I have played in some hits live as the recording was happening to give an off-grid groove to the loops. FX are just delay and tumbling delay (with a touch of plate reverb from my mixer).

Description : MC-505 running through the bit reduction and lo-fi FX in the SP-606. Really crunchy and dirty top loops for any kind of EDM needing a bit of grit. No further FX added on the computer - just raw recordings of the hardware.

Description : Continuing my drum machine odyssey by trying to learn every famous pattern (impossible of course but anyway) so that I can program my drum machines with more variety and panache. This pattern is the basic boom bap programmed into my SP-606 sampler with the vinylizer and compressor turned up. The drum hits are all sampled from 80s hip hop records and processed on the SP.

Description : RD-9 for the kick itself and the clap. SP-606 for the hats, with a janky swing effect on them. The whole lot is recorded through an overdriven and compressed pair of inputs on the mixer. No computer FX added.

Description : Roland SP-606 Sampler. Using the feedback ripper FX to make a polyrhythm that would be near-impossible to play or program. Then I filtered the result through my FX array. Comes to life when layered with other on-grid percussion.
