Played this one for the wife for St Patrick's day as My heritage is 50% Irish. I wanted to hear the feedback of a classically trained opera singer. She liked it found it melancholy but pleasant. I still enjoy this one.

So Dave, Welcome to music making. My advice to you is to be more assertive in your descriptive area when presenting this to the public. people feed off of the confidence and will more than likely listen. You could say. I'm new to this and I just made a fun tune that I like I was looking for your feedback from some of the experienced members to let me know what I can more with it.
As for the song, it has some nice chord changes and completely reminds me of this tune. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvbkMpssrjU
I put on the extended version so you hear how Giorgio Moroder builds this tune in the studio from an arrangers point of view.
Keep making tunes, keep practicing and you will get better and better. This one has a lot of promise.
Cru
Thanks Cru, looking at your and Silverman's comments, I've gotta feeling I'll have to start from scratch and take a new approach like I did with rising nuclear sun. The original version rising nuclear sun was in development hell for months and extending north of 6 minutes long. Will look into LMMS and Audacity a bit more to see if I can add more effects. This is the first time I used both Garageband V6 and V10 together and apologies if the sound is worse than previous due to messing with the equalizers, mp3 bitrate and compressors. Will change the text. I know it looks like the work of an amateur but versions change in quality as new suggestions are applied and new attempts are made. I've been in this game almost two years now. Once again thanks for the suggestions and constructive advice. -Dave
Very Very good. The building of tension is incredible. The minimalism of the arps. I would want to remix this into something bigger and bolder building on your tension idea.
Awesome work.
Cru
The bass line and awkward time signature makes this seem like a "Sinister march of the Insects". Don't get me wrong it's a brilliant idea and sounds awesome but scared the living shit out of me when I listened to it. I hate bugs!
yea - I can rarely post loops because they are banned for not being in straight 4/4 time. I like the odd-meter stuff can't deny it. I was going for ambient effect mostly but I ended up with a couple of pretty scary sounds. Hope you are better now! Thanks for the listen and positive comment. Dan
Geez, I just listened to this song again after being away for a while and it makes me want to record again :( Alas, patience is a virtue. Loved the song by the way!
Very good, like a mix of future house and big house (without the annoying elements of that genre). I can see the floor absolutely going nuts for this one. great job. The percussion builds perfectly. And your drops are great as well. Really good job executing the arrangement of this one. Not sure about the drum fill at the end unless your just making sure were paying attention..;-)
Cru
Just peeked in to have a listen. Yeah.... the future is in good hands, you are moving house and dance in to what I think the future of it will be. Bright shiny sounds that are smooth production wise with a hint of chip tune sounds to give a nice homage to the video game set of yesteryear.
I will be paying attention.

This song is graceful, haunting, sentimental and touching with just a slight air of detachment. A Beautiful work of art.
It reminded me of three different artists songs that you may or may not be aware of as they were never truly mainstream artists but nevertheless there are elements in those three songs that you captured in one song which struck me.
The first is from Ultravox and is an instrumental called Astradyne which starts there colossal album Vienna. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-kVZsO1GCk
The second is an African artist from senegal named Babba Maal and his song playing the guitar like instrument called a Kora and acoustic guitar. I find his music has an irish like tone similar in some of the works. Especially in his song Souka Naya. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqPFQGF-sRM&index=32&list=PLF9F9ll40VBF6lJdPJhRqkbUx5Ep6XaDl
And the last song is from Phil Manzanera, the guitarist of Roxy Music in his solo work made this extrodinary synth based ambient song called Europe 70-1, which starts out a bright and hopeful and cheery but becomes ambient and sentimental. it was the first time I heard analogue synths convey emotion . As you have done in your own work my friend. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAAVdtmXAMA

Hi Steve...thank you so much for all the generous words!
Mentioning some of my personal favourite bands and artists
like Ultravox and Roxy's lad Manzanera is an excitement on its own...Thanks alot for the links...I will certainly check them out !:)
To me this is an interesting juxtaposition of american blues and european accordion that would make an awesome intro to a heavy thrash metal tune. If you keep going with the chord changes as heavy guitar riffs and add some blast drums this could become a very interesting song.
I am not a real good guitar payer and i dont know why but i dont think that i could change it cause i love it like it is. But feel free to do so and if you need i will send you the accordion steem
Lovecraft just twitched in his grave...and so did I. Very magnanimous song! Sorry have to go Cuthlulu is yelling at me to make the hor d'oeuvres for the guests or he will inflict Pimoa spiders upon my being... ghastly!!
Cru
nice chord structure in the intro.good solo start not too intricate, starts to create a melody. That is some extreme wah, but not to be undersold the drums are very stong. this needs some vocals indeed....as I am writing that, we get some spoken words.. nice, but not enough. 3:02 needs an ass kicking guitar solo. This is a perfect example of a good song that needs the screaming vocalist and the lead guitarist in action too complete it.\good work.
Cru
I totaly agree with you. I have one guitar that I actually never use besides when I'm drunk and also I've got an really great microphone that would use if I ever get the guts to try the vocals on my own.
4 stars from me. I love the groove. But the stutter vox is excellent and gives the track it's moments of minimalism as you build with a lot of staccato sounds. I would love to hear a long drawn out remix of this one for the deep club set. Great work though!
Cru
Love that rhodes piano, then we get hit with that bass line. then the spaceman dirty blues guitar. I love the usage of this pella. So different from what I used in "House Witch" (which was a partial usage of the opening phrase. You bring out the emotion in a blues-psychedelic way with the voice in your arrangement. The sax and guitar answer session at 2:16 is momentous. I didn't want it to end so soon!
Ciao Steve
I don't know, something about this one made me go back and want to listen to old KISS like strutter and deuce. I like the straight ahead style of this one. good work.
Great tune, awesome vocals, it's mixed so well. I am a huge fan of DVD audio and have a question about when you mix to 5.1. Do you start at a sample rate of 96k or 48k and 24 bit, and dumb it down for the stereo mp3 mix. Or do you just do a surround mix in 44k 16 bit?
Steve
I'll tell you my process and hope I answer your question. I use Sonar X3 Producer for my DAW and do all my tracks as stereo. After I get a sound that I'm fairly happy with, I decide what tracks go where, i.e. vocals on center speaker, strings on rear and so forth and set Sonar accordingly. I, than, bring it into WavePad editor in 96K, 24 bit and visually inspect it and fade in or out as needed then save it to .wav, .flac and mp3. I have to check it on my surround system, since the system I use for mixing is in stereo. I, again, edit the mix from there. I'm still fairly new at this, but I've been happy with the results so far. LMK any other question you may have.
Weird feeling I got just listening to the beginning. I felt as though it were a late summer evening, and I was sitting on a curb looking down from my hilltop at the street descending from the hilltop I was perched at. And then all Irish hell broke loose. like a gang of Unionists squared off against the loyalists. The sheer blast of emotion from your music Evan is amazing. I feel you have captured Na Trioblóidí with perfection, but you have meant the "Troubles" to belong to the states this election cycle. Amazing tune. Awesome!

That's all I want to do. Trying my best to translate a feeling I get into sound. I use the voice recorder on my phone a lot. The sound of a scenario, I guess is what I'm trying to do. Using no vocals helps in developing silent narration. Speaking through an instrument. I wish I could make the keys my bitch, like you do. Always good stuff.
I appreciate the listen, and the short story of the hill skirmish. Made my evening.
I like the vertigo feel this tune gives you in your mix style and use of detuned rhodes pianos. Your rapping consonant placement was good as well. A little breathing struggles. Also I would like a little more bass on your vox, it sounds to middle muffed in the eq. Overall a great rap tune and you should keep on shining it up.
Cru
thank you very much I just started recording and mixing is a whole world undiscovered for me But im trying to get better at it thanks for the advice. !
