Matt, I assume that's you doing the singing on this track? Sounds really good. I like the simplicity and your (usual) excellent orchestration. You get much better results that I do with orchestral arrangements. It can't just be that you have better sounding VSI's that I do. That being said, this is one track where I wish you'd uploaded the acappella because I might be inclined to try an entirely different backing track for the vocals. Not sure what, exactly, but there's a mellotron in there someplace I think! :)
well....you should to be happy with this one Maff....a bit short & sweet...but its got the goods intended I think...We dont all have the same taste in music just as we all dont like the same kind of art...but I liked this one...piano and strings always get my ears pleasantly perked..dm good singer too...good job...Keep doing it your way......Ed
There would probably a thousand things to write here, but what I remember mostly is what you have done. This is quite awesome.
There are all the ingredients for a good track .... and I know whereof I speak.
You may redo it again, but keep the frame of this musical history, It's important .... This is just my humble opinion of course .... Good luck.
" it's the obvious thing to do in a way...but it doesn't do it justice and makes a good thing dull."
Well, I'm glad we agree. I took a slight risk of offence writing that as you might have absolutely loved this version.
If I were a record company boss I'd probably say go with the MOR version.
Damn, just realised you've reverted back to the original so I can't comment on the longer one.
Anyway, the record company would say do the longer MOR version, make a video, have some hot women fawning over your suited lead singer, people get their lighters out and sway and all that.
But, you've got an opportunity to do something unexpected with this. Just through you choice of music over those same vocals.
First off: make the longer version groove a lot more. You'll probably do some sort of electro pop funk though I'd prefer to see a bit of edge. Make it slightly rougher and darker and edgier and it could stand out as something quite different.
I think the 2 min version sort of does everything you need for its vibe and then the other 3.5 mins didn't add anything, just sort of plodded along.
Give the extended version some real balls and people will probably enjoy the surprise.
Really didn't understand your previous reply of "Thanks. I think we had the same idea...ish...let me know :)"
Now I get it - there's a full version. But I don't think we did have the same idea!
1:52 drum fill definitely isn't right. It comes in too early, before that vocal and mood has decayed.
So, this continuation continues (when the drums enter)in the most obvious and natural way. With my eclectic sort of tastes, I was sort of hoping for something slightly more unusual.
It's all pleasant but maybe, with those drums, a bit light and middle of the road. They're not really making the track kick or groove. Might be better without them, as in first 2 mins.
I was hoping they'd come in and really make the whole thing take off with some deep grooves. Strange that it overall feels like quite a short track. I'm still trying to work out why as 5:46 is a pretty decent length.
So, overall, and other people may shoot me down for saying this, I preferred the 2 min version. But don't worry too much about my opinion and preferences as lots of other people will love this.
You're right. It just doesn't work. I think I needed to go through the MOR thing, just to hear it out loud as it's the obvious thing to do in a way...but it doesn't do it justice and makes a good thing dull.
I'm back at the drawing board right now...but I think I've got a better idea...
Very nice, Maff! Love it, as is, but if you want a critique, maybe boost the overall volume and possible a bit less reverb on the vocals, but that's just me.
Thanks Scott - yeah the reverb is a bit all over the place at the moment, and there's a poor dead spot around 3.49 to 3.59 where nothing happens, which needs more orchestration. That cello F sharp at 1.58 I think is musically right, but bloody robot cellist can't play it legato, so that needs sorting.
I'll pick up the levels too and sort out the mix, but just wanted a nod I was heading in the right direction here...
I liked the simplicity of the original, and didn't want to ruin it (!), but def wanted it to 'open out' without getting too Bryan Adamsy....
Yea. love this track. All the music is great. I really like the way there are spaces between vocal phrases to let the listener process. And the second section with bass really sits well.
I think you could give it more presence in the mix, maybe a shade brighter, vocs up a little in the first section.
(Still I'm an old guy and my ears may not be quite up there so take my suggestions with a pinch of salt :) )
Yeah this is tight.
I tend to like it as it is.
Its beautiful musically, great words and wonderful meaning.
But I'm also curious as to what else you might have in store.
Vocals sound very close to Sonny Sandoval, lead singer to P.O.D. and one of my favorite bands on the face.
Wow, this is brilliant. Where the hell are those vocals from? Surely that must be some sort of 'name' singer?
This truly sounds like it could/should be a big hit. Boybands, crooners and all sorts of other people would love to sing it.
You may have gathered by now that I tend to like long (or very long) deep stuff. But I actually think this works fine at this really rather short length.
But it does promise so much more so perhaps you could do two versions?
If I were making it, my longer version might even kick straight into metal, just after the vocal has finished. I challenge you to do a longer version that is a surprise and maybe just keep the shorter version drumless and with the same vibe you have here.
Piano sounds great right from the off and I just had the feeling that everything else would be great too. I quite like how the strings and piano don't start at exactly the same time.
Yeah, those 2 colleagues are right...this is fantastic, specially the vocs...I have to say, that's incredible voice...don't know, if it's yours or this is from somewhere else but who cares, you are lucky...:-)
Full song in it's state for me...
Standing ovation, Danke
I think this is one of the best tunes and songs I have heard on this site. A fantastic job. It is perfect as it stands or you could take it anywhere you wanted.
Now excuse me while I go listen to your other tracks.
Description : This song was one of the first ones I uploaded here to Looperman. I made this over a year ago, how quickly time flies :') A free download has been made available as my gift to you guys for Christmas this year! Enjoy!
Description : This track is the first two sections of what will (hopefully) be a three-part piece — essentially a suite. I am posting parts 1 and 2 because I think they are ready for feedback from Looperman members. Part 3 isn’t done yet because it requires Human League style vocals from a singer with a distinct British accent. I have the melody and lyrics worked out. I sent a private message a while ago to a Looperman member who I think has the right voice for the job. But, haven’t had a response. Until I find a vocalist for it, I can’t finish the piece. In any case, the total file size of the complete piece would be greater than the Looperman limit, so it will have to be split into parts anyway.
Parts 1 and 2, in fact the whole thing, were inspired by acapellas posted here on Looperman by Jacques Demers:
If you haven’t checked out Jacques’ tracks yet, you really should. He doesn’t set them up as “featured” so it might be easy to miss them.
The harmony in Jacques’ acapellas sounded very “Beatle-ish” to me, and that made me want to try my hand at doing a George Martin style treatment. I remembered that ScottsCovers here on Looperman had mentioned an instrument called a Mellotron, which was used by the Beatles, the Moody Blues, Genesis, along with other groups of that era, so I decided to use a VST mellotron as the primary instrument for Parts 1 and 2.
The acapella in Part 2 was in a different key than the one used for Part 1, so I needed to find a chord progression in Part 1 that would modulate the key. Jacques gave me some advice on that, which you can see in the comments on his first acapella.
Part 1 has harp, mellotron flutes, clarinet, french horns, and my attempt at a Penny Lane type trumpet solo (but much simpler). Part 2 has a string ensemble, solo oboe and trumpet in unison, and some Daniel Langois type processed guitars. Both parts were recorded at 60 bpm, largely because that’s where the acapellas seemed to sync best. However, I played the instrument tracks freestyle (rubato), so the tempo actually varies somewhat. Definitely not quantized!
There is a storyline behind this track. Part 1 is the blooming stage of a relationship. Part 2 is about the relationship in decline. Part 3, with vocals, will be about ending it.
I’ve included the transition to Part 3 (which will be a more traditional synth pop section) and just a bit of the first verse backing instrumental so you can get an idea of how things are headed in the final part.
Description : I promise a suprise for non-members once I reach 100 plays, now they can DOWNLOAD it FOR FREE. The only condition are these three simple rules: 01. If you plan to use it somewhere, let me know and send me the link by private message. 02. You also have to put me as the composer of this song. 03. I don't want commercial use and you can use it for youtube project.

This songs is like a normal day in my life... as my brain point of view. The first part is the morning with strings, horns, clarinette and flute. It's a joyful and beautiful day ! Then, there's a sort of "bridge" between the morning part and the afternoon. Afternoon is awesome and chaotic at the same time, that's why I added dubstep in the middle of the song. Finally, the evening and the night are the second bridge and the end of this piece.
It's the first song I mix Orchestral and Dubstep.
Whole s music maker Jam with Movie Score 1/2/3 and Dubstep (i think it's Vol.2) loops.
Mix = Music Maker (Soundtrack Edition)
Final details = Music Studio
It's a Raw Mix because I really like this song and I want to make a better version ONLY with Music Maker Jam (without mix or whatever, execept for the sound quality).
Description : I created this track for the love I have for puppies. I love them. Everybody does. This day I went to this park nearby my colony and saw couple of them and thought of making something musically. So this is what i came up with. This time I haven't played much with FX or Technical aspects. Just pure simple & soft melodies. As it is unmixed & unfinished track, request you to boost the volume a little. Hope you all like it! Cheers! :)
Description : I decided to make a cover track using only the free LABS instruments from SpitfireAudio - so I picked the classic "Souvenir" by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. Enjoy!
LABS instruments used:
- Scary Strings
- Strings
- Strings 2
- Amp Cello Quartet
- Choir
- Dulcimer
- Granular piano
- Chiffons piano
- Moon guitar
- Hand bells
plus a few percussion extras from Garageband!
Description : Violin Bow Factory is a remix of Rainbow Factory by WoodenToaster wich is a NightCore track. The story behind Rainbow factory is pretty dark so I invite you the check the original version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRx_iXgLAyw
All parts of the story written and inspired by a dream. A very personal story. I can't sing,so the emotions are in the notes. This is the instrumental version. The sheet music was written for a group.
The Expanse is the beginning, a journey into the unknown, a risk.
If you want the 4 part story names, check the song lyrics tab.
Description : First one I posted on here not too long ago when I tried this out. Would love to dabble more with this type for sure as I love the orchestral/cinematic tracks I find on here! Great loops I found by MINOR2GO that I threw together. I just added the bass drum and slight fx here and there. I would consider this cinematic as well. Thanks!
Description : THE JINNI feat. Micki Consiglio (Produced by Atomic Beats). This is the outro from the international collaborative project called, "THE EP", by THE JINNI & DaViglio. Released on May 25, 2013.
10/10
