I see you are from Memphis. It is a place that is stocked with musical talent....maybe something in the water?? No matter what causes this phenomenon, the important thing is great musicians/composers/arrangers/producers like yourself post your wonderful music for the rest of us to enjoy.
I loved the pacing on this one. It would be nice with vocals, but it is pretty damned special as an instrumental.
Thanks a lot for the wonderful review. I guess it is the water, but then again the whole state of TN has array of great musical talents. Proud to be from there. Yeah, some vocals would be a great addition for this.
Happy Holidays.
This one is spectacular in the headphones. I love ambient music and I especially love ambient music with a purpose. The introduction of the drums was one of those "wow, that's nice" moments. Beautiful production from start to finish and a great way to enjoy my afternoon cup of coffee.
Smokin hot my friend. I love the choir...more people should take notice and think out of the box like you did on this one. It gives the whole track an almost sinister, dark feel. I use a vst called Magnus Choir and it is pretty close to the real thing.
This track is stellar. Outstanding job. Great effort.
Thank you so much ShortbusMusic for this review. I've always had a fascination with choir loops ever since I started making beats. It adds to a beat something that no other type of loop can. Unfortunately good ones are hard to come by. But that usually never stops me aha. Again, I appreciate your review. And keep doing your thing :)
Nice stab at a difficult genre. The beat is a bit too repetitive for my tastes (I kept waiting for a chorus or drop or something). I love Mr. Doll's work, he is amazing. Keep at it. Like all of us, the more you do this the better you will get.
What a great collaboration, Chris and Bill....you guys should really hit the road together. All you need is a bass player, a drummer, and a Bus driver (hint, hint), haha. And while we are all on tour, I know all the great places to eat and drink.
Seriously, this is really, really good. Outstanding effort gents.
This is really nice. I like the space you have created with this one. Not something that is easy to do. Great synths, and just the right amount of fx on things. I'd say this one is definitely a keeper. Beautiful work.
Nice start on this one. It sounds like one of the tracks off a video game (and that isn't a bad deal).
Some of the stretches can get a little repetitive, so you might change up instrumentation or add different layers in those spots. Instrumentals are difficult because you have to hold the listeners attention without the benefit of a singer or rapper to hold them for 4 minutes (so they get easily bored if things don't change up frequently). You might consider using the synth break that you used as an outro more as a bridge....expand on it for a while and see if it doesn't give you a chance to really make this one special. All in all, it's a nice track with a lot of potential. You should be proud of it.
Bear
EDIT:
The problem with the master lies in the mix (sounds like some kind of Ninja thing, haha). To keep things from getting muddy, you have to set them in the right places in your mix. Try moving instruments that occupy the same frequencies to different places (pan one left, the other right). Others that try to hijack the mix use a stereo effect to widen them out. But the mix is the key to a great master. This one sounds OK, but if I were you I would experiment with moving things around a bit just to see if it clears things up. Careful though, sometimes it may only be one instrument (maybe the bass). Just have fun with it. Bear
Thanks a lot for the review, It really warms my heart getting this kind of good feedback. :)
I have a question for you though, What did you think about the mastering of the track? Does it sound okay? I had a shitload of trouble getting the track to not sound thick and incoherent.
Dammmmnnnn, this is good. I listened to this pella, but had no idea which direction to take it. Obviously, this was the right direction to go with it. My God man, this one is ready for the radio. It's better than 99% of the tracks on the radio right now. Your dynamics are flawless...hell, all of your productions are flawless. Straight to favorites my friend. Straight to favorites.
I can't figure out why something this good doesn't have more reviews....unless it is folks are a bit jealous, haha. Come on people, drop a review. This one is fire.
Coming from you, That is truly a blessing... I consider your works "Perfect"... And I really appreciate it man.. This still is in the works but you did say something I hope on achieving. Getting music out that beats the radio garbage. You have me inspired. Thank you.
Hey Todd, sorry to hear about the difficulties. This is a great life if we can handle all the stuff thrown at us. This song is beautiful, full of emotion, and has your signature all over it.
I've missed your masterful guitar work.
Like Bill says, it seems the universe is starting to realign itself.
I'm hanging in there. Some days by a mere thread, but every day is a victory.
I hope you are well and that this is a joyous season for you and your loved ones. Thanks for sharing this one. It's special.
This is outstanding. Mixing Glocke, Abe, and Slap is definitely a recipe for success and this one proves it. Production is crystal clear on this one as well. This is bad azz for sure. You nailed it my friend. Gotta give this one a 10/10. Well done.
Trax, like a couple of others, the original song was not a big favorite of mine. But I LOVE YOUR VERSION!!. If this had been available, I would have purchased it when he released it the first time. This again proves why this genre is better left to professionals like you, and the rest of us need to just stand back and watch, haha. Terrific work. And I love the Christmas avatar you have up. It's a ten.
I think this is a record for me, faved in about 3 seconds. Have you guys thought about hitting the road together? Slap is one of my favorite people in the whole world, such a nice guy and such a huge talent.
The blending of talent on this one is just heaven.
This is so good on so many different levels, it's hard to know what to say, other than....well,
You really could be dangerous if you were put in the right situation - in a studio, with a great group of session players, and a promotional machine behind you.
Beautiful cinematic piece. The choir is a great way to lead into the main body of work. Like has been said, a lot is going on, but it all works quite well. Very nicely done.
I love the lead on this one. It makes me smile as well. I am starting out my day with a great cup of Kona coffee and this wonderful track. You keep raising the standards for electronica (all genres). Really well done. I had to fav and download this one. It goes on the Bear's IPod :) Thanks for allowing me to download this one. Outstanding work. Bear
Hey Bear, glad I could make you smile with my lead! I take pride in making music that goes well with a morning cup of coffee, hope I didn't dissappoint. Glad you found this to be ipod worthy! Thanks so much for the listen and review!
I really really like this. It did accomplish your vision. The combination of the piano and strings and their interaction throughout was simply brilliant. Great use of percussion, not too much, just right.
This one shows a real ability to compose and arrange in a difficult genre. I also loved the dynamics in this. Just a really well done piece. You should be proud, it was captivating.
Thanks a bunch Bear. I was going for a piece that could almost take listeners into a trance ;) Appreciate the feedback holmes, enjoy your holidays. - DF/Jerome
Hey Sean, thanks for the welcome back. I have this song on my IPod :) It brings a smile to my face every time I light it up and plug into the car stereo. I hope all is well with you and your family. It is good to see you are still making hits. I'll be back through to catch up on all your latest. I hope you have a great holiday season my friend.
Great use of the loop my friend, but this piece goes much farther than that. Outstanding drums, and your mix is really good as well. Very, very nice. Keep at it. You have skills my friend.
Wow, I had to add this one to my favorites list. This is really, really nice. Everything from the Rhodes to the regular piano to the synth work, it is just brilliant.
Hell, if you can get Abe wound up, you know you are doing something right, and in this case, you are doing a whole lot of things right.
The production is crystal clear. This puppy is perfect. Bravo my friend.
Hey my friend, first let me say thank you for the nice welcome back. And it is nice to see you are still cranking out spectacular music. Christ this is so good, I got chills when the strings dropped. This could cross over into about 50 different genres. Good to see/hear you are still setting the standards.
Wonderful work and a nice way to come back to the Loop. All my best over the holidays. Faved by the way.
It is amazing what wonderful music can spawn from a single drum loop. This has the signature Planet bass line, brilliant and elegant, coupled with this marvelous synth work, then layered with JFW's guitar work - exquisite my friend.
It's like this fantastic musical cake.
You took all of the ingredients, mixed them perfectly, and voila, you came up with this masterpiece. What a great way to start my day, with a perfect, flawless Planetjazzbass piece of art.
Thanks Bear....I don't know what it is with music, sometimes I wish I could just sing like Iggy PoP and get angry with the world..but when I sit down and hit record..this sort of stuff come out! LOL...cheers mate and it's fantastic your back on the loop! Dave :)
From the looks of your track list, it looks like I've got some catching up to do :) I can't think of a better way to spend my time. This one is signature Jah production, a master's class in how to mix and master. You just keep getting better and better.
I hope you have been well and that your health is good. I look forward to getting my Jah fix, hehe. Hope all is well brother.

Edit: Sorry to hear about all the problems with the organ rejection, and the immune system issues. Keep fighting the good fight. They say it is a great life if you don't weaken. Your strength is an inspiration to us all my friend. Hang in there.
Hey Trax, you have always set a very high standard in all of the electronic genres and this one continues that tradition. This is a superb mix, and it always amazes me how you can chop/slice/dice vocals and manipulate them to fit your vision.
Really nicely done, but I would expect nothing less from you. You continually show your prowess as a producer extraordinaire. Bravo.
Another outstanding effort from you. As I found earlier, you play everything and you play everything extremely well. This is no exception. I love the tone you get from your guitar. That comes from a lifetime of work and effort. You set the bar really high. Bravo my friend, bravo.
