Hey Sean, thanks for the welcome back. I have this song on my IPod :) It brings a smile to my face every time I light it up and plug into the car stereo. I hope all is well with you and your family. It is good to see you are still making hits. I'll be back through to catch up on all your latest. I hope you have a great holiday season my friend.
Great use of the loop my friend, but this piece goes much farther than that. Outstanding drums, and your mix is really good as well. Very, very nice. Keep at it. You have skills my friend.
Wow, I had to add this one to my favorites list. This is really, really nice. Everything from the Rhodes to the regular piano to the synth work, it is just brilliant.
Hell, if you can get Abe wound up, you know you are doing something right, and in this case, you are doing a whole lot of things right.
The production is crystal clear. This puppy is perfect. Bravo my friend.
Hey my friend, first let me say thank you for the nice welcome back. And it is nice to see you are still cranking out spectacular music. Christ this is so good, I got chills when the strings dropped. This could cross over into about 50 different genres. Good to see/hear you are still setting the standards.
Wonderful work and a nice way to come back to the Loop. All my best over the holidays. Faved by the way.
It is amazing what wonderful music can spawn from a single drum loop. This has the signature Planet bass line, brilliant and elegant, coupled with this marvelous synth work, then layered with JFW's guitar work - exquisite my friend.
It's like this fantastic musical cake.
You took all of the ingredients, mixed them perfectly, and voila, you came up with this masterpiece. What a great way to start my day, with a perfect, flawless Planetjazzbass piece of art.
Thanks Bear....I don't know what it is with music, sometimes I wish I could just sing like Iggy PoP and get angry with the world..but when I sit down and hit record..this sort of stuff come out! LOL...cheers mate and it's fantastic your back on the loop! Dave :)
From the looks of your track list, it looks like I've got some catching up to do :) I can't think of a better way to spend my time. This one is signature Jah production, a master's class in how to mix and master. You just keep getting better and better.
I hope you have been well and that your health is good. I look forward to getting my Jah fix, hehe. Hope all is well brother.
Bear
Edit: Sorry to hear about all the problems with the organ rejection, and the immune system issues. Keep fighting the good fight. They say it is a great life if you don't weaken. Your strength is an inspiration to us all my friend. Hang in there.
Hey Trax, you have always set a very high standard in all of the electronic genres and this one continues that tradition. This is a superb mix, and it always amazes me how you can chop/slice/dice vocals and manipulate them to fit your vision.
Really nicely done, but I would expect nothing less from you. You continually show your prowess as a producer extraordinaire. Bravo.
Another outstanding effort from you. As I found earlier, you play everything and you play everything extremely well. This is no exception. I love the tone you get from your guitar. That comes from a lifetime of work and effort. You set the bar really high. Bravo my friend, bravo.
This track is solid from top to bottom. No weaknesses anywhere. Drums sound like you were playing a real set, the guitar work is off the charts, and your synth work is stellar. It's hard to pick which instrument you play the best.....you excel at all of them. Top notch work on this one. You definitely have mad skills. I enjoyed the hell out of this one. Faved for sure.
You certainly don't disappoint do you? Another really well done song. This one has a more complicated vocal, but you pull it off like a real professional. The only critique I have is I would love another verse or two (but I'm greedy that way).
I would say you are two for two, and we are all ready for more from you.
Wonderful treatment on the mix as well. Really well done.
woaaaah, thanks! i was actually thinking of re-recording this one, i felt it sounded a little off, or rushed. not sure. if I do, i might be inclined to add another verse, most of my songs tend to be short or choppy. Thanks so much for your time and words. the support i get here is amazing, without it I don't think i'd keep up making music.
Nothing like setting the bar really, really, really high with your first song, haha. This is exceptional work. I love the unplugged feel to this one, it seems more intimate.
Like you are sharing secrets with us.
Your voice has great control, pitch, and emotion. And a special warmth to it.
Keep singing. You have huge talent and ability. Bravo.
Oh wow. thank you so much! This review made my whole week. And whenever I write, the 'setting the bar high' comment pops in my head and reminds me to really try hard.
I was really going for what you described and so you saying it really helps me to know what I'm doing right. :D
Nice work on this one. I was surprised when I saw on your profile that you don't play the guitar, and that this one is composed of loops. Shows a great deal of arranging skills on your part, something I don't think I could pull off. Great production as well. Keep at this. Who knows, you just might be the guy in the studio telling the musicians what to do, haha. Great job.
hello jerry! i could not belive you just said that!!! Thank you shortBUS!!! YES! nice review. awsome glad you ejoyed it! just whent loopy on it. thanks a billion cus a million just is not enough
peace!
I love your piano work, it shows you have true ability. This is really nice. I wouldn't make too many changes, especially if you are going to lay vocals down. That could change everything, specifically the dynamics. It seems when I load up a track as an instrumental, then add vocals, I always end up taking out half of the stuff I put in, haha.
Regardless, this is a perfectly chilled track. Well done.
This is tremendous. Your mix gives a feeling of depth, almost like I'm standing at the edge of a great chasm, leaning over...not far enough to fall, but enough to know that another fraction of an inch and I'm in trouble.
Masterful use of the percussion section. It enhances the feel and is a great lead in to the plaintive wail of the guitar.
This is drama at its finest and definitely a favorite. It belongs in a movie.
Staying with the oriental theme (at least for my reviews), this one brings me to a trip on the Tokaido Line, probably one of the most beautiful 4 hour trips one can take on a bullet train in Japan.
This is rapidly becoming a really nice saga :) I hope there is at least a trilogy for us to enjoy.
Much respect for a wonderful job on these. A great way to start my Friday.
Beautiful. This has an oriental feel to it, especially in the beginning. It brought forth visions of Kenrokuen Garden in Japan, considered to be one of the three most beautiful in the world.
Kenrokuen Garde was first established in the 17th century by the feudal lords of Kaga as their private garden. The name Kenrokuen means ‘Six Attributes Garden’ which is thought to be the perfect garden if it has these six attributes. They are; spaciousness, seclusion, artifice, antiquity, water-courses and panoramas.
I find those six attributes in this piece. Well done sir. And now I am off to listen to part two.
Wow, this is so good. Seriously, the piano work is exceptional. But there are other elements in this that really compliment the piano voicing. This isn't some amateur's attempt at making a song. This is professional from start to finish.
Man, I love cello. There is something about that instrument that puts it on a higher plain. While violins are special, it is the cello that is the superstar of the string section.
There is some real suspense in this piece.
I love the build up in the middle section. It evokes thoughts of a train traveling through the countryside, its destination unknown.
The true test of a cinematic piece is this - can it stand on its own, without visual aids, and paint a mental picture for the listener. This one certainly meets and exceeds that test. Bravo for a well thought out, and brilliantly written song.
Really nice relaxing track. Definitely a great track to unwind to at the end of a really long day. There are some really special elements in this.
I'll be honest, I am not a huge fan of the bass on it...I think it detracts from the mood a tad, but that's just my uninformed opinion - but I'm just nit picking here.
It is stellar work. Thanks for posting it for us to enjoy.
Thanks I appreciate your honesty... I agree a bit.. The bass is a lil to over powering but I like the feel you get from it... I still got this up on my daw so I might have to look into changing the bass maybe??? I respect your constructive view points... Appreciate it!!!
You have a great feel for jazz and it is terrific that you are keeping it alive on the Loop. I too enjoy the "live" feel on this track. I really like the piano in this, it has that old, slightly out of tune, vibe going. All in all, you should be very proud of this track. Really nice work.
Very nice. Is that you on the guitar? If so, much respect. Great bass lines, and really, really nice rhythm guitar work. Nice track to take a drive down the highway with, hehehe. Again, really nice work.
Very nice. This track really is well done. I would bring your vocals forward in the mix. As Thethanx said, they really are the focal point on this so it would be nice to have them front and center. But that is minor nit picking on my part. Great backing track (kudos to Protege) and great female vox (props to imajen). I'd say this one is a keeper. Well done.
Another stellar effort from you on this one. Great backing track and considering you do all of this in your apartment, it's a really nice production. I like the quality of your voice. You could bring the verb down a tab, but all in all, you should be proud of this one.
Wow young lady, you have some mad vocal skills. Great backing track, but the vocal work is what sets this one apart. I would think you would be in high demand here on the Loop. With you and AJ on here, we just might have cornered the market on great RnB singers. Wonderful.
Wow!Thanks so very much my friend,I wish I could live in a state of inspiration that was there when I recorded this.It was everything coming together at the same time cause you're right..it's just yourself and the instrument.
I don't deserve your awesome comments but i'll tell you that I do appreciate it so much because I did put my heart into it and I'm so pleased that it was heard that way,i'm a strong believer in trying to create a feeling and emotion first in music...there's always room for the fun songs and we all play and love them,I'm just happy to occasionally get it right and move someone :)
Thanks again,

The beauty of acoustic guitar is there is nothing to hide behind...no distortion, no Fx, no nothing.
There are songs that are special, and then there are songs that are SPECIAL. This is one of the latter.
Faved and all I can do is stand and applaud.
