot! brilliant concept and really fun to listen to! congrats!
hi again and thanks a lot for the reply! really good to hear the updates. I love what you did!
also I checked the vocaloid and this is some cool software. I was using a lot of Ivona 'text to speech' synth but never ever expected that vocaloid singing thing sounded that good. you have used it very well, I really like the little counter-melody work at places.
there are still some elements in the background (for instance: synth at 1:05) that in my opinion will require a little bit of work, maybe simply by adding straight chord progressions. to me all tracks of your song are actually playing very similar rhythm pattern... so it is a 'minimal approach' in a way and that's fine - I like your vision.
as for a 'proper song' thought: I need to hear much more powerful instrumental section that might balance somehow the long repetitive vocal passages here. your tune sounds to me like it is not that enough 'structured' so far but of course it is just the way of how I picture the eventual further development of it... will you be reworking this again by chance? if so I can always try to help you by adding something to this project...
Hey good to hear from you again!
First of all of course thanks that u like it!
I never really heard of ivona text to speach, but Maybe I will check it out later, sounds a bit interesting, since I love that kinda stuff to work with.
this track was the first timime I actually used Vocaloid and a Vocoder Over the vocaloid, its a pretty awesome tool I noticed.
I'm not sure what sound you mean at 1:05, I am guessing you mean 1:12 maybe?
Anyhoo my Tracks are usually inspired by daft punk, and usually make repetitive tracks, this was not meant as a 'proper song' actually, but I can understand why you say that because of the small instrumental breaks I put it, I purely did that to fill up the song a bit with only instruments and no vocals.
I wasn't planning on changing this song again, but if you want you can try to add stuff, I am kinda curious what kinda stuff you would do with it.
the song is free to download as you know, the BPM is 160 and I use the measure 3/4 :D hope to hear from you again!
hi. I really like your vision but somehow I find the vocals not present and articulated enough. maybe it's only because I am listening on headphones now... I can't understand the words, can you post the lyrics sometime? I noticed many people on here do not even bother to do that. I think you might even consider introducing other layers on the second section of the track, it can help breaking the 'repetitivity'. repetitive music is powerful as well but I say that because your production sounds more like a proper 'song' to me.
You have a good ear.
To be honest, I listened back to the song and was deeply dissapointed with the vocals, it doesnt sound how I want them to sound, I am well aware of that and fixing what I can in a frew minutes after writing this.
Usually I write lyrics on this site on my tracks, but had the feeling that most people didnt even notice I did, so I just skipped it this time, but I can write them no problem (though they usually dont make any sence, that is how I work :p)
Also the reason you cant make out the words is, because I usually use VOCALOID to do the singing, which is a japanese instrument that produces japanese words, though this version usual english words, regardless the words are barely recognisable
I hope to be able to fix the vocals to be more present indeed, thanks for the input.
Description : Feel free to check out the video on YT as well (Alan McLaren Project - Upside Down) of this 6min journey from electronic to rock with some psychedelic moments...
This is my latest, but also one of my earliest tracks.... any feedback is more than welcome, thanks :)
Description : 'The main point of this song is really about the frustrations of living in the overload of today's World of Tech. The consequences are impaired communication and that if you advance too far you end up diminishing what you had to start with, so you are way worse off.' Enjoy a 60s Rhythm with a modern deep Bass, a Sitar, a Piano from EvilPianist, a lost flute from UniverseHuston and some Oscillators :-)

Description : A demo of one of my current projects. The chorus vocal sounds like "Aaaaraashe" to me. The song is in C# minor with a nod to C# pythagorean on the chorus. The beat on the verse was inspired by the Peter Gabriel song Intruder.
Description : This is one of my earliest productions that I did at the start of my recording career. I did not have a keyboard at the time I made this song, so I improvised and used my sister's iPad and a 5 dollar GarageBand application instead, and plugged the headset jack into into my PT6 rig and did my best to turn each individual track (which were mono and there were about 25 tracks or so) into a stereo image. Then recorded vocals over it. My computer was so old and slow that I had to mix my music and then BOUNCE it to a new session - four times. My computer (which had 512 MB RAM and an 80 GB hard drive) couldn't handle more than 8 tracks at a time or it'd stop working because the processor couldn't handle it. Took me FOREVER to do. But I got it done. Had a lot of fun doing it too, even if it isn't my "best" work. I'm still happy with it, considering I didn't have many tools to choose from at the time.
Description : Long time lurker first time poster, pretty new to production n stuff, this is my first track in Ableton Live.
was going for a darkwave/synthwave sound, reminiscent of Justice, Carpenter Brut, Perturbator, ect.
Looking for some feed back, constructive criticisms or even just your thoughts if you liked it or not. This is just a rough cut on this current WIP, just the bones of it if you will.. If you have some cool title suggestions, would love to hear those too.
Thanks for listening.

Still loving it, thanks for this track!
