Yeah mate, I've had that happen a few times. I call 'em "Happy accidents" or "Ghostin cruise control". Ya get in that zone and a sorta tunnel-vision thing happens (just like in Biker Boyz). And though I dig this tune, I don't think its quite at 'banger' status. Don't get me wrong, the composition rocks, but I'm thinkin that it needs just a lil extra juice for that excitement kick, ya know? Like periodically throwin some effects (say Flanger & Bit-Machine) on the keys, same thing with the horns (ie, reverb w/diminished echo). And the drums're def thumpin, though if it were my mix I'd consider throwin on some deep sub-hum sine bass to go along with 'em. Otherwise, this is a really good foundation. Keep bangin on mate. Lates!
I hear what your saying fam. Some effects would really bring juice to this. There is some stuff in this miss that I don't like the bass line gets distorted.Yea i'l be putting some deep sub great idea.
Art's such a funny thing. The critique/review process is almost as complicated as its creation. Don't say enough and the art doesn't improve, say too much and things get lost in translation (info overload), be too light with ones words and they are oft blown off or overlooked, be too hard with the words and they can be taken the wrong way (out of context & offensive). And perhaps the most frustrating part of it all is that its all opinion (and are as varied as the cloths we wear, food we eat). I've grown to take it all in stride these days, taking in the bad with the good. I also don't let myself fall into arguments as its a simple matter of considering the source (either the item-in-review or the reviewer).
Sorry for the rant/ramble there, let's talk about the track.
As I see it, this def has potential. On its own it does sort of miss the mark (because of its brevity). For that I'd suggest stretching it out by about 3x its current length. Won't talk about the mix-down process as I've discussed it enough already IMO. Work on both of those things (and maybe consider adding a vocalist, though I dunno, I kinda like this instrumental as is) and you'll be golden. Keep bangin on mate. Lates!
Kinda like Cinematic HH IMO. Def could see a cool vid being made for this. And though I really enjoy hearing instrumentals I feel that this is really suited for vocals. Have any MCs jumped on this on yet (I'd like to hear it if they have). Decently serious vibes here mate. Lates!
I think, this track is too fast for the MC's (100bpm), most mc's like to work on tracks with 75-90 bpm(at least I think so :) )
Thanks again for the review, much appreciated as always!
Excellent fade in on the intro. When the synth kicked in I thought it was go in another direction (kinda reminds me of an old NES game, haha). Though it has a sort of Prodigy-like vibe to it. And LOL @ the voc-sam ya used on here. The only thing I could think to suggest for this is to punch up the bass a lil, bring back the lead synth just a tad, and def extend this puppy out by about another 2 minutes, give or take. Otherwise, this is a pretty solid jam mate. Lates!
Dope Mortal Kombat-esque chant at the beginning mate. Interesting approach to Jungle here (digging the slow-jam kinda way ya did this). Kind of a refreshing change from the main, ya know? Solid work guys (kinda wish it was longer though). Lates!
Hey what's up man? Yeah this was made at 120bpm for Joyfulwave's looperman big collab between like 5-6 genre's I think. So he only had me do a 1:45 trk to fit in with the rest of the tracks. If you haven't heard it you should check it out. Let me get ya a link...
Cool jam mate and I dig the way ya made this a longer mix (seems like not alotta folks are keen on making something go past 5 mins these days). As for the repetitiveness of the track, you can solve that easily by adding in some breaks, or cutting up yer samples, or dropping stuff out (to let other parts play iso'd, like play the bass for a minute drop it out for 10-20 seconds, bring it back & drop out something else a few seconds later, like say, the drums for 5-10 seconds). Beyond that this is a pretty solid composition mate. Keep bangin on!
This is the one you wanted me to scope right? Alright let's check this puppy out!
Play 2 now...
I like the mix of houses on this (new skool with old skool). Can see this going either way vocally. Though because of the low-heavy groove of this mix I think that it might be better suited for a female MC (unless you could find a dude that goes at a higher register, like Q-Tip or somethin). Still gotta watch yer levels on the mix-down, but otherwise this is a really solid piece. Keep bangin 'em out mang. Lates!
Haha, that voc-sam is nutty mate. Dunno how I feel about it (probably wouldn't mix it myself, but to each their own). Really diggin the panning treatment on the drums (keen loop too). And that's prolly the most solid piece of this composition. Kinda minimal in its treatment elsewhere though, but that's cool. The only thing I'd suggest is that ya consider throwin on some bass elements to this (unless this is just somethin you were havin fun with, not bein serious). Def interesting approach. Lates!
This was a comedy piece lol I could make it serious very easily do. Take the voices in this. Add some good bass lines and then I'm set thx for the review do :)
Haha, I recognize those synth loops ya used (they're pretty sweet, amirite). Also further kudos & lulz for the PS2 ref. I think I had this prog too (I know I had 3 for the playstation, including both MTV ones). Quick question to close that part out- was that how you got into audio software too? That's what it was for me with MTV:MG2. As for the song, it sounds pretty solid considering when/where it came from. I'm also impressed that the sound qual is as good as it is (mine all sounded sorta muddy coz of the way it was transferred). Was also mixed together pretty well IMO. Cool stuff mate. Lates!
Cool! Nice to be able to share this with another who was doing the same thing. That's exactly how I got my start. The first program i used was Magix Music Maker for the PS2. Then I found the Ejay Club program. I was able to do analog recording direct to a Phillips cd recorder. Not the best way to do it but it still worked. I have a later version that I mixed down on the pc by transferring the Ejay loops to cd and then back to wav files on the pc. I wouldn't want to try that again. Thanks a lot!
I can see where you were comin from with this one (the picture you painted in the description). Though for some reason I envision being on a sail boat coasting along the bay towards open water. Something about it shouts about smelling the sea air as it blows across the bow and through my hair. Seeing the sunlight dance across the little waves. The way the deck bobs & rolls along. If I were scripting a video for this that's what I'd do it on. Cool vibes here mate. Lates!
PS. When are ya gonna upload some
more stuff, I've covered all the
tunes you got up now, :0
Pretty cool fusion of Trance & House here mate! When this started playing I kept hearing computerized vocals (like in the stylings of Benni Benassi, Chromeo, and similar). Could def see this being turned into a much longer set, so I might haveta play with doin a remix of this too, if ya don't mind (House is sorta my home genre, ya see). Will letcha know & am gonna save/fave this one for sure. Thanks for sharing mate. Lates!
Cheers man :) Glad you like it ;-9 If you really want to take a shot at a remix i could send you a wav/aiff-fille if you like ;) Better quality :)
Greetings,

Have you ever seen the film Brotherhood of the Wolf? That's kinda what this reminds me of, namely that one scene where the maiden is trying to get that one sheep who has fallin into a sink hole (right before the monster attacks). Odd how my view differs from the relaxed nature of the track (but its what came to mind, {shrugs}). The pads & drums on this are pretty wicked (dunno how I feel about the storm sounds, but its whatev, ya know). Solid stuff mate. Lates!
There's a section on the upload screen where you can add the lyrics (just FYI and all that). This is some pretty abstract stuff (def diggin the effects ya threw onto the vocals). And the accompanying song is pretty bad @$$. Though I'd suggest going back to rework some of the levels to add more of a solid dynamic to the track (place the vox @ say 0, the bells & beat at -1.5, the bass @ -2 or -2.5, etc.). Otherwise this was pretty tight. Later on!
That's pretty cool mate. What's the name of the App, if ya don't mind me askin? Must be cool havin a programmer for a friend. As for the song, sounds pretty solid. Basic composition, straight & to the point. Makes sense for what its being used for (which I'm guessing is the start-up background song?). Nicely done mate. Lates!
The app is still in production and has no name :) It will be aid for kids to learn maths, kind of educational space shooter game. You won't kill no aliens though, but shoot numbers, geomtrical figures etc. And yeah, it was main menu theme music. Thanks for the review!
This seems a bit too upbeat to be Ambient IMO. The keys & sequences are def Amb, though. On a side note, ya might wanna watch yer levels on the mixer coz it sounds like you've got some clipping going on here (mostly on the low-end). Just FYI and all that. Interesting stuff mate. Lates!
Nice fusion of electronic & old skool rock-a-billy. Kinda reminds me of that one track that Junkie XL did a few years back with that song he sampled/remixed Elvis. Might wanna consider goin back to adjust the levels of this because it sounds like its a bit flat (all chans set around the same vol level) and it also somes like you've got some massive clipping going on at the higher volumes. Just FYI and all that. Late ron!
Pretty smooth jams going on here mate. Especially digging the piano play & effects that're thrown on 'em. Never heard or messed with Psy-chill before, but it seems like it might be a fun genre to get into more (just like Trip-hop was). Thanks for posting this piece, its def motivating me. Keep bangin on!
This is just my opinion, but I'd consider ditchin that canned-applause, because it usually seems cheesy if the song isn't actually being played live (and most folks can tell, ya know). Diggin the subtle bass & drums on here. Though if it were my mix I'd bump 'em up just a tad (but not too much, don't want 'em overpowering the strings you got goin on). Nice abstract HH piece ya threw at us mate. Lates!
Now that I hear this again it those sound cheesy.
Recently I switched from Fl to Ableton live intro. Maybe I will sample this later. Anyways the track I'm reworking is "Raw" if you could give me some input on that one it would be awesome. Thanks for the review
No offense mate, but the Xylophone (?) on here had me thinkin back to the Seasame Street record I had when I was a kid (kind of a cool flash back there). The beats're nice, as are the bass, but if I were to suggest anything it'd be to add a secondary bassline to this (somethin like some basic piano keys, but set around C2 or C3). And think about throwin in some variation (breaks & lulls, isos & different pairings {like the bass & drums only}). Otherwise, yer pretty much on your way with this one. Keep bangin on!
Hahah what those Play 2 now... mean lol. Anyways this is Kinda trashed already. Maybe I will rework it by using some sounds from here but I have no plans for this. Right Now I'm reworking one. Haha the Xylohpne. I like the sound of it. Some tracks like this one I aimed for a child like presence.
Def sweet keys goin on here mate. And I dunno why, but this sounds vaguely familiar- Have any folks collabed with you on this beat to make a mix of this on here (posted to their page)? Hmm, either way I might have to take this & do somethin with it (the urge is too strong, haha). Will letcha know. Cheers!
you've probably already heard something similar! This is from trance midi pack, which I cut and made some boring hip hop! If you want I can send you notes, they are very simple! Thanks DV for listening and reivew!
I think I have to go to your profile, and check out more of your music since you left me 3 great reviews..haha
Sort of a driving piece here. And in relation to the beginning of the song it makes me think of a family frantically trying to outrun a storm (high speed down the highway). Pretty cool stuff here. The only thing that I could think to suggest is to combine the piano and the guitar more. Otherwise this is a pretty solid piece. Lates!
this is my first collab with AllenV, when I started working in this track I did not know in which direction to I go! So I made a pop/piano track, which was empty, and I asked Allen to play guitar over the track! My mistake was I did not made more variations with piano, so Allen had to follow my piano rhythm (3x 8 (or 12) bars, I no longer remember), but I am happy with this, because this is my first collab on looper , and the first with Allen!
Thanks DV for review, much appreciated!
Dunno why, but this kinda reminds me of a mix between Depeche Mode & Orgy. And I'm enjoying the effects ya got on the vox (how they match the synth's sound). Kinda takes me back to 93 for some odd reason. The only thing that I could think to suggest for this is for you to repeat the "Danger danger" part of the vox (that's what I'd do if I were mixing this). Cool stuff mate. Lates!
Yep, this is def sick. Though it does seem to be comin out a lil hot in the mixdown (hadta turn my speakers down a lil, just FYI). Which is a shame coz I kinda wanted to blast this (for full effect). Will say that that bass ya got on here is thrummin my sub though. Could only imagine what this'd sound like in a can w/15's (take yer breath away, maybe, haha). Am diggin the synths too. Cool jam mate. Lates!
Thanks for the review man, it's been a long time since I listen to this. It's a nice reminder lol. Thanks for the words man, I'll check out a tune of yours!
Steve
Def has a nice dark vibe goin on. Kinda takes a minute to really pick up, but once it does, whooo boi look out, haha. The only thing that I could think to suggest for this is to expand it out & make like a mini-session (say 15-20 mins). Coz this just has that feel to it (like it wants to be longer). Beyond that this is nicely done. Keep bangin on mate. Lates!
Nice jam mate. Kinda reminds me of what it'd be like if they did a space opera version of Just The Two of Us (Will Smith's version or whatev). I could imagine this being used for several things (DJ sets of multi-genres, infomercials/commercials, documentaries, dramadies, etc.). Cool stuff here. Cheers!
