on Hirogenium Feat PatriciaEdwards VS ProLyfik - YSM by Hirogenium
I'm diggin the effects ya placed on the vox. Makes this sound as if its bein played at an outdoor arena/club. Kinda wished the Prolyfik stuff lasted longer (to balance better with MIM4E's stuff- like M verse 1, verse 2, chorus, verse 3, P verse 1, M chorus,.. etc). Dunno if that's possible though coz I haven't heard the original 'pellas yet. Would be cool if this was a longer track though. Music-wise the synth work is keen (I'd make the bass a bit deeper though). Otherwise this is pretty solid mate. Lates!

Thank you for the detailed review. Yeah, there's a longer version, I tried to split up the pellas for more variation, but I wasn't happy with the result. A third one was involved, too. So, I'm going to uphold this version temporarily. cheers

Cool description mate (though it sux that the guy died). I dunno why, but this makes me think of a setting similar to the one in Monument Valley nat'l park- with the mesas, spiders, and all. Musically, this makes me think of what'd happen if INXS met up with Collective Soul and did a face-off with Steely Dan and Pearl Jam. Very nice jams here mate. Wouldn't change a single thing about it, but if I were to suggest anything it'd be to consider adding some tribal chants/singing (but that's just my craziness chimin in there). Otherwise, this is golden. Will def fave/save. Lates!

Hey Donnie thanks man!....I've only seen pics of Monument Valley (totally unreal looking place!)..the rock climber's mecca!....all our Australian mountainous areas have been pretty well all worn down by time(highest peak is about 5000ft),being a much older landmass than America, their still cool places to look at though...thanks for the listen mate..cheers Dave

This tune sounds so familiar, couldn't tell you why though. Maybe b/c its been floating around on the loop as long as it has (I'm sure this spawned a few mixes or extension collabs). The groove of this takes me back to 80s detective shows (or 70s flicks). And though the primary focus was the bass & horns here I'm actually digging some of the other stuff that went behind this (like the flutes & chimes or SFX). Really adds to the atmos (takes it in a completely different direction from the main IMO). Nicely done mate. Lates!

Hey Donnie..thanks mate!you know it's interesting,I think I spend more time sometimes looking for the right little Fax and syn th transient than I do on the main thrust of the project...haha,getting bogged down minutia always happens to obsessive compulsives!...thanks again mate..cheers Dave :)

With my sub off it sounds okay (sorta like listenin to this on a pair of old Walkman headphones though). With it on the bass has that nice growl to it. Really digging the stutter effect ya threw onto the piano here (sorta gives it an old film reel messin up feel). As for suggestions, I'd consider maybe trimming/compressing the time of the intro drums/drum-heavy part at the beginning (to introduce the piano stuff earlier or you could maybe expand on that stuff to make it last longer & more melodic). Otherwise, this is pretty solid. Lates!

This sounds so much better with a woofer (kinda doesn't have as much umphf without it). The growly bass & the warbly synth give this a really cool atmo to go along with the overall movement of the main synths leads. Dunno how I feel about the drums- they fit nicely, but I kinda wished that they were heavier/grittier. I dunno though (might serve to overpower the main mix if they had more boom). Other than that this is pretty killer mate (def saved/faved). Lates!

Venturing down the experimental highway, ay? Rawk on. Sorta cerebral ambient or somethin (progressive chill?). Dunno why, but me thinks that this'd be even cooler with some vox (not necc' singin/rappin though). Some kind of spoken word (either like Art of Noise did on their Seduction of Claude Debussy album or like the stuff that was on the Plate Tectonics mix CD of old news announcements). I dunno, could just do just as good without I suppose. Either way, interesting stuff mate. Lates!

Really diggin the synth treatment (with delay) at the beginning and the rolling timpani (?)- mixed with the synth it sorta gives this an oriental vibe. This is somethin in the vain of DHT or Lasgo doin work on a Michelle Yeoh project, me thinks. Coll stuff mate. Lates!

on If I Let You Go by Dubh3124
Alright, so between the 2 versions I happen to enjoy this one more (seems more emotive IMO). Not to say the other vers didn't have heart, it just wasn't as powerful (kinda repetitive if I remember right). This one lets you hear the cool key progression and flow better. As for mixing, the only thing that I'd say would make this even tighter is throwin in some fades with the transitions (so stuff isn't just coming in or going out all suddenly). And the beat could use some slight tweaking, but otherwise this is pretty cool. Keep bangin 'em out mate. Lates!

Kinda short, but its an interesting lil teaser ya threw out here mate. Can defo hear this with some vox to it (some guy rappin with some chick singin some blues-heavy R&B in a raspy voice, like think along the lines of someone like Mos Def teamin up with Erykah Badu, ya know). Try something like that and keep it goin mang. Lates!

Diggin the interesting effects & synth ya got on this. Makes me think of it coming out of either a telephone or one of those old Walkmans through small headphones (the ones with 1 inch foam covered cups). It'd be kinda interesting to hear how this'd sound without those effects on 'em, ya know? Hey, maybe that'd be a cool way to extend this baby out some more (make it go to like 2:30 for example). As is, this makes me think of one of those promo commercials they do sometimes on Cartoon Network (has a sorta Cowboy Bebop/Ghost In The Shell vibe to it). Keep bangin 'em out mate. Lates!

on Put In Work by KillaKeishh
Yeah, this is a pretty decent tune. Love the way the vox and the synths work with each other (interweaved the way they do). Also thing dudes flow is nice. All that remains now is to do some polishing. Like, yer gonna wanna watch yer levels coz it sounds like you've got some clipping going on (really evident with the distortion this has). I'd also consider tweakin the end so its falls off a lil smoother (seems sorta uncertain at the moment). Otherwise that it's straight. Lates!

on EAR WAX by BeatHogPros
That beat sounds so familiar. The vox on this are re-dic-u-lus. Sounds like ya had a fun doin it (mad clownin). To extend on what MrMiser was sayin this kinda reminds me of what'd happen if the Bloodhound guys got together with Digital Underground, ya know? The only thing that I'd recommend is fading the song out quicker after ya stop rappin... Or... Drop the vocal fade and then fade up the backing music (while also maybe repeating the female backing vocals like 1 or 2 times). Otherwise, this is pretty bangin mate. Lates!

on Deep Red by Protoneutro
Heya mate, you were lookin for some feedback?
Alright here goes...

Dunno how I feel about the drawn out intro (especially the first 30 seconds). Don't get me wrong, it was a creative way to approach the song from a different, not-so-traditional way. However, I felt that it took just a little too long to get into the real meat of the song (the main synths). Which I feel are dead-on the strongest part of the song. The way you've got the leads, pads, and bass interlaced and flowing is nice. The only thing that I could think to recommend there is maybe punching up the bass stuff a bit more so it can be heard more (and felt with the deep kicks on the floor, ya know?). I'd also suggest going back and watching your levels because I suspect you're getting really close to red (gathering this from all the distortion I'm getting at the higher volumes, mostly on the outer freqs, the lows & highs). Otherwise you're good to go with this!
(ooh, I just had an idea for the intro, change it to kinda mirror how you had it at the end of the song). Lates!

on You Are An Angel by PrizeBeatzEnt
Pretty deep stuff goin on here mate. Dunno how I feel about the autotuned vox stuff near the beginning though (they were interesting, but didn't really seem to go with the overall vibe of the piece). Beyond that the piano stuff is killer. Might through some more variation on 'em coz there were spots where it got kinda repetitive (or maybe just bump up the volume level of the bass, coz right before it started playin I was thinkin that's what the piano stuff could use). Dunno how I feel about the other synth lead ya had on here (not so much the sequence, which I was diggin, but the sound bank ya used for it, sounded a bit too hard for the overall groove this has IMO). Dunno, maybe try swappin out the sound bank with somethin less pronounced or add some effects to what ya got now to give 'em a spaced out feel (drop down the vol on 'em just a tad too). Beyond that this is golden. Lates!

Def diggin the Koto (?) synths ya got goin on here. The scratch is kinda cool too, but if its like a loop or stock sound I'd advise against using it too much, ya know? The beat is cool too, though this is pretty short. I'd recommend extending this baby out by about another minute or two. And maybe work on the way you transition things (namely the way you've got the drums structured, the abrupt start-stop stuff is sorta iffy, consider fading in and out of them at times). Otherwise your cool here. Lates!

on Leave Me Alone(remix) by Dubh3124
Interesting tune mate. Really diggin the way you've got all of the synths arranged on here (like the way you got 'em goin along with the vox). Can also understand why ya chose her 'pella (the voice & flow is so nice). The only thing that I'm not particularly keen about the pads (dunno if its the fact that they so closely mirror the horn synths which flatten 'em a lil or if its how they seem straight on in their depth). I'd suggest maybe panning them to one side, dropping them down a lil, and adding a couple more effects to give 'em distinction. I'm also iffy about the beat. Perhaps others would disagree that its the right blend of punctuation and minimalism. Though they just don't sit with me is all (perhaps its the choice of your sound bank for the clap and snare, shrugs). Hmm, maybe besides that its about doin somethin to make 'em punch a bit more (also consider panning 'em opposite the pads if ya adjust 'em that way). Otherwise this is golden mate. Lates!

lol yea its an actual flat key in the mix I use DSK brass which i octaved the pitch by 1.5 nobody noticed it but me so i just left it because i was OCDing over this beat and the song would have never got finished.

Play 2 now...

Nice to see you posting more mixes mate. Am thinkin this one's pretty decent (the pizzi sounding synths are my favorite part). Then the build after the lull is my second favorite. And though I really dig what you've done here, if it were my mix I'd consider adding more to the bass and low end side of things (of course, I'm more of a Goa-Psy & Progressive fan that leans toward more D&B / Breaks stuff). As to the arrangement, I'd work on building into the song in steps (ie, start with a fade-in of the synths, introduce the drums, cut all for 1 or 2 seconds with a gated reverb, and bring them back while also starting the bass line). Beyond that its golden mate. Keep bangin on mate. You've got a fan here. Cheers!

Though its kinda short I'm thinkin that this is a pretty solid foundation for a killer full track. Has some really nice elements going on & the description gives it a nice spin (I can see where yer comin from with it). That mysterious dark vibe, kinda spooky if ya think about it. Would be nice to hear some MCs going off of this. Lates!

@ first I thought it rather odd that the track was only 0:18 long (turned out to be some kinda small glitch though so nevamind). Really digging the growly-like bass synths going on here. And agree that the kick-roll was fun (not done enough in songs IMO, course that's strange for me to say since I almost never use any kind of drum fill in my stuff). On the suggestive side, I'd kinda like to hear the synth stuff more (as is, they come out kinda weak/soft in the main mix, me thinks). Though on the flip-side they aren't overbearing like they sometimes can be (heard on other mixes here or wherever). Overall this was a pretty decent lil jam ya threw at us. Cheers!

Hey, thanks much for stopping by. Yeah, the drums are definitely stealing the show on this track, but I thought it sounded pretty good that way. The synths can probably get a focus on some the remixes people will do! Glad you liked the fills! I appreciate your review!

Yeah mate, I agree, this one's a really decent piece. I think you've improved in your mixing & arranging skills since your last song (it also seems to be a genre that you're good at). There isn't a single thing that I can think to suggest for this. Though the mix-down seems to still be running a little hot (too close to red). Otherwise, this was superbly done. Def saved & faved. Cool cover mate. Really digging the recorded-live quality is has. Dunno if that's the way ya did it of it was done using effects (that's when ya know you've successfully achieved it, where people scratch their heads not knowing). Really diggin the organs, bass & vocals here. The beats are keen too (but I'm thinkin that the intro wood block might be comin out a lil too hot in the main mix). Otherwise, nicely done. Lates!

Yeah, I'm diggin the club vibe & its slightly abstract nature. I'd suggest going back to rework the levels of the main mix (because the vocals seem to be comin out a lil too hot compared to the rest of the song). Also, be sure to monitor the meter because it seems as if you've pushin red (mostly on the low-end of things). Otherwise this is pretty golden. Keep bangin on mate. Lates!

Cool dreamy, floating-on-air vibe here mate. Only 2 things I could think to suggest for this is to A.) bump up the levels of the bass just a tad so they have a stronger presence in the main mix & B.) go back and watch your levels on the meter as it sounds as if you've got alotta red going on for the master levels. I'm also on-the-fence about adding any vocals to this (I kinda like it as is, but having someone sing on it might be nice too). Keep bangin on. Lates!
