Impressive work. Great building, great atmosphere, and intriguing sounds. Lots of variety and style, here. I found miself tripping while listening to it. Worth any single second I spent listening ot it!
Hi. Glad you enjoyed it - all of the seconds and minutes, apparently.
That's very good to hear as I really do work hard on every bar, section, change, transition and so on. You particularly have to when dealing with lengthy, complex, varied tracks, as most of mine are.
I try hard to remove anything which isn't working and holding things up in any way. The flow of the whole thing is very important to me. However, I generally don't remove that much. Instead, when sections aren't working, I spend ages finding a way to make them work. Quite often that involves adding more elements and layers, which is partly why my stuff ends up so layered and complex.
But if a section feels a bit too awkward for the track, I quite often just leave it elsewhere on the timeline and then return and develop it into another track, with different ideas and sounds (whilst keeping some of them). That's really how I compose as I very rarely start a new track from scratch. I endlessly recycle projects I've been working on for years.
Tripping while listening can be good though be careful not to suffer any injuries.
Thanks again for your thoughts.
I still have one of your tracks marked as a Favourite.
Nice grooves and feel. The drum is a bit too thin imho, overall the tune needs more "fatness" to be more catchy and full. Still like it, though. Good work.
Thank you so much for your comments. I really appreciate you taking the time to stop by, listen and post them. Elegant and smooth are very rewarding so thank you very much.
This is really interesting. Something's not clicking right in the mix, the kick don't snap enough and it lacks fatness, but the composing skills are brilliant for sure! Keep working on it!
This is really good. Warming, deep, surrounding sounds filled with style in a smooth mix. The lead is a bit too dirty for the mood of the song, in my opinion, but It's probably just a matter of personal taste.
Beautiful, makes me want to get back to produce some deep house.
Great mood and intro. Intriguing key change, I'd effect it more to put more emphasis on it. Overall the arrangment seems to need a little work, I think that such a good tune deserves to be more catchy. As it is now, it tends to became a little repetitive. Still like it a lot :)
Dance music repetitive?? Noooo!! Thanks mate but no, I am done with the track now and need to put it to bed. I did it quite a long time ago now and had it hanging around so I posted it so I could move on. Thanks for review anyway I will return the favour in due course.
Interesting use of slow vocals but I think they don't fit perfectly. I like the concept a lot but the arrangement doesn't work as planned, imho. Overall a better work on the mix would really pump the tune up. I liked the idea, thouhg, keep working on it!
Thanks a lot for your nice comment! Glad you liked this track. For some reason the bass range is quite low in my latest productions - thanks for pointing this! Greetings, Alex
The ideas are all here, but to me the track lacks too much punch. For my taste you could have keep the 80s sounds and feel with a more powerful and "fat" mix and the tune would have be a total blast! It's not a shot on you, I really like your work, it's just a point of view, in my hopinion you should consider a more "contemporary" mix and master keeping the style and sounds.
For some reason Frankie Knuckles came to my mind while listening to this, and I think that you could easily achieve that kind of overall sound without changing too much the overall feel of the tune.
Thx dude. The comments are appreciated. I don't take anything you said the wrong way. Like a lot of people, except for maybe top pro producers I guess, I'm always trying to improve the sound. I use all the software I have and use what I've learned so far to try and get the best sound I can manage. It is what it is.
I like the bass line, but what happen to the beat around 0:45? it fades a little and then it never get back to the starting level. I'd try to work on the chords, maybe adding sounds in the harmonics... which chords it's up on you and the idea of tune that you have in mind :) Some soulful chord would fit very well, imho.
Thanks for listening....
I was wondering the same thing. The beats never come back to the same level after the bass-line kicks in.I think the Bass is dominating the beats.I will EQ the bass and lower its volume.
And yes I am working on some new synths and chord sequence....

Lots of good ideas in this tune. Nice work. If I may suggest, sometimes the tune seems to get a little lost, it seems like it's just repeating the same loop without a purpose. The overall feel is great but it needs a more structured arrangement. I'd like the arp too but it became a little obsessive after a while. If you want to work on both these problems in one shot, I'd suggest to make a part where the arp fade out, and the whole composition gently rise with more rich pad and/or piano chords, just to "reverb out" and than finding new life with the arp again. It would make the tune more interesting to follow. There's a lot of nice parts in the tune already which "deserves" to be perfectioned :)
Thanks Leverett! Really appreciate the comment....
Soooo much to improve and awesome hints....
Actually I'm still trying to learn Ableton Live(it's the best DAW I have used) and surely will improvise the track....!!a
definitely interesting work. I think that guitar and violin both need some ambience effects (most of all guitars, which are very "dry" in the mix and doesn't blend very well), but there's a lot of potential here.
You're right about acoustic guitars, but the track is not completely finalised yet, so some tweaking on the sound still has to be done. But when it comes to violin...the sound is dry strictly on purpose (my firm personal choice). But thx alot for opinion and advice...appreciate it very much!:)
I wasn't thinking about speeding up the tempo, but simply doubling the beats... the sound would keep the same speed, but the beats IMHO would fit much better. But as I said, it's a matter of taste :)
I’d make a shorter intro: from 6th second you could jump straight to 25th, 26th second. Like three bars from the first drum loop and one bar from the second one, to launch the mandola, for example.
It’s not a written rule, but lots of times if you have a loop which goes for 4 bars followed by another one which goes for another 4 bars, you can “melt” them keeping the first going for 3 bars and the second for the last bar: it often “launches” the following part very well.
You could do something like that between 1:04 and 1:26, for example.
at last I'm so good to see someone has ben agree with me abouT duration of this ethnic trial of mine ,and before everything an exclusive thnx for your attention and shared idea in commenT.
yes it's lOoOng ..good to see U've underestood iT..
regarding seconds 7 to 26 , I underestand your idea , buT
if U pay alittle more attention U'll underestand @ 11thsecond another percusive line is added to the first line, and then @18th second both these membranophonic lines are changed to 2 new one & then music goes to second 26.and I thaughT if I delet this parT , listener will miss hearing how 2 percussive asian membranophone(percussive in fact)line can be add together and change to 2 new one.
and abouT 1:04 to 1:26 , I like your idea again .
but maybe my mix is not good enough or U haven;t lustened tracj by headphone . strumming intruments playes to riff that are very similar to eachother ,buT there are 2 different note in them .this difference is such little that we can ignore it .and I'm gratefull of your worthy attention & usefull comment.I ain't change this version here in looperman cause I have not that mood , buT I'll ignore that 22seconds and will send U too a verion of thaT.
anad about melting loops in 3th bar line , I can underestand if U may don't know much about persian music & literature,as I don't know much about Italian ethnic instruments & musical form and literature , buT We should follow some harmonic rules in Persian music , for example riff proression should be couple_couple and executed in couple bars.we may can do that obvious idea of yours easily in pop and rock , buT persian music follows persian literature and has such exclusive rules like couple progressions.

if I may suggest, this tune is calling for some speed . You have it all here, the sounds, the atmosphere, the sourroundings... I'd definitely try to put up a photek-like beat on it. On your taste, though. Keep it up :)
