It's a hit, midiman! Like a big song on the radio. outstanding professional level stuff (IMHO). Your mix is rich, the drums and the synths all create a beautiful texture for her voice. love when the solo guitar entrance towards the end. big fav.
thanks midisparks I appreciate your comments.. I am quite confused now some say it is a good mix some say it has some timing issues. Might I ask what kind of speakers did you listen to it on.
I believe their may be some timing issues throughout with the vocal letting the flow and dynamic down a bit.promising arrangement though. good luck with future projects.
many thanks for your reply. ok with the toms. I use also ezdrummer plugun but in a quite different way... I might sometimes be pointing some issues that seem strange and in fact usless for some people cause Im listening to so many music genres at the moment - that's all! Sorry for any confusion. But apart from all that I really enjoyed your track and liked your vision on this song. Best, Alex
hi again, just had an impression that the intro drums (0:00 - 0:15) are phase-panned. At the moment I experiment a lot with the effects but I never 'move' instruments like this. of course you can pan them even hard left/right but the drums for the most part drive the the tracks like this so such an effect is a bit strange here, at least for me. I think the 'retro' tracks like this need simply quite different kind of effects. Alex
Thanks for the explanation of what you are hearing.
First the toms are always panned left and right on a normal drums set. I just played the toms they came out panned left, center and right. The panning is normal. Play your toms on EZdrummer or a similar drum machine. The snare and kick are dead center on a mix. Just as is the bass.
I kind of like the panning on the intro it makes the song sound different.
Again thanks for the comments. I hoped I explained this to you.
hi midiman, I much enjoyed a kind of a retro 80s 90s(?) pop sounds in here. Excellent work on this one! the only thing is some strange processing(s) added to the entire track (panning?) and also to the single parts that make it sound so special and unusual(?) but its still relative of course...
great track! Alex
I really enjoyed this track. Midiman. Yes, it is pop and yes it has a retro sound to it, but I LIKE pop and like retro! :) The instrumental backing is very lush. On occasion the timing of the vocals did not match the plus (tempo) of the backing track. If you have the software, I'd attempt some time stretching to change the phrasing of the vocals so that align better. Most of the time they were fine. You have the "Where are you now" refrain repeat 4 times in the track. I actually think it would be more effective if it only repeated twice. I know that 4 repeats of things seems to be a standard practice in EDM, but for pop and for this track in particular, i'd see how it feels cut back to 2 repeats.
But, all in all, I really liked the song. Thanks for posting it!
Thanks for your comments. I will try and fit the vocals a bit tighter in the track on the next remix. I think the Drums sounds need some work on the current mix.
"what kind of speakers are you listening to this on"
Actually, I never listen to Looperman tracks on proper speakers. I mostly just use not very good earbud headphones plugged into the laptop.
Sometimes I listen back to my own tracks out of the laptop's shitty inbuilt speakers (the kind with pathetic bass). My tracks have a lot of bass in them so it's interesting to hear a track played back with almost no bass that still manages to sound pretty damn good.
"I know most pop songs have the octive bass in it."
I'm not so sure. I think it's more of a feature of funk and disco. Anyway, it makes sense in your track. I hope you can get a better mix of this. It sounds pretty good but could be better.
StaticNomad thanks for the feed back I use Tanoy studio monitors when I mix I think I need to start listing to my the mixes on less ample speakers. I will deffinatly remix and get it better Again thanks for the help in making my mixes better.
Hi. I think this is a pretty decent pop song though I feel the production could be much improved.
Bass and drums don't punch and kick they way they probably should. For a start (easy to fix) the bright pad synth seems too loud and is taking up a lot of space and drowning out that rhythm section.
Bass is quite subdued and also seems to be panned a bit too much to the left.
This has quite a jubilant, easy listening 80s synthpop sort of feel to it. I guess a bit of disco thrown in too from that guitar. And also the octave jumping bass guitar parts which remind me a little of ELO's excellent Last Train To London. Do you know it?
She has a good voice well suited to pop music though it's not really my kind of thing.
Good work though I hope you can make it more powerful and get that engine room of bass and drums cutting better though the mix.
First tahnks for the feed back.
Yes the 80 and 90 was music. I really enjoyed those years also. I am glad you enjoyed the track and it brought back good memories.

Description : This is only a snippet of a little thing I threw together today. It features the lead vocal of our own Janis71. I have added 3 harmonies to her original loop. Kinda sounds Disco-y. I am very new to audio mixing, and hence am only stabbing in the dark here.
Description : Did I mention that I almost daily listen to funk and disco whilst working? Well, it is the perfect mixture of positive vibes and a steady groove. However I found it always challenging to put a good groovy Disco / Funk songs together. I guess you already heard Silver Bellas song from the AlanMcLarenProject. This is my (totally different) version. Please tell me if your feet went into the groove :-) Cheers, Oli
Description : Inspired by true events :)
Hey Looperfam!
-The vocal is in my acapella section.
I would love to hear some remixes. It was originally recorded as punk/glam, then I found the arpeggiator.
Hit me up for hi-res source.
Have a great day!

Description : I used a sample from the song Avicii and the rest of the instruments I added myself, I made this song because I do like a melodic line ...
Description : Decided to try my hand at making a 70’s old-school Disco track, shamelessly complete with a variety of Disco cliches. Tried to write some Disco lyrics but couldn’t come up with anything worthwhile. Decided to write lyrics about our cat. Name is “Bailey”, but mostly we call her “Bailey Boo”. Vocals made with Synthesizer V Studio from Dreamtonics.
Description : A little disco, a little funk, and just feel good 70s style music. Featuring some drum, bass, and guitar solos, with some groovy horns and disco vocals. Check it out...It will do you no harm!
Description : I created a new song in the 80s disco-pop style. Well, who still remembers the days when we danced for hours in the club? Yeah... maybe we're a little older now, but the groove is still alive! or ;-)
I thought it came out pretty well also.

I do not under stand what you mean by the only thing is some strange processing(s) added to the entire track (panning?)
Can you please explain a little bit more in detail.
Thanks again for listening.
